Hour with our continued coverage of the Memorial Service for senator Dianne Feinstein. That service wrapped up not too long ago. People braved the heat seated outside of San Francisco city hall in order to pay their respects. Lawmakers and friends joined mayor london breed in order to honor the senator. In addition to her closest colleagues, her granddaughter also shared some beautiful memories of growing up with the senator. Well turn now to kron fours also the money and she has more on todays service. So just so many personal stories were shared with the public today from Vice President Kamala Harris to feinsteins own granddaughter, as you mentioned. So, harris, of course, has long called the bay area her home where she served as a District Attorney and first met feinstein. The Vice President called the late force a student of history and a passionate leader who made sacrifices that allowed her to serve as a Public Servant mentioning that feinstein had the courage to take on tough fights, even in opposition and political peril, especially when her work was in defense of the constitution. Harris believes that feinsteins foundation working right here at San Francisco city hall had a lot to do with that calling San Francisco politics, a bare knuckled sport. Theyre requires elected officials to engage in complex discussions with informed residents who will raise issues no matter if im elected. Officials caught walking the for city or attending an event. Vice president who actually worked along her side in the Senate Intelligence Committee Said that feinstein both commanded and give respect that. She was a serious and gracious person who welcome debate and discussion. But it required to be informed well studied. With her trademark grin. Lift up her memo. Glance knowingly at the others of us on the dias and question the witness in a way this former prosecutor always admired. The women of america have come a long way. Our country has come a long way. The Vice President credited feinstein from ruling moving the ball forward for women across the United States. Well have more remarks from todays speakers throughout our coverage reporting the newsroom. Im Ella Sogomonian kron. 4 thank you so much. And well continue our Team Coverage right now with kron 4 Charles Clifford. He was there outside of San Francisco city hall for the memorial. He joins us now live with the very latest there. Just wanted to get your thoughts on the very hot service that happened today. Yeah, its its very hot out here today, but were actually was lovely cir list service. It started about one 20 or so went for a little less than an hour. Probably a good thing because it is so hot outside ever if everyone who spoke really spoke highly of Dianne Feinstein, you had mayor london breed up there talking about how as a teenager she had played the french horn in a band for diane. And then years later, she would work with while she was mayor and Dianne Feinstein was a senator. And then you also the Vice President was saying, reflecting on her and their time together. They served in the senate together for a couple years before Kamala Harris went on to become Vice President. And then really, i think for the most touching moment for me was when her granddaughter got up and spoke and didnt talk about politics at all and just talked the woman that she knew was a grandma on the fun that they had together playing, hide and seek. That used to get hair cuts from her grandmother that were uneven and that the every night she would sing. You are my sunshine to her when she went to bed. So that was really heartfelt. We also have the blue angels flying over to time during the entire a service. But thats okay because Dianne Feinstein was responsible for bringing them to San Francisco years ago back in the 80s. So everyone seemed to really appreciate that. Even though kind of noisy and interrupted the ceremony from time to time, they have finished here. Theres still a few lingering people. But for the most part, theyre starting to break down and clear out polk street here and get San Francisco city hall back to normal. So its a very latest here in San Francisco, Charles Clifford kron. 4 news. Yeah, it was so nice to hear from granddaughter because weve heard so much about. The senator as far as her life and politics and her service to the country that our state and the city of San Francisco. But we had really heard about her as a Family Member and the matriarch. So, yes, i agree that granddaughter. That a lovely job . Chuck, thank you so much. All right. Were taking a live look outside here at San Francisco city hall. There it is in the middle. And as chuck mentioned, and if youve stepped outside at all today, you know, it is very warm out there. Meteorologist kyla grogan here now with details. How hot are we getting out there today . Yeah. Kind of crazy. Hot in certain places. Right . Like its not as bad. If you look inland, believe it or not, thats usually where the heat is and there is heat there today. Santa rosa right now at 94 degrees. Concord 92. You can see 95 down in san jose, but San Francisco is at 88 degrees right now. 86 out of Half Moon Bay. The coast is just been heating up and you can see 90s there in san we are under this heat advisory. You can see that is extended now all the way down to moderate day and also some point south along the coast there heading towards the central coast. But here locally, it is a San Francisco it all along the peninsula. All of the bay shore communities down into the south bay and Santa Cruz Mountains and of course, a good portion of the east bay as well. Now its not just today that were going to have this heat with us. It is also tomorrow. So that is why the heat advisory is until 11 00pm. And frankly, even we get into saturday, well pull back a couple of degrees. We really dont get our meaningful cool down until we get into sunday. May be wondering if this is record setting heat and the answer is maybe depending on where youre looking. First of all, you look at this and think 1987, it was 102 degrees in San Francisco. Can you imagine . They obviously have a heat wave there because oakland was 96. You can see in santa rosa back in 1933. And you get the idea. But the one place that i think we very well could be beating a daily record Half Moon Bay because that records from 2013 and its 82 degrees. And weve already exceeded that. Lets official temperature for them. When we get into later in the afternoon. But the sunshine is out there. You can see the wind is very calm. You dont see the leaves rustling around much because i mentioned this isnt just today, but also tomorrow and part of saturday. Theyre going to stay very warm. Want to remind you to stay hydrated. Avoid those outdoor activities. You dont want to kind of get out there and start doing the really tough yard work. And a day like today or tomorrow, find shade check on any people that could be at risk and make sure, of course that youre finding a cool place for your pets as well. High pressure has kept us nice and hot. Low pressure is going to knock that out of the way. Ill be back in a little bit. Well talk about the cooldown. Back to thank you so much. Jalen rose is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow in a San Francisco courtroom. If you are or around San Francisco today, you might recognize those unmistakable sights and sounds of the blue angels practicing before 3 Straight Days of the u. S. Todays Memorial Service for the late senator Dianne Feinstein was not open to the public as originally planned because there were a lot of security concerns and that did catch some people by surprise as that change was made late in the day yesterday. Kron fours rob nesbitt. Joining us now live from city hall with this part of the story. But robbie got a chance to talk with a lot of people who did show up today and they were able to see and experience some of the service. Yeah, just seeing originally didnt think the public is going to get in. But they were a lot of big names in politics. Senators and congresswomen congressman were making their way through security. And then we noticed on the other side of us that members of the general public were also having their Home Security checkpoint, been able to get into the Memorial Service today. They said that, you know, the biggest takeaway for them, the thing that they here for the most was the senator herself. You know, there was a lot that we heard about from different politicians from the impact that senator feinstein had the politics out of washington. But everyone i spoke to really remembers what she did here in San Francisco. First as her time as supervisor. And then as the first female mayor and the city. And that was the biggest thing the the Glass Ceiling that she shattered for women, whether was in politics or any job that they took. They were really inspired by her careering. They wanted to come here and pay their respects. There was one woman that i talked to her name kay naaman. She drove over from oakland for todays Memorial Service. She wasnt sure she was going to be able to get in, but she did. Heres what she said about the late sen. Wouldnt be here in spirit to support. Really great lady to just without having make a lot of helped people tirelessly incredible. I mean, we saw what she did win. You know, when when a harvey milk. Was assassinated in county, she took charge like a people have faith in her and lead to her and carried the city she was a leader from the getgo. That was, of course, the San Francisco Fire Department chief Jeanine Nicholson talking about the impact that senator feinstein had on her and the citys Fire Department. I talked with a few folks who are leaving this Memorial Service about what they thought of it as they were leaving. And one of the things that they said, some of them still in tears in their eyes is the biggest impact with the speech of the senator feinsteins of course, a lot of big names, justine like nancy pelosi and Senate Majority leader Chuck Schumer spoke. But it seems like the grand daughters remarks for what people really took away as impactful. Rob nesbitt, thank you so much for a live report. I know you have more coverage for us ahead tonight. And well switch gears to talk about our forecast here in San Francisco. A live look at the sun just blaring down, warming us up. We have kylie here to talk about just how hot we got. Yeah, and how hot were going to get. But were not going to break any records. But still its war. We could break a few records. I think if we do, its going to be coast rates the coast where the heat is. But boy, a Beautiful Day for senator feinstein service today, but also for the blue angels, who course need some nice, clear blue skies and thats what theyre getting right. But theyre also getting a lot of heat. So. Were talking about this out at the coast. Pretty incredible. Some of the gauges out there. Half moon bay right now showing 91 degrees. I did double check that. That is the Half Moon Bay airport that showing that right now. One of the warmer temperatures out there, 94 in santa rosa are in the low 90s and livermore concord, san jose. 95 degrees getting very warm as well. But San Francisco now reporting 89 the same story in oakland. Obviously, these are numbers that you dont see very often, particularly at the coast. So i had to break out my iced coffee forecast and i had to give it to Half Moon Bay this time because youre getting an extra large folks. If you are truly in that 91 degree range, just which is what it looks like. If you are headed out to the coast is certainly going to a nice day out there, but very warm. So just be careful if youre headed that way, looking out for, you know, temperatures in the upper 80s and even 90 degree mark. So its all about the High Pressure. Thats whats in control right now. Thats why weve seen such a buildup in these temperatures today. However, that is going to change as we get into next week because weve got a low pressure system thats going to roll in not only is going knock temperatures but it actually is bringing us a chance of showers. So a very big kind of different forecast between now what we starting the week with as we get into monday. So lets take a live look outside. This is the east bay. You can see of you all the way to San Francisco today. Weve got beautiful, clear skies out there. No doubt about it. Im a little bit of a slip in the air quality. We are in moderate in a few spots today. Temperature wise, though, you can see inland valleys are looking to stay very warm. Not just today. Also friday as we are under that heat advisory until 11 oclock on friday. But notice not Much Movement on saturday. Its not until sunday. We start to see these temperatures go down and then really drop off as we get into monday. Thats when that front is going to track through. And thats were going to see big relief from the heat. So the next couple of days just make sure youre being safe, taking good care, staying cool, stay hydrated. And yeah, just making good choices as to what youre going to do. If youre going to be outside as we get into next week, you can see the clouds move back in the marine layer as well as you get to monday and a chance of showers coming our way on tuesday. Back to you. All right. Thank you so much. Kyle is in the Weather Center now. Shes taking a look now at whats happening all across the country. When you hear Something Like that about the hottest september on record, what do you think that . Well, i mean, i think its something that were watching trends. We seem to be breaking a lot of record setting a lot of records meeting a lot of records either getting tutor exceeding. If you take a look at the map here, you can see. It is a little bit of a mixed today, but you know, spots in the east coast are above average. Everywhere you see a red box. That means an above average temperature. And thats certainly the case. As we look at the west coast here up in seattle, even they are looking at some above average temperatures. But my goodness, check out whats happening in san jose and then head down to los angeles. And that is why we take a look at the map here. You can see los angeles seeing at 89 degrees right now. So weve got a very warm day happening. Even monterey sitting at 92. I dont usually see those numbers out at the coast. So obviously we are having a bit of a moment for the heat is arc october, warm up and you can see that these heat advisories not just for the bay area, but extending all the way down to the central, even Southern California for us. It is going to be until as we get into friday night. And that is pretty much the same case for Southern California to theres expires at 07 00pm for us. Its 11 00pm central coast, as i mentioned, still in it. And even along the coast heading right up to moderate day. And then, of course, here in the bay area, we are in San Francisco under that heat advisory down the peninsula right into the south bay and the east bay as well. All the way up into san leandro. Fremont. A lot of spots along the bay side. Very hot today and out at the coast right now, Half Moon Bays airport showing 87 degrees. You can see 88 in San Francisco, but notice as we move through here we are in the 90s inland spots like dublin about 92 degrees. 96 in pittsburgh. But check out point, raise 84 degrees there. Now up into the 94 degree range in petaluma and santa rosa. So a lot of heat out there. And unfortunately, a little bit of a toll being taken in our air quality can see the east and the south bay have slipped into moderate. It looks like well see more of that as we get into tomorrow. Not too bad, but something to keep an eye on. Also some to keep an eye out. We are very dry out there. Notice when we start to get these warm temperatures, right, 19 humidity in San Francisco, 18 in santa rosa. That means that there is still a little fire danger out there. So just something to keep an eye on. Ill be back in a bit. Well take a look at our 7 day forecast. Back to you. Kyler. Thank you.
