The San Francisco board of supervisors has approved new guidelines now on when security guards could actually use their guns. Everyone will with the passing of this proposal ultimately private security guards in the city of San Francisco will no longer be able to draw guns on shoplifters, specifically to protect property and city Officials Say really that way. This was a situation when a young person by the name of banco brown was shot and killed by security while attempting to leave a walgreens with the back of stolen items. Now, this law was brought forth by supervisor dean preston, who says that the time of that situation, the City Police Code allowed security to draw their guns, not only in response to an actual threat to people, but in the defense of property. This new approval would remove any sense of property reference. Now, officials also go on to say that state guidelines and training of these officers have previously said that drawing a weapon may escalate a situation, adding that the state training well ready limits drawing a weapon to situations of defending life but not property. Adding that the Community Members have spoken in, criticize the local law, saying that drawing a gun on a suspected shoplifter for a petty theft is and was an inappropriate response. Her family says that something she does quite often but usually has only gone for a short time. They were worried when she was gone longer than expected. Police are now looking into exactly what led to her death. Police in los altos are investigating now after 2 cars were stolen and 6 others were burglarized. Officers say the thefts took place early sunday morning between one and 04 00am. An unknown number of thieves stole 2 cars and again, burglarized 6 others and then tried to enter homes and garages in the area. The incidents happened on lower lis drive, but not a drive pine lane patrick way, laverne way, alicia way, alvarado avenue, lee l street and south gordon way. Its 807, and the Oakland City Council passed mayor shane house plan to install 300 automated license plate readers. The board voted tuesday to pass legislation requiring retail pharmacies in the city to carry medications to reverse overdoses. And that includes narcan, the Citys Department of Public Health calls this a critical step to address the opioid overdose epidemic in San Francisco. Speaking of San Francisco, the board of supervisors is ending remote Public Comments at meetings. Although there are a couple of exceptions. The board voted 83 on tuesday to do away with colin comments. However, seniors and people with disabilities will still be able to use the phone in comment option during meetings. Supervisor Aaron Preston and initiated the change after a stream of racist and antisemitic colors interrupted a meeting last month. Preston and and guardiola recommended that alternatives. Like a time delay on broadcasting be put up instead of getting rid of calls all together, but decided to go with this route. Out of the more than 1000 bills on Governor Newsoms desk. He vetoed 156 of them saying the main reason was the cost. One of those bills would require all Public Schools to have free condoms for students. Authorities say that they received a report of an unresponsive woman on the side of the road here on Mount Pleasant road in east saint xavier, joseph grant county park on october 9th. They say evidence discovered at the scene prompted the santa clara sheriffs departments homicide unit to take over the case, although they would not elaborate on what type of evidence was collected at the scene. The owners of that day care have since been arrested. A gofundme page has been set up for the family of one yearold payton cobb. She was one of 3 children that fell into the pool. So far the page has raised more than 34,000. Officials are now investigating human remains that were found in sebastopol over the weekend as a suspicious death. The remains were found in an overgrown area on sparks road near mclendon lane on saturday. And the Sonoma County Sheriffs Office says that they cant identify the person at this time because of the extensive decomposition. Anybody with information is asked to call the Sheriffs Office. A Cycling Community in the north bay is grieving. The is 2 bicyclists were killed suddenly and napa while they were cycling on silverado trail yesterday, they were hit by a piece of wood that came off of a flat bud lumber, flatbed lumber truck. It fell off the back of the truck and hit the 2 cyclists. One of them died at the scene and the other bicyclist was taken to the hospital where they died of their injuries at the driver of that truck did stay at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. She says she also secured more than 53 Million Dollars in funding for more than 1000 new housing units. Well, prior to merit house address, she did have her opponents congregate outside to share their thoughts. Mayor sheng thao is not doing what shes supposed to do and she should be. We need to hold her accountable. Shes not going to and we need remove her. Well, the group says that mayor tells approach to addressing crime has led to several longtime mom and pop businesses to shut down and leave after losing confidence that they would be protected. And although its unlikely that anything the mayor had to say during her address would change the minds of her opponents. Supervisor Hillary Ronen Just Announced this decision saying that attempts before to curb illegal vending have had limited success. The police chief has called this a Public Safety issue for workers who had to enforce permit requirements. Secondly, it would move more officers from desk duty to back on street patrols and the measure lastly would also make changes to how the citys Police Commission operates. The mayor says all of this is needed to improve Public Safety. We cant be living in the dark ages when technology. San francisco is that ai capital of the world. It also eliminates requirements were unnecessary paperwork. So do we dont keep sending officers back to their deaths when they can be out on the streets. So now were going to the voters and say voters of San Francisco. This is whats happening. These are the basic tools we need to improve Public Safety in San Francisco. Yeah, the city is hoping to put the measure before voters in march. It would only need a simple majority to pass. Critics of the plan, though, are wondering why the mayor is asking voters to change things that in their mind she already controls like the fact that you points for out of the 7 Police Commissioners already.
