Is a catch to today and that is those winds as you venture outside maybe for your thanksgiving meal later on today looking outside from our sutro tower cam it is an absolutely beautiful morning not a cloud in the sky and we could actually think some of these northeastern winds for that keeping any fog marine layer out of the bay area that means were going to be pretty mild all the way out to the coast today, so even our coastal areas can get out there without the worry of any sort of fog pushing in across the region. Radar shows a very quiet picture we do zoom out across the region and there are continued showers up in the pacific northwest, but the oregon activity that i was talking about yesterday has even come down so it is really quiet picture out here what we do has is these offshore winds so temperatures are fairly mild to start the morning with 40s 50s and then some 30s for inland areas like we were yesterday, dublin in conquered egypt down into the south bay also couple 30s down there while the north bay, a big warm up from yesterday and that is actually due to these winds so quite the range of temperatures you can see oakland conquered, hey were down from current temperatures. But also the north bay up and as ive been talking about that is a product of some of the stronger winds in the north bay so sonoma calistoga petaluma severe breezier areas right now lets get a look at what its going to be looking like later today as you do maybe venture outside into the backyard for that thanksgiving feast this is right after noontime, Sonoma Petaluma and napa still very breezy other areas like San Francisco and oakland not quite as windy at this time but do expect some breezy conditions on and off well throughout the day so youre definitely not. 100 looking at just beautiful calm conditions. We do have those beautiful clear skies in the mild temperatures in the mid to upper 60s. But we do have the to contend with so if you have the table clout out there make sure thats but down and just make sure that you get outside and enjoy the day most of all back to you james. All right, thanks very much. John while were keeping our eye on the roads. On this thanksgiving day the chp dont forget out in full force. A practicing maximum enforcement to make sure that everyone is driving safely so be careful on the roads aaa is expecting to see a higher turnout the rough highways and byways despite the pandemic in fact they say 95 of travelers are expected to be driving to their destinations this Holiday Season. Officer brandon korea with the california Highway Patrol says that while the roads in the bay area have been slow overall during the pandemic speeding has been a problem and to encourage safe travel officers again are going to be out in full force. Well you down there is a completely avoidable part of the crash is your speed you can control that right from checkpoints to the max amount of officers out looking for impaired drivers that starts with maybe this specific type driving behavior and then pull that person over see it there just may be distracted on their phone. Thats another reason we saw people so stay after phones dont be distracted. We drive. And again the chp is maximum enforcement is from now through the holiday weekend. Well happening now volunteers with the Salvation Army will be delivering thanksgiving too with thanksgiving meals to those in need there are a number of changes to the way these meals will be delivered however because obviously theres a pandemic this year with kron 4 Sarah Stinson live in San Francisco with more on that story good morning sir. Good morning james and happy thanksgiving. You would think with the pandemic they have to cancel an event like this, but no Salvation Army is pushing through and theyre doing everything they can to keep the volunteers safe so they can pick up the meals and deliver them to those in need we know 4,800 meals will be delivered today. So thats joining us here on the distance is a major Matthew Madsen and so tell me how this is all going to work and from photographer will show people exactly behind you how it will. Well good morning and happy thanksgiving. Its a Beautiful Day and we didnt have rain were praying for no rain we got me think before weve got 450 volunteers that helped us pull this thing off weve got all sorts of food, weve got dry packs weve got fresh food items at a Catering Company has allowed us to to get some food and some quality items we had some real disaster happened. Were Catering Company went out of business that we were working with and so the last minute they came in and said were going to save the day and they have and ross till they did a great job for us down in campbell look im up there doing good work. So were going to have this lanes these lanes here going to be filled with people driving up theyve already preregister theyve got root of 2040 sometimes even more. Theyre going to come by theyre going to check in were going to verify they are who they say they are and theyre going to pop their truck were going to throw these meals and there and then theyre off and were going to hit 4,800 people in most of these people this will be the only person they see all day and were going to bless a bless the socks off from this christmas and thanksgiving. Oh yeah, its a lynx giving so i remember when i followed the crews going out last year the volunteers, it really was incredible to see the face of the person receiving there a lot of them elderly just like oh i cant wait to see someone explain those who are in need who are receiving these boxes. So many of the folks that were delivering today our seniors and because of this virus. Theyre afraid to leave their homes. Theyre afraid to leave where theyre at because theyre the most vulnerable and so were taking extra precautions everybody here is wearing ppe were keeping socially distant and and some in some instances there their entire apartment complexes where were going to be delivering it to the management and then theyre going to distribute it and they feel more comfortable with the people that they know and so were being very censitive to that but we want to make sure that the most vulnerable are taken care of and have Something Special to be thankful for today. And the needs always there. But this year going to pandemic many people have lost their jobs. Many people are struggling still more of a need are you seeing, i know 1000 more meals are going out today some must be more of an e. There was a massive increase in fact we had to cut it off at some point because you got to order the food and everything to make it happen if we didnt cut it off at 4800 which is a 1000 more than weve done before we probably have doubled our numbers from last year the need is that real. And so what else can people expect today if youre someone receiving youre watching this what would you say to them. I hope youre hungry. It looks good. I took a look at one of them and they look great so enjoy and god bless you and thank you so much for joining us and well be live here this morning to show you all of the action. The volunteers are going to be here in about an hour its going to be pretty busy blocked off those lanes of the cars are going to be driving in and that is when the magic is going to happen so make sure to join us right here on the kron 44 morning news for your thanksgiving morning, ill send it back to you james is in to see that operation getting underway. This morning sarah. Thank you so much and cant wait to get back out there. As those meals begin to be handed out at 7 07 also happening right now we have historic live before church in San Francisco holding its annual thanksgiving celebration. But with covid a Safety Measures in mind of course so this morning those in need can pick up a meal to go or dine outside under 3 tents have been set up. Glad also plans to deliver 200 meals to encampments across the city. So glide they say plans to serve a couple 1000 meals in front of their church which is located there on the 300 block of ellis between taylor and joan streets. Meals will be served between 09 00am and 01 00pm so thats set to get underway in just a couple of hours from right now. And ahead of thanksgiving when so many people are lucky and thankful to have full plates of food in front of them, its important to recognize where that food came from and how it got your plate united farm workers of america is showing what it takes to make thanksgiving happening for all of us. This is video from their twitter page. How is the lettuce harvests ensure on california on the last day of the season for these farm workers and they are just moving at lightning speed you can see just how fast. Those skilled workers are. And this is no easy task by the way united farm workers also shared this photo too. This is pri trisha she runs a 1. 86 per crate of 60 bundles of radishes. The ufw says that she is an incredibly skilled workers but is also a frequent volunteer and a strong advocate for her coworkers as well so thats just a glimpse at some of the work that goes in to making that plate of food in front of you today, a reality. And love will always win in rodeo phillipe djegal all kron 4 news. 7. 11 on this thanksgiving. Still ahead on the kron 4 morning news, the bay area air Quality Management district is asking people not to burn wood this thanksgiving. Well try to help keep the air pollution from rising to unhealthy levels plus in the south bay we have Santa Clara County leaders there desperately asking the Latino Community to avoid large gatherings this thanksgiving will explain why and then after the break. We have a message of unity from president elect joe biden will share that with you coming up. And it sure is a beautiful morning, lots of sunshine out there across the bay area watch out for a steady breeze through the day though thats the only catch your thanksgiving forecast otherwise, the 60s going to be looking really nice your forecast ahead. In just a few months, weve learned a lot more about the covid19 virus. Its real. And its dangerous. So, on behalf of all of us working on the front lines, please take it seriously. And while we dont yet have a cure or a vaccine, we do know how to keep you and your loved ones safe. Wear a mask. Wash your hands. Stay six feet apart. Do your best to stay out of crowded spaces. And get a flu shot, its even more important this year. We can do this. If we do it together. And back at 7. 15 president elect joe biden delivered a nationwide address on the eve of thanksgiving. As Dean Reynolds reports biden is optimistic, but also realistic about the pandemic and the urgent need for all americans to unite against it. This divided us. Anger this. Send us against one. I know the country has grown wary of the fight. We need to remember. Were at war with the virus. Not with one another now with each other while President Trump continues to dispute the Election Results with unproven accusations of widespread voter fraud. Mister biden attempted to don the mantle of leadership with this speech delivered in measured tones barely above a whisper it times. He said grim truths will lead to a Brighter Future many local Health Systems are at risk of being overwhelmed. Thats the plain and simple truth. Nothing made up its real. I believe you always deserve to hear the truth. Hear the truth from your present the president elect promise several steps from day one of his presidency more testing stricter isolation of those who fall ill, more protective gear for businesses and schools and clear guidance on how to best keep them open. He also pointed out that the federal government has great power which he will use against the virus but. The federal government cant do this along. Each of us has a responsibility in their own lives. Do what we can do. Slow fire. He spoke of the need to follow the guidelines still ignored by many to wear masks to social distance and to limit the size of Group Settings and he referred to real tangible hope the vaccines will help stop the viral spread. He predicted the bitter aftermath of the campaign will give way to what he called a year of light and unity i think so because america is a nation. Not of adversaries, but of neighbors. A lot of limitations for the possibilities. A lot of dreams deferred dreams realize better days, he said lie ahead the less you self surrender to the fatigue which i understand it is real 14. I know we can and we will beat this virus. America is not going to lose this war. That was dan reynolds, reporting the president elect said that people should be thankful this year to live in a democracy where more than a 150 Million People freely voted. Biden added the verdict of those voters is clear in his words, he says americans want solutions not shouting. Reason not hyper partisanship. 7. 17 is the time. All right, lets turn the attention back here to the bay area on this thanksgiving. We have john trouble with a look at our holiday forecast today. I know theres going to be at least one or 2 people out there john have to make a last minute dash to the Grocery Store because they forgot something well kind of weather we got it maybe just one or 2 of us die by might be encountering a few lines out there, but some good weather for those lines. Good weather for wherever you may be doing as you do head out for your thanksgiving today. Now of course we want you to be its the small pocket people as possible as you do venture outside and good weather today for lots of sunshine overhead berkeley looking, nice and clear thats the case across the bay area. Were not looking at any fog across the region is an offshore wind actually sets up shop with us what this is going to do for us as its going to keep us really clear as we work our way through your thanksgiving so whether youre at the coast or whether youre inland do expect those sunny skies. We are seeing those winds though, and that is the one catch to your thanksgiving forecast because otherwise its perfectly mormon perfectly sunny which is what we were hoping for breezy conditions, especially for the southern part of the state la is really in the midst of this offshore wind what were seeing here in the bay area is a steady wind though sonoma atlas peak Napa Fairfield conquer danville calistoga petaluma even San Francisco and sandra fell all checking in with some pretty breezy conditions. This morning and conditions will remain breezy. Well into the middle of your day today so just plan on that as you plan out your day ahead of us otherwise its looking great, i mean these temperatures quite the treat. We will be seeing mission in financial districts at 66 degrees today look at the 60s right up and down the coastline if thats not an offshore wind that is going to keep you nice and warm right there south San Francisco in burlingame at 66 as well while san carlos woodside foster city also sharing those double sixes. Santa Clara Campbell and san jose a couple degrees down from where the rest of us are at 63. W also be at 63 today look at Oakland San Leandro richmond conquered also at that warmer number of 66 Degrees North bay temperatures fairfield that 67 binney 68 1 of our warmest of spots today. Well the bottle in petaluma also right at 66 today, so temperatures are quite comfortable as you can see now as we work our way through this forecast ahead of us dont mind the turkey on friday, we will be looking at conditions out there in the 30s for inland evening, lows, 40s for bayside in coastal evening lows. Very notably all that sunshine thats not going anywhere anytime soon. James all right john thanks very back to our election coverage. We have more states now that are continuing to certify their Election Results. And at this point the president s unsupported claims of widespread voter fraud are not impeding the transfer of power. In the white house to the new biden administration. The president elect is set to receive his first president ial daily brief on monday with washington dc correspondent alexandra le mon now with more on the transition. Weve been very encouraged by the progress that has been made over the last few days after weeks of delays and stonewalling by the Trump Administration bidens team says the transition process is now moving full speed ahead the career Civil Servants have been incredibly forthcoming at the same time the Trump Campaign continues its fight to overturn the Election Results. The president s lawyer Rudy Giuliani tried again wednesday at a meeting hosted by Pennsylvania State republicans the state legislature that controls this process. Its your power. Meanwhile, joe biden said he would meet with President Trump if the president asked but bidens team says a meeting isnt necessary in the coming weeks biden will announce more cabinet positions, including secretary of defense cia director and secretary of health and Human Services given how health team will moving forward but certainly as we work to get the pandemic under control democratic california congressman lou correa address speculation that biden could appoint a republican to his cabinet if. President elect biden hines a republican whose expertise is needed in his cabinet. Then by all means we should move republican nominee could build goodwill in the u. S. Senate where bidens nominees could face tough hearings if republicans maintain their majority. In washington alexandra le mon. 7. 21 time coming up next on the kron 4 morning news theres a reason you may be seeing a small selection at Retail Stores will tell retailers are hoping to achieve by cutting down on the styles and stock. Coming up after the break. Even the smallest surprise. Can make a big memory. Worthy of passing on. Kinder joy treat plus toy a little surprise goes a long way. Time now 7. 24 as americans start their holiday shopping. We may see fewer choices than before we have jane king reporting now the retailers are cutting styles to combat decision paralysis and unclog supply chains and maybe even reduce some of these end of season markdowns. Coach is cutting its him back styles by half spend up to be on reducing its can opener selection by 2 thirds in coles is calling its towel offerings by nearly death. Its thanksgiving day families are making a mad dash to a lot of local Grocery Store were going to tell say plan to celebrate home stay safe. Well have that story next. Wild thing, you make my heart sing wild thing i. Think i. You know what i think . I think you owe us 48. 50. Wild thing. If you ride, you get it. Geico motorcycle. Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or more. If ytheres no bad time to start at amazon. E. I like the flexibility. It also allows for picking up shifts. Safety comes first, speed comes second. Safety. Safety. Safety. Were making sure that somebody is getting their very important items. It makes me very happy. And we are back at 7. 30 happy thanksgiving. If youre just joining us hopefully your day starting out well i know johns in the Weather Center keeping an eye on the forecast because its going to be important for a lot of families out there today you can see behind me to its a touch. Breezezto start the day good morning. John yeah i couldnt have it just absolutely perfect on thanksgiving, but pretty close to it, i knknow it is windy out there as you can see the palm ssings around the embarcadero right here kind blowing around and that breeze what we are going to be seeing those the sunshine that youre also noticing staying around through the day and a bit of a warmup today as compared to where we were yesterday a look outside from our sutro tower view shows you all the sunshine that we are already seeing. Of course it is windy so we will start with that sonoma was peak calistoga petaluma even Half Moon Bay checking in with wind speeds above 10 Miles Per Hour. So a breezy start but theres winds in pockets so at times it will be calm at times that wind will pick up just plan on that is maybe you set the table outside this year for thanksgiving. Sonoma petaluma napa towards the time we work our way towards 01 00pm today which is what a lot of you probably will be eating is also looking at some pretty windy conditions up in the north base, especially for the north bay. Do watch out for those winds, lets focus on the good stuff now all that sanshine that were seeing that certainly a nice thing we are going to be seeing calm conditions all across the bay area and the state in general good travel weather today tomorrow into the weekend after thanksgiving. Really for the rest of the forecast after that to not looking much of change going on here were in the 30s 40s or 50s right now pretty wide range of temperatures, cooler spots include san jose dublin in concord in the 30s in the meantime much of the north bay is actually seeing a big rise in temperatures this morning petaluma and santa rosa from yesterdays 30s to the mid 40s this morning and part of the reason our north bay cities are so much warmer this morning than yesterday are those strong winds that are keeping those layers mixed Oakland Hayward in concord in the meantime starting off a little bit cooler, so you do want to keep the jacket on as you venture out this morning. Later today just the sweater or light jacket youll be good to go as you get outside. I would recommend if you are eating outside eating between the hours of noon and 04 00pm. Thatsswhen were going to be in those mid 60s and at our most comfortable, plenty more details in your forecast still to come. James all right john thank you very much, heres a quick check of the traffic and it really isnt a whole lot to talk about as were seeing really nice conditions here on the bay bridge approach. And theres pretty much what well expect all day today with some pretty light conditions. Stpeople staying close totohome for thanksgiving, so were seeing this here were seeing at the Golden Gate Bridge in just about every other major roadway across the bay area so enjoy that as you head out this morning and theres a shot of the Golden Gate Bridge you can see theres hardly any traffic on there at all and those really brilliant blue skies that were enjoying this morning but as john said you can see the flag there on the righthand side. It is a little windy to start the day but all in all not bad of a thanksgiving. Well we are course celebrating thanksgiving in the middle of the pandemic so we have to keep you updated on the latest with the coronavirus cases continue to surge as were heading into the holiday and Health Officials are urging people again not to travel and potentially invite the virus into a Family Gathering either for thanksgiving or for the december holidays ahead of us. The cdc is projecting that covid19 deaths will increase over the next 4 weeks and that potentially by december 19th we could be looking at between 10,000 to 20,000 new covid related deaths with more than 2000 covid related deaths yesterday alone the country reported the highest one day coronavirus death toll since early may more than 261,000 americans have lost their lives. Due to the virus. Nearly 13 million cases have been recorded in the country as well as we continue to track the very latest with the numbers not only across the bay area but here locally as well so were keeping a real close eye on that california by the way saw the biggest singleday increase in covid cases since the beginning of the pandemic in the last few days the state has reported more than 18 1000 new cases, the state Health Department says hospitalizations are up 88 now over the last 2 weeks and icu admissions up 57 in the last 2 weeks in total there been more than a million recorded cases and nearly 19,000 related deaths for california alone. Well the surge in cases and deaths is why having a safe thanksgiving gathering with her family is extremely important. The cdc has put out countless guidelines and warnings to make sure that your gatherings are small and with your household only kron fours reyna harvey is live at a safeway in lafayette though where people im sure are going to be out grabbing last minute items, good morning, the morning james and happy thanksgiving to everybody watching this morning and you just drop some numbers and it seems like for the most part people that ive talked to out here are all heating the Health Officials warning taking it very seriously and making plans to keep them and their loved ones say they had one gentleman tell me hes not going to spend time with family this year. He said he has zoomed easy as facebook he also mention youtube i dont really know how that works in terms of connecting with your family but hes got to figure out and hes doing that a lot of people are just keeping it to their singular Household Group and if they are going to do that people are doing on plate pickups lot of people if they are going to be going outside of their home celebrate with loved ones theyre making sure that they are Wearing Masks or practicing social distancing and like you mentioned the numbers are there and so Health Officials are saying they dont want cases continue to rise they dont looking to get worse and thats why theyre warning family sold. I came out safely out here in lafayette get a pulse of how people are going to be celebrating today years of families had to say take a listen. All im not going to be up in nevada with family so. Thats a but all will be all right. Yes kate you so thats so good. Just us my sons and my wife and i so just the 4 of us use its a lot bigger. You know we want to stay safe and in kind of fall in line with the rest of the will hopefully. Yeah, you know thats pretty much what everybody is trying to figure out how to celebrate with one another its been a rough year for a lot of people in they just want to see their loved ones, however i had someone Say Something to me earlier this morning that that was really powerful they said you know if you want to continue celebrating with your family. Next year weve got to make sacrifices this time around so it sounds like a lot of people are doing that and getting creative. So thats going to be what people are doing for the day i know you also mention john when you get the forecast outside between noon and 4 would be good times mean if you are going to outside now would be the time because its very cold, whatever you decide to do stay safe with your loved ones for now reporting near lafayette reyna harvey kron 4 news absolutely or thank you very much rain will come back and chat with him some more throughout the morning. Lets turn our attention to the south bay now Santa Clara County leaders have been issuing a desperate plea for the Latino Community in particular to avoid large gatherings this thanksgiving. This as the hispanic and Latin X Community has become the hardest hit from the virus 26 of the population in Santa Clara County is hispanic. But that same group makes up nearly 60 of the countys covid cases. Leaders who are desperate to slow the spread are hoping that this holiday. The wont include the virus. For thanksgiving. We want to make sure that youre safe and your families are safe. So please. Demonstrate you love your family by calling them. Socially distance and washing your hands. Right now Santa Clara County is in the states most restrictive tier, the purple tier fact just yesterday the county saw 512 new cases thats the highest singleday number since the pandemic began. Well take a break or 7. 37 coming up next on the kron 00 00am morning news, Vice President elect Kamala Harris says the shell fight to make sure the most vulnerable have access to resources as Food Insecurity rising. And of course today offering up lots of sunshine and important day for a good forecast. We are going to be seeing sunshine and warm, but also a pretty steady breeze as we make our way through your holiday ive got the details on exactly what to expect in your forecast. Were back at 7. 40 americans are lining up in historic numbers at food banks across the country this week as more and more people continue to be impacted by the pandemic and you can see just a few examples here but were talking about many people dont have the resources to meet their basic needs which has left millions suffering from whats called Food Insecurity. Well Vice President elect Kamala Harris is sharing the holiday spirit by visiting and feeding some of those most vulnerable. In the Nations Capital washington dc central kitchen says it expects to serve about 10,000 meals today. Harris says that Food Insecurity is one of the priorities that she and president elect joe biden will try and tackle while in office. You may have heard me say one in 6 families in america is describing their children is being 101 5 are describing and an ability to pay rent. These are real issues and the folks that were talking about whoever they voted. Youre to have leadership that them through the land of the life theyre living regards to the Party Affiliation and we feel very strongly about harris was accompanied by her husband, doug emhoff them off says the food and security will be also a focus of his. So his service i should say as the second gentleman, so well see what kind of programs will kind of initiatives they can move forward, well take a break 7. 41. Well be right back on this thanksgiving dinner. And were back coming up on 7. 45 the bay area air Quality Management district is asking people not to do you see in the picture there to the right of your screen dont burn wood this thanksgiving. They want you to help keep pollution from getting up to unhealthy levels theres no spare the air alert in effect but you know theyre cautioning that woodburning fireplaces or wood stoves can significantly effect pollution in specific neighborhoods and also affect Indoor Air Quality as well, the agency as it would smoke is the major source of air pollution. In the region during the winter and it can be especially harmful to children and the elderly his respiratory conditions. On the fragile side with everybody Wearing Masks now you just dont want to at any more strain on the respiratory system of those who are most vulnerable. 7. 45 now on the clock, lets get over to the Weather Center and say good morning to josh are able and get our thanksgiving day forecast morning john good morning. James yeah, thanksgiving, cooperating weather wise for the most part of the ways. Theres going to be a steady breeze out there today, but the signs that really beautiful conditions sure has been a beautiful sunrise this morning, this is your sausalito view looking down at San Francisco little bit of an orange glow above the vegas getting in those holiday the holiday spirit with those orange colors that are typically associated with thanksgiving, looking our way into the afternoon skies. Stay nice and clear today and were going to stay clear at the part of the reason for that is a compliment of these offshore winds that are pushing across the state not just the bay area in fact those winds been pretty problematic for the southern end of the state right around l a where there was some wind advisories in effect yesterday for us in the bay area they are certainly present and going to be noticeable well into the afternoon, gusting as high at times as 20 Miles Per Hour for the north bay, the inland east bay and even on the peninsula. There will be sheltered areas, especially at lower elevations, right along the bay, but do expect a possibility of a breeze well through the afternoon as you do plan that feast outside maybe to enjoy that sunshine in the 60s. Id say still get out there and enjoy it just anticipate the potential of that wind daly city at 65 today really warm at the coast know 50s out there. Well millbrae at 64 brisbane at 64 as well. Those strong winds blowing from the inland areas to bayside areas will be keeping temperatures a bit warmer today than what we had been seeing the past few days so it is certainly a mild thanksgiving with lots of sunshine up about dublin youll be at 63 today oakland at 66 walnut creek, a nice comfortable and cool 65. Well the way on monday should 2 of our warmest of spots at 6768 degrees. Heres a look ahead at your next 7 days. Tomorrow saturday and sunday wont be quite as warm as today but will still be pretty nice wind should calm down for the rest of the week after today, 30s for your inland evening, lows and 40s for your bayside in coastal lows. Conditions remaining dry and sunny all the way through the middle of next week with no chances of rainfall in sight just yet. All right thank you very much john 7. 47 oclock and take a look at this. No social distancing here. The passenger captured this video on an American Airlines flight from atlanta to charlotte this past tuesday. And this is what the cdc was warning against traveling during the Holiday Season. But as brian entin reports, millions of americans have decided to do exactly that. This is something we havent seen in awhile lines at airports across the country as americans ignore cdc recommendations and board flights for the thanksgiving holiday think its kind of important to just keep a balance between the cautions and. Doing something too. Maintain a quality play the last 3 days have seen high numbers of air travelers at least for covid times sunday more than a million passengers moved through tsa checkpoints. Just under a million on monday and tuesday. But that pales in comparison to the same time last year when more than 2 million passengers flew each day leading up to thanksgiving. Highways are also busy according to triple a 50 million americans are hitting the road for thanksgiving. Thats down about 10 from last year we are going to visit my 8 yearold grandmother. Weve all kind of been staying in our own little home bubble. And weve got tons of. Sanitizer. Theyre all freshly cleaned Hand Sanitizer and masks have become so normal its easy to forget what visiting family for thanksgiving was like last this was Albany International airport around this time in 2019 family, smiling hugging and embracing each other for the holidays. We can only hope to be done with the new normal and go back to the regular normal by this time next year. Well that was brian and reporting for anyone traveling overseas this Holiday Season. The cdc is recommending travelers be tested. For coronavirus not just once but 3 times first one to 3 days before your flight the second 1 one to 3 days after the return and then the 3rd one about 5 days or so after staying home for 7 days so if you dont get tested stay home for 14 days after travel and that should cover you in case you do become symptomatic any time in that 2 week incubation period that the coronavirus is known to him, im impacted during. All right developing news. The cdc says it may shorten its recommendation for how long people should quarantine after possibly being exposed to currently as i just mentioned its 14 days. But that could be reduced to just 7 to 10 days. The period could be shortened if patients are tested for the virus during their quarantine. So thats the catch the decision to change the guidance is not final. Theyre still talking about it experts are still reviewing data to make sure these changes would put people at any extra risk. Check this out the 14 yearold man tyler gordon posted this time lapse of him painting Vice President elect Kamala Harris. The video went viral on social media and today. Kamala harris gave him a personal phone call. Kron 4 Sanaz Tahernia caught up with him moments. Afterwards. First of all i was shot because id calling right now so when my most fun ride she said highs leaders well. This is like to what did she say i mean obviously she she caught wind of piece of art that you have sitting right behind you thats actually what you painted right the one that we see behind you right there. Yes so she obviously caught wind of this what did she say what it and i mean what is what is the senators say to a 14 yearold boys, its got to be flattering for super exciting for you and also exciting for us to hear about it as well. Were still watching painting. And she also talked about her thanksgiving for family and already were talking at church time for actually went off so just to go check on that but i was just really shocked and i was full. Really grateful. Well tyler says that hes proud of the Vice President and the fact shes from the bay area and she said he says that. Thats inspired him because. Shes broken so many barriers as a woman in politics and a person of color and tyler says that Kamala Harris inspired him to break through his own barriers, including growing up with a stutter. Living with deafness since he was 6 and spending a few years in a wheelchair as well. Truly a heartwarming story and what an incredible talent. He has i never in a million years could ever paint that well. Good job at it. Well take a break here at 7. 52, well be right back. Welcome back. It is 7. 55 on this thanksgiving morning skies are beautiful and clear were looking at sunshine out there all across the bay area and that is something that we can expect even out to our coastal spots look at this. This is your view from sausalito at San Francisco is absolutely gorgeous sun coming up more and more and we are off to a clear start. Now the big catch today is going to be some at times strong winds, especially for the north bay so be mindful of this as you plan out, maybe your thanksgiving feast outside today, and i dont know why you wouldnt because look at the weather weve got for the coast. It will be a significantly warmer afternoon than what youve gotten used to these winds are an offshore wind so theyre pulling in some dry and warmer air from the interior out towards the coast. So no fog at the coast today and youve got some solid 60s for your highs as for inland areas of course were staying in the 60s much as we have for over the course of this week now sunny skies and just a slightly warmer afternoon than where we were yesterday as highs move on up into the mid to upper 60s. James all right john thank you very much coming up in the next hour volunteers with the Salvation Army are delivering thanksgiving meals to those in need today. Well tell you how this years event is different from the past we have that in a live report and with the recent surge in covid cases its more important now than ever to make sure your thanksgiving gathering is safe. Well have some tips for you. Two medical societies have strongly recommended to doctors to treat acute, nonlow back muscle and joint pain with topical nsaids first. A formulation they recommend can be found in salonpas. A formulation they recommend can be found in salonpas. Salonpas. Its good medicine. Hisamitsu. News station youre watching the car. Good morning everybody, thank you for joining us on this. A thanksgiving, happy thanksgiving. Im glad youre joining it here with kron where obviously happy to have you here. So far the day is moving along nicely weather wise. Its a little windy out but who knows what the rest of the day has in store. I know somebody who john tripp was in the Weather Center good morning. John good morning james good to be here with you today as well as the rest of you out there. We are looking at some pretty good weather for stepping outside this thanksgiving holiday something weve been keeping our fingers crossed for for the course of this month so far of course its not perfect theres an obvious wind out there this morning that you want to plan for as maybe you plan that feast outside later on you look outside from stitcher tower here shows you the beautiful Crystal Clear skies that we do have skies so clear partly because of these winds are mostly from the northeast and thats pushing any sort of fog marine layer. Well offshore so daytime highs for coastal spots today bump it up a few degrees going to be well into the 60s for areas like Half Moon Bay, which is you can see does have a solid 60 mile per hour wind right now napa sonoma calistoga as well as petaluma and santa rosa have also been quite breezy to start this morning, lets advanced towards one 30 pm a good time to be outside maybe for enjoying a postthanksgiving run around the ac
