Is no existence, a marine layer anywhere across the bay, it is Crystal Clear as offshore winds begin to kick up pushing any chance of fog are moist air. Well offshore red flag warnings as i mentioned are already in effect for upper elevations of the Santa Cruz Mountains all of the inland east bay and almost all of the north bay until you had a right to the immediate coastline. Now these will be in effect from friday this or wednesday this morning through friday morning at 11 00am winds gusting as high as 45 Miles Per Hour which is the additional factor here on top of the already dry and warm weather weve seen this week that is sparking up this potential of a fastspreading wildfire. Now winds are already breezy this morning but by no means at our wind is just yet. Winds about 10 Miles Per Hour for much of the north bay at this point well continue to pick up into the afternoon by 03 30pm Vacaville Atlas peak looking at winds gusting from 20 to 30 Miles Per Hour peak, wind gusts and early tomorrow morning in excess of 30 Miles Per Hour for areas like vacaville was speaking calistoga at times these deeper red areas on the map are indicating those areas with the highest winds at times that will spread into the east bay as well as the south bay into thursday morning we will be continuing to see those strong winds across the north bay, especially but also elsewhere across the bay area. Lasting all the way through friday morning before eventually seeing coming conditions and early from the highest a fire danger after that point. Now as for right now temperatures certainly not our hottest just yet it is a mild start to this morning, Crystal Clear good air quality right now so as the sun does come up get those chores get that jog in before afternoon highs really start to climb eventually taking us into the mid to upper 90s for some of our inland areas and upper 80s for many of our bayside cities back to you. All right, thank you john. Well now back to our top story that were following for you this morning of course the high winds and dry hot weather will likely mean power shut off tonight all across the bay area. Yeah for folks in napa county they could be hit hard tonight. Weve got kron 4 Sarah Stinson live in calistoga with more on this story, sarah. James im live here in downtown calistoga or you can see the business is all lit up that could not be the case tonight by 6 oclock. Here in the north bay we have heard from pg e and theyre saying that. 33,000 homes and businesses could be without power as soon as 6 oclock tonight and that is in the Sierra Nevada foothills and here in the north bay, then about 2 hours later and other portions of the sierras in the bay in the bay area an additional 21,000 customers could also lose their power. Youre looking at a map you know kelso live now a city hit hard by the glass fire. People appear in the north bay face more fire danger due to dry hot and windy weather conditions. Its already breezy here. Tonight, wind gusts will be ramping up possibly hitting as high as 55 Miles Per Hour tonight that combined with bone dry humidity causes for major concern thats why a red flag warning has also been issued pg e says shutting off the power is a precaution to decrease the chances of a wildfire from sparking up, but its a last resort so thats why they dont announce it days in advance because they dont want to shut off the power, but they do it if it truly is the last resort, the highest probability areas north bay mountains near mount saint helene a small pockets in the east bay near mount diablo the Oakland Hills east of piedmont portions of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Now remember you can do a lot to should have already been preparing for this because weve been warning you about the power shut off since monday and now wednesday the day where we know it could be happening tonight you can prepare by getting those nonperishable makes you have enough water get those batteries out extra batteries flashlights got a portable phone charger that way you can keep your phone charged up thats important that we can get alerts not only from us but also from pg knee cal fire practice using your generators, you have one those are helpful during a power outage that we can stay up and running at least for the essentials if you practice using it that way you know it all works and youre ready to go for that power outage which again could happen as soon as 6 oclock tonight. For now reporting live in calistoga Sarah Stinson kron 4 news okay. Thank you sarah. Well to the is going to be another part of the bay area that firefighters will be concerned about. Pg will be making a final decision this morning on which areas could have their power shut off lets check in on kron 4 Taylor Bisacky reports from oakland. Pg and e customers living in the east bay hills are bracing for a possible Public Safety power shutoff on wednesday. But are you concerned the head of the possible power cant turn on the fan to call myself off. When its really hot miserable being in the house 9095 degree weather. You know i just cant call law it hot dry and windy conditions expected to make their way through the bay area. A red flag warning was also issued for elevated areas in the east bay like the Oakland Hills. I need to walk ins lives first thought is im keeping my fingers and toes crossed that it doesnt happen. And second if it you know the way this year his gun is kind of got the boy just one more thing i hope it doesnt it will be kind of a nuisance if it does pg says. Neighbors here can expect a possible power shut offs to start at 08 00pm on wednesday and last through friday morning forecasted yesterday insisted they did stories 65 Miles Per Hour weeks and these high winds to subside thursday or potentially friday morning even before these weather events. Neighbors in the oakland and Berkeley Hills were concerned about wildfire dangers so much that the citys closed scenic turnouts like grizzly peak to discourage people from hanging out there and setting off illegal fireworks if the genie does in fact have these power shut offs they expect to restore power by 10 00pm friday night in oakland Taylor Bisacky kron 4 news. Well, its continue that Team Coverage of course a red flag in the east bay has caused several east bay, Regional Parks the shutdown and theyre expected to stay closed through at least friday weve got crawfords reyna harvey on the story for us live at Kennedy Grove regional Recreation Area in el sobrante ran a good morning. Good morning. You know its unfortunate for a lot of families these Regional Parks have been the go to place for the past couple of months not much else to do, but its just too hyten of arrests like this sign posted a behind the extreme fire danger so theyre closing number Regional Parks down take a look at your screen right now if you are going to any of these parks over the next few days they will not be open. Anthony Chabot Regional ParkClaremont Canyon Regional Preserve huckleberry regional preserve leona canyon open space regional preserve lionheart redwood, Regional Park roberts Regional Park, simply regional preserve tilden Regional Park. Kennedy girl regional recreation and Wildcat CanyonRegional Park. Now we know that that red flag warning is in place over the next few days hoping that into the weekend we may see some change so we might see opening back up then but as of right now there are no plans to do that we also know that the east bay regional District Park fire reserve theyre going to be putting firefighters in place and many of these locations just in case because theyre trying to stay prepared. For now reporting here in the east bank harvey kron 4 news, you know we definitely have to say prepare to be cautious. Thank you reena. And today will be a warmer one than yesterday was but i think the biggest difference were going to notice is those winds that will be picking up through the day today, im when was the last time your property tax bill went down . What . Never. Are you kidding me . For years, the residential burden has gone up. While the corporate burden has gone down. Prop 15 reverses that. It closes corporate loopholes and invests in schools, small business, and firefighters. And when the big corporations pay more, your tax bill goes down. Thats right. A savings of a hundred twentyone dollars a year for the average home. Give homeowners a break. Vote yes on 15. Welcome back everyone and thanks for staying with us the time now 6. 12 yes, lets get over to the Weather Center johns keeping us updated on the hot weather. The fire weather that we have on tap for today and beyond guys i dont want to talk about it anymore and here we go again we are seeing another one of those days that its going to be offering up the high fire potential for the bay area and by this point we all know the factors that lineup for that of course the winds the heat and then the dry humidity that comes along with both of those factors. No fog no cloud cover dry beautiful skies over the bay right now theres one plus of it you have smooth sailing into work and guess what air quality is still sitting pretty good so were starting a forecast thats not necessarily full of high notes on a pretty nice note right now. Now later on today as the sun comes up temperatures will rise pretty fit quickly and by the time we work into the afternoon along with dry offshore winds youll notice, a difference compared to where weve been earlier this week. Winds right now are not the wind is just yet but starting to pick up for portions of the north bay by the time we work into early thursday morning winds gusting regularly into the 20 to 30 mile per hour range across sonoma and napa counties as well Solano County those deeper red areas right there indicating those areas that are going to be seeing the strongest of winds that includes at times the peninsula and the east bay by friday morning. Were still in the midst of some of these strong winds and that means red flag warnings are going nowhere until at least the end of this workweek as we make our way through the week red flag warnings will continue on for those upper elevations of the Santa Cruz Mountains, winds gusting here as high as 35 Miles Per Hour inland east barrier bay area inland east bay areas also experiencing winds gusting as high as 35 Miles Per Hour. North bay conditions, red flag warnings for all of solano and napa counties most of sonoma and marin counties until you get to the coast. Wind gusts here as high as 45 to even 50 Miles Per Hour. These all continue until 11 00am on friday after which point we back off the winds and gusts back off the highest a fire danger into the weekend. 80s for most of our San Francisco daytime highs today and even a few 80s right along the coast with Half Moon Bay 81. It will be 80s and 90s for besides citys income tomorrow, more and more of our besides cities will actually be in the 90s that is due to those hot offshore winds that are going to carry inland heat right along the bay, shore right now most 90s or pentup for inland areas with pleasanton one of hotter spots at 97. Danville walnut creek unconquered each at 95. Well, Oakland Berkeley and richmond each in the mid 80s 90s across the board in solano and napa counties with nap at 94. Fairfield and vacaville at 95 in 93. Cooler at the coast as youd expect. But 90s from santa rosa all the way down to mill valley. Tomorrow and friday our hottest days for bayshore areas tonight into tomorrow morning or windiest of times but winds after that remain steady all the way into friday morning, red flag warnings expire friday and even though the weekend does start off toasty we do see slightly cooler conditions and with much calmer winds some relief from the highest to fire danger. Robert all right, thank you for the update john now lets update your morning commute around the bay area starting off with our busiest bridge. Its 92, no surprise right. A crowded here leaving hayward west of the toll plaza more more brake lights every time we check it but youre overall drive time not bad at all its only 13 minutes heading over to the peninsula here in the bay bridge along lines squeezing into San Francisco its getting pretty tight here the pay gates, already stacked up beyond 8. 80 spilling out to west grand and then its going to be through the maze so get out there early your drive time is only 10 minutes because its moving well across the upper deck but as we can see the heavy traffic is behind the toll plaza where over to the east shore freeway because we have an accident that is still active. This is westbound 80 right at San Pablo Dam road, the left lane is blocked so a lot of brake lights there for the westbound drive its already crawling back from richmond parkway so youre going to be jammed on the upper east shore freeway but as soon as you pass the crash the the rest of your trip looks really good see how it opens up after the accident so mid to lower is sure well be fine youre looking at 24 minutes total from crockett to the maze ill keep my eyes on this well have more traffic updates coming up a little bit later james. Very much robin so 6. 16 is the time halloween and dia de los muertos could look a lot different this year in California State Health leaders released new guidelines for trick or treating. And other holiday gatherings and those officials point out that door to door trick or treating will. Well im a Contact Tracing really challenging if they do catch. Virus thats spreading. The state says the safest way to celebrate is to spend time with people in the same household celebrate virtually. The states latest set of recommendations comes as california course continues to see stability in these cases which has been great news positivity and hospitalization rates for covid19 are trending down which is the way we want to keep it. So lets not ruin him, even with those new guidelines, some parents are determined not to let the pandemic disrupt their halloween plans, proper says it but doing reports from martinez. Participating in traditional door to door trick or treating is considered a highrisk activity by the Contra Costa HealthServices Department that is due to covid19 but some parents like Danielle Miller of martinez refused to let the Pandemic Take the joy out of the halloween consent crn be to following the Health Guidelines. Shes creating what she believes is a safe way to distribute candy were large pvc pipe and were going to shoot the candy down were working were gluttons make sure that were not spending any germs. So when the kids come actually going to be standing 6 feet away from each other on the glow necklaces that will have on the ground and so theyll be able stand apart and wait for their turn to get there can be and then when its their turn in mind were going to shoot some candy down so they can put it in their their halloween. In fact she says she and her getting together and coming up with creative socially distance halloween experiences for trick treaters and distribute the theyre also creating a map of homes that are following Health Guidelines and taking precautions to keep children safe of like you know 15 to 20 different neighbors. And thats enough for you know the little kids celebrating halloween is a tradition in her family that goes back to when she was a little girl and she says keeping that tradition going for her daughters this year as an important sign of things getting back to normal honestly i was so tired of hearing my cell tell my 4 yearold im sorry we cant do that because of the virus and sorry you cant go to birthday parties. Im sorry we cant go to the fireworks. Im sorry cant go to a parade that they want to say it again. Zinc lead you kron 4 news. Well, dozens of people dressed in wedding attire march to the State Capitol tuesday demanding guidance from the Governors Office on weddings. Under the current a colorcoded reopening to your system the state has given 0 guidance for wedding events which means no commercial wedding receptions can actually happen. President of the California Association of private events or cape says that instead many couples are just throwing underground weddings where covid19 virus can easily spread. The right now you can have a ceremony only you cannot have a reception wants to do that. No one wants to have a wedding ceremony and then just go home so thats where were seeing an uptick in the bootleg event. Well the even industry says that with some guidance from the state some of the recklessness from the underground readings could be prevented by professionals actually enforcing requirements, those guidelines from the governor could also help the industry try to save its fiscal year. Welcome back time now 6. 28 good morning to you and thanks for staying with us all right, lets get over to the Weather Center weve got john trouble standing by with a quick check of the hot weather in the forecast the hot weather paired with those winds guys we know what that means we do have high fire danger ahead of us really for the rest of the week beyond this point at least its a beautiful start to the morning without the presence of fog or any marine layer for that matter. It is crisp cool and Crystal Clear outside San Francisco as well as the east bay way in the distance. Clearly in view from our sutro tower cam now red flag warnings took effect this morning at 05 00am and theyre going to last all the way through tomorrow into friday morning at 11 00am this is due to the pairing of winds low humidity and of course the warm temperatures which weve already been seeing only getting hotter from here on out upper elevations of the Santa Cruz Mountains all the inland east bay and all of the in north bay exception being right along the coastline affected by these red flag warnings this fire danger really increases weve seen such devastation so far this year please practice extreme caution and fire awareness as you do venture outside for the remainder of this week. Winds are already picking up thats why red flag warnings are in effect it is by no means are windiest time of day just yet though that will actually be into the evening tonight and tomorrow morning by 04 00pm today, a noticeable increase of winds in the north bay, the east bay and even the south bay and then into tomorrow morning, our strongest of winds vacaville by 02 15am looking at winds gusting regularly towards 40 Miles Per Hour out was peaking calistoga also right there with you the darker hues on this map indicating those areas that will be most susceptible to our strongest of winds by midday tomorrow still very windy in Vacaville Atlas peak fairfield down to danville in livermore too. Its why the inland east bay is also susceptible to this highest a fire danger. Friday morning still amid some of these stronger winds. But into friday afternoon winds starting to come down and that will offer us relief into the weekend from the highest a fire risk. Right now temperatures still comfortable in the 60s and even a few 70s on the map once the sun does come up get outside get the work you need to get done done before we do see warmer afternoon today than what we saw yesterday. Daytime highs will be in the 80s to 90s across the bay area with a high fire danger lasting over the course of the next few days. Robin james all right. Thank you john. And now to a big story that were following for you this morning alameda and santa clara counties are the latest to enter the orange tier of reopening, yeah and that means Indoor Dining is now allowed more people can shop indoors as well but Health Officials stress this doesnt mean of course that the threat of coronavirus is gone. Lets check in with kron fours will tran who is live this morning in san jose with an update for us well. Robin it is far from over but at least it isnt what we saw a couple of months ago when it was under at santana row. This is the embodiment of the new rules for Santa Clara County, good rules because they have restaurants they have shops museums at this location. Santa clara county i remember being one of the fastest hardest hit counties in california for covid19. Now its one of the best take a look at your screen were not at the minimal level yet they colorcoded this but the state says Santa Clara County has done such a good job that now as you mentioned its joining Alameda County for moderate risk for covid19 you can see the other counties still in purple meaning widespread, so they still have work to do. But Santa Clara County they have done a lot of heavy lifting over the past couple of months and that is why the state set a bar and in fact Santa Clara County met that bar and exceeded because their cases are actually even lower. Then what the state is willing to accept Positivity Rate is at 5 . And thats the state says thats ok in Santa Clara County. Theyre sitting at one 0. 7 so far below that you can go into restaurants, its not what it was prepandemic orange code means that you can have 50 capacity inside the restaurant. But Santa Clara County they want to make sure that they stay well below that. So its 25 capacity, but at least thats available to you inside outdoor theyre allowing more people to be outdoors now at 200 people and santana row we go back live now we will show you exactly whats going on look they set it up where people are dining outside as we speak once it opens up for lunch. Santa clara county Health Officials say you know what this is good. But we are far from over. Yeah we still have a lot of work to do have to stay cautious. Thank you will or were tracking the coronavirus numbers all across california and of course right here in the bay area. So far the state has recorded more than 862,000 cases with more than 16,000 deaths and then right here in the bay area there are now more than a 107,000 reported cases and more than 1600 deaths. With 20 days left until the election we are getting a look at what voting will look like this year in Santa Clara County. Election officials are adressing new voting procedures ballot box security and also pandemic safety protocols kron fours rob fladeboe reports. Santa clara county registrar of voters shannon on tuesday showing reporters what an official ballot drop box looks like. While reassuring the public Election Officials are on the lookout for those that dont belong here we are always on the lookout if people call in to alleged things. But we can always refer talk to the District Attorney to first thing you ask me what so look at all the different languages that we offer the ballot just dry then demonstrated touch screen voting made possible by 2018 voter choice act which allows people to choose when where and how they vote. Welcome back everyone, a red flag warning goes into effect this morning and will continue through 11 00am on friday. Its for the east bay valleys and hills plus the Santa Cruz Mountains kron fours dan kerman reports from santa rosa. Tuesday afternoon temperatures in santa rosa are already in the 90s but by wednesday, a red flag warning kicks in with even warmer temperatures wind gusts to 55 Miles Per Hour and bone dry grass and brush just ready to go up in flames. That is exactly why were of staffing again under these red flag warnings will have at least 12 if not more engine locally across the county. And were again urging our community be prepared for the potential to evacuate again evacuations have become routine for beth fill up. Who evacuated her skyhawk neighborhood home a little over 2 weeks ago due to the glass fire very close we left with the flames coming over the hill and. Very very well her neighborhood is scattered with burned out homes her survive those smoke damage is keeping them away for at least another month. Now she worries about whats to come this week. I first started thinking about ok what what do we need to do should we have belongings out of the if something were to happen and just how unpredictable. Wildfires are here now. Firefighters say areas that recently burned have fire lines in place which could be helpful in containing a new blaze if theres another spark, not so for areas like Fountain Grove that burned during 20 seventeens tubbs fire. Not only are new houses sprouting up in the neighborhood. But so is thick bushy brush. The tubbs fire. The guns fire the kincade fire. Those areas have now several seasons to reestablish and seasonal grasses and brush that every grown and so those areas do still present a threat to us typically october is the month we see terrible wildfires in this area. Weve already seen a couple now well just have to wait and see have another one comes in santa rosa dan kerman kron 4 news and james are all they have to be on alert the east bay, the north bay, the Santa Cruz Mountains, yeah, hot weather high winds all around fact johns been tracking all of that in the Weather Center. Lets continue our Team Coverage now with him good morning. Guys no fun to talk about those high winds, especially because thats a factor here. In addition to the heat which weve already had this week thats resulting in that heightened fire risk, especially. Its also keeping any sort of marine layer well off shore thats resulting in this Crystal Clear view youre seeing from berkeley all the way out to the coast. So certainly no fog this morning. Air quality on the positive now is good for most areas across the bay. So this highpressure ridge is building its replace the dip in the jet stream that resulted in cooler weather and even a couple of sprinkles this past weekend. That well in the past now as hot and dry inland winds push out into the bay were already seeing those starting to pick up for portions of the bay area but by no means the windiest of these next few days just yet that will actually be tonight into early tomorrow morning. This is tomorrow morning at 05 00am right here winds regularly gusting into a 2030 even 40 mile per hour range at times for areas like Solano Sonoma and napa counties and at times into the east bay and south bay too. So we will be seeing a consistently when the next few days all the way into friday in fact, windy conditions will remain friday midday and noticeable calming down occurs and after that into the weekend. A sigh of relief we can breathe has even though its still going to be warm fire danger really decreases as for today, red flag warnings already in effect they took effect at 05 00am they last through 11 00am on friday for areas like the Santa Cruz Mountains all across the inland east bay bay, shore areas, not affected. But will be hot its our inland areas that see that peak fire danger all us a and napa counties and most of sonoma and marin counties with winds gusting as high as 45 Miles Per Hour in these places you can see this is a vast portion of the bay right here a whole lot of us under that big fire impact so please be very mindful of that as you do venture outside as for todays daytime highs just a touch warmer than we have been that mean 70s and even 80s right along the coastline and 80s to 90s right along the bayshore redwood city and san carlos at 91 while sonny bill at 95 today, san jose youll be a 87 well 80s and 90s across the east bay pleasanton our hot spot today at 97 degrees. Oakland and richmond at 86 while conquered walnut creek in danville at 95 napa sonoma and yacht bill all in the mid 90s today and low 90s from santa rosa down to mill valley. Tomorrows temperatures for inland areas dont change too much, but with those breezes pushing out towards the bay or bayshore areas are actually going to see quite the jump in temperatures tomorrow. Taking us from mostly the 80s today to the 90s right along the bay come thursday and friday winds will remain with us through the evening tonight and into friday morning after which point we seem much calmer conditions and eventually quite the cool down next week much calmer and much more seasonable conditions to look for too. Robin are definitely looking forward to that cooldown thank you john. Lets check in on the traffic and we dont have any hot spots right now, but we have some long lines on bay area bridges starting off with a t heres a look at the traffic rolling into San Francisco. And its definitely busy this goes all the way back to west grand thats where it starts and continues through the tolls up the incline toward the tunnel but i dont see any problems in the under 15 minutes for your average drive time into San Francisco which is good. No major delays here yet at the richmond sandra fell, its picking up, but its going to be a smooth transition into the north bay at 8 minutes for you checking in on the south bay just getting word of a new crash northbound one what mickey you see that crowding right there in the middle of your screen so little sluggish but not bad 35 minutes and growing 4 north one oh one from san jose heading into menlo park we had a couple of accidents on the east shore freeway one on the upper east shore one down in berkeley. Both are out of your way, but we have pockets of crowding so now youre at 21 minutes, rolling west from crockett down to the maze of thats a part of your commute just get out there early because its still a little sluggish james all right.
