And were back at 5. 17 the big story that were following back here locally is the fact that weve got awful air quality the fires are still burning and the skies are still smoking, heres a look at the air quality map and it is worse than yesterday weve got a large sections of the bay area now in the red zone and orange zone which tells you that its going to be unhealthy to hazardous air quality out there from the north bay all the way down through the east and south bay too smoke from this wildfire season is responsible for multiple weeks now unhealthy air quality here in the bay area and it looks like that trend is continuing as we head into october, heres the thing is for some reason i my house without boiling. Thank god yesterday because it could open the windows because of that smoke. Was your house real it was a little warm outside, but i think a lot more sunshine than you did you might have had maybe some protection from the smoky skies just a almost the i said are we going to have an orange, whatever todays friday, an orange friday because it was a weirdly huge last night. Yeah what i did was i closed blinds drapes just like i recommend everybody else to do in actually paid off because my place stayed cool and i kept all the windows closed all the doors closed so that i didnt free than that air fried enough that theyre at work so make sure stay inside did not leave my house le set to walk the dog and you could smell the wildfire smoke in San Francisco. Thats kind crazy here in lafayette, you can really small wildfire smoke, but you can definitely tell the air quality is not Crystal Clear take a look at this map you can see the air quality is unhealthy not good to be breathing in across the bay area that is what were seeing. High 100s low to hundreds, i mean in some areas even worse really as were saying though its really rough for not only dealing with high temperatures again today but were also going to be continuing to see this bad air quality which is worse than yesterday and here in the east bay its going to be high 90s almost triple digits in some cases very very high 90s specially here in walnut creek concord lafayette in we have a red flag warning that got extended i predicted correctly until tomorrow at 6. We saw blankets of smoky hazy air above this entire east bay area yesterday and it was crazy to see it looks like fog but note that is haziness that a smoking is even though looked really bad yesterday it is still worse today. So once the sun comes up to see just how bad it is and we spoke with the ucsf doctor about the effects of breathing this in long term because this is something weve been dealing with for weeks besides that small pocket of a break we got last week. There are a couple of small studies that are showing us if you live around the wildfire smoke in our really for long periods of time. Exposed to this a particular matter at high levels for a long time that actually does impair lung function and noted that seems to be the case over. At least a couple of years. But we also have no some other looking at air pollution so looking at say areas air pollution in general is say from and traffic or exposure to factories. That we know that air pollution in which wildfires are and some can we see little risk of developing. Seal Heart Disease cancers. And thats comforting i feel for the firefighters who have to smell that all the time i always wonder how they deal with it because a lot of times theyre not wearing a mask out there while fighting the wildfires and of course media police all of us out there next to the fires but even so being here just in the east bay or in the south bay or even in the Santa Cruz Mountains or seeing a lot of that poor air quality so go on make sure you stay indoors as much as possible she just said it can be dangerous and to reiterate again red flag warning today goes into effect today until tomorrow at 6 in the morning and were going to day this weekend were going into a weekend of bad air quality high temperatures winds and high heat so again a recipe for wildfire, lets all do our part make sure that we have that go bag ready make sure we stay indoors as much as possible. There is a hard closure a few miles from this location. So this area still predominantly evacuated, theyre only allowing First Responders to come and go the air quality is horrible visibility. Just as bad. You might be able to see some haze and we want to show you some video in the overnight hours the fires continue to burn through this area in the overnight hours there are crews up in the hills china establish some fire lines try to get this under control, but this day perhaps is the worst recipe for just miserable conditions because james darya one theres a possibility rolling blackouts here. Some people dont have power but theyre staying inside their homes. Horrible air quality the heat and then if you dont have air conditioning that you want to open up your window just to have a little bit of cool cool down. Thats something were going to be following throughout the morning as you know the succession of power and how the administration is going to work with so many people in quarantine including the president as you can see here from his tweet talking about how we he begins the quarantine and recovering process with melania that theyll get through this together melania tweeting the first lady saying as too Many Americans have done this year. Now a that the president s physician put out said that the president and the first lady are both doing well at this time and that they plan to remain at home within the white house during a convalescence if things do get worse of course he maybe transferred to walter reed so a lot of speed looking for that development should it happen. It just its just perplexing about the fact that when youre exposed to someone who has it and he knew that hope hicks had it that is when youre told direct contact with someone who had it so you should quarantine. Even before your own test comes back so the president was out in active. And then the test came back and now.
