This is where were expecting some of this heat to get a little bit much as we over the next couple of days. So meanwhile, today we started the warmup, but pretty nice out there. Really blue skies, beautiful, the way from San Francisco to Half Moon Bay, the east bay looking good. San jose basking in the sunshine and the golden gate bridge. Not a bit of fog there to see today. This is the difference in temperatures between 24 hours ago and now. So napa kind of leading the way here at 16 degrees warmer than they were this time yesterday. But notice Half Moon Bay, 13 degrees warmer in Half Moon Bay right now. 75 degrees. You do not see that very often on my map here. 83 in downtown San Francisco. We santa rosa up to 94 degrees. You can see some of those 80s over in the inner east bay, but down in the south bay, san jose sitting at 91. So its all about the High Pressure that has been building in and that is giving us that compressed marine layer, those blue skies and that will be the hallmark of our forecast over the next few days that we do still have a little bit of wind up in our peaks. You can see we look at whats become of that north northeasterly direction. That is a little bit of offshore wind and were not quite done with that yet. As we take a look at our current window, you can see that a lot of this doesnt work its way down to the surface. Having said that, that northerly northeasterly flow is still going to be with us as we get into tomorrow morning in particular, you can see another push that kind of rolling as we get into thursday evening. Well start to see the onshore flow take shape and start to see a changeover in that. So as far as your weather is concerned today, obviously, well, above average is just the beginning, though of our heat snapped tonight, mostly clear skies out there. And as i mentioned, we are a little dry and weve got some of that wind so limited humidity recovery. The heat is going to thursday through saturday with a cooldown on sunday. Ill be back. The Kaiser Permanente workers holding to their promise of a threeday strike if no agreement was reached, hundreds gathering right outside of the Kaiser Permanente hospital here walnut creek. One of 14 Kaiser Permanente. Hospitals in the bay area. Weve got to hear us. As the Largest Health care workers striking u. S. , history plays out around 60,000 Kaiser Permanente. Workers here in california took to the streets to strike many telling kron 4 they were locked out of the building wednesday morning because hasnt been listening to frontline healthcare. Partners in the situation and were telling them that theres a health care and we want them to come back and bargain in good faith. But nationwide, there are around 75,000 workers who are on strike in multiple states, including colorado, washington, oregon, maryland, virginia and washington protesting what they say is unfair labor practices and unsafe staffing levels. Those on strike chanting kaiser shame on you saying that the company is working in bad faith. I want to say come back to the table, cargo in good faith and listen to us on the solutions we for the health care reading a statement says in his it is really hurting our patients and members safety some of the jobs being affected by the strike range from nurses, Emergency Department technicians, surgical technicians and home in healthcare eights. In a statement from Kaiser Permanente, they say both Kaiser Permanente management in Coalition Union representatives are still at the bargaining table. Having worked through the night in an effort to reach an agreement. There has been a lot of progress with agreements reached on several specific proposals late tuesday. And this is threeday strike. While the creek police are looking for a group of people who broke into a baton store at broadway plaza. Police say they began getting 911. Calls just before 04 30am, in the morning on tuesday. Officers say about 15 people with 4 vehicles were burglarizing the store. They say that they drove a stolen land rover right through the front window in order to get inside and as soon as an officer arrived, those burglars, they say, jumped into 3 different cars and took off the street, had been closed in front of the store. It just reopened. This summer been closed after a similar breakin at the nordstrom in 2021. But police say there is a need to keep the street open. We have to street. Police say they chase the burglars on 24 into orinda, but they had to cancel the pursuit because of Public Safety reasons that land rover left on the scene and police determined it was stolen out of sacramento. Theres a resolution that ban drivers from turning right on red lights has now been approved by the San Francisco board of supervisors. And this is coming just weeks after a 4 yearold was killed in a crosswalk near oracle park. The tenderloin district has had no turn on red signs since 2021. Statistics are showing the signs have been 92 effective in that district. San francisco is the second city behind new york to ban turns on red and more closures are hitting the bay area. Starbucks recently announcing plans to close 7 stores in San Francisco by october. 22nd the closings are mostly concentrated in the citys downtown and financial district. The coffee chain says the decision is part of the companys process of ensuring a healthy store portfolio. The closures there saying will not result in job losses because the employees at the affected stores have been offered. They say the opportunity to transfer. But at the same time, starbucks is investing. 2. 5 Million Dollars for renovations for 4 of its stores that are located in the city now in santa clara safeway is closing its location on Stevens Creek boulevard. Its located right near the valley fair mall. Its been in business for the past 67 years. Safeway sent us a statement saying the decision to close the store was not made lightly and all employees will be placed at surrounding stores. Well get the latest now on bart extension into san jose. The new extension will go through downtown san jose and end in the city of santa clara. The project, though, is going to cost more than originally predicted and take 3 years longer. So the estimated final cost is now over 12 billion dollars set 3 billion dollars more than the projects original estimated price tag of just over 9 billion. And this morning the vta general manager said that the vta can absorb that price increase. Were doing Everything Possible as responsible student stewards of taxpayer. No, not at all. In fact, just kind of like the beginning. Its really going to peak more into thursday friday, saturday. But boy, it is beautiful out there. You have to give it that blue skies. Nice and clear temperatures right now in the low 80s in San Francisco, oakland, upper 70s, low 90s in san jose. Livermore in the 80s conquered as well. And santa rosa has really warmed up sitting right now at 94 degrees. So if you are in walnut creek, want to keep that fan going. Yeah, this is your fan forecast over the next several hours. You might even want to kick the ac on. Youre probably going to want to do that as we head over to the next couple of days here taking a live look from the east bay to show you just how lovely it is out there. But temperatures are set to soar. As i mentioned as we get into particularly friday and saturday for those of you in the inland valleys. But notice there is an end to it. Right. So sunday is when well start to see those temperatures pull back too kind of close to seasonal. So High Pressure is in charge. And interestingly enough, its going to continue to migrate a little to the north. First. Before then, dives down and sits right on top of us as we get into friday and saturday. And then here comes low pressure to change everything. Cool us down. That will start on sunday and even bring us. Would you believe a chance of rain . Yes, that is what i said next week. We are under heat advisory starting tomorrow at 11 00am. For those of you who are right along the bay. Also portions of the east bay, south bay, Santa Cruz Mountains. And that does include San Francisco. It is not the north bay, although we will be pretty warl. There is. Well, these are the temperatures for tomorrow that im looking out for. So looking at about 83 in San Francisco, 81 out at Half Moon Bays the coast warming up to some 90s up in the north bay. You can see a little bit higher. The numbers heading down to the south and east bay, but im not extreme to the point of us seeing triple digit heat but certainly warm enough to make sure youre taking good care. Now if youre going to cool down, maybe are going to head out to Half Moon Bay, we are going to see temperatures in that 80 degree mark over the next couple of days before we start to cool down there as well as we get into the latter part of the weekend. So if you want to head to the beach tomorrow, expecting 81 degrees in pacifica, this is going to be way fights about 5 to 8 feet on those north northwest facing beaches. But other than that, there shouldnt be any real coastal danger out there. So if you do want to cool down, not a bad idea, you can see that he does start to kick back as we get to sunday and then it really changes that low pressure drops in. The Contra Costa County office of the sheriff says on monday night deputies responded to a call reporting a 2 yearold boy drowned in a bathtub on california street. Firefighters performed cpr and rushed him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, met it. Some thats a fair. And it because how how can a okay. To all. By up, is president of seiu 10. 21, he represents the School Districts classified employees, which includes custodians and cafeteria workers compensation. Were you guys on compensation . Our members havent had a raise in 4 years. And its been a struggle. As the teachers union, but like to add language to their contract, that would hold management accountable for decisions that impact employees getting paid accurately. And on time at this point is the empower payroll system hasnt been resolved. Now not resolved for every time. Anyone employee. Underpaid or not paid is one too many. Officials with the Francisco Unified School District say that they have proposed a historic package for teachers that includes every sf usd teacher receiving a 10,000 ongoing raise for the 2023 2024 school year. Every sf usd Parent Educator receiving a 30 per hour minimum rate or a 5 increase and every sfu as the teacher and Parent Educator receiving an additional 4 one times Salary Increase according to this of usd website. The latest proposal to seiu 10. 21 members includes a sequence of Salary Increases starting with a 6 retroactive. Raise dating back to july 2022. Followed by a pair of 4 increases that are tied to future budget projections. So we really dont want to go on strike. In San Francisco has view for noon. Lets get into where we are. 91 in san jose and fremont where 90 redwood city, 74 at Half Moon Bay, 83 in downtown San Francisco and berkeley sitting at 87 degrees. You see some of these numbers that really popped like santa rosa sitting right now at about 94. So lots of blue skies, very limited. If any marine layer, frankly, as we get into the evening tonight and if youre wondering is today or tomorrow going to record setting heat will in San Francisco would be a little bit tough because you can see the record today from 1987. Was 100 degrees. That happens. We get extreme offshore. Wind events is starts to dry out and bring that really warm air towards a San Francisco and the coast. That is not the case today and likely were not going to be setting records over the next couple of days, but still well above average. And as you can see, its really about the 90s inland. But 80s around the bay, those were the numbers that you kind of dont see very often around the bay. And then even that 80 degree mark out at the coast, it will start to cool down as we get into the latter half of the weekend. If youd like to cool down a little quicker, this is a live look at diamond peak in lake tahoe. And one of the places, of course, to go to beat the heat will be the coast over the next couple of days. But also lake tahoe is going to be awfully temperatures in the 60s and low 70s looks like is going to be pretty nice weekend there as well. I will be back in just a bit. According to police, 33 yearold ive been Antonio Gonzales exposed himself to 2 women, both in their 20s on sunday. Officers say the first happened on a bike trail near the Railroad Tracks between the berkut air road and unseen avenue at 4. 30, in the afternoon. The victim said that gonzales grabbed her arm when she turned around. She saw that his pants were down. She then left the scene called police and just a few hours after that, a hospital employee reported that gonzales was her patient and he exposed himself twice. Is he receiving as he was receiving medical treatment. Gonzales was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County main jail. The investigation is still ongoing in San Francisco man has been convicted of torturing his girlfriend and he now faces life in prison. Roberta camaro was arrested in february of 2022, the San Francisco District Attorneys Office says the 36 yearold engaged in felony domestic violence, assault and battery over the course of a year and half the jury found him guilty his sentencing has not been scheduled yet. Lawmakers kicked out state representative justin jones and Justin Pearson for their protest calling on gun control on the house floor just days after an Elementary School shooting that killed 6 people. Republicans spared Senate Representative Gloria Johnson from expulsion by just one vote. The lawsuit is against the Tennessee House speaker and the house administrative officials. It says republicans repeatedly blocked jones from speaking during the debate which violated his free speech rights. It also says jones is constitutional. Due process rights were infringed upon by the expulsion proceedings. Jones and pearson were quickly reappointed and then reese elected and reelected in special elections.
