We are expecting things to get quite warm and i know 4 meteorologist kyla grogan knows a thing or 2 about that. Yeah, sure do. I wanted to take a look at the hazy skies for second, though, because in addition to the heat today, we are also looking out, unfortunately, for a little bit of arce air quality slip. So. This is a live look from the east bay. And you can see that we are expecting our air quality to get from moderate to unhealthy for sensitive groups. Mean if youre someone who has asthma or Something Like that, want to be a little careful today. Also, were under a spare the air alert, which means they dont want you to contribute to anything that could cause some additional pollution. Now, the good news so far were doing okay. You can see a little bit of a slip in that air quality down in san jose, though. That is one of the spots that we could see going to unhealthy today. But meanwhile, bringing it back to the golden gate bridge. We are a little bit breezy. You can see the flag kind of flying in the wind there and weve got the blue skies in control because of the High Pressure that is out there in the temperatures are starting to warm up. In fact, already looking at some of those upper 70s in San Francisco, mid 70s and oakland, san jose. You can see in the mid 80s livermore. Same story low 80s and concord in santa rosa and half moon bay. A spot of keeping an eye on today already at 70 degrees at this hour or so. We are under what is called a heat advisory now that goes until 11 00pm tonight noticed not just us but a good portion of california. All of the area that you see there in orange and that heat advisory means that were going to be well above average for a good portion of today. And that can cause a little bit of danger. If youre a person whos sensitive to heat. So make sure youre finding a cool place to be because as you can see, we could get up to 90 degrees in San Francisco into those 80s out at the coast, even higher in some other spots up into those upper 90s. As we head inland, both in the north bay, the east bay and in the south bay, where you can see a spot like morgan hill looking out for 99 degrees. So basically weve got High Pressure in control right now, flanked by 2 low pressure systems, though. So thats why this is going to be short lived in by tomorrow. We start to cool down and believe it or not, even have a shower chance coming our way. So the thing to watch for is when the wind shifts from the south right now, you see a bit of an offshore flow thats helping to heat us up. But when we start to see that southerly flow, thats what were going to start to see. The temperatures drop. So today, not going to probably see that until we get into the later night hours. A spot like san jose where to expect to be 97 degrees. Something to give you an extra large for that ice coffee. Make sure youre taking good care. Tomorrow, we will start to cool down and then we really cool it down. Get below average over the weekend. Looking after those showers on sunday. Ill talk more about that when it come back in a bit. And you can see we do have some of those white caps that are out there and that might kind of viewed into patient of some of the danger that happening. We have a northwest swell thats coming in. You know, weve had some of these dangers. Were looking out for rip currents and sneaker waves. We now add to that today, high advisory. And that is because these waves are expected to be very high. Very dangerous today sees pockets of green. Thats of the higher waves you can see them rolling in. So as we zoom in and we go right off the coast of point rays wave height, 12 feet. If you filled up recently, chances are you felt the pain at the pump, according to aaa, the average price of regular unleaded gas will cost you 5 and 0. 55 per gallon in the state of california. Nearly 2 more than the National Average governor gavin newsom has long put the blame on Oil Companies. He accuses of price gouging. The fact is theyre ripping you off earlier this year following a special session of the legislature. The governor and democratic lawmakers created a new state watchdog division to look closely into oil industry, finances and investigate alleged price gouging. Fast forward to now, the motion passes members of the California Energy commission or unanimously voted in favor of getting the ball rolling on a part of the governors plan calling on this body to determine whether or not to annex some sort of penalty on Oil Companies have. They are found to be taking part in price gouging. But before the commission make any decision on whether to implement such a penalty, members will first need to spend the next several months digging through oil research and oil profits data and they will have to answer what a penalty will look like and how it could impact everyday californians you must determine that the likely benefits to consumers outweigh the cost to consumers. This needs to be done in a credible way, which means we need to engage with stakeholders 7 good as the Commission Vice chair, he says, while the process to explore a potential penalty is just Getting Started the end goal is clear, but seeing extreme volatility at really hits the bottom line work. This in california. So our hope is by shining the light on this information able to have the problem that so we to get quickly. But opponents of the governors plan have long argued its not oil industry whos to blame, but rather other factors, including the states greater tax burden, Gas Production costs and california, strict environmental protections. The russian invasion of ukraine, they say has also led to an increase in prices as global energy. National security concerns mount. With 2 ongoing wars affecting the crude oil market now is not the time for this body to rush a decision that will likely impact every california. Its a sentiment echoed by gop lawmakers as they call for the governor to suspend the gas tax currently valued at about 0. 58 per gallon. They also want to see more in state oil production. What really needs to take place is that regulators and the legislature need to get out the way and allow us to be able to have California Companies produce a product that will drive the cost down. Kron 4 sports director jason dumas has more. Were inching closer to Opening Night in the nba. Less than a week away, steve kerr said he will treat this week like a dress rehearsal shootaround film a full scout. Things are starting to feel real warriors hosted the kings. Chris pauls going just 2 more preseason games, including this one. Now the dubs were down by as many 18. Theyre storming back. Look at stephen, a whiskey. Thats dirt famous, moved a little post fade. Weve got a game under a minute to go warriors down, fourstep pump fake. The bank is open. Its a onepoint game. All right. 10 seconds left now warriors down to step step back. It never gets old folks. All the challenges of mike brown trying to its time to go home with the kids, the Training Camp to be the first time everybody. Like when everybody has that. Hello. My name is name tag on didnt want that to be a Training Camp. So. For us it was nice to get, you know, 2 or 3 sessions where everybody got together, got the whole got to hang out off the court. Got family. So during the seasons kind of hit or miss, but we wanted to develop an identity of how were going to come together and Training Camps been great because of it. Already and remember, folks tonight, the warriors have their open practice. Tickets are just 5 and all proceeds go to charity. So could be a fun outing for the family. All right. Thats a look at sports. All right, jason, thank you. And lets talk about our forecast now taking a live look outside at coit tower looking so nice gets those a nice blue skies out there. Lets check in now with cuyler from or what we need to know because its going to get pretty warm out there. Its already getting pretty warm out there. Those blue skies are an indication of that High Pressure that is in control and you can see it from San Francisco to half moon bay. Right to the east bay into the golden gate and san jose as well. And that means that we get hot quickly, right . So were at 86 in san jose, but 81 degrees in pacifica right now. Also seeing in 80s in San Francisco. So its kind of interesting when you see like alameda 78 in pacifica is at 81 the coast already warming up. Check out point raise sitting at 87 degrees. If i sound shocked that is correct. I it is getting very warm out there. You can see an apple right now, 10 degrees warmer than it was this time yesterday. Starting to see increases pretty much across the bay area. Now, our air wanted to mention so far is holding steady, but we are under a spare the air alert. So that is kind of in addition to the heat thats happening. We are under also this heat advisory until 11 oclock tonight. And all the areas that you see there in that red color. And that is because these temperatures are set to soar as were seeing blue skies means High Pressure is in control that zoom out and you see that there are actually 2 low pressure systems right now, one to the northwest, one to the south of us that one to the south of us. Look at that counter clockwise circulation. Thats the southerly wind that is ultimately going to help to return our onshore flow and knock temperatures down right now. Weve got offshore flow. And you see that as we look from the east bay. But watch what happens when i put this into motion we get into this afternoon, we start to see that on shore flow returning that southerly flow onshore flow. That means cool down coming our way. It will take a minute to get there. But thats what im kind of watching today because once that starts, temperatures will back off. Were not there yet. Were certainly in the throes of warming up at the moment tomorrow, though, well get that on shore flow back and will be more like a day like yesterday. And then we head towards the weekend. And as i mentioned, we have that chance of a shower coming in saturday night into sunday. Obviously, that is going to really take our temperatures down on that front tracks through. Well start off next week with a little sunshine and much more milder kind of seasonal forecast. Back to all right. Love the feeling of sunshine on my shoulders. Thank you, tyler.
