No one is allowed to go down, so if youre familiar with the area, there is a venue on willow pass road and then Hurricane Harbor in concord. You cant get there right now. And happening today, the San Francisco Teachers Union is voting on whether they want to go on strike. Now the teachers say negotiations have pretty much hit a stone stale standstill. And now they prepare to hit the picket lines there across will tran following it all for us from San Francisco. Will. The teachers theyve been working on a new deal with the San Francisco Unified School District for the past year. But they are not close and they say perhaps a strike will seal the deal as far as a new deal because right now they dont have one. And theyre looking for a twoyear extension as far as whats going to happen this afternoon. Well, it will be at Balboa High School from 4 to 8. The teachers. They will have a strike authorization vote. But even if they vote yes, that does not mean that they will go on strike and all explain that in just a few moments. Heres whats at stake. Were talking 50,000 students at 132 schools in San Francisco. The teachers are looking not just for a pay raise, but a significant pay raise. The School District is offering about 10,000. More pursed teacher, but teachers theyre looking for around 12,000, possibly even more than that. Not to mention they want smaller class sizes, even if they vote yes on a strike authorization vote tonight. It does not mean that they will go on strike as they do not take this lightly. What it means is they will circle back. The union will then vote once again. Tantamount to are you sure you want to go on strike . And if they say yes at that particular time, then there will be a strike. So in the meantime, probably not for the immediate future. In the meantime, you can drop off your child to school, but a strike could be eminent depending on what happens tonight. It appears that early polls show that about 80 of teachers. They are ready to go on strike. And if so, it will be the first one in San Francisco since 1979. All right. Well, thank you very much. Well, the snow when school board voted last night their ban on all flags other than the u. S. And the california state flag. So board member introduce a resolution repeal that ban. But nobody else supported it means flags like the pride flag cannot be displayed at school. It also includes peace, flags and flags that say things like welcome to school in september. The meeting got so heated. Alameda deputies got called in last night. Deputies were on the campus before that meeting in as a precaution for the meeting. Cache valley pride gather people outside to proudly display pride. Flags as some people were also there in support of the ban. Well, we know right now is on northbound lanes are currently blocked while the Police Continue to investigate a do what theyre doing in that area. And right now you cant get through there. The southbound side of north to 42 is open. Its the northbound side that is impacted. So you if you are going to be traveling this morning say you need to get through of saying kercher of road, if you are going to be kirker pass road or 80 up to highway 4 in navigate around that again, you cannot get through northbound to 42. A little pass road right now. 2 Police Activity currently happening in that area. And we should mention that not only to 42 northbound is shut down right now, but also portions of willow pass road. Theyre at 2. 42. Out near sunvalley mall. That stretch will pass road also shut down. So if youre trying to make your way, lets say from dimond boulevard towards conquered, you cant use will pass road. That part of that roadway is shut down as well. No estimate from police on when this might be resolved. Theyre talking to a person who appears to be on the roadway on foot so soon as they get that resolved, well let you know. But in the meantime, that area of to 42 northbound will pass road shut down the northbound direction and also well pass road beneath. There is traffic moving southbound onto 44 to 42 in that area. But it is slow and go as people are slowing down to watch whats happening you want to stay away from area if you can altogether. Look at your other bridges right now. 50 minutes heading into the city on the bay bridge, mateo bridge about 21 minutes there. Richmond center fell bridge just under 14 and the Golden Gate Bridge. 37 to the tolls about 30 minutes. Well, 9. 16, lets head over to the weather center. We do have Police Activity on highway 2. 42. Northbound south of concord avenue. All lanes are currently blocked. So you cannot travel along northbound to 42. We do know that the southbound side is open so you can freely travel along to 42 southbound. If you are trying navigate around the delays that were seeing this morning, you could take kirker pass road or you can hop on a t and take highway 4 to navigate and get around that this morning. But again, northbound to 42 at willow pass you cannot drive through that right now. We know the chp is also diverting traffic northbound 6. 80, to continue on the highway for but that northbound side of 6 80s backed up quite a ways because of whats happening here. F we should also mention that right there to 42 in. Well pass road is that stretch of willow pass road shut down as well as it passes underneath from pretty much dimond boulevard on the men were dennys and im well over. It is past the freeway underneath and over towards Market Street where they have the Chuck E Cheese right in that area is our own felipe gaal. Hes standing by on the phone with eyes on the situation. If youre going to be taking service streets on the southbound side. Just to recap northbound to 42 and willow pass road that is shut down for an undetermined amount of time. Theyre in concord this morning. Youre going to have to take roundabout ways if youre trying to get their gun kercher pass road or 80 to highway 4. Thank you for well, weve got some developing news in the east bay the search for a new Oakland Police chief keeps getting more committee. Thats part of the Oakland Police Commission Says its a narrow down a list of new candidates. To about 7 people, including former police chief, the wrong armstrong. However, that committee didnt follow the proper process. And official finalist. Havent yet been determined. So how is it that they have a list already . Turns out the committee jump the gun by releasing that list of candidates. The application process isnt even over yet. And the candidates havent even been interviewed. So how could they have a finalist . Virginia jackson is on the Oakland Police commission, not part of the committee that released that suppose a list of finalists. And shes pretty critical about the process so far. I do not know how you can come up with final candidates before the end of an application process. That is election. Well, turns out the application deadline doesnt close till friday. Then an executive search firm will forward the names to the Police Commission and then the commissioners will conduct interviews and hold town Hall Meetings before submitting a final list of the top 3 choices to the mayor. Well, now the real question remains, if armstrong does and up on that final list of 3 with mayor sheng thao rehired him. Remember, shes the one who fired him back in february. So that will be one of the big questions. People are asking Oakland Police, by the way, are investigating a shooting where a person was shot and this is video from the citizen app showing the scene right near so randy park and san leandro creek. Police say the victim died at the scene. They havent provided more details beyond that. And a Good Samaritan was shot in oakland while trying to stop a robbery. Police say it was after midnight on monday car when another vehicle ir pulled up alongside someone inside at second car then jumped out, tried to rob them. The Good Samaritan steppe tried to break it all up, but thats when they were shoand wounded. The suspect took off. Both victims were hospitalized. Police say theyre doing ok this morning. Well, People Living in San Francisco, hes valley neighborhood are really concerned about fires at homeless encampments. These photos are from saturday afternoon at the core of off and paid streets. Firefighters and Police Responded to a homeless encampment that caught fire. And you see in the pictures that is the sidewalk was charred. Theres nothing left from what was ever in that tent right a power pole. The park old south was even scarred. Planners have been set up along sidewalks to deter encampments. The hayes valley neighborhood. So station, they say that multiple complaints about encampments, our son to the city on a daily basis. Well, San Francisco police right now are keeping a presence outside the chinese consulate after a man crashed into the building monday. Police ended up shooting the driver after he smashed his car through the front of that facility. They havent said what exactly led up to officers opening fire or what motivated the driver to drive into that building in the first place are still looking into that. Police are expected to share more details at an upcoming town hall. So well have more than meanwhile, the visa office at the consulate is closed until further notice. And the city of San Francisco is suing 3 Apartment Building owners in chinatown. They claim the properties havent been well maintained tenets of the dealing with everything from broken windows and doors to rusted out plumbing and exposed wiring. When they stop providing regular cleaning have has much they know repairs. We have all with rodent and what really broken windows. And that theres all the not and much more. Well, the City Attorney says the city has tried to get the landlords to address the problems, but they havent had much success. We hear kron 4 have also reached out to the landlords for comment. But so far we havent heard back. On the peninsula, Police Arrested a 12 yearold boy for attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed another boyd. Sam, a tail police found the victim in central park monday night. Paramedics took him to the hospital. But before they did, he told police he stabbed him after searching the area. Police found 12 yearold suspect walking nearby is now being held at hillcrest Juvenile Hall on suspicion of attempted murder. Well, Alameda County District Attorney pamela price says that the county is the 3rd largest trafficking hub in the u. S. And she believes theyre not doing enough to stop it. A new campaign was launched at the Oakland Airport yesterday. 6 billboards were put up 3 different languages. Theyre trying to spread awareness for all people traveling through the area. Much of Human Trafficking is we do is were being in the hub of internationally. It starts in our community, but it goes all around the world and the transportation hub is a critical place where we how we the county as the home of the Oakland International airport. Well, oakland mayor sheng thao is also planning on launching a huma Trafficking Task force next week. The north bay, the napa county board of supervisors unanimously approved a new ordinance.
