So investigation obviously into the cause is still unfolding. But it turns out that a lot of the neighbors nearby had been warning the city for months about nearby homeless encampments in the fires that were being with there. You talked to some neighbors yesterday and have you reached out to anybody this morninga . Yeah. Good morning. Everyone know i have not spoken with any neighbors. People are just waking up. But behind me, theyre still really deconstructing. Whats left of this coming light that was eventually going to be an Apartment Building. I mean, take a look. Theyve already taken off 2 stories. They tell me and honestly, it looks like its just one win blow away from completely falling off. And we talk about those neighbors in the neighborhood association. They say that they were afraid of this. Lets go video from yesterday. You can see just how massive this fire was. And this is exactly with. The Neighbors Association says they were afraid of any sent a letter to city leaders back on may 30th the saying that they wanted something to be done. And, you know, theres been a handful of fires here in the area around tent encampments and that at the end of march, a car was even lit on fire behind this construction site in early april. There were 2 more fires nearby. And in fact, one of them is listed as a construction site fire off hickory street in octavia boulevard, which is actually the cross streets at the behind the construction site that burned down yesterday. Lets get details up on your screen. You can see this is part of that letter that was sent. It says, quote, our neighborhood and our city i literally being trashed and set fire. And you all are doing nothing about it. Were asyou to take these issues seriously and remove encampments that pose a danger to ous community. In total, there were 8 that were displaced and it damaged 5 neighboring buildings back out here live. They felt it was vital for the community to know the details. Its any parents worst nightmare. Their child in danger somewhere. They should be safe. Milpitas. Police say they started investigating inappropriate relationship. Between 51 yearold fue coo of fremont and a 14 yearold on july 13. During that time the victim get this close, inappropriate physical contact and communication with the suspect. Who is the coowner and a coach at being tang badminton in milpitas. He also coowns other being tank facilities in the bay area. Lieutenant Tyler Jamison says the inappropriate contact happened at the milpitas facility with this case, specifically out of an abundance of caution. Havent reported a similar incident being tank in also has facilities in campbell dublin, san carlos, burlingame and santa clara. Lieutenant jamison says parents should talk to their children about these types of situations and look out for signs of trauma. Time your kids are involved sports. The chp is now investigating a fatal crash that involved 4 cars. The crash happened last night. It was at 7 oclock on highway one 16 right near the community of lake. Fill up in sonoma county. The chp says 3 cars are traveling. Westbound is somehow got involved in a crash with a truck that was coming in the opposite direction. They say one person died in the crash. There were major injuries. They have closed part of that highway from old adobe road to walk my road for several hours while they investigated the accident. Happening today, fastfood workers in san jose are planning to go on strike. Theyre demanding the city address low pay and Workplace Violence and unsafe working conditions. And members are investigating how far it is actually spread with kron 4 Sarah Stinson with a closer look. Be on the lookout for that brown water. Its already spreading to shores across the bay area. Scientists say since it was so deadly last year, theyre worried about what another bloom could do to our ecosystem. Francisco baykeeper received reports from its pollution hotline about discolored brown water in the Berkeley Marina investigation. Team. Went out scanned the east shoreline and found that the brown water actually extended from emeryville up to albany. Scientists took samples and confirmed to be the same algae that bloomed last year, killing thousands of fish hatteras xi. Well. Which forms a red tide when it when it blooms. This organism is an algae that occurs in the bay naturally. When it gets out of balance, it can cause a bloom harming fish. There are no reports of a big fish kill so far but the algae is reportedly spreading. Richman. Were getting reports from timber on and also off the coast of the peninsula that on the bay side and up into the and some public they keep are still investigating and testing the water in those areas. Normally the red tide is not known to be a Public Health risk, but there are some precautions you can take. Should the plume become worse . The advice is. Im just keep your eyes keeping those if water looks discolored or smells funky, then its probably best not to swim in or let your dog swimming scientists fear another bloom could be detrimental to the base ecosystem. It would be really bad. Our fish and wildlife in San Francisco bay are already struggling from a bunch of things to minimize harm bay keeper. Scientists are calling on the Regional Water board to limit the nutrient pollution that goes into the bay from wastewater plants. People cut attending sideshows in Alameda County could end up in jail. But not for as long as originally planned. Weve late word from the board of supervisors last night. They voted to cut that jail time in half for Stephanie Justice live in fremont now with what exactly that means. Good morning, tiffany. Good morning, right. Alameda county board of supervisors voted tuesday night to reduce the jail time for sideshows. Spectators. The updated ordinance now cuts down the jail time from 6 months to 3. We know the changes were approved by a 3 to one vote. The board of supervisors first put this ordinance in place stop the increasing number of sideshows are seeing in the county and the amount of people who are attending the sideshows. The first ordinance was passed on july. 11th include jail time and a fine geared towards spectators who were 200 feet of a sideshow. Besides facing up to 3 months in jail, spectators could be charged with a misdemeanor and be fined up to 1000. The board president says the original ordinance inadvertently failed to include an amendment. The board had voted ought to lower the potential jail terms. What it was originally passed on july. 11th. There is some pushback from attorneys who questioned the legality of changing people are charging people with crimes who are on public property who may or may not be viewing those sideshows. The Alameda County public defender, brendon woods is questioning the ordinance constitutionality and is concerned about people of color being swept up by this law as well for Law Enforcement to prove this violation. The indictment states that trump had 6 coconspirators assist him in his criminal efforts to overturn the election and retain power, though they were not named and havent been charged. U. S. In reaction trumps former Vice President mike pence said that anyone who puts himself over the constitution should never be president of the united states. But trump is pushing back against the charges and slammed the Justice Department on social media claiming this latest indictment is politically motivated and an attempt to stop his reelection bid. And in that indictment, prosecutors say that trump knew he had lost the twentytwenty election but still continued to spread lies and misinformation.
