Our top story this afternoon is that computers and documents have been seized during an fbi raid at the all womens prison in the east bay. More than a dozen federal agents reportedly conducting this operation earlier today at the federal Corrections Institute at dublin kron. 4 suitable joins us now live outside the facility with what we know right now. Thanks for joining us. Philippe. Youve got to justine in. This is a troubled facility and we have seen several unmarked cars driving in and out of this facility for several hours in the several hours that weve been here. We cannot make out who is coming in and out. But obviously we assume several of them are fbi agents. We do know that there has been an ongoing years long federal abuse investigation going on here eventually led to charges against the former warden and captain both allegedly removed from the premises. Today. Weve been made aware fbi agents stopped by again this time searching taking computers and documents. We spoke with a volunteer advocate with the California Coalition for womens prisoners, a group part of a Class Action Lawsuit against fc. I and the federal bureau of prisons. Emily shapiro says last week 12 more survivors join the lawsuit. Shapiro is not clear, though, what led to this mornings raid but suspects it likely has to do with the Class Action Lawsuit. I hope that more people. Through the whats going on, do the coverage of it start paying attention and hold president accountable. I dont think whats happening today will solve the issue. At least 8 employees, including the wording and captain, have been charged with abuse here at this facility. Again, weve been out here for several hours. Cars coming in and out. Thats not unusual, though. I can tell you ive seen a few guys fbi agents is not usually a Family Member thats riding out with a bulletproof so certainly a busy day here at fci live in dublin, Philippe Djegal kron. 4 news thankfully youll keep us updated. At least 8 fci dublin employees have been charged with sexually abusing inmates. The prisons former warden. Ray garcia was convicted on 8 counts of abuse. Inmate said that garcia and guards created a rape club within the prison 6 others have also been found guilty. And as philippe said last week, a dozen more women filed abuse and retaliation lawsuit. Dozens more lawsuits are expected to be filed in the coming months. New know 2 oclock. The San Francisco Police Department has now confirmed with us here at kron 4. They have reopened the investigation of 63 yearold. Yeah, nothing blues. Death after discovering the person involved in that attack was also allegedly involved in the attack of another elderly asian woman last week. The suspect has now been identified as 43 yearold. Top guns on july 3rd of last year pushed to the ground allegedly by hopkins and she died 2 days later, 2 weeks after her death, the Asian Justice Movement demanded that sfpd released video of who is attack. 2 days later. The group found out that the attack was ruled an accident. Now last week, the same woman allegedly attacked a 71 yearold canton. You speaking woman in San Francisco. This happened in the citys bayview neighborhood on gilman avenue near bret hart Elementary School. Hopkins faces multiple Assault Charges in that incident. And activists believe both attacks are racially motivated and they want wu staff now to be charged as a hate crime. The Police Department is saying they will not be releasing video of the incident because it could jeopardize the investigation. Some developing stories now out of the north bay where 3 of the 4 deputy shot during last week. Shootout in Sonoma County have been released from the hospital and a 4th is now out of the icu. According to investigators last monday, deputies responded to reports of a man holding a rifle just outside of santa rosa. They got into a car chase with that suspect before a shootout started, 4 deputies were injured. One of them shot in the leg to had hand injuries. The 4th deputy suffered a serious head injury and was listed in Critical Condition following that shooting. That deputy has been released from the icu, but is still in the hospital. A San Francisco supervisor wants to revive a program to help unhoused people return back to their hometowns. And this is coming as the city is seeing more People Living on the streets. Its called the homeward bound program. It was initiated in 2005 by governor gavin newsom. When he served as a sanfords when he was then the mayor they Program Provides people with travel and Relocation Assistance with an end goal of cleaning the streets of San Francisco and allowing up to 1000 unhoused people to get a chance to go back to their hometowns and reunite with their family. We are now putting him back in the municipal for ensuring that the Human Services agency hes overseeing the program between itself and the department homeless port of housing. And they will be in your reporting. And so we feel like this way, theres no way it can be sidelined again, very in the bureaucracy or an afterthought. Weve got over half an inch of richmond a little under that in nevada, north bay really picked up the biggest totals on this one. You can see over 3 tenths of santa rosa and napa, San Francisco about a quarter inch in san jose. Not a whole lot. And frankly, a lot of folks didnt get a lot in the east bay and the inner east bay and then in the south bay, temperatures are running a little bit cooler than they were this time yesterday. So a little more brisk, but not bad, right . So 57 degrees right now, downtown San Francisco. Weve made it to 60 degrees in hayward and oakland. 61 in concord and san jose sitting at 62 degrees. Winds picking up just a little bit. But its just a bit of a breeze. You can see its a bit of an onshore flow thats going to change as we get later into the weekend. Weve got a little offshore wind thats going to be coming our way. And some of it has to do with the fact were going to see a lowpressure system moves through tonight. Well see those clouds start to pick up tonight. Turn into some showers in the overnight hours in particular, temperatures will be relatively warm because of all of that cloud cover out there. But as we take a look at stormtracker 4, you can see a very well defined it very familiar front. Thats a sitting to the north and west of us starting to bring some rain and some mountain snow and thats going to be headed our way as we get into the evening. Ill be back a little bit. We learned about this over the weekend and today were getting reaction now from oakland city leaders. Kron fours also the money and has the story. Signs in front of to taco Bell Locations in oakland, read their dining rooms are closed, one on 35th. The macarthur and the other on the embattled heggen berger road. A major thoroughfare leading up to the airport. The taco bell employee tells kron 4 the restaurant has had to do this because people have been causing trouble inside. Oakland Councilmember Dan kalb suspects. Why the areas being targeted by criminals . Its not so much says theyre the airport as it is near near for freeway. A freak business corridors that are near freeway onramps. Our our target because that that they they commit their crime and they go jump on the freeway and get out of the air and thats hard to find them. And so thats why i want to see hightech security cameras on on freeway onramps. Talk about Public Relations rep sent the following statement saying, quote, providing a safe environment for team members and customers is the priority of taco bell restaurants. The Franchise Owner and operator has informed us that they are consistently evaluating and working to ensure a safe environment by implementing procedures such as closing dining rooms and hiring Security Guards. And theyve taken extra measures to meet with local Law Enforcement. Oakland Councilmember Noel Gallo says the city is facing an emergency and if it takes bringing in the National Guard and other local and state Law Enforcement agencies and its time to call for backup. And now also on hand barker road announced its closing its oakland location after 18 years of business citing safety concerns. Councilmember kalb says the city is in the middle of implementing his Public Safety plan that was passed last fall. That plan includes doubling the department of violence prevention budget, prioritizing Violent Crime with the help of fbi. Using opd over time, prioritizing hiring 911, dispatchers to improve Response Time as well as instituting walking beat officers and visible patrol and business corridors. Yesterday, for instance, we learned the team plans to release defensive tackle eric armstead. He was the longest tenured 49 or 9 years with the franchise. Team captain. He didnt agree to the teams request to restructure his deal with a pay cut. Now the fortyniners also reportedly asked fullback kyle use check to take a pay cut and work with linebacker fred warner to restructure his deal. This all could be to give them some wiggle room to sign a big free agent. Theyre eyeing or it could be to extend the contracts of some players currently on the roster. Sure. Various war Deommodore Lenoir jennings and of course Brandon Aiyuk all candidates for new deals and a lot more money. This offseason. Heres what lynch said about a potential extension last week at the nfl combine we have some challenges. Josh jacobs, according to some reports jacobsen, the Green Bay Packers have now agreed to a deal. No word on how long how much its worth. The packers just released their starting running back. Aaron jones jacobs is expected to fill that role with the cheese heads. And jacobs was drafted by the raiders in 2019 and has spent his nfl career with the team. Jacobs is coming off a bit of a down year last season. Only rushing for a little more than 800 yards and scoring 6 touchdowns the year before he had more than 2000 allpurpose yards and 12 touchdowns. But this is going to be kind of quick and its out of there by tuesday, both for us and for them. And then i want to run this little longer to show you how lovely its going to get. Once that system moves through. So we do still have a a Winter Weather advisory that is up for tahoe. And you can see theyre expecting about 4 to 10 inches of snow above 5,000 feet. That could make travel a little tough at times. Some gusty wind will be part of this, too. That advisory goes until 5 oclock on tuesday. So that when you dont really want to be traveling there it is. When takes off and head, then and again, you can see its not a huge deluge of snow, but it will bring some of that snow, especially up to our peaks to kind of keep the skiing season going. As far as our snowpack is concerned. Weve done really, really well. And you can see where were at percentage wise of normal. So the key right now is to get these little systems that come in reinforce it as we get through this month of march. Before we get through our water year. So were looking good. I feel good about it. Its not the crazy season of last year, but it is just enough to make things being a very nice spot for us both with the snow and the rain. Heres a live look at stormtracker 4. As i mentioned as we get into the evening, it is a very classic looking lowpressure system thats going to roll through. There is some cool air behind it. Thats why were going to see some of that snow this rolling in. But after this rolls by whats going to be interesting as High Pressure starts to build in that low pressure system starts to drop down and we get a wind gradient here, setting up some offshore wind. You can see those wind barbs right that are showing us. So thats going to be we get into wednesday and thursday that youll notice that wind start to pick up. Having said that, youre also going to notice the sun and these gorgeous temperatures inland looking to get up into the mid 70s potentially and friday next weekend for Saint Patricks day in the parades in the festivities and the corn beef and getting eat looks fantastic. The price i could affect. The u. S. Economys recovery from inflation. Although gas prices usually go up this time of year because theres higher demand and that switch to the more expensive summer blend of fuel. So here in the bay area, gas prices are also going up. A gallon of gas is 0. 5 more expensive than last week and 0. 30 more expgnsive than last month. The most expensive gas that youll find this in San Mateo County 508, for regular throughout the north bay gas is above 5. Gas in Alameda County cost for 94. And you can find the cheapest gas in Solano County at 45. New report is revealing tuition rates at private schools across the bay area have skyrocketed in recent years. The San Francisco chronicle reporting the average tuition in San Francisco costs about 23,000 for private schools and 42,000 for high school and marin county tuition. Even more expensive at about 26,000 for Elementary School, even though student enrollment has dropped. 21 in San Mateo County, private schools cost about 22,000 to attend. Happening right now, theres an infant baby swing thats being recalled because babies might suffocate in it. Deputies with the Santa Clara County Sheriffs Office arrested 4 people for allegedly stealing over 3800 in merchandise from a target store in cupertino, 2 adults and 2 minors were caught stealing items such as tide pods headphones, pillows and cell phone accessories. The Sheriffs Office coordinated with the target Loss Prevention department as part of this blitz operation. The Sheriffs Office received over 11 Million Dollars in state grants to combat organized retail theft. Police in oakland need your help in identifying a man and recovering a dog that was taken during a burglary. So here pictures now the car and the man Police Believe are involved in this. Police say 3 people burglarized a business around 11 00pm tuesday near the Oakland Airport. Police say the dog here named ghost was taken during the burglary of his any information should Contact Oakland police. Kaiser oakland has a nurse there who says that her car was stolen right in front of her after her shift ended. And she was just trying to get home. Taylor bagley snapped this photo of the man sitting in her car before taking off that b says she was leaving work around 7 oclock friday night when she approached her 2021. Chevy parked in the kaiser garage near Broadway Macarthur freeway. She says she saw a man sitting inside of it with a laptop trying to start it. So she says a Security Guard called for backup to try and stop this robbery. But it took too long for them to get there. And when she called police, she says they told her to expect a long wait since they had a lot of other matters to be dealing with it. The nurse as she used to go down to her car and her lunch break. But a few months ago, kaiser said that memo to staff urging them not to leave during their shifts because of safety concerns. She says that she hopes both the city and kaiser will do more to protect people who work and utilize the hospital. At the end the day, we just want to feel safe lake being able to go to work into leaving, go home. And it just seems like thats not happening. And its sad because its not only us who work there, but these are patients who are coming in. These are Family Members who could receiving the worst possible news. And i live in. They can be done safely going to the hospital or safely go home. He says she found out from the guard that someone broke the window hours before coming back to steal the car. But she was not notified. Opd says this is still active investigation. Concord Police Arrested 2 people and issued several citations and toad 3 cars during a reckless driving crackdown. Officers say one case a driver was chased and arrested in fairfield after speeding away from a traffic stop. Police also broke up a sideshow in Pleasant Hill where thousands of dollars in damage was done to a private parking lot. Police are reminding people cars can be seas for up to 30 days for reckless driving. And it may also cost you about 3,000 to get your car back. In the north bay, Police Arrested a woman in vallejo for stealing a car as it was being detailed. Police say the carjacking happened last tuesday while ad taylor was cleaning customers. Toyota sienna police say the key is for mission when that woman jumped in and just took off, dragging the detailer about 20 feet before he let go. So she then eventually surrended to police near the intersection of sonoma boulevard and lemon street. The van has now been returned to its owner. Also the north bay, a Fairfield School resource officer was arrested after being accused of sending Inappropriate Text Messages to 2 teenage girls. Fairfield police say officer james lewis was working at Rodriguez High School when he sent those messages. Parents of those girls alerted the department. So hes now been booked into the Solano County jail and is facing a series of charges, including contacting a minor with intent to commit a crime. And in response to the ongoing investigation, the Department Posted on social media, quote, we are disappointed. Infuriated saddened by this information. Acts like these violate trust are wholly inexcusable and fail to exemplify what the fairfield Police Department stands for. The School District also offered some concerned be a social media saying childrens safety. Is there most priority . Use of force investigation is now underway in Southern California after a 15 yearold boy was shot and killed by san bernardino. Sheriffs deputies. So here is body camera footage from that incident probably should put out a warning that it might be difficult to watch. The boys family called 911 on saturday afternoon saying that he was attacking them and damaging their home. And when the first deputy arrived on scene, he says the 15 yearold ryan gainer immediately ran towards him with a 5 foot long belated garden tool. The deputy tried to get away, but the teen allegedly started chasing him. And so the deputies then eventually opened fire. They rushed boy to the hospital where he later died. Also developing at least 50 passengers were injured when a plane traveling from australia to new zealand experience, quote, a technical event. It happened this morning and let airline says the boeing 7 87 9 dreamliner suffered a glitch that caused it to suddenly lose altitude. Passengers and crew were, quote, thrown onto the roof. The flight landed on time in auckland 12, the injured passengers were taken to the hospital with a leaf. At least one person listed in serious condition. The department of justice is launching a criminal investigation into boeing. This is following the incident with that door plug blew off. Midair on the Alaska Airlines flight heading from oregon to Southern California. The wall street journal is reporting that boeing told Congress Last week it cannot find records for work done on that door. Panel. The ntsb is continuing to investigate as well. The faa is giving the company 90 days to show how it will fix Quality Control issues. All right. A live look outside right now from our camera showing us. Whats going on out towards the north. Its so funny. The tunnel there kind of looks like 2 eyes peeking out there from the rain headlines today. So it just haha. So clear out there can kind of see whats going on. Calais here with whats happening in the weather department. Yeah, hey there. So we do have some clouds and a Start Building in as we get into the afternoon. But right now its pretty nice out there. Taking a live look from the east bay. We do have a little rain on the way as we get into the evening. And the track that for you hour by hour. But i wanted to show you really quickly that it is shortlived by tomorrow afternoon will be clearing out. And then you can s get some really nice weather and some warmth thats going to be headed our way as we get towards the midweek timeframe and then into the weekend, its just looking fantastic. So lets take you hour by hour and show you these clouds increasing. This is about 5. 30, so rush hour. And i think were all get home, ok . But we will start to see some of that rain roll in about 7 oclock to the north bay and then it will continue to go down through the bay area. And a lot of it will come in in the overnight hours for many that are kind of from the Golden Gate Point south and to wake up tomorrow morning to some slick roads, a little bit of a sprinkle probably still happening as this starts to clear out and notice in the afternoon. Theres a little back edge to the systems the certainly the possibility of a little shower or 2 in the afternoon. Thats about 2 oclock before this is finally said and done. But when its said and done, its done and were going to be racing into a week full of sunshine and some warm temperatures and a little bit of wind. So lets talk about the rain totals between about a 10th of an inch and a quarter of an inch for the bay area. So this will be beneficial rain. When you hear that term, it really just means that the rain comes down. It gets absorbed into the ground that any problems and we dont have any flooding to be concerned about. And it will add to our totals. You can see the percentage of normal here. Were at 119 of normal in santa rosa, San Francisco 117 oakland, 89 of normal for our water year in means is that were in really good shape right now. As far as our our water year is concerned. And obviously our snowpack is doing really well, too. So heres the front thats going to be trekking through. You can see a very welldefined low pressure system there. And as we zoom in and you start to see some of those clouds starting to move into our viewing area, not really getting any of the rain yet. But as i zoom in a few little box on the radar there, right between cloverdale tanner is the indicating that thats where well start to see those showers. First, ill be back in just a bit. Well take a look at what i think is a spectacular 7 day forecast. Students at the university of california berkeley marching and protesting in response to what they say is a failure from the university. To respond to antisemitic violence on campus this afternoon, students were joined by alumni, faculty and allies. But theyre saying is that this protest is called liberate the gate. Students deserve safe access to campus. Demonstrators say its in response to the universitys failure to respond to antisemitic violence on campus. Organizers say propalestinian. The palestinian antiisrael protesters have blocked sather gate for weeks and Campus Police have cited the protest. Organizers is indicating that these date should not be blocked.
