Police have made arrests now into deadly shootings that happened last month and theyre now searching for a 3rd suspect. The first shooting happened on february. 18th in a parking lot at s a Shopping Center on story road. Police say people were attending a vigil when someone shot a man and a woman. The man identified as 26 yearold joe duran died at the scene and police have arrested a man named juan perez for the shooting on march. First in san jose, hes been booked into the jail. Now. Second shooting happened overnight, february 20 night parking lot on moore park avenue. Police say 34 yearold jose ron, we is was shot and found in a car. Police arrested denzelle brown for that shooting. But theyre also still looking for a another man in connection with that and they are looking for the motive for both of those shootings. Lets head to the east bay because oakland Police Arrested a minor in connection to the shooting killed u. S. Store clerk earlier this year. Officers jed i was on eve is working his shift at orlandos market on linden street, january 6. What a group robbed the store and shot him. Officers say i was on drove himself to the hospital where he died. He leaves behind 4 children. A 10 yearold boy has been hospitalized with serious injuries after he was struck by a car yesterday morning in dublin. He was riding his bike around 08 00am in the area of on a drive. And chatham street where he was hit sub just across from dublin, high school. The driver did remain at the scene and is cooperating with the police 703, is the time. And tonight, gilroy students and families are going to be rallying because they want to see more safety at their schools and they want more transparency about whats going on there and trespassed onto the luigi, a priya Elementary School campus last week. And 2 days after that, the school went into lockdown because of a gas leak in a neighboring home. And the parents, the district say they want to know more about what goes on on campus, about safety. Neighbors reacting to a tragic discovery. This isnt a Santa Rosa Department hartman. A mom and her 10 yearold son were found dead in their home kron 4 Sarah Stinson has more. There are still so many Unanswered Questions about this case. Detectives spent more than 12 hours inside this santa rosa apartment trying to get the answers. I spoke with the mother and sons next door neighbor who says this does not feel real. She says the 2 daily she cant believe theyre gone. Neighbors like her are rattled by this. People who live in the spring Lake Apartments in santa rosa woke up to crime tape surrounding their neighbors apartment wednesday morning. I was shocked because its just its such a. Hes community. Theres never any. Never any crime here. News quickly spread about Police Investigating the death of a mom and her 10 yearold son whose bodies were found inside their apartment on summerfield road. Santa rosa. Police say they got a call just before 8 from someone concerned about the 2. No details were given about the color detectives spent the day going in and out of the home collecting evidence, trying to figure out what happened. Investigators also collected evidence from a parked car since the childs death is involved. The domestic violence, assault team responded to the scene as well. Police say theres no known threat to the public, but people who live in this complex didnt find comfort in that. Its so vague. It doesnt really mean anything. Does i wouldnt dont think that what their next door neighbor says the mother and the child always seemed happy and she never heard anything out of the ordinary coming from their apartment. And hes been exposing himself essentially at retail stores, but they have not caught him, but they have identified him and he normally wears a mask. But surveillance cameras have helped with this. Theyve gathered about 3 to 4 photos of him and say hes being accused of exposing himself to people outside Shopping Centers and both antioch and brett, what the most recent case was reported last month. And according to brent would police, the suspect typically wears a mask and has a cross like tattoo on the back of his right arm. And then hes got some sort of the scripture you see theyre written on the back of his left arm. Theres another look at his face. They see if you are in the area, they want to warn you and you should be aware, especially if you have small children. Unfortunately, this is the second time in 2 weeks that someone is use Public Comment to make anti semitic remarks. Wilke says the 2 people have something in common. Neither of them live here in walnut creek. He does not represent our values and he is not welcome here. Another disturbing incident at the Walnut Creek City Council meeting. This man took to the podium tuesday night to spread hateful comments directed at the jewish community. And jewish Councilmember Kevin wilk whites are blamed for nearly all of societys problems because a disproportionate power. Well, jews control the media information, Federal Reserve in money. So they are the ones with disproportionate power. Theres a proverb that you will cry out in pain as he strikes you as he walked away. Councilmember wilke tried to get more information from him. I think thats where Mister Hassan was from. You can hear them and respond off mic saying hes an american citizen. Wilke says he believes people like this are doing this to normalize hate speech. But wilks says he wont tolerate it. We do respond. This comes just 2 weeks after another man who identified himself as scotty. Spewed hateful comments and used a racial slur while wearing a shirt with the words white power on it. He also criticized city leaders for ending virtual Public Comments. Wilke says theres not much they can do to prevent these comments, but hell always fight back against hate in walnut creek. Of fentanyl overdoses and they might not even realize that fentanyl was in the drug they took. Thats what the Public Health officer has to say. Theyre very concerned that people are taking fentanyl. Thats in multiple drugs and theyre unaware. People may not recognize that fentanyl is included in some sense theyre taking if theyre taking illegal substances, it could well be contaminated with fentanyl power and okay. So heres whats going on with this story. Is the federal Drug Enforcement agency. Which is the dea. They say that the opioid is 100 times stronger than morphine and its 50 times more powerful than heroin. 2 milligrams of fentanyl equates to a deadly dose. Well, stop with the investigation led Alameda Police to a pretty extensive fencing operation. Police say they found more than 85,000 in stolen merchandise and cash. Some of the items are even still tagged on hangers. Ready for resale. Allen is police chief says as officers teamed up with the Highway Patrol organized Retail Crime Task force tracking down a truckload of stolen items. Several stolen vehicles after serving a search warrant at a home in oakland last week. The chief says investigators 0 in a home after finding those items. Police arrested one person, but they expect to make more arrests. 7. 36 right now and a legal victory for a former safeway employee who was fired after she tried to stop a shoplifter. A judge ruled in her favor. Kron fours. Dan thorn has more. Former safeway employee Antoinette Baez says she lost her job at this store in san mateo after trying to do the right thing. Surveillance video from february 2023. Shows baez and another worker confronting a suspected shoplifter. The persons arms filled with 500 worth of groceries. Baez says they did not pay for the confrontation cost baez and the other employee, their jobs and they would rather do that. People just steal from the store. Have an employee. And anyway interfere with the theft. So its basically an and open house for thieves by his attorney Neil Eisenberg says safeway has been cracking down on workers instead of thieves. Safeway fired by as in may 2023 and over the next several months, baez was unable to collect Unemployment Benefits because safeway said she was terminated for misconduct. Shes a single mother. She has had no income. And no benefits for the last year. And she hasnt been. And that be because . Her only job experience as being a cashier. It safely. Baez took her fight to the Employment Development department. And finally, this month, a judge ruled she was let go for performing her duties. The ruling means she will now get Unemployment Benefits from the time she was terminated. Eisenberg says after 22 years of working at safeway, baez deserves better. He was an exemplary. And coy and they simply kicked curb. Eisenberg says that he is planning on filing a lawsuit against safeway seeking punitive damages of up to a Million Dollars for his client. He says its not just about the money, but about the message that safeway employees should be treated better. We have reached out to safeway seeking comment on this. Best kept secret for the past 14 years, sonya youth has been bringing back the music now as the ceo of music for minors, a nonprofit in the bay area. Shes trying to change the lives of students through music. I felt a lot of people need to know about this under her leadership. The program has expanded and is now in schools across the peninsula, spanning from south San Francisco to san jose growing from 7,000 kids. A 26,000 students and 13 School Districts with the majority of their work focused on underrepresented communities. Knew that to have a greater impact we needed to do kind of districtwide because its really important to us that all kids have the opportunity. So we do core music, education elementary move focus on elementary because thats where the biggest void programs or money as well. Then use as a great example of seeing this program in motion is at jason dahl Elementary School in san jose where for now the program is fully subsidized. And has been going on for the past 3 years. Well, a former walgreens pharmacist was charged with murder after reportedly selling Illegal Drugs to a woman in morgan hill overdosed. Investigators say they found a small plastic bag with a walgreens local on it at the womans home. She died last month when she was poisoned by a mix of cocaine, fentanyl and other drugs. Investigators say they found messages on her phone from the former farmer says when they were setting up a drug deal, varma says hes set to make their first appearance in court sometime this week. And thats something that this group wants looked into time now is 7. 52. And theres a new start of the study about soda. They say too much soda can have a lasting effect on your heart. Kim posey has more on that. So heres what the study said. If you drink 2 leaders or more diet soda in a week, which is about one of these per day, then you increase your risk by 20 . Doctor Christopher Porterfield at the Medical Center of aurora says this study published in the journal of circulation is the first to show an association between artificially sweetened drinks and Atrial Fibrillation or a a is an irregular heartbeat that some patients describe as a flutter in their chest. And it is the leading cause of stroke in the u. S. The biggest problem is stroke risk. And so as patients older, it increases the risk of clot forming and causing a stroke. The other thing is if your heart rates not control, that can cause heart failure. The study looked at other beverages as well and found drinking the same amount of sugar added drinks could increase your risk by 10 .
