The most recent shooting happened about 2. 30, this afternoon right in front of the lake merritt bart station at 8th and oak streets. Thats where we find kron fours amanda hari with the very latest demand. police have been here on the scene for about 3 and a half hours. It looks like theyre starting to wrap up their investigation, but they are still here working near the bart station. So this part of the bart station here on oak street is closed off. You have to go around to the other entrance to go down into bart. But bart is operating year now. The shooting happened just after 2. 30, in adult man was fatally shot on the street level here at 8th and oak street near the lake merritt bart station by the bus stone. So far, police and Oakland Police responded. Bart police did a search and they ended up taking a man into custody within 90 minutes of the shooting. Just a was briefly closed for about a half hour. But reopened for normal service at 3. 10, pm it may look closed on this side but it is open. You just cant go in this entrance here. Police say the 2 men involved in the shooting, the suspect and the person who was fatally shot. They dont believe those people were bart riders just here. Just 10 minutes earlier at the Martin Luther king junior regional shoreline boat launch sense near the oakland airport. Officers with opd and east bay Regional Park district. Police say they found a man who was shot and killed about 2. 20, this afternoon. That investigation is also still ongoing. 4 months after a home depot employee was shot and killed after confronting a suspected shoplifter in pleasanton. Theres been another incident this time at a home depot in san carlos. No one died in monday nights incident, but the shoplifting suspect was shot and wounded by home depot Security Guard kron fours. Dan kerman has the latest. About 10 monday night as this Home Depot Store in san carlos was closing. Authorities say a Security Guard in a store employee confronted a suspected shoplifter at the Self Checkout area. A physical altercation started. At some point during the altercation. The suspect managed to grabbed the Security Guards, a baton. The suspect then struck the Security Guard in the head and face. Area with a time Security Guard discharge a firearm shooting 2 rounds, one of them hit the suspect. Sheriffs deputies in the area heard the shots arrived on scene and detain the suspect while providing first aid to both the suspect and the Security Guard until paramedics arrived. The did not sustain lifethreatening injuries. He was transferred to a local hospital since been released. And hes in our custody here in downtown of the city. The suspect identified as 26 yearold Jonathan Mackey was arrested for robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. Im glad that the guys in custody, so were a little safer. Tuesday, many shopping near this home depot, a doubt heard about the incident today. Just happened to be with my daughter, errands and actually told her this is a pretty sketchy parking lot. I think that people can see that as vulnerable and take advantage the shooting raises the question whether store security should be confronting suspected shoplifters. In the north bay teachers in the sausalito and Marin City School District could soon be going on strike after months of negotiations. Contract talks between teachers and the School District have now hit a wall. The Sausalito District Teachers Association says their teachers have been working without a contract since june of last year after 7 months of talking, the 2 sides have failed to reach an agreement. And according to the teachers association, the main Sticking Point seems to be wages. They say the district has offered a 4 raise this year and a 4 increase next year. But the union says that does not even come close to covering the cost of living increases. The teachers are deaeing with. We have reached out to the sausalito marion School District for comment. But so far we have not heard back. And also in the south bay, san jose continues to negotiate with the 2 unions representing city employees. This is all coming as a threeday strike is set to begin in exactly one week next tuesday, city workers are asking for improved pay and benefits and are proposing pay hikes of up to 7 . But the city is offering pay hikes of up to 5 . A closed door meeting was held today to try and come to an agreement. But were being told no progress was made. The shooting was friday night around. 10 oclock in orinda vehicle with 3 people inside was reportedly heading westbound near the Saint Stephens drive exit when they say they heard several gunshots. Thats when the chp says the driver and front passenger realized the man sitting in the back of the vehicle had been shot. They rushed to a local hospital, but that man did not survive at this time.
