Organizers of the campaign to recall Alameda CountyDistrict Attorney pamela price say they have enough signatures now. To get it on the ballot and put it to a vote. And in a social media post, thee said that they plan to deliver that petition of more than 110,000 signatures to the county registrar at 10 oclock this morning in response, supporters of price say that theyre going to demand that the california secretary of States Office individually review each signature. The county has 10 calendar days to count and verify all of those signatures. If the recall moves forward, its estimated to cost taxpayers between 15 20 Million Dollars for this recall effort. And we have some breaking news that the u. S. Supreme court just restoring Donald Trumps 2024 president ial primary ballots. It was a unanimous ruling where the justices rejected state attempts to hold the former president countable for the capitol riot. The justices ruled a day before super tuesday primary is that the state cannot invoke a post civil war constitutional provision to keep residential candidates from appearing on ballots. They say the power resides with congress. The courts move ends efforts in colorado, illinois, maine and elsewhere to kick trump off of the ballot because of his attempts to undo. Well, more than 20 million registered california voters received a ballot in the mail. But as for how many have actually voted, its not a lot. The ballots are out. But according to Political Data, inc, a Voter Information Service tracking ballot and voter trends of the 22 million ballots sent to registered voters in the mail. Just 2 and a half million have been returned. That means statewide turnout so far is just 11 . This is low turnout. Paul mitchell as the Vice President of Political Data inc. He says when its all said and done tuesday night based on the data trends he sees. Now turnout was slightly improved, but stay relatively low. His expectations come election night, probably a 3rd of voters returned. Their ballots may be fewer than that. And thats probably due to the fact that we just dont have a competitive democratic or republican primary at this point for president. He says trends suggest Younger Voters are staying home. This election while those 65 and older are voting electorate is going to return. A ballot is going to be close to 60 . Seniors were there about a quarter of the registered voters. Whats important is that when turnout drops california doesnt drop equally for all populations. This is a real negative impact on turnout among minorities, younger people renters and really does skew the kind electorate that will decide not only the u. S. Senate race but also local contest legislative races, congressional races, ballot measures all across the board. And speaking of the s. S. Senate race, a new la times uc berkeley poll shows for the first time republican steve garvey leading what democrat adam schiff just behind within the margin of error in reach of first, the survey shows democrat katie porter and 3rd and democrat barbara in for whats become more more striking as election day draws closer is help order in lee. To Progressive Democratic women how much theyre herman each other if one or the other of them were to stepped aside, its almost certain that the remaining candidates would be competing for first place in the almost certain to go on to the runoff. This all went down at around 12 10am, in the morning when the Santa Rosa Police officers went to a house after getting reports of a man brandishing a rifle. They try to deal with that situation at that particular location. But they say the man jumped into a car that led to a pursuit. And during the pursuit, according to investigators, the man gets out fires shots at Police Officers, their return fire very much and active crime scene. Back to you. All right. Okay. So lets switch gears here to the search is on for suspect. After a string of burglaries all happened in oakland. Yeah, they happen in the citys temescal alley and a number of people they say broke into stores stole merchandise. It all happened friday morning that the burglars ran off before police could get to the scene. Were from some Business Owners that were impacted by all of this. I got a call and the Early Morning on friday from our property manager. And soon as i saw his name on my phone in the early hours, i knew that something was not good or 2 guys. They came earlier in the night and jumps the fence and scope sally out and then they came back later on with the truck and they came and broke the windows and just filled their bags up and then took it out to the truck and drove off. So. Anybody with information is asked to contact the oakland police. Governor newsom is trying to help oakland. Just announced a 10 point plan to do so outlining strategies for street safety, reducing crime and beautification. You can see some of the things that he plans to do to help oakland out. As far as getting extra cameras in there, launching a Media Campaign outreach to the community. Supervisors say that this is nothing new. Theyve been doing this for years, but the state could help bolster these dan kalb, stalin. The help we can get from the state that you know, the open is not an island and weve always as many as most cities have you always have interaction within some reliance on federal and state assistance to do different things. Thats nothing unusual. And we just a little more assistance than we normally would otherwise here. The state is stepping up to kind of step up the things theyve already been doing and to add new things into that. And thats thats a good plan. Mayor sheng thao thinks its good to thanking the governor for his continued support. And by the way, the state is also investing resources to fight crime in oakland, as you probably know their deployment of the chp to oakland. They put about 120 officers in oakland and the chp office says that they had an operation where they arrested 71 people and they recovered more than 100 stolen cars. Well, on the peninsula, you have multiple people being displaced in apartment complex fire in mountain view, Center Family to the hospital. This was pretty early sunday morning on lesage avenue while batters had to cut open walls and ceilings to kind of planned out that fire. The 2 story, 4 unit apartment complex, preliminary investigation shows the fire started on the first floor laundry room damages are estimated to be around 500,000 family of 4.
