2 contained it has destroyed 80 homes in napa and sonoma counties and more than 22,000 structures are threatened right now. Nation, this red flag warning has been issued for the north bay mountains takes Effect Tomorrow afternoon. At 1 oclock and that could certainly spell trouble for firefighters already stretched pretty thin as it is. Our chief meteorologist Lawrence Karnow joins us now with what were looking at. Alright scary as were going to see those winds make a return to the bay area, the winds. Going to be stronger now weve had the effect of that sea breeze kicking in some higher humidity in around the fires to kind of slow things down now very dry northerly wind is going to start to move in and gusting 15 to 25 Miles Per Hour humidity dropping way down 15 to 25 . So certainly were watching that very closely. Weve got active fires already right now and certainly in and around those are going to be very dangerous right now the winds are beginning to pick up a little bit were starting to see a turn out some of those winds more of a northerly component the winds you see there in glen ellen also in the sonoma up to 12 Miles Per Hour soda springs atlas peak. But those winds will continue and intensify as we get towards special, i think tomorrow afternoon and evening. I think right between about 6 maybe 10 maybe 1039. I think that will be the strongest of the winds that are coming through you see right here on the computer models overnight tonight, the winds begin to subside a little bit tomorrow morning not much but more of a northerly component in those winds and then as we head toward the following afternoon there. We go thursday 6 oclock in the evening, start to see those winds picking up these are downs on the urban areas over the mountain top so its going to be stronger than that watch the colors begin to fill in you start to see the yellow here you look up to our scale gusting over 20 Miles Per Hour maybe with some 30 mile an hour gusts in around some of these canyons here but its going to be pushing the fire thats already here in place its going to be pushing it further south watch out and saying only in a rather for all the way down to yell bill the fire is likely going to be headed in your direction that looks like those winds begin to subside but not till after midnight and then the following a day it looks like those winds switched directions again coming out of the west and picking up so certainly place like england you have to watch out for more fire troubles by friday evening guys back to well it has now been almost 48 hours since the entire town of calistoga has been evacuated and while winds were calm today and that was good there are renewed concerns as weve been talking about. Santa rosa home owners are bracing for the worst as reports are trickling out about the destruction from the glass fire. Its really emotional time as those evacuated from the fire zone are waiting for confirmation about whether or not they even have a house to go home to and some of them dealt with this speck in 2017 in the north bay fire storm then kron fours maureen kelly. Today talked to a couple who fears their home has burned to the ground. Then everybody kept saying oh everythings gonna make it even well another fire to see a jump around in. I was trying to hold out hope. And i handled it differently mel hall bach and Deborah Epstein tried to hold back their emotions as they wrap their minds around the possibility that their home is gone. So you dont know what were doing a pretty good job has just been focusing on what we need to do this is pictures of the house from before the fire which they lived in part time in rented out as a vacation property, the rest of the year. Advertising it as a green hideaway we feel that really get touch. Hundreds if not thousands of la times and really had such deep sold to it they say theyve been told that of the nearly dozen properties in their neighborhood only one is Still Standing when i went up there to try and confirm that i could see one home seemingly untouched by flames up on the ridge. But not far away a neighbors home has been completely leveled by the fire and is now a pile of ash and twisted metal as i got closer to the address those trying to get to i was stopped by a downed power pole smoke still billowing out from several spots in the canyon. Well i was not able to officially confirm that the couples home was lost it certainly doesnt look good. They are already bracing for the worst and are just as upset about the devastation to the nature around them we had gear. We had 5 cats. Tons of birds. And theyre all parish you know never hear about. That part what happens and and all of natures call and i know everythings going recall organ but nonetheless horror that they had that experience and and so i think its saying its too nice gets and by that this is the 3rd time that area has been evacuated since 2017 the first 2 times that couples home was spared. It doesnt appear theyre going to be lucky this time around this point they say its too soon to say whether or not theyre going to rebuild. Maureen kelly kron 4 news. Time now check our forecast, a red flag warning is being issued for the glass fire area starting tomorrow afternoon along with a flex alert starting at 3 pm until 10 00pm. Chief meteorologist Lawrence Karnow is here lawrence thats not even to mention what these high winds could do to the fires currently that are burning and also the decreasing. Air quality which is a factor so much you can really see that smoke begin to make its way in across the rest the bay area the win that started to shift directions and youll see right here the very latest a few hours in the north bay you can see some of those winds started to come out of the north pushing that smoke from the fire all the way back in across the rest the bay area certainly thats going to be a problem for everybody else. But boy the conditions just getting a very bad as were going to see the winds begin to pick up we see a little bit this afternoon the glen ellyn you see 12 mile hour winds out of the north northwest 12 also on the west at 10 and the awful remember some of these winds going to twisted around some of these can use some of these mountainous regions in and around this area, but the predominant wind is going to be shifting more of a northerly direction and that is when thats going to cause a lot of problems especially in around that fires likely see some gusts over 20 maybe 25 Miles Per Hour maybe some 30 mile an hour gusts in some of those canyons heres the forecast for some of those winds overnight tonight actually likely going to calm down but more of a northerly component you see that start to settle in as we head toward tomorrow morning. Then as we head through the day tomorrow, you know those winds begin to pick up by tomorrow evening think that will be the really the brunt of these winds will be tomorrow evening between about 6 and about 1010 30 tomorrow night and then the winds going to shift directions again so all of us and that fire is going to be moving to the south by tomorrow night and then its going to shift to the west and push to the east as were going to see those winds coming now the west by tomorrow night. So certainly that fire is going to be moving around humidity is also going to be dropping off those north winds really shut off any chance of moisture coming in off the ocean water and that means we get very very dry and so by tomorrow were talking about 20 maybe 30 in some spots may be down about 15 in and around the fire. So certainly dangerous fire conditions. It looks like that fire could spread rapidly by specially tomorrow night. Lawrence. Meantime coming up tonight at 6. 45 we. And high temps theyre expected to continue tomorrow indeed want to go now to kron 4 chief meteorologist Lawrence Karnow large when might we get some relief here. Boy i dont think we get some significant relief really until the weekend. Well watch these temperatures spike this is all part of that same ridge of High Pressure thats been sitting over head brought us the hot weather in the offshore winds last weekend see another round now as we head in toward tomorrow, we start to see that northerly component the winds and you see all that smoke all that is out there just looking filthy out over San Francisco right now as the smoke from the fire has moved in the east bay kind of start to see that orange glow in the atmosphere, the sun is getting ready to set showing right through all the particular matter there from the smoke. Settling in over the bay tonight and up toward the golden gate bridge. You see some of that smoke there in the background but along the coastline have been spared. A lot of the smoke so far from those fires in fact out there right now weve got poor air quality inside the bay as you might expect very unhealthy years you get in the concord you get into the delta in the Central Valley and back along the coastline. Weve had enough of a breeze that kept the air quality pretty good up toward the beaches but things are going to shift again tomorrow. I think that northerly winds start to strengthen that is going to bring with them or very unhealthy air expected across much of the north bay poor air quality inside the bay for tomorrow all the way down in the san jose unhealthy in the live more in concord sam ramon, while moderate amounts of smoking makes a way out toward the coastline. So. Yeah certainly today we saw the temperatures begin to pop just a little bit 70s in the San Francisco 80s in the oakland also into san jose a hot 101 in little more than 20 degrees above the average 96 in concord and 89 degrees in santa rosa, its going to lot harder to in fact, heat advisories going up as we head in toward tomorrow. Thats going to kind of a quick hitter those winds shifting offshore for just one day thats going to send those temperatures up in the 80s even some upper 90s by the time you make your way into redwood city by tomorrow afternoon Santa Clara Valley also in the hot any 90s even upper 90s into san jose by a lot of part of the day and youre going to see overnight lows staying very relatively mild the 50s and 60s even all 70 degrees parts of the east bay you can see 90s inside the bay in oakland all the way down through. San lorenzo also down in new work and then you get to the tri valley were talking triple digit heat there as high as a 102 side 100 many spots inland tomorrow in the antioch maybe a little bit warmer than that theyre in the concord see triple digit heat then you get inside the bay a little bit cooler but in and around the fire guess what weve got that triple digit heat expected by tomorrow afternoon, some gusty winds very dry conditions of
