Their investigation here along winton. They had been here since early in the morning after an officer was injured during a pursuit of multiple suspects. According to Hayward Police around 5. 30, wednesday morning, an officer responded here to the 2500 block of west wind avenue on reports of a burglary according to police. When the officer arrived on scene, he saw multiple suspects fleeing the area. The officer pursued but lost control of his car and crashed into a ditch a few blocks away along cabot boulevard. He suffered minor injuries. A fire hydrant was also damaged in the crash. The suspects got away. Following the pursuit, Hayward Police obtained a warrant and searched the building along wit and where this all began. They also interviewed neighbors in the area and collected evidence so far, investigators have not identified any suspects or released a vehicle description. Theyve also not said if anything was stolen during the alleged burglary in hayward. Charles clifford kron, 4 news. Tuesday was super tuesday here in cifnia. It still split right down the middle and President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump will move on to the general election in november. Prof f the San Francisco measure that would require those receiving city public assistance benefits to participate in treatment for drug dependence was passed by voters. And today, people who were opposed to that measure are sharing their concerns about what will happen now moving forward. Kron fours Tiffany Justice joins us to live with the latest here. Thanks for joining us. Tiffany. Yes, second. Director Jennifer Freking buck says shes not surprised that the measure pass because voters want to do something about this issue. But she also says measure f is a step back. You know, these are major steps backwards. Proposition f passing tuesdays primary with 63 of the vote, the measure will require those receiving public assistance benefits to go through drug screenings if they are believed to be using illegal drugs. Thats a move. Jennifer freeing buck with the coalition on homelessness says will create even bigger problem. Its really because were in the middle of an unprecedented overdose epidemic, which is sad. We have 813 people dying last year from an overdose freedom but believes this is going to be another roadblock for those in need of welfare services. She also believes voters were misinformed. Right now we have hundreds of people every month to get cut off of welfare are ready because its such a complicated unnamed bureaucracy. Just for missing appointments. And this is just going make a more convoluted bureaucracy. Prop at was placed on the ballot by San Francisco mayor london breed on wednesday. Mayor breed said that the measure is going to be an important new tool to get people into treatment and to create more accountability. When refusing help, its a measure she says had support from those in the community free. Ken buck disagrees. The workers are very unhappy with this measure. They were not consulted, nor were diction specialists or anyone else. Actually the writing it. I want to came about because of people in the recovery community. People working on accidents, pay solution. People might. We need overcome the land treat people who actually worked to try and help people get the cheaper than the support that they need. Kron 4 political analysts in sonoma, state, Political Science professor david mcewan shares why he believes this measure passed with a majority voters were guard lists of whether theyre liberal or conservative are concerned about the use of public dollars, particularly for vulnerable populations while at the same time protecting them. Property expands police drone usage and public camera surveillance, including the use of facial recognition without approval from the Police Commission or the board of supervisors. It also limits the amount of Patrol Officer the amount of time a Patrol Officer has to spend doing paperwork by making body camera video satisfy officer reporting requirements. It makes Police Policy changes by the commission slower mandating a threemonth waiting period for Community Feedback through public meetings. Mayor london breed voicing her support of this measure saying this year, im grateful to the voters for their passage of prop ee which will allow us to build on the progress were delivering on Public Safety and San Francisco by supporting the work of our Police Officers expanding our use of technology and getting officers out from behind their desks and onto our streets. We will continue in our mission to make San Francisco a safer city. The San Francisco department of elections is saying they still have about 111,000 ballots left to count. This does include 103,000 vote by mail ballots. And 7500 provisional ballots. The last update from the department of elections is showing nearly 105,000 votes have been counted. Officials hope to have all the ballots counted within the next few days. But one of the super tuesday primaries to donald trump. In all likelihood donald trump will be the republican nominee when our Party Convention meets in july. In a post on truth. Social donald trump bragged about his super tuesday victories. But democrats say tuesdays results should be a warning sign for republicans. Joe biden get much better in the primary as percentage against his opponents. And donald trump did against his opponent. Haley stopped short of endorsing the former president wednesday. She says trump must now convince moderate republicans to vote for him in november. And i hope he does in Associated Press survey shows as many as 76 of haley supporters in early primary states like New Hampshire and South Carolina say they would not vote for trump come november. But on capitol hill, republicans are uniting behind trump. What will be a rematch. And we like that rematch. Even the holdout, most notably Senate Republican leader mitch mcconnell, whos got a rocky relationship with trump, announced his endorsement. And i said would support the nominee for president. Even if it were the former President Biden is now trying to woo some of haley supporters. In a statement today, he praised the former governors campaign. Instead, there is room for her supporters in his campaign. But now washington, Raquel Martin, back to you. And now we talk about our forecast with this live look outside looking at the clouds here from our mount tam cam and its raining parts of the east bay, south bay peninsula as well. Yeah. Would you believe got hail and some spaces right now talk all about this . Were taking a live look in san jose. You can see just how ominous the clouds are this afternoon in parts of the south bay, the east bay and also along the peninsula. But want to take you first up to fairfield where we just have a special Weather Statement put out by the National Weather service where they just had some hail reported there. So i just want to be on the lookout as these kind of wild cells are popping up and causing some flooding concerns. So flood advisories are in the yellow boxes that you see and that does include that includes dublin hayward livermore. You can see why when you start to notice all the oranges and the reds that are popping up there showing that a very heavy rain right is happening. Same story as we get down towards fremont as until about 5 oclock 5. 15, before this is going to start to wrap up a little bit and move on. I think by 7 oclock tonight will be completely out of here. But right now along the peninsula in burlwngame, in highlands, in san mateo, under that flood advisory also is this very heavy rain is coming down. And unfortunately, you know, right along some of our highways as well. You can see it in los and then as we move to the south, there we get just south of san jose. If youre headed on the highway down towards morgan hill, another flood advisory is just popped up there as well. And just to give you an indication of some of these rain rates, look at where these kind of reds and oranges are. 1. 0, 3, 4 inches per hour. Now, that doesnt mean its going to come down continuously for an hour. But when it does come down, thats how heavy this rain is coming down and how quickly. And thats why it becomes very dangerous. The most recent case reported last month, according to brett with police, they say that the suspect usually as wearing a mask and has a cross like tattoo on his right arm and the script on the back of his left arm. Police want to remind the community to stay alert and provide any details they can about this man coming up here 3, another incident of anti semitic remarks at the Walnut Creek City Council meeting. The Council Member who was targeted in those comments and what the council is going to do now. A shoplifting investigation in alameda leads police to an extensive fencing operation resulting in the recovery of more than 85,000 in stolen merchandise. Kron. 4 sweet. All reports one arrest has been made. 75,000 in stolen merchandise. More than 10,000 in cash and several stolen cars recovered. Plus one arrest and i expect more arrests to before come out and meet the police. Investigators are still documenting the inventory recouped in a nearly monthlong retail theft operation. Chief shot joshi says this case started in early february. Thats when the shoplifting incident was reported at old navy and the islands south shore shopping center. Work various leads and were able to odentify a location in oakland where we operation a fencing operation was occurring during the course of the investigation. Chief joe, she says the stolen stuff was traced residents in oakland. There investigators tied stolen items for multiple retailers in several cities to an elaborate fencing. And that approach includes holding thieves accountable by making arrests and recovering merchandise, but also going after the sellers running the fencing operations. Another disturbing incident unfolding at the Walnut Creek City Council meeting Council Members and community members. Her 2 minutes of an antisemitic speech during Public Comments last night. So the sky here who did not identify himself, took to the podium at the start of Public Comments and he just speed off hateful comments that were aimed at members of the jewish community, including at the jewish Council Member kevin wilk. And this is following a similar incident just 2 weeks ago. And in that instance, a man who identified himself as scotty also said, a lot of really hateful things while wearing this shirt that said white power on it. He also slams city leaders for ending the virtual Public Comments. And they ended it because people are saying hateful comments over zoo. So now response, the incident, the wallet. To this incident walnut creek, the city council. Call these comments horrific, adding that the person who spoke is not a member of the community. They released a statement that reads in part of walnut creek is an Inclusive Community that values and promotes the diversity of our residents, including the ability to observe their chosen religion. They go on to say while we will always respect the publics rights to free speech, we will always condemn hate speech at every opportunity and did so last night. Getting all choked up. Looking at the whats going on here in walnut creek . Its pouring its low here on this roadway whats going on. Are there more big rain storms coming that way . Well, what it is, the cells are popping up all over the place. And the east bay is one of the places the peninsula, the east bay. Weve even gotten some hail reported now in fairfield live. Look outside. You can see the very ominous clouds here as we take a look from mount tam. Now its all of this low pressure system. And while it is bringing heavy rain to central and Southern California, its still throwing some energy our way. And what sets doing is juicing up some of these cells in creating incredibly heavy downpours. So what weve got going on here are flood advisories that are popping up because its coming down so quickly, right . The rain rates are very, very high here. So lets take a look at some of these and kind of zoom through it take you over to the east bay. Now, first again, you see these oranges and reds popping up and that shows you where the cells are. But san ramon, dublin hayward, youre seeing some of this certainly along many of these highways as well in the east bay, not a very Pleasant Place to be right now. Taking a little farther south. So fremont and then as we head a little bit more over to the east, still near sunol and then lets go down to the south bay. It is not exactly san jose, but just south of san jose along 101 towards morgan hill. Some of these are just really flying up. You see those really deep reds are that means an incredibly high rate of rain coming down. Then we go over to the peninsula and we start here in sunny ville, los altos hills. You can see also woodside, youre included in this, too. And then we move towards san mateo. And again, you see where some of these showers are just getting really crazy really quickly. So my advice is to stay off the roads. This isnt going to last for too long. It really is only till about 5. 36, oclock tonight. And then this will all start to slide to the south and head away from us now we are going to see a big change in our pattern once we get later into thats going to move in. So what happens is that low pressure tracks to the east and then High Pressure builds in and that means we actually dry out we get some sunshine and some warm temperatures for thursday and friday. So when you look at the totals here, you can see all of thats going to Southern California. So we just have to get through the next couple of hours. And then once that passes us by we are effectively done with this and then we get a really nice forecast for about 2 days. And then we got a little rain on the weekend. But lets focus on thursday and friday. Theyre gorgeous. Theyre warm cant wait to get there because i dont really care for this dangerous weather thats out there right now. So please be careful. Inappropriately benefited 5 and exemption in the states new fast food minimum wage law. We have learned now that owner and donor says he will raise the minimum wage for his employees after law. And a lot of republicans quickly demanded an ethics investigation newsom and flynn have denied ever discussing this minimum wage lot together with newsom noting his legal team believes the panera bread is not actually exempt. Flynn flynn says exempt or not. He promises to increase the minimum wage to 20 at his california panera. Bread restaurants. Hannah gutierrezreed of Involuntary Manslaughter in the Fatal Shooting of a cinematographer by Actor Alec Baldwin during a rehearsal. The verdict against the movie weapons supervisor came at the close of a twoweek trial. The death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins baldwin was pointing a gun at her on the set of the western movie. Rust in october of 2021 when the gun went off, killing her and hurting a director. The verdict now asides new blame after an assistant director pleaded no contest to negligent handling of a firearm last year. Prosecutors allege that gutierrezreed brought live ammo onto the set of rust will also disregarding basic industry gun safety guidelines. The Involuntary Manslaughter charge carries a maximum penalty of 18 months in prison and a 5,000 fine baldwin has been indicted on a charge of Involuntary Manslaughter and has pleaded not guilty. His trial is set to start in july. All right. Heres what looks like outside right now at San Francisco International Airport to see if the runways are going to get wet there. Kyle is tracking several storms that are rolling througlots of activity out there. Rain wise. Yeah, absolutely. Its a bit of a busy afternoon and a good afternoon to kind of stay put if you dont have to head outside to take a live look at san jose right now. And you see kind of how ominous the skies look, we do have some energy that is rolling right through the bay area right now. And you can see it over the last couple of hours. So its really just popped up. And this is the nature of kind of juiced up storm cells that are quickly kind of rolling through and then moving on. So for the next hour and a half or so, theyre going to be with us. But then theyre out of here. So if you can stay put highly recommended resuming here, some of these you can see right around morgan hill right now under a flood advisory. So everywhere you see the yellow box, thats a flood advisory where you see those oranges and yellows, those heavy rain rates starting to happen with some of these cells. Just to give you example of where you see some of the orange, the reds, thats about a half an inch an hour of rain coming down. So again is coming up very quickly can make it very difficult to see on the roads all along the peninsula here from sonny bill to palo alto up to san mateo. Until about 5. 30, were going to see the cells continue to roll and just make like a little unpleasant. Also hearing right now from the National Weather service putting out the statement that some hail has popped up in and around san remote. So you to in san ramon right of that flood advisory. And again, you see where these are just rolling through very quickly. So if youre caught out in this, first of all, youre going to get rained on that. Second off in your car is going to a dangerous on the roads. So again, if you can delay any trips i would do that you can see is also down as you head towards fremont. And then as we zoom out here, kind of give you the bigger picture. Weve got this low pressure system that this is all circulating around, right . So its counter clockwise circulation now heavier showers are certainly being funneled into central and Southern California. Theyre even getting a little snow in some of the Southern California mountains as all of this moisture roles in it will track down and away from us in about an hour and a half. As far as these showers are concerned. So just hang in there. As you can see as we look to the northeast, starting to get a little bit of blue sky that is popping out in places so we do it. Just have to hang on for a couple of hours. But again, my advice is stay put. And if you know, anyone whos about to head out on the roads, give them a call and let them know this is happening. But i kind of want to start with the race for President Donald Trump versus former president up no former President Donald Trump versus joe biden a rematch is what im trying to get out here. And nikki haley dropped out of the race today even though she said she wasnt going to do it and she kind of put out there say that trump needs to kind of woo her. Her supporters and President Biden said what . You know, theyre welcome to come. Join him. Im wondering what isnt nikki haley support are supposed to do now . Yeah. I think nikki haley supporters are republican moderates and some republican conservatives who just arent comfortable. Donald trump. One of the things that i think is a telltale sign ever since iowa and maine and iowa, New Hampshire and even South Carolina, trump is winning but hes winning basically his own people and hes not winning new people over. And i think that as part of a challenge for him is to expand his base beyond the primaries. This is what parties do. Both parties are now supposed to pivot away from their core issues and now speak to more. So the consensual issues to try to draw more independent people who are thats partisan onto their sides. So nikki haleys voters, they may have just used her to express their dissent with trump. And there really was a lot of it. Looking for biden, hes not really being primary. So he has a united party behind him. Wheres nikki haley signal . Even 2 Unsuccessful Campaign that theres a lot of disenchantment and disillusion with donald trump as a candidate for the republican party. What does nikki haley do now . Does she try to become the Vice President ial a contender there with trump . Does she have her sights set on Something Else or shoe waiting again until 2028 so as you welcome the invitation to be the Vice President. But from what i heard this morning, one his operatives, theres no way but with a pick, nikki haley will see if he has a strategic need for her, which he doesnt because he won her state you know, it would you know, she might be called on, but hes got a list of people. And says shes not on it. So i think shes going to stick around and try to figure out which took forgive her and make some sort of appointment if he were to get reelected. But thats a long way from here. And now we have. President joe bidens, a state of the Union Address tomorrow. I kind of look at it is to it that looking at 3 ways actually won it sort of a campaign speech. Hes got a great audience, primetime coverage. He needs to lay out what we have accomplished so far. And with that, that administration accomplished so far. What he sees now Going Forward and also really show that he can like handle that job. What are you going to be looking for . I mean, biden knows how to do this. Hes hes been in the senate for the 40, 50 years. On the other side aisles. He knows hes given the state of the Union President ial address in the past. He knows what marcus a hit. Hes going to signal the successes hes had with the bill back better plan and the inflation reduction act. Hes going to talk about 35 prescriptions for insulin and all of his successes. Biden has an incredible record to run even know if you disagree politics. Thats a different question. But he has accomplished a great deal in terms of domestic infrastructure development, for example, like no president in over 200 years. So he has a record to run trump is unusual situation because hes actually an incumbent whos out of kind of like over cleveland back in the 18 90s. Hes trying to get back in office. So he has a record that can be judged. And obviously the voters repudiated it rejected the first time. So well see how its presented. The bidens going to make his case for his accomplishments and for what Congress Needs to do in the future. Hes probably going to talk about the border and about agreement around the border. Hes going look for his vulnerabilities and try to speak to issues. I think what young people and and also resolving you know, the tensions the middle east that have really hurt him with certain vote constituencies here in the in the u. S. And you see that impacting his policy positions over in the middle Eastern Region right now. So again, i think biden is going try to use the momentum of the primary victories. Hes had to signal that he is the man for the job. And thats what hes got to prove to the voters for the next 6 to 8 months is that he is fit for the job, not to all that hes effective.
