We do have enough a remnant tropical moisture from a low pressure area to the south that were actually seeing a brief spot of heavy rain and some cloud to ground lightning that just moved through northeastern Contra Costa County right around brentwood and antioch. It is now making its way into east earn Solano County and just east of fairfield. We do have a spot of hail associated with this popup thunderstorm. So do watch for that. Late last night, former President Trump was indicted for his alleged role in the 2020 election interference. In georgia, now the former president is date along with 19 other defendants. We got washington correspondent basil john, with the latest on that. This is the 4th indictment trump is facing as he has been charged in 3 separate cases just this year. Monday, a grand jury in Fulton County, georgia, issued the 4th set of criminal charges against former President Donald Trump and 18 others charging 19 individuals with violations of georgia law, Fulton County District Attorney fani willis started the investigation 2 years ago and she announced the former president and others were indicted in scheming to overturn the 2020 Election Results in the peach state. The defendants engaged in a criminal recut enterprise to overturn georgias president ial election result. Part of that effort was captured on a recorded call 2 months after the election. The indictment outlines charges of racketeering, conspiracy to commit false statements and soliciting a public officer to violate their oath of office. But willis says her office is nonpartisan. We look at the facts. We look at the law and we bring charges. Willis said the 19 defendants have until noon on august. 25th to voluntarily surrender. San jose workers are awaiting to strike because theyre voting and or theyve offered something to the city council to consider. The council you later this morning. Whats going to happen is 4500 workers in the city of san jose, including 911, dispatchers. They will be walking into work instead of walking to the picket lines, at least for today. It was last week and we took it live for you on the kron. 4 morning news that they announced that they would be going on strike starting today through thursday, overwhelmingly voted. 99 of the 4500 workers. They say theyre not getting paid enough and they wanted to send a message to the city of san jose to go on strike. But they did say that in the meantime, they would continue negotiating. And thats exactly what they did. So whatever theyve come up with and they have not disclosed it yet. Whatever theyve come up with with the 2 sides, its going to be presented to the city council in a closed door session at 9. 30 this morning, depending on what the city council does. If they approve it, theres a good chance. The strike for tomorrow will be called off. But if they dont approve it, obviously that means to strike will happen. It looks like the size or very close skies to the point where the union press pause to allow the city council to decide at last check, the 2 sides were about 13 Million Dollars apart. And that was a difference of 20 Million Dollars at one point. So were going to move to city hall. Well let you know. We now know the identity of the woman who was found dead in golden gate park. This all happening on sunday night. The San Francisco Coroners Office identified the victim is 37 yearold kelly koike of San Francisco. Police say a dog walker found that body around 07 00pm sunday night. Milwaukee, right near still lake as close to where outsidelands was actually being held. Now, the San Francisco standard reports she was actually inside of a duffel bag. One person we spoke to says the park feels different after that woman was found dead at their. Feels a little weird is a little area. Pretty shocking knowing that theres so many thousands of people Walking Around and liked. Dont know. Like anybody seen anything or heard anything. But theres pretty hard to like. Dump somebody in a place where theres like thousands of people Walking Around. Outside lands, they released a statement about the incident saying that, quote, the San Francisco Police Department is currently investigating the reported matter and all questions should be directed to their department. We also reached out to the city supervisor for this area, connie chan and we have not heard back. In the east bay, former oakland chief Laura Armstrong is suing the city for wrongful termination. Armstrong was placed on leave and then fired in february over his handling of to misconduct incidents involving an officer. The allegations they were released by a law firm working for the federal monitor. A lot of the time armstrong accused a report of misstating and miss characterizing statements that he made regarding the incidents and demanded to be reinstated. The sources also told kron 4 the former chief claims he was fired in retaliation for criticizing robert warshaw. Thats the federal monitor who is overseeing the department for over 2 decades. Its not clear what kind of damages armstrong is seeking. The city has not publicly responded to that claim. Time now 7, we want to give you the latest on the devastation on maui. The number of people now confirmed dead is 99. Hawaiis governor says that more than 2,200 structures were destroyed and 86 of those were homes. He says that about 2000 units have been made available for those people been displaced. And on top of that, the governor says that people are now fighting over access to water to fight the fires. State Officials Say theres a shortage of water available for firefighters. They blame the recent ruling by an environmental judge. Thats part of a longrunning battle between environmentalists and private companies over the practice of diverting water from east maui streams. And people across california and the bay area are rallying now together, trying to help all of those people who are suffering because of the wildfires and the devastation on maui. The organization partnered up with vive church to send items to people who survived the Massive Wildfire boxes of. Raising more than 9,000 so far, we dont really realize how much island like now just that specifically that area has impacted families all over the well times, especially here in the bay area. It was very easy. The outpouring of love that we were able to just see just a few on maui. More than 2000 structures burned to the ground, destroying the entire town of la hina. People who survived the wildfire are reeling after losing their homes. And businesses are reality. All too familiar for californians throughout our history with deadly wildfires. More than anybody. Californians know what its like to deal with wildfire. And we know the environmental damage to physical damage and the damage to the economy. Brian rice was a firefighter for 30 years. Hes now the chair of the california fire foundation. It helped raise money for those in need after the camp and car fires. There are so many similarities. In both of those incidents, and whats going on in the higher right now. The foundation has created a relief fund on behalf of the hawaii professional Firefighters Association so that it can be distributed to people displaced on maui. And for firefighters who have been injured or affected by the fires. Nearly 30,000 has been raised so far. I think nows the time for californians. If youre looking west out towards the ocean, you would have been seeing the lightning out that direction this morning. Its the opposite direction. And we actually do have a little spot of hail just east of fairfield, the right there as you head out into the delta associated with one of those cells that is popping up. So most of us are looking at some clear conditions. But if you look out towards the eastern horizon, especially youll notice those dark, isolated cumulus clouds building. And thats exactly what were seeing out that way. Now, this low pressure area to the south, this is the remnants of a tropical system that has been flaring up. Those isolated pockets of convection the past few days certainly did so yesterday with a band of monsoonal moisture that was wrapping right across the region. We do still have the remnants of that going on this morning. That low is actually going make its way a little further northward over the next few days. Its doing something surprising. Its cutting off of what access from that ocean. Cool there, which is why are inland areas are consistently rising into the 90s to triple digits. Why weve been so hot inland and still nice and cool at the coastline. Today is going to be another one of those days with cool conditions, very comfortable in areas like San Francisco. Well, you head inland and its just going to be another scorcher bay area day down the wide range of temperatures. Weve got thats kind of just what you expect. Sometimes this time of year 60s and 70s for the coast. A lot of 80s along the bay shore, burlingame, normally cool all the way up to 86 today. New details this morning from a nearly 100 page indictment names former President Donald Trump and his inner circle. Specifically the participants in association took various actions in georgia and elsewhere to block the counting of the votes of the president ial electors. The charges stem from this leaked phone call, mister trump made to georgias secretary of state in january 2021. Days before the capitol breach. I just want to 11,000, 780. Loves according to prosecutors. That called violates georgia law by soliciting a public official to violate their oath over a twoyear investigation. Prosecutors say they also found evidence of mister trump making false statements conspiring to commit forgery, conspiracy to commit impersonating a public officer and conspiracy to commit filing false documents. In total, mister trump faces 13 charges. The rest are spread out among 18 Trump Campaign allies, District Attorney fani willis says they will all be tried together. We do want to move this case along. And so we will be asking for a proposed order that occurs a trial date within the next 6 months. The other 18 facing charges including trumps former personal attorney, rudy giuliani. Trumps white house chief of staff mark meadows, Attorney Sidney Powell and jeffrey bossert, clark, former high Ranking Justice Department official. They face a variety of charges ranging from allegedly tampering with Voting Machines and stealing data intimidating election workers to trying to appoint new electors favorable of mister trump. Prosecutors say because they were all working together with the same goal and can paint that picture using georgias racketeering act. Through participation in a criminal enterprise in Fulton County, georgia, and elsewhere to accomplish the eagle goal of allowing donald j trump. 2 feet the president ial charm of office. In fact, he is leaving almost every poll among the current gop president ial candidates. All right. Time for back to school and on the peninsula. San mateo is aiming to keep our kids safe as they head back to school. And so be careful driving around the school. They are lowering the limit around multiple elementary and middle schools. Kron fours. Michael thomas is live in san mateo with a look. Yeah, good morning, everyone. There goes the school bus behind me. Theres no children on it. I know i thought School Started earlier, but ultimately they really just want to keep people safe. You know, were talking about more than a dozen schools. Its affecting right now. Take a look at this map. We have. These are some of the 13 schools. Majority of them are going to be either elementary or middle schools that now have these reduced speed limits nearby. The new speeds will range from 15 to 25 Miles Per Hour with lower speeds like 15 miles an hour being hosted directly in front of the schools and then well see higher speed like 25 that will be posted. Farther out that leads up to the the Council Approved 3 phases of this speed limit changes earlier this year. And right now theyre focusing on middle and elementary schools. A second phase will consist of them focusing on private middle and elementary schools. And then the last phase will actually focus on all high schools, both public and private and actually take place this school year. Were talking about a total of 38 road segments will be affected and then near 23 schools in total. All of these will happen within 500 to 1000 feet of the schools. And officials really just want to try to keep people safe. May also want to bring numbers down. And lastly, they want to encourage people to start walking or biking to school. So it looks like people are just starting to arrive. There were a dozen Automated Vehicles member, the Driverless Cars and they clog the city streets in San Francisco. Aaron peskin says that what happened friday night, which we saw in north beach is just the latest problem involving Driverless Cars. More than 50 documented cases regarding these have been reported. And as we know, the California Public Utilities Commission just last thursday, granted a broad expansion of the car so they can now start running in San Francisco in charging people a fee and taking passengers route. Peskin is calling on federal and state regulars now to step in before he says that something dangerous might happen. Officers responded. They found 3 people dead in the home. The adult who died in the incident is believed to be the girls father. Police are still investigating all thing. Teenagers as young as 13 are among 6 people who face retail theft charg. San Francisco Police say that a total of 6 people burglarized a business on fill near pine last thurs the group filled big bags with ndis officers tracked them down in ssio district arrested them and their ages range from 13 to 20 years old. San franciscos laguna honda hospital. They apply for recertification with federal regulators. Hospital lost its Medicare Medicaid funding after several scandals happen, including claims of patient abuse, patient overdoses and even some safety violations.
