Time now is 10 00 02am, go on to the Election Results from super tuesday . A big night in california. Here are some of the headlines coming out. A democratic congressman adam schiff and republican steve carr. Garvey are going to be facing off in november for the u. S. Senate seat in california, former san jose mayor sam liccardo lees in the race to replace retiring congresswoman anna eshoo and that race. And then the only statewide proposition as prop one in a tight race with the yes leading the nose right now. But by not even one percentage point. And then theres the National Battle for president President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. They will be battling it out because they won the primaries. Trump won the primary and we have more on the from how hes alone in this race. Now well have the very latest on that in just a few minutes. Its been my privilege to work with her when she was the head of the intelligence committee. And when i was working on the senate side when she was on the senate side is working on the house side. You could adam schiff getting shouted out by propalestinian protesters interrupting his victory speech last after he advanced, as we said to the november election to succeed the late senator dianne feinstein, schiff and republican steve garvey will be facing each other in november. As we said, and you can see 100 of the precincts reporting there. So these 2 are left. They both beat out a representatives katie porter and representative barbara lee, our capitol correspondent Eytan Wallace has more. Well, what these results you have to imagine republican steve garvey is one happy camper, but perhaps even happier democrat adam schiff. This is exactly what he wanted. Here they are. Garvey was pulling neck and neck with shift leading up to election day or vine. Democratic Congressmember Katie Porter had been pulling 3rd in this race and oakland democratic our summer. Barbara lee have been pulling in 4th. All 4 of them addressed supporters on election night. It looks like were going to the general 80s and gentlemen. If you had my back every step of the way. We feel good about where we are right now. Say tonights the first game of a doubleheader, the second game is going to be daunting. It will be almost like a super bowl of the our 4th quarter or 8 innings. But i think it should be exciting for all of i mean, its actual competition. This has been quite a phenomenal, multiracial, multigenerational, progressive. Movement that we have put together throughout. And i just want to thank everyone. We know that tonight. We will come up short. Let me also say this. Opponents through everything every trick. Millions of dollars. Every trick in the playbook to knock us off our feet. But im Still Standing in the high heels. Obviously not the result. Katie porter and hoped for. But this is shift one of things to go. He spent millions of dollars on advertisements, touting garbage, conservative views, trying to bring him into the spotlight in hopes of facing garvey in the runoff. Thats because in california registered democrats outnumber registered republicans by about 2 to one. Thats why adam schiff is confident he can beat garvey in the november general election. But garvey says he will put up a fight reporting in sacramento. Im a tom wallace. Now back to you. In san voters have passed proposition e that revamps the Police Policies to make it easier them for them to fight crime. Kron fours Michael Thomas is at city hall with more on that. This initiative is part of her plan to offer support to those with Substance Abuse and hold them accountable as well if they refuse help. That measure passed with 63 of the vote. Gratitude for the outpouring of support weve received from all across our great country. But the time has now come to suspend my campaign. And that was the big news that left donald trump alone in the republican field. Nikki haley bowing out. She suspended her campaign for the republican president ial nomination. That announcement she made that you saw there that happened earlier this morning. As for president trump, he was a big winner, one, everything and california. But from on which haley won, she did not endorse donald trump, but now he stands alone versus joe biden. Democratic congressman adam schiff and republican steve garvey are going to be facing off in november. They are the 2 big finishers in californias u. S. Senate primary. Former san jose mayor sam liccardo is leading so far to replace retiring congresswoman anna eshoo. Take a closer look at that. Also, the only statewide proposition prop one looks like its a tight race too close to call right now. The u. S. Is beat the nose. But by less than a percentage point and President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump easily win the california primary and we will be following their fight as well. Now, another lets go back to the california Silicon Valley congresswoman anna eshoo retiring and former san jose mayor sam liccardo leads in that race for district 16. Dozens and dozens of supporters of former san jose mayor sam liccardo came out to this cantina in campbell to congratulate him saying the numbers look good so far. Look saying hes staying cautiously optimistic. That the matter will be in and i will be working very hard between now and i said not on 2500 in this short i got a lot more goes not from San Jose City hall to washington, supporters of sam liccardo cheered him on as Election Results started to come in showing him as the front runner for the 16th congressional seat. Many saying they feel confident in the former san jose mayor being on the November Ballot and eventually becoming their next congressman. Im quite confident hes a pretty much ahead in the polls, i think is going the right thing to bring us bring on november. I because hes the guy you can call on the phone and say. Ive got a problem. Ive got an issue. What can you do for and he knows what he can do for you. 11 candidates are vying for the seat that was held by congresswoman anna eshoo for more than 3 decades representing Silicon Valley and San Mateo County. This is a full circle moment for as he has previously worked shoot. I was an her very First Campaign in 1992. La says if elected to congress, he would fight for reproductive rights and gun violence as well as homelessness. What i keep hearing from residents or on the phone they want to see federal Government Take Action on homelessness. Its not just a crisis year. Its a crisis of the 44 cities in this country where we have more than 1000 unhoused residents look vows to work with republicans on the other side of the aisle. His agenda resonating with young voters like to what you can as a member of hopefully a democratic majority in congress. The cargo says he only had 13 weeks to gather all these volunteers and knock on doors. He said he personally knocked 2500 doors and hes hoping that hes able to spend the next couple of months to get more votes so that he can win his seat in congress. Im sara stinson reporting in campbell kron. 4 news. Santa clara county supervisor submitting it is looking to now the second spot in the november runoff. Ratiu see hes not far behind the car. Do with 18 of the votes in kron. Fours amanda hari has more on that. Theres still a lot of ballots yet to be counted. But joe summit, ian says he feels confident right now that he is going to remain in the top 2 city and hes running for california 16th Congressional District city and says the whole campaign was just 3 months and hes excited to have more time between now and november. He says some of his campaigns focus is our Affordable Health care. A womans right to choose and climate change. He says hes represented 14 of the 15 cities and towns in this district and he feels that gives him an advantage over his opponent. Im really looking forward to chance to have more of a person, the person campaign, whether thats going door to door, whether its in small group, conversations in somebodys living this 3 months, weve all just been through and we all have the same calendar, really did not lend itself to that. So a lot of emphasis expensive communication, tv media, a direct you know, all that has its place, but nothing takes the place of really being in touch with the folks that you aspire represent city and hes running to fill the Silicon Valley seat thats been held by representative anna eshoo for more than 3 decades. This election will go to a runoff between the top 2 candidates. Right now it looks like hell be facing former san jose mayor sam liccardo. We likely wont have all the results for a few days, but some indian says he feels confident that things are going to go his way in palo alto. Amanda hari kron, 4 news. And california voters have the opportunity to vote on the Behavioral HealthServices Program and bomb measure also known as proposition one. It makes it look like i have magical powers. Magic eraser and sheets make cleaning look easy. Its 10. 43 want to check out the weather and see when things are going to taper off for real for real. Exactly right. Because its been persistent. We are seeing out there right now. Definitely tapering off for the moment in San Francisco. A little bright spots here. And there. We are going to be seeing still some showers through the afternoon today. So not just yet time to put away the rain jacket, low Pressure Center to our south, resulting in consistent showers up and down the coastline. Not a lot of snow in the sierra. If you have plans on heading that direction, this is just a separate system that worked its way down the coast and it results in some heavy morning rain for the south bay. Indeed, a lot calmer for areas from palo alto to san mateo right now. Further north in the bay, a couple pockets that have been persistent around bolinas mount tam on up through inverness and point race. As for that low pressure area really just skirting west of the california shoreline, not doing a lot for the sierra in this one. Just a lot of rainfall for coastal spots. Theres your lingering showers from the peninsula up into marin county. We will see popup showers, especially in london this afternoon and a chance of a roll of thunder, too out towards the delta. Once the sun goes down and we reached the evening, though, we calm things down pretty nicely and are smooth sailing for several days ahead of us thursday and friday, tapping into a lot of sunshine. Nice weather to get back outside rainfall from this point forward, fairly minimal or most significant amounts will be down in the Santa Cruz Mountains with a few more areas of heavy rainfall for mountains above san jose. The sierra i mentioned not seeing a lot of new snow from this, but you sure did this past weekend and your snowfall totals are back up to where they should be, if not even over what our averages are for this time of year. So thats been great news to see here in the bay today. Expect a lot of 60s on the map. A few 50s out towards the coastline. All in all today is a good one to get outside. As long as you are prepared with that rain jacket, a mild feel to it. Not want to cancel many plans for you. Just want to be ready to go for this persistent. And at this point kind of stubborn showers, oakland down to Castro Valley at 63 conquered over double a home antioch at 63 degrees as well. Tomorrow we get all the sunshine that weve earned for friday. Also, sunny and our warmest of the forecast the weekend, a little bit of cloud cover, but model runs are projecting a dry weekend. Dont forget saturday night before you go to bed to adjust those clocks forward an hour as sunday, we will be springing ahead. Thank you, john. At 10, 46 ankron. 4 is your local election headquarters. Were seeing the results now from super tuesday. Roll in. And earlier we got a chance to talk with our political analyst michael yaki about the results. Joey, lets start something local or do you want to go for the for the big fish . Trump by choice for everyone have you with lets hope are eager to 100 that because it just happened within the last couple hours. Lets tap nikki haley and the fact was pretty great that she had for her, that she won vermont and historic but too little too late. She is out. I mean, not just know a lot of a lot, a little trump was winning over. 90 of the delegates. It is projected that probably would have wrapped up in a couple know, remaining states that you have a chance were hptalking about, you know, 100 that she would mean millions of dollars to keep going. I think your donors basically told her, you know, you find a good fight, but were not theres theres good money after bad. And theres just bad. And this is situation where she just couldnt sustain it. But the interesting point, lets not forget she did not endorse donald trump. She said she earned it. And in fact, your press secretary came out. Im not too long after she issued a statement to draw a contrast between joe biden statement which was warm hugs and Donald Trumps statement which was. Essentially carpet and nikki haley on the way out the door. So its going to be really interesting. Convention will be allowed to speak, will replaced. Those are the kinds of things better that shes going to trade leverage. I think for now to see whether or not she didnt buy anything from the trump point of view. Im not. She gives a clear and unequivocal endorsement Mitch Mcconnell just jumped on the bandwagon today. I think theyre going to shut her out. But which would be good for joe biden. So theres a little bit of a balancing act going up. Yeah, i mean, we saw biden statement this morning talking about, you trying to appeal today. Haleys your orders to cross the line. Yeah, exactly. And he wants hackings counting on that. You can see in states like virginia for that trump only did not a do not get, you know, like the 70 in beginning. Everywhere. Theres like in the mid 60s. You know back 35 40 the electorate who are republicans who didnt vote of the kind of crossovers joe biden wants there and wisconsin, michigan and other places in order to ensure that he can be reelected in november. Were talking about former president trumps campaign. I mean, what do you think it was this time around the gave him the advantage. Were seeing him move very swiftly here. Its its really about the change and in the Republican Party. Its its not the Republican Party that that i knew when i was growing up a lot of people knew it is very hard, right. And is it is dominated by maga you had a lot of medicare money to get an envelope local and state ballots last night. So this is a party you know, believes it is essentially the donald trump party. Its not really the Republican Party. Its a donald trump are going to be want to being a member of the party. Youve got this work fealty to donald trump look at look at mcconnell, someone who i think. We didnt. If you Trump Building code, which that would would lend a hand to raise a backup. But he endorsed them out today and just said, well, hes the is the clear candidate and thats what im going im going to vote was exactly the warmest the warmest friendlys endorsement political history. And we also the clear candidates the u. S. Senate. For california between schiff and garvey. And we also saw adam schiff be shouted out protesters for the gaza, the hamas and israel war and his speech. Yeah, was interesting. Garvey goes on first and does this very, you know, warms all shots. Were all ring kind of thing and adam schiff comes you can see what happens, which is that theres a big breakdown in security and staffing. There are a lot of people who are angry about in that and they intentionally shouted him down and it was unfortunate on any victor, injured tonight. But it also demonstrates to me one of great dangers that actually joe biden is facing in some of that in some of the swing states across the country. Michigan, minnesota, wisconsin, others is that because issue is one that is really gotten a lot a lot democrats let a young people the liberals people who would normally be comfortably in the joe biden camp against donald trump round up enough that their threat need to sit out the election and thats not good news for joe biden. And thats it in california. Even a progressive a state you saw last night that. If there is any sort of danger for through the unknown. Obviously the odds are heavily his favor. Registration is is want out of every 2 voters in this state votes democratic its its something where a i see white kennedy, a Republican Party that senator kennedy has been around 19 88 people. So was the last moment its clear that this is adams ships race to lose. But there are still ways you can lose it. And one of the ways he could lose it is democrats who are angry enough about the issue. Young people angry about issue, skip voting for him in november. So this is something that biden is going to have to address in the state of the union because this is really an adam schiff problem. Its a joe biden at the top of democratic ticket. Problem. And its one that they certainly do not want to have going into november. And i doubt they want to have a go into the chicago in in the convention later this summer. And this is just one of those clear passion issues are not unlike the vietnam war that that that poses existential threat to joe biden the Democratic Party going into the polls november. Okay. Very good. Thank you so much for your second. Michael. Just about done for a wednesday morning. Before we go, lets check in with jessica wills and see whats coming up on live in the bay today.
