Its the driver or passenger, that person was ejected from the car and then a second accident possibly involving gravel on the roadway. So they have to deal with all of that. And thats taking a lot of time. They want to make sure that the roadways clear and safe before they reopen it to the public. And ive seen this before. James and darya that with the gravel, even if they remove it. Ive seen chp officers drive as fast as they possibly can to that gravel site slam on the brakes just to make sure that their tires grip the road and theres no slippage, which is something they possibly might before they reopen the roadway to make sure that everybody will be safe so they would not be another accident after they leave the scene. The meantime, the westbound direction thats moving along just fine. Now its the eastbound side. Thats still a concern. But hopefully before the end of our 9 oclock newscast, our things will reopen. But in the meantime, morning commute eastbound direction just destroyed as they took cars off the roadway before they even got onto the dumbarton bridge. And im sure my Tag Team Partner reyna harvey. Well be all over that as well. Back to you guys. Yeah, were actually going to check now. Thank you. Reyna. So take it away. What does look like from your perspective . All right. Well, the fallout has been pretty wide reaching across the bay area in terms of our highways here. Will just mention eastbound 80 for the causeway where that accident happened. And thats been closed for most of the morning. The eastbound side. And then you have the westbound side has been open, but its been very slow and sluggish. Know well mention that. He hopped on a 80 took to 37 back on 1, and thats how they got there. Now you could do that. But look at the red and orange. So youre certainly going to get some delays. You could take 8. 80. You could take the westbound side there. If you do need to try to maybe try to hop on that or even take the san mateo bridge. And definitely youre going to see how slow it is in just a moment. First, i want to get another image of the bridge out there. Lets take a look at the dunbar bridge really quickly. This is what it looks like from a different angle you guys have that up there. Look at this, ok . So this is the view from just a wider angle. You can see the eastbound side like well just talked about completely closed down, shut down when they try to get that gravel off the bridge. The westbound side looks like its coming to a very slow sluggish crawl. Its been that way for the past 4 hours this morning as weve been talking about that samberg a san mateo bridge. If you want to hop on that with the fluctuating going back and forth between 24 to 30 minutes for most of the morning. Now at 24 minutes. That means still pretty slow, thankfully, or other bridges havent seen the brunt of the issues. Can you imagine if this was a rainy day . 17 minutes on the bay bridge right now . No accidents there or hazards. Richmond fell bridge about 12 for everybody happen on bart. I dont see any issues there. So thats great. Youre taking one on one in the south bay because maybe youre taken to 37 2, 1, 0, 1, youre going to see delays. 63 minute ride. 85 up to middle part. And weve been talking about the disasters on the roadway. Gayle, just happy that the weather is going to be nice for most of today. And tomorrow. Yeah, were dry today, but thats expected change. Well get to that later on. But were starting we started off with cloudy skies. Now we had some partly cloudy skies. I want to show you temperatures out the door right now. Mild. Seeing a lot of 60s and 50s. At one point i did see some upper 40s in the north bay. So definitely feeling like fall but pretty comfortable. I want to get to your wakeup planner and show you what the rest of the day looks like. So this afternoon, we you can expect sunny skies warm afternoon 60s to low 80s inland and then just a really comfortable night. Back to you and 9, 0, for another big story that were following this morning as bay area. Gas prices. And a lot of people wish they had filled up yesterday. Well, could you that . In one day, prices are going to jump by more than a quarter. But thats exactly what happened, especially up in the north bay. Sandra fell. They saw 0. 26 jump overnight in one night travelers. Michael thomas has been covering this in sanibel talking to drivers. Who said that very thing. One later, it was like i should have gotten a guest yesterday. Good morning, everyone. Thats right. They did. This is probably the day you may want to get those steps in or use your bike to commute because most prices are least around 6, 20 here in the north bay. And experts say its not Getting Better anytime soon. By this weekend, were expected to see another hike. Take a look at these prices weve got put together for you. This is from all around the bay area. And as we mentioned overnight, you see that major job, the highest in sandra fell. 0. 26. Plus overnight now sitting at 607. And its followed by San Francisco, santa rosa and the lowest down in san jose. But even there, its still 5. 88 since monday. The statewide average has risen 0. 21. Its now 6 and 0. 3 overall. California more than 2 higher than the national average, which is 3. 85. Experts say the reason is because the surge oil cost barrels are now around 90 and the refineries down in Southern California are facing some issues regarding maintenance and other things. And its causing this price hike. Take a listen to what drivers had to say today. I asked one driver where she travels, how much she travels and how much is spent. 500, least. Yeah. My parents talked about pulling out pocket change. You know, at the home being able to get somewhere. You know, were making it work. When it comes to again, why . Because they say that those Oil Refineries are having some issues and yesterday down in the south bay, governor gavin newsom was asked by fox news why the prices were so high. He was very transparent. He gas is only taxed around 80 plus sensors. So for the state, but he says it has to do with the Oil Companies and them price gouging. So as we get more information, well keep you updated. But again, you may want to get those steps and or use those bikes like this morning and said her fellow Michael Thomas will send it back to you. Some people may have the choice. Thank you, michael. Its 906. And a man is recovering after he was shot by Fairfield Police because they got reports that it was a man walking with what appeared to be a firearm near middle school. Justin anderson was right next to where this happened. He says he saw the man just after he was shot by the police. I came outside and went out to the back door gate and watched it. And for your health this morning, some people are having a hard time getting an appointment for their covid booster shot pharmacies like cvs are reporting a supply problem with kron 4 Sarah Stinson taking a closer look. I spoke with a ucsf doctor about why its been such a struggle to get the latest booster, he says, because theres been a major change in who is responsible for supplying and paying for you to get the vaccine. The latest moderna and pfizer boosters became available this month. But some people in the bay area are struggling to get a shot. When i looked up appointments on the cvs website for a San Francisco see, i was directed to a location in coma in the next county over and it said no time slots are available. A cvs spokesperson tells kron 4 news its pharmacies are receiving the vaccine on a rolling basis, but theyre experiencing supplier delivery delays. Walgreens did not reply in time for this report. Ucsf doctor peter chin. Hong explains why it hasnt been as easy to get the shot at your local pharmacy. I think all of this is because theres a shift in vaccine distribution. From the government sector to the private sector. And because we have a patchwork of Health Care Delivery in this country. Thats what people are. You know, encountering doctor chinhong says hes confident the boosters will become more accessible in the coming weeks, but he worries any hurdle could deter people from getting the vaccine before cases surge this holiday season. He advises everyone not to give up. If you told one thing this week, please try again next week because this is a rapidly evolving situation. Health experts suggest people get both the booster and the flu shot at the same time and to do so before halloween. You know, its strong. Its right after you get it, but even infection for those older. Any new compromise . I probably advise people to get it i soon as they can, but not to panic. Again, theres a get out of jail card with paxlovid. Even if you get infected. To still keep you away from the hospital, everyone should have access to the vaccine, even if you dont have insurance, you can look up appointments on my turn. Dot ca dot gov. Im sara stinson reporting back to you. Thank you, sarah. It is 9. 10 and still ahead on the kron 4 morning news, a nanny accused of child in the east bay appears in court. Your 4 zone forecast after the break. And we still got a major hot spot on the dunbar bridge. Been slow. It is now for most of the morning on the westbound side. Eastbound side has been completely shut down. 9. 13 and we want to update you on the breaking news, which is the Martin Bridge shut down for a time. The eastbound lanes that is weve got reyna harvey standing by with an update. Good morning, rachel. Good morning. Update for us now. We know that. It should be reopening in the next 30 to 35 were hoping that happens. Thats per chp now eastbound 80 for the causeway is where that accident first happened. We found there were multiple accidents. Also, we had a little bit of spillage on the highway there. Some gravel. So theyve been working on clearing the gravel off the highway for most of the morning. The westbound side has been open again. Weve seen backups and delays throughout the morning. If you are going to take roundabouts maybe 8. 82 37, you still are seeing just a little backup. Its not as red as it was. So that means were seeing just a slight improvement. I want to take a look outside and see how the ridge looks right now. This is as youre 84 eastbound, it will erode. So theyre not letting people on the bridge at 84 eastbound side. Theyre actually directing them off of the highway at university. There. So thats what you see the westbound side, though, where people have been able to freely travel has been pretty slow and sluggish for most of the morning. A check of the san mateo bridge drive times. Theyre 21 minutes a 80 to 101, heading across towards the peninsula. 15 minutes. No accidents on the bay bridge, which our phil ridge looking good. 12 minutes there and 101. Maybe youre taking that because youre going to hop on 82. 37 want to what still slow. Not as bad. A 57 minute ride. 85 to menlo park. I know our traffic has been a nightmare for most of the morning, gayle, but the weather is the complete opposite. Good morning. Good morning, reyna. Good morning, everyone. Yeah, we have quiet weather in store for today, but that is expected to change starting tomorrow. We are we are going to be cooling down. But for now, we just have some partly cloudy skies thats expected to clear out towards the afternoon. So today is that last warm and sunny, nice, comfortable weather weve been experiencing so similar day to yesterday out the door. Right now im seeing widespread 50s and 60s. 57 for you in San Francisco. 58 and tim brown. 51 at fairfax, fairfax, you are 49 earlier this morning. So definitely feels like fall morning. Storm tracker 4 showing overall clear skies to see some clouds just lingering off the coast. But i want to show you the big picture. You see the system in the pacific northwest. This has been cooling us down. Keeping us nice and comfortable. Also a very seasonable averages and also bringing a slight rain. So were expecting another low pressure system to drop starting tomorrow. So as i mentioned today, last nice, sunny day. And as that system drops, maybe friday into saturday, we can expect some rain and even snow in the sierras. So heres the future cast. You can see thursday today looks nice and clear friday, those clouds start to roll in and then you see widespread light rain saturday into saturday evening. Even snow in the sierra. So definitely a change in the weather pattern. Very active. Your daytime highs today. Were staying mild and comfortable so low 80s for you inland 70s along the east bay shoreline 60s by the coast. And we want to get back to breaking news weve been keeping you posted on the dumbarton bridge. Accident that shut down part of the bridge and then cause a mess and a backup all over the place. Yeah, but there is some up optimism that could be opened again in the next maybe half hour. Weve got in the Traffic Center with the latest reyna good morning. Well, thats what chp is saying that theyre going to open the eastbound side, the dunbar bridge in about 25 minutes. Weve been county that down since they told us that. But if youre just tuning in, 84 eastbound at the causeway on the dunbar bridge at Early Morning accident involving multiple vehicles. Also, we a little bit of spillage. So some rocks or gravel on the eastbound side. So they completely shut it down. Still shut down. The westbound side, however, has been open. It has just been very slow. I want to get a look at things outside. See what the bridge looks like at this hour. Thats it right there. You can see the eastbound side completely shut down. Nobody driving all that nolan taken that so westbound side that has been at a very slow crawl and very slow pace for most of the morning. All right. Lets come back out here and get a look at the map. If you are going to be taking some alternate route 8. 80, to 2. 37, 0, 1, 1, might be a good option. Also, you might want to hop on the san mateo bridge. A good option for you. There. Drive times now around 20 minutes, a 80 to 101, traveling across towards peninsula, the bay bridge about 14 minutes. Mason that free much exit. If youre taking that Richmond Center fell bridge an 11 minute right there. 101, the south bay taking that. Now, 53 minutes. 85 up to menlo park. Remember if you are going to hit the roads today. Factor that into your morning drive darya james. Send it back to you. Thank you. Okay. In the south bay, the city of santa clara is highlighting the citys accomplishments and providing a look at whats to come during the state of the city address last night. This years theme was strength in diversity, pride in community. And santa clara mayor lisa gilmore. Talk with us about how the city is preparing for the 2026 super bowl at levis stadium. Last time we had a super bowl in santa clara in super bowl 50. Most of the events were in San Francisco and some in downtown san jose. And we really didnt have a lot santa clara. So this time weve learned from that, we want to make sure that we have and benefit from having the super bowl and the world cup here and and that its helped our businesses. Yeah, the 60th super bowl is set for february 8th of 2026. The world cup will be in the summer of that very same year. It is 9. 27, and up next on the kron, 4 morning news. Theres a new program that starting in San Francisco where people who are suffering 9. 29 right now and the breaking news is the dumbarton bridge being closed because of an accident and were waiting for to reopen. Yeah. That was the promising word from the chp. But when will it happen with kron . Fours will tran out there watching for himself to see when the car start flowing. Good morning. Well. Well, they promised s destination is what they usually do about 9. 45 or so that it could reopen eastbound direction. But so far, as you mentioned, james, no progress. We will zoom in those cars. You see that is the westbound side. That is not the accident site. Its the other side of the screen. The left side. Athats the eastbound direction. And as you can clearly see, no cars are moving along on the left side of your screen because they are still dealing with 2 car accident. We understand one person in the first accident was ejected from the car and then a second car. Possibly gravel involve lost control of the car and theyre dealing with that as well. And that wiped out the eastbound direction for the bulk of the morning commute by the time fingers crossed that it opens up at 9. 45, or 10 oclock in the morning. Well, the damage done as far as people going from the peninsula across the dumbarton bridge to the Newark Fremont area that also cause damage to the westbound side, even though it didnt happen on the westbound side because people were going so slowly past the accident that we showed you all morning this particular place at the toll plaza. It was bumper to bumper for more than an hour or so. Finally it on clogged. As you can clearly see, cars are moving along. But the morning commute as far as the dumbarton bridge concern in both directions severely damaged because of those 2 accidents. James darya ok damage on from home morning. Yeah. And rain to the following. Those ripple effects for the morning commute. Your alternates, all of it. Lets join. Are now the Traffic Center. We certainly had a slow go type of morning. For everybody who decided to take 8. 80, down to 2. 37. Back on to 101. Youre still seeing the delays and like will mentioned the ripple effects from that accident. There. So if you are going to hop on that right now, going to run into a little bit of traffic because it looks like a lot of people decided to take that route today because of that. Now, eastbound westbound side, the 84 westbound thats open. Now you can take that no problem. 84 eastbound that still closed because of that accident, the causeway on the dumbarton bridge. So were keeping a close eye on that. Remember, chp said that should be opening pretty soon, hoping before the 10 oclock hour taking a live look outside right now. Things from a different perspective. You can see of the westbound side coming to a crawl as people start to exit the bridge there. And some people are waiting on the eastbound side to get on the bridge. So again, there have been people exit off the highway at university, the air because of that. Okay. So lets check out the san mateo bridge. If you are going to take that right now, just how long it will take you 80 to 1, 0, 1, 17 minutes to make that right. Fortunately, the roadways arent only issues we have going on out there because bart, weve got a problem, a major delay there thats between south San Francisco and san bruno on the millbrae nurse. A full line, some equipment issues on the track. Thats whats causing that. Hopefully theyre able to clear that up because a lot of folks are a lot on bart checking on other bridges, though, no major issues on the bay bridge. 14 minutes there. Richmond center fell bridge about 11 minute right holes to 101. So were now just waiting for chp to open up the eastbound side of the dunbar bridge. The roads have just been a complete mess of a gallon, hoping the weathers a whole lot better than this. Good morning. Good morning, reyna. Good morning, everyone. Well, we have some pleasant weather today. Its been quiet. So far today, but that is expected to change starting tomorrow. I want to show you this live picture up half moon bay. Its just so beautiful there. But you see, im starting to get a little more cloud. I did see some sunshine earlier, definitely getting it better by the afternoon hours because we have some sunny and nice weather in store in the 60s and low 80s inland. And ill talk about that rain later on in the forecast. Back to you. Thanks a lot. 9. 34 is the time and developing news now.
