Opd says the hope is that with details coming in, its Surveillance Team will be able to catch the criminals possibly in real time, but also give them an idea of where these areas are being targeted. Take a listen to what opd had to say regarding the Pilot Program and what residents can expect of this weekend. Were going to have plainclothes teams, decoys air assets, mark units and what were trying to do is catch as many people as we possibly can burglarizing in the carson city. Its been a deal. Direct message would have details regarding the Photos Videos of the individuals, the vehicles involved and possibly a license plate. Of course, the crimes location. The Department Says they do want everyone to remain safe. So if you do see Something Like this happening, dont necessarily get involved in stay as far away as possible. And if you are deciding to get any footage to send in, they want you to do it from a safe area. But again, their biggest thing is not to get involved. They say that its going to be lasting for the next few days or so as to if it will be implemented on an ongoing thing. Time will tell. State senator scott wiener is announcing a bill that he says will make it harder for criminals to get away with the smash and grabs easier to convict them in court. What he wants to do is take away the requirement. The prosecutors have to prove the car was locked at the time of the breakin and now Something Like this failed to pass in 2018 2019 or 2019, but he thanks is going to be a success this time the introduction is going to happen in the state legislature when they reconvene the current law requires that the victim be physically present in the courtroom to testify. That the car was locked when it was broken into. But worst. With the rental car and worst is now 3,000 miles away. And theyre not going to come back to francisco. Testify that they locked the car where you might have a resident who simply doesnt remember whether they if the law passes, then you would need the you know, to be they went into person in person in court. The evidence will be in a few to show like this, all the smash windows and that proves okay. This happened and they think that that would help to convict people. And then the more people that convict, if you are, they say would be repeat offenders. Thats the goal. Now. Well, 905. Lets get to this other big story today. A woman and her husband are suing a luxury Bay Area Hotel claiming that one of its employees serve them a bottle of water. That was contaminated with a bodily fluid kron. 4 Sarah Stinson has a closer look at the Court Documents and what happened. Theyre also asking for a jury trial to settle this case. We reached out to ritz carlton and to the San Mateo County sheriffs office. We did not hear back in time for this report. Im sara stinson reporting in Half Moon Bay. Back to you. Its 908, and oaklands going to get a new police chief. The mayor says that the city will have a new chief by the end of the year. She says the commission has been working hard and will make recommendations to fill the position shortly. Im very optimistic that i will receive the 3 names they will recommend to me so that i can make a decision around the police chief. And so we we timeline. Were back on track. And so im excited for those efforts. And by next year, we will have our new police chief. Oakland to do with outage chief since the mayor fire Leronne Armstrong in february. Time now is 908, and we know its cold out there. But did you know that theres a big risk of fire there watching that for this weekend . Seems like a conflicting bits of information, cold, wintery feeling. But yet. Fire danger is high. This weekend. A kron fours will tran joins us from the east bay to ergo all outfit and morning will. I just want to prove a point that all things that you said can be true. Said this report bring brought to you by the line. All things can be true. It is cold. It is sunny. It is beautiful, but it could be downright deadly and disastrous at the same time. So bundle up because it is cold. And thats part of the problem with the weather conditions, which is why fire dnpartments like the one right behind me. They will be on high alert for at least 36 hours. And let me show you a map. Heres the reason why theyve already looked into the future and they say the areas on the map, sonoma, napa, marin county, santa cruz, mountains, parts of the east bay will be hit with low humidity. Strong winds, dry conditions and the winds probably as high as 45 Miles Per Hour or even more, especially in the higher elevations. You at all those things together and you get a fire. Hopefully not. But if you get a fire and with the strong winds, thats why theyre afraid of wildfires because weve seen this before a couple years ago. It was mild just like this a little cold in the morning. Then all of a suaden we saw the tubbs fire. So thats why from 05 00am on saturday all the way until sunday at 05 00pm. Theyll be a fire weather watch just to make sure that the Fire Departments are on high alert and to tell you just to be careful because once part, yes, there are pros when it comes to fire wildfires. Obviously, thats a game changer. Got to be careful. And again, all things can be true. It is beautiful. But it could be downright disastrous. And it is a little sunny this morning. You wouldnt think that this would be fire. Watch. But the people who get paid a lot more than me, they say it is. Back to know, theyre the experts. All right. Thank you very much. Well, thanks. But were about to be exit in that real quick novato santa rosa, calistoga kelsey bill, all now at 39 degrees nother morning with some frost advisories and freeze warnings tomorrow to start the day. Still yet to see those expiring in mendocino and lake counties after having been really cold this morning, too. Now skies will stay clear today and its going to be a really pleasant one. Tomorrow is when winds pick up and we can blame this highpressure ridge for it. It builds in really quick behind that low and is going to stir up northeasterly winds, dry winds from the interior. It all know not hot winds. They are very dry and that compounded with still some dry brush out. Theyre not the greenest of conditions just yet means that if we were to see a spark, there could be the potential of a fast growing fire, 30, 40, 50 mile per hour gusts up in the north bay mountains as well as east bay mountains that contributes to these fire weather watches which go into Effect Tomorrow and last through sunday for upper elevations across the bay area. You can actually see the fire weather developing into tomorrow.
