And weve seen that on tons of viral videos online will now Oakland Police are using the idea of those viral videos to help catch these criminals in real time. Take a look. If you see someone breaking into a car, youll be able to direct message, photos, videos and other information to Oakland Police directly. You can do so by using the social media handle at oakland, october. Its on both instagram and acts formally known as twitter. Opd says the hope is that with details that come in from the public, its Surveillance Team will be able to catch these criminals and be able to see what areas are being targeted the most. Its a bill that he thinks to make it harder for criminals to get away with the smash and grabs because heres the deal. Is this bill would take away the requirement as it is now where prosecutors have to prove that a car was locked at the time. And this law has been tried before in 2018 19 and fill the past. But this time waiting thinks its going to be successful because weve seen so many of these smash and grabs hes going to do next year when the state legislature reconvenes, as i said, currently the law requires that you have to say the car was locked and a victim actually has to be physically present in the courtroom to testify. Now the Luxury Resort is facing a lawsuit from 2 of its loyal customers who say they were sexually assaulted by a staff member here. During sunset at the ritz carlton in Half Moon Bay guests can be seen enjoying the property in coastal views. A husband and wife state here one night last november for a restful weekend to celebrate her birthday. But their stay is now being described as causing horror and trauma. Court documents filed this month identified the couple as jane and john doe stating jane drink seem in contaminated water from a water bottle served by ritz carlton staffer. The lawsuit claims once she realized what she ingested, they contacted Hotel Management and filed a report with the San Mateo County sheriffs office. Court documents say the ritz carlton later sent a water bottle to a laboratory for testing and results confirmed it contains seaman in january. However, they say the hotel allegedly refused to provide a copy of the Lab Test Results to the does so they could share them with their medical providers. And the couple claims the hotel refused to work with Law Enforcement as well. The couple says the hotel attempted to compensate for their troubles by offering Marriott Rewards points. The do say the damage goes far beyond that. The wife and husband have both gone to therapy since the incident. The lawsuit seeks to remedy the Emotional Distress caused the 2 on the hotel to pay for damages for battery and negligence as well as the legal costs. Theyre also asking for a jury trial to settle this case. We reached out to ritz carlton and to the San Mateo County sheriffs office. We did not hear back in time for this report. Well, a north Bay High School was put on lockdown yesterday morning following reports of a student with a knife. Police responded to Piner High School a little before noon. They say they received reports that a 15 yearold had gotten into an argument with several other students at the Schools Library and threatened them with a knife and then left campus. Police then later learned that the teen did, in fact, have a knife on campus 3 days ago, the knife was confiscated then, but he didnt bring another knife yesterday. Police arrest the teen for possession of a weapon on campus. Cited him and released him to his parents. Well, another teachers strike prevented in the bay area. The Gilroy Teachers Association and the City School District reached a tentative agreement on a new contract this week. Both sides have been negotiating since september last year. Some highlights of the deal include a 13 ongoing Salary Increase over the next 2 years. Reduced class size ratios to just 24 students per teacher, at least through first through 3rd grades, additional pay for dual immersion teachers and maintaining employee contributions to health and welfare benefits. When it comes to driving around the bay area, you wont see crews Driverless Cars. They have suspended their operations. Nationwide because of a series of safety issues that happened in San Francisco. Yeah. Now the announcement comes days after californias dmv as you may have heard suspended the Car Companies permits again for these autonomous. Tests on the streets proper stance storm takes a closer look. Just days after having the robotaxi permits revoked in california, crews pause its driverless operations nationwide. The Company Making the announcement on ax formally known as Twitter Thursday night saying the most important thing for us right now is to take steps to rebuild public trust. Its actually the right thing to do. They have to make sure that people feel its safe and the car and outside the car. There have been a number of incidents involving cruise cars malfunctioning on San Francisco streets. And in one recent case, the victim of a hit and run driver was run over trapped and then dragged by a cruise car. This was tuesday on sister cities boulevard when officers received an alert that a car was stolen. The suspect abandoned the vehicle in this residential neighborhood. But was caught by police. Just a few moments later, a search of the car found several credit cards inside that didnt belong to the person that suspect was taken into custody and is now facing several charges. Today. East bay congressman Eric Swalwell is set to hold a cybersecurity summit for Small Business owners. Mental health will play a role in the case essentially tampered with the aircraft and what hes describing is an impulsive act. This is someone who acted impulsively in a complete Mental Health breakdown that had been building up to this point, what the prosecution will try to do is say that heat premeditated this, that he planned it and they can show that by what he did leading up to getting into that cockpit. He said he had not slept in 40 hours.
