Setting us up. For Beautiful Days to be standing in line at the polls certainly better than the rest of the country where people have their heavy jackets on and are dealing with some cold conditions, well save that for the weekend back here in the bay as conditions looking across the bay. Theres definitely some sunshine making its way through the low stratus that is pushing in across the region visibility just fine as youre getting out there and temperatures although a little cool this morning in the 40s and 50s will be rising into the 70s this afternoon more comfortable than yesterdays 80s were and a whole lot more comfortable than the 50s 60s will be this weekend talking about that in your full forecast to come. Robert all right, thank you john checking back in on the purchase the traffic thats rolling across the bay we have the bay bridge approach, 80 west its not getting any better. Still nothing reported, but its very heavy on the stand your backup here behind the toll still stocked up from the bottom of so yes youre going to have to sit in a lot of crowding into San Francisco, your drive time still under 15 minutes, but its just been going up and down throughout the morning drive, so just be prepared for this with no major trouble spots for now in the mix highway for very busy through pittsburg bay point in concord 6 ad is like the amendments recovering from minor issues still under 30 minutes from to 38 to 2 37 1, 1, looking good from san jose to menlo park back to you thanks robin. The voting has begun in california polls just opened 2 minutes ago. Yeah weve got kron fours will tran standing by live for us out in Contra Costa County where will i guess we can throw down the flag let the voting begin here in california. Actually they were so excited jeans and area full disclosure, they actually started letting people only show this live shot for you at the top of the newscast. They actually let people in. At 6. 54 so 6 minutes before the official start this hour, excited people are we saw a line outside were inside a church right now this is on escobar street in downtown martinez and as you can clearly see we have a handful of voters ready to go that front desk is for those who need to register for today you can only do it in person now no more online but people. They want to come down here and cast their ballot like paul you are outside. Youre why couldnt you just do it with drop. You know the mail system what did you have to come here in person well, you know, im kind of from the non popular side. I voted in person since i was 18 and its just the way we roll and so happy to come in and exercise my civic duty and person well. And was there any proposition any race that kind of made you really think about in sweat who you should vote for what you should vote for. Most of the most you know the president ial election was really what i was here for on the on the measures a lot of the stuff. Is kind of deceptive and i have a tendency to vote no more than yes for most of them primarily due to the fact that at the end of the day you get 5 years later and their taxes that ok well thank you so much for stopping by. A lot of people are stopping by thank you for talking to us and by the way he steamed area thats why he said he would talk to us because hes a big fan of your so anything for a live interview come down here, theyre ready to roll and dont worry about the system they said they tested about 16,000 ballots. To make completely sure that everything is ok not even 99. 9 accurate. They say its 100 there it is a countdown precincts are open up loud and neighborhood near you thats great, i got one right in both then for sunshine. All the time, thank you well, thank you well. This is the whole town tallying the town fight when he said 5 votes. Yeah, yeah, every Election YearDixville Notch. In New Hampshire such a small town and theyre the first ones to not only cast their ballots but also to report the results as well because when you can use your fingers and youre all set out on one hand and there you go a sweep for joe biden he takes the first town there to report today in Dixville Notch you won their first 5 votes and the other small town there in New Hampshire millsfield and just back of this teleprompter and i can give you the numbers just back up go backwards on the script, not 4 but backward and ill tell you. That trump when i dont have the numbers there weve already gone past all right, joe biden in his home state of delaware this morning as he awaits the results of the election were going to be tracking both President Trump and Vice President biden an award a key is in wilmington right now and hows it going there. Anna. Good morning both biden and harris have hit the campaign trail today for a few last minute rallies before the polls closed leader tonight biden is heading to scranton and philadelphia. Harris is heading to detroit now these 2 states pennsylvania and michigan. President trump won in 2016 and the Biden Campaign is really looking to flip those states to blue this year so today their focus and their these last few hours or on those 2 states before they head back here to wilmington later tonight. So what are we expecting here for them in the very final hours as they push towards the finish theyre both. Hunker down right well, i guess the Biden Campaign has a few surrogates out there still today. Its their final push for you know biden is expected to address the nation here in wilmington later tonight, but we need to have a clear winner when that happens you know were still waiting to so many ballots and need to be pennsylvania for example that comes down to states like that they can start counting their mailin ballots until today so were just looking at a much longer much more drawnout process than weve seen in years past yeah pennsylvanias going to be good example of that we may not know the results in pennsylvania till. Maybe friday so who knows if it all hangs on pennsylvania. Were going to have to be patient to see who comes out ahead. Absolutely words have to wait and see. What happens you see as the results come in later all right, thanks a lot time now is 7, 7, and well well have to wait and see San Francisco already seeing historic turnout. This election. So far a record 322,000 ballots. Have been filled out now being processed in San FranciscoDepartment Elections that 62 of registered voters already with more ballots being dropped off yesterday and those voting in person today on election day we have Election Officials now expecting a turnout that could potentially be above 80 . Unclear if that will actually break a record but it will be close. Theres ever been a point where weve had. As many votes cast before election day 1956 in 1960 those are the highest election turnouts that i can find those are 86 so really you know were looking at ideally something between the 8186 and hopefully something beyond 86. The 300,000 ballots received prior to monday morning will be the first to be tabulated with the early results coming in by 08 45pm tonight and while the number will be significant Election Officials say it will not be final because there will be so many more balanced yeah, and in the south bay Santa Clara County now reporting almost 2 thirds of its registered voters. Have already cast their ballots either by mail or in person ahead of today. The early voting means that people doing all of the processing in the counting of those ballots have had a bit of a head start thankfully that should help the registrar make available some significant results by the time the polls close at about 8 oclock tonight. Where now they say theyre aware of what voting means to people hopefully now. Was always an honor when i was started out in 18 years old now. They got away from that now people start to realize how important voting is well theres a very large amount of divisiveness and we want to make sure that our voices are heard. And its not clear its a very close election right and its very divided so its really important and we get out and vote. After those voting at the last minute you have to be in line no later than 08 00pm and his will warren you earlier make sure you bring your mask. Keep it tuned across for we will have complete Election Results coverage starting at 3 oclock this afternoon dont forget 04 00pm the east coast polls begin to close so well have live reports on the results as they come in also locally to the various propositions on the ballot, well keep you updated on what the counts are with the live analysis from our political experts as well so stay with kron 4 weve got you covered all day long. Well today starting off with a bit of cloud cover as you can see from your camera looking across the bay 40s 50s for your morning temperatures but by the afternoon ahead of us weve got highs in the 70s and abundant sunshine as you take to the polls. More details in your forecast ahead. Im tracking your commute around the bay area this morning, especially on the bridges and some of them really packs like 80 wesson to San Francisco backed up to the bottom of the maze so make sure you get out there early and ill check more bridges and drive times for you coming up after the break. As a nurse, ive faced the fear of being stretched too thin to do my job right. And its not Just Health Care workers. Our teachers and school staff are going the extra mile for our kids. Prop 15 closes corporate loopholes and invests in our schools, health care, and public safety. Help us do our jobs. Vote yes on 15. Welcome back it is 7. 28 right now a half hour into voting in california. Weve already seen folks waking up early go into the pole thats right lines forming a course earlier this morning. From other time zones we saw long lines forming in places like virginia weve seen video out of pennsylvania as well where you need a jacket yeah pretty heavily because its a frigid out there but not the case here now pretty nice john yeah, definitely nice guys in the east coast getting the big chill. Well here on the west coast and especially in the bay area were in the midst of some pretty nice stuff we were toasty this weekend. Were going to be cool this upcoming weekend. But where that sweet spot right in between Perfect Timing for election day as you do venture out to the polls and possibly wait line look at this beautiful view at Half Moon Bay this morning while some of the bay areas under gray skies. Not so much right along the coastline there afternoon bay. So if you are one of those spots that are right under the sunshine and you are already at the polls. Good for you theres pockets of sunshine pockets of cloud cover those cloudy pockets theyre not going to last for long though, and all of us getting a good dose of sunshine later on today. 40s and 50s for your current temperatures with concord at 49 right now oakland, one of our warm spots at 56. Well the way help petaluma and San Francisco are each in the low 50s novato in saint helena you were cool spots right now at 41 degrees. But later on today pretty much all of us have 70s to look forward to that will be a nice way to take to the polls later on as far as traffic goes there might be some spots backups near polling locations. I assume kind of like youre looking at at the bay bridge right now yeah, but if they watch crime then we warned them we tell them where its located they still dont have an excuse john its not too bad out there i dont im not tracking any major hot spots we have john is right. We have some slight us traffic out there. But this is on bay area bridges like 80 wesson to San Francisco. Heres your line its been on here for over an hour now quite busy from the 80 overcrossing from the bottom of the maze and then little stretches across the upper deck continuing over to the fremont street exit, but 13 minutes, thats still not bad thats a great average into San Francisco. Were checking in on some drive times we had a couple minor incidents on the east shore freeway so 21 minutes for 80 west from crockett down to oakland, no problems for 6. 80 dublin to fremont the guadalupe parkway looks good too through san jose northbound for 85 of to one on one so little bit of sluggish traffic but nothing thats too bad are all full well check more drive times coming up james started thanks a lot robin s. People head to the polls this morning this years election comes with. Yes, the concern that there might be some violence and the president actually brought it up saying there could be physical violence just yesterday and businesses around the bay have boarded up their windows just in case kron 4 Sarah Stinson is live in walnut creek where you have already seen bora boarded up businesses to sarah. Yeah ive seen businesses already boarded up and then happening right now are several businesses being boarded up here on main street, this is a jewelry store. Then theres a Clothing Store down the way and several businesses getting ready and preparing for any civil unrest that could occur and the next coming days as we get the results of the election take a look at this video right down the tree and looking at actually Broadway Plaza they have already a lot of stores boarded up and now crews have put up a barricade on the vehicle entrance is to the shopping area. They want to make sure that people cant drive into the shopping area. Easily pull up and then break into the windows and steal things those that because we saw looting here in walnut creek. A couple months ago during the protests that theyre trying to avoid that from happening again a lot of people here in walnut creek telling me that this is sad to see and it is but its basically its deter its a way to prepare for the worstcase scenario now take a look from sat, San Francisco businesses are boarded up there as well since theres fear the Election Results could also bring protests and violence there and really across the bay area and country. You can see their businesses preparing again we talked with the San Francisco chamber of commerce j change about why are taking these precautions. Motions are running high. Its been a difficult year. Its been a difficult election season. And were afraid that things go the wrong way or people are unhappy with the results that they may take it out on businesses and windows each window smashed windows is usually thousands of dollars and if you havent been paying rent for the last 9 months or you have been getting income for the last 9 months a couple 1000 is what well send you over the class. And thats why businesses are preparing because as he said theyve already been struggling, they dont need to deal with any more hardships. Now police here in walnut creek there also on high alert. Ive seen them out and about today we saw them earlier responding to something that ended up being a false alarm but they are ready to go. In case civil unrest ensues or any violence or theft. But out here on main street in walnut creek businesses preparing for the aftermath and again police on high alert as well reporting on the creek Sarah Stinson back to you wow just carrying big boards right behind you thanks a lot sir we have seen this. Really from coast to coast. Yes. And also to at the State Capitol here, heres some video from sacramento for up. Preparations under way for possible postElection Results protest you can see the barriers have been put up. Caution tape been put up extra police on hand they also set up portable security lights to you can see them raising them in a position here. This is on the eastern side of the building and the chp to also denied any permits right now for demonstrations around the building this week they just want to make sure everybody takes a breather. As these results are tallied tabulated and they just want make sure things are as calm as possible. Yeah, its not just the businesses but also local state and National Government in washington new fences up around the white house. They are wanting to head off any possible unrest with this new fence thats located near Lafayette Square which is a popular place where there have been protests before Dc Police Say that a handful of groups applied for demonstration permits for today and for the following day. So they know that people will be out there and they are hoping to keep them away from the white house. Last week the mayor of washington dc issued parking restrictions and also road closures around the white house to try to keep at any unrest and down that weve been following the movements of president who is. Inside the white house today thats where hell spend the final hours as he like the rest of us will be waiting for the results to come in so itll be fascinating to follow him and of course his challenger Vice President joe biden and word is he will be alone either there might be some type of gathering with a number of were waiting to hear more details about that. Lets go right now live to washington d c and get the latest from Raquel Martin good morning rock health. Good morning and we are hearing similar reports here in washington that the white house could be having a gathering of up to 400 people in the east room. Inside of the white house, the white house has not come out and confirm that report just yet but that is the rumor that has gone around at this but for right now it seems that he will be forced or just watching it in spite of the white house. And there is actually nothing else on the president s schedule today except for the fact that hes heading down to the Republican National office in virginia in just a few its actually a low key day for the president were waiting to see if anything changes on his and right now were hearing from his press secretary just a few moments ago saying that she believes the president will in fact win this election in a landslide. Well one of those states thats key to that is of course the state of pennsylvania, big battleground he did intimate during one of his recent Campaign Rallies and on twitter as well that if pennsylvania does not go his way. Well then that could portend possible violence. Yeah course had a lot of people worried twitter actually took that down right. Thats right twitter actually put a little warning on that tweet saying that it included misleading information and this all revolves Supreme Court decision in the state of pennsylvania that allows one county to have their ballots counted at least 3 days after election day has of course if they are postmarked of course on but the president is razor focus on this issue even though weve seen other states implement similar rules surrounding the but the president is concerned apparently about cheating in this particular case. In this threatening a legal challenge if he believes that something dishonest as the polls has occurred behind the scenes now of course pennsylvania ag we have mention is a key battleground state so this is why the president is all razor focus there and him and joe biden have been neck and neck in the polls theyre both of them have been hitting this state heavy in the last few days i believe former Vice President joe biden is in there is impotent pennsylvania right now so you can just see how important this is for each of the candidates as they both try and get to that magic number which is 270 Electoral College votes that will be what they need to be declared the by the end of this election cycle. All right, thanks. A lot raquel. Its fascinating to see how it all shakes out today and we continue to track polling places across the country to in new video into the newsroom shows what its like in tennessee today as that state is expected to be a strong state for President Trump will continue to monitor polling places all across the country as most Election Officials expect record turning. Record turnout today on this election day already the numbers for the early vote have been staggering stay tuned to kron 4 for complete election Coverage Today and. Results as well as they start to come in today at 3 oclock. We will be on air will have the latest results live reports on all the important propositions that you voted on and analysis with political experts about what is happening in real time. No interruptions as you head to the polls as far as weather goes were going to be looking at sunshine this afternoon, a couple spots of fog this morning but some light hearted making its way through a lot of those areas. 60s and San Francisco while 70s in oakland and san jose cooler this weekend though well get to that your forecast. Im tracking your commute around the bay area this morning. The only interruption you have heading into San Francisco is other commuters there in your way its slow its crowded, but its the norm here at the toll plaza with stop and go traffic back from the bottom of the maze so get out there early well check more bridges coming up. We love our new home. Theres so much space. We have a guestroom now. But, we have aunts. Youre slouching again, ted. Expired, expired. Expired. Thanks, aunt bonnie. Its a lot of house. I hope you can keep it clean. At least geico makes bundling our home and Car Insurance easy. Which helps us save a lot of money oh, teddy. Did you get my friend request . Uh, ill have to check. doorbell ringing aunt jonis here for bundling made easy, go to geico. Com. Hello . Welcome back 7. 42 on this election day conditions out there today weather wise looking great. I mean look at this timber on view right here. We definitely of spots of fog which you can make out the distance from our timber on cam but a lot of us are already under the sunshine and more and more of that expected into the afternoon so we had a toasty weekend last weekend we little dip in the jet stream piercing through the High Pressure ridge that was built up bringing us the warmer conditions. And ahead of cooler conditions this weekend were right in that sweet spot right in the middle temperatures today will be in the 60s and 70s and lots of sunshine. Then this happens this weekend friday saturday and sunday, a couple of sprinkles possible on friday saturday. We just remain cool with snow up in the Sierra Nevada and then sunday, another round of what could be a couple of sprinkles, definitely no major rain events in this forecast but a big switch up and whether thats going to bring a lot more of those fall feels are direction after such hot weather lately today as i mentioned the sweet spot in between as high temperatures rise into the 70s it will actually be a Beautiful Day to get out there and cast your ballot. Tomorrow and thursday will continue this nice trend of comfortably cool weather before the weekend cool down that will take us into the 50s and 60s starting friday lasting through next week. Robin. All right, thank you john were heading back to the bridge is checking in on your commute across the bay still very busy out there check out the Richmond Center fell you see the traffic coming to a crawl just west of the toll plaza we do have a new accident working so it is quite slow here getting onto the span but right around mid span. Its going to start to clear up for you so 17 minutes and growing to make it into the north bay here at the bay bridge 80 west another long line traffic crawling back from the bottom of the maze nothing reported on the span so crowded into San Francisco. Yes, were up to 16 minutes off to fremont street just get out there early new accident for the e sure 80 west at carlson, so its bumping up are stacking up here out of richmond heading into el serino and down to berkeley as well so keep that in mind if youre taking the insure 23 minutes and growing from crockett down to the maze will check more drive times after the break. As a nurse, ive faced the fear of being stretched too thin to do my job right. And its not Just Health Care workers. Our teachers and school staff are going the extra mile for our kids. Our firefighters are taking on unthinkable missions to keep us safe. How can we keep giving billions in tax breaks to rich corporations when our communities need that money . Prop 15 closes corporate loopholes and invests in our schools, health care, and public safety. Help us do our jobs. Vote yes on 15. She is the time were watching the polls as they are happening around the country right now look at what behind us. So its almost 11 00am in washington d c. And theres a way to president expected to be in the white house for the duration of the day as he waits the ballot returns to be tabulated and reported to america and helping understand whats happening today the day weve been waiting for for a while now we have political analyst michael yaki michael good morning. The day is finally here. Michael what you know does anything strike for this morning that youre seeing so far as bizarre. Well i just think that. You know for probably half the country, its been a very bizarre for years so its its thing was bizarre is there still people out there in california who are not registered to vote. And you can and still today register and vote thats one of the great privileges of democracy, whats part of the grand experiment. We engage in over 250 years ago you can go to wherever your polling place would be go to your county go to the county clerk. Their number ways that you can still register and actually vote. Today i would encour ge anyone who hasnt done it to do so because its part of what makes this country great. But i guess im one of them by the czars like what out of the ordinary because we keep telling people listen. The results not coming in like us maybe not knowing whats decided tonight is not unusual is it though unusual to see you know days before the election, major cities boarding of all their windows and the white house erecting giant walls that are on scalable around the white house is the is any of that unusual. Yeah, i mean there is a certain amount of dread and and trepidation surrounding this election. I think there are concerns about how whether it will be conducted fairly whether the count will be allowed to continue. There are concerns about what about just really is it going to be hacked i serve in the u. S. Election says the commission and this is something we continue to worry about every day is could someone hacked the results could someone put out this information changes the numbers even though the numbers may not really be changed. These are the things that are that are much more at stake in this election than any other election. So theres just really one word i can give to everyone and thats patients. Patients yes, let me ask you the final polls are in the forecast or lockdown we saw record levels of advance voting on the part of americans and. You know traditional wisdom is that that would benefit joe biden are democrats in general, but then day of voting would benefit republicans. The president has been barnstorming hes been trying to get out the vote for the past week now. In the final analysis do you think there will be enough republican votes today to really make this compelling across a number of states. Well i mean heres were going to see were going to see like in pennsylvania. Were only 40 of the people voted by mail that 60 that comes in 2 days probably going to be breaking. It could be as high as 2 thirds for the president and went there for a bike and that flips of course when you have the enormous amount of democrats who voted voted by mail so what people are going to be looking at is. What is the percentage on election day and then still what percentage of ballots still remain to be counted. And thats really what the pollsters and all that people with their algorithms are going to be looking at are going look at over the next hours but i said last week theyre going to be some indicators tonight that we can look at to determine if theres going to be a trend and its and if its going to be a long night its going to be because trump sweeps the sun belt and keeps florida keeps South Carolina is keeps georgia keeps North Carolina. Keeps it keeps arizona. If it is going to because then binds only pathway is a sweep. The blue wall, wisconsin, michigan and pennsylvania. If its going to be a quick night for joe biden if he wins any one of these states florida texas North Carolina, georgia. Those are going to be in and we should know texas and florida and georgia pretty early that will be a key is to whether or not this will short and sweet victory night for joe biden so thats what we have to look for but i think you know. Polls are one thing getting people the polls or another and no one knows whether or not. All those people who already voted its going to be a is there going to be record turnout or they can be more people showing up at the polls today to break the record a goal to around 160 million which is what some people are projecting. No one knows theres weather in some parts of the country. We just dont know and thats the beauty and the terror of american democracy. Weve been following the polls if you had to pick one of those sunbelt that you put your money on that perhaps joe biden could eke out a win in which one you think it would be. Well i mean if for for biden if he wants to win tonight. Its going to be either george or North Carolina possibly texas, im not too sure about florida. Floridas just very is our state and its always too close to call them back and go on for a couple days and for trump. Its going to be does he win arizona. And does he does he keep busy keep florida and georgia. Ok you. Well, i i do want to let you know the results are already in Dixville NotchNew Hampshire because you can count them on your and the 5 votes for biden thats already put to bed. At dixville Dixville Notch a later yeah here we only that count the rest of the country we didnt bikel thank you so much for joining us this morning.
