Damage. More than 8,000 structures still threatened as we wake up this morning. Yeah, when you saw metal would go down just big recognizable places like big wineries and then peoples homes, this is the circle of where the fire is burning east of saint and Calistoga Napa county and east of santa rosa. In Sonoma County. They dont know the cause they just know that this fire spread rapidly with the heavy winds and were still under a warning for that so theres 0 containment were continuing to follow the latest 60,000 people have been evacuated, including the entire town of calistoga kron fours will tran has been live for us there in napa county. Bringing us up to speed on the latest firefighting efforts and will they were working to save a home this morning looks like they were successful for now. For now they are actually having their breakfast because theyve been working nonstop for pretty much 48 hours so those heroes are next and a fire truck in front of the house just finally getting something to eat you can see what they did to this hillside, so they purposely set this hillside on fire from the top down there working their way backwards closer. So the home they took advantage of the humidity levels being high in the overnight hours and the lack of wind and you can clearly see its burning itself out despite the dry leaves on the ground. They were counting on the humidity being high that once it burn it would burn itself out and then now that the sun is up the humidity level is. Lower its colder the winds could pick up as well so thats why in the overnight hours they did. So much work to try to save this house and it worked because look how close it is to this house right here guys this is on tucker road off of highway 29 about a mile from calistoga this home has been evacuated so part of the 68,000 people that had to rush out of their homes in fact i can tell you in front of their home they havent evacuated tag. From the Sheriffs Department but their home is intact right now not even damage whatsoever. Theyre hoping to do not just this home, but many other homes along the way a preemptive effort to fight fire with fire because we do know once the sun reaches higher and higher into the sky, the air starts to move a little bit more and then humidity levels drop and they wont be able to do what they did which is take the fight to the fire and not beyond their heels with the fire coming to them. But they are not going anywhere guys because theyre not taking anything to chance in case. The fire does pick up. I want to quickly show you over here look at this. They have their houses on the ground. All right there stretched out all over the place around the home just in case the fire explodes and they have to fight it finally with water they never touched it at all in the overnight hours, however back to you all right, thanks a lot. Well. And for more on the situation there in Sonoma County were joined on the phone this morning once again with Sonoma County supervisor susan gorin whose district includes a lot of eastern santa rosa thats evacuated right now a thank you so much for joining us again. Good morning. Its great to be here a little ongoing and there youre late last night he for the did you get a better nights sleep then we talked to you yesterday and you running on about 4 hours of fuel. Wow it thing when my head hit the pillow about 8. 30 or without last night, yeah. Well, the unfortunate thing is you know between when we talked to yesterday and this morning. This fire has tripled in size. Yes, and weve been doing really media have another you check case of a fire i think what is if you look at our fire outline. It looks both blob but. The fire took him bird all over the place and we have not caught fire. And singer of fire going out down into various ever ended up being in play and not unlikely places this is challenge all of our fire fired. Happy days put her isolated areas out of the think theres a fire. And i know that you evacuated and you have a home in my neighborhood we actually have a live shot there. Im sure a lot of people are frustrated and want to say where their home saved or not they of course cannot go back and like you said because spot fires could happen at any time. So were taking a live look here. I dont know if you have a screen you can look at. But were showing you know different homes that either have been lost or saved in that area so that you know you will recognize them. My knowledge and maybe you can come because were having a lack of knowledge about where the houses are located, i know want to on white oak im backing great well separate law that larry yeah and it looks like theyre to haul and i dont know whether fingers down the highway. Well or they are are they found rich or matter it, you know the name of will this put 3 is this particular live shot is coming off of stone bridge. But we know the kron 4 Sarah Stinson was on meadow ridge. Earlier this morning where she did also see at least one home there that had burned. It seems the the homes closest to highway 12 appeared to be most susceptible. And of course we live in oakmont its named after a we working hard in training fire why community, im not catholic rethink some oak tree come down. And at oak tree law my fire, the is that you have a question everybody great thanks for that information or not yet. Confirmation because youre right everybody wants to know if their how how your safe and theyre contacting the supervisor said i want to make sure Accurate Information and im sure you probably hear from people with you know between napa and Sonoma County 68,000 people evacuated you hear from them saying. Well, you know my neighborhood seems to be fine right now can we just get in. I tree year ago even arent you enter people are desperate to get into their neighborhoods. They want to after can if theyre how survive, but they all now. Have a happened about them even they know their house joint they want to go look around the perimeter. I love you soon to go diving on the National Side know from experience and so i people to be patient. We will get them the information but the fire is still active. We are not letting people back in to the areas because anything could happen. And i think i know sometimes people that all your city of fresh air a county official you you know you you cant feel for me and youre speaking from experience so they know when you say i know how it feels that you know how it feels. And i have a wealth of experience the book the great up looking through the my husband said sharon the paper york looking the acid i think the f and i agree cleanup. Battle insurance eventually just fine and im personally read alex lee how they there. Oberg youre dealing with skyrocketing costs of. Insurance in these fire areas. We have not officially silent with her Insurance Company we additional coverage because we are rebuilding and bought it and i think torture yeah it is it i and i hate to put it this way because you it means weve gone through this too many times before but it seems as though the community is so well practice now that we have businesses like the sonoma raceway immediately stepped up to open up a lot of its nearby lands to help those that have been evacuated is encouraging to see that. Were so grateful you the and the number right way one thing and opening up to no longer a straight for the people can come here first. Absolutely perfectly located away from the fires but also complaint about valiant know about that people could accessed that the public open or you could go along highway 37 inch and that because the hole normally we have opened up a large Evacuation Center at the fairgrounds little around to everybody. And now were finding we have take course and you bringing for covid in quarantine many have you we we were up immediately. At the Center Building in the center their ground noma county fairgrounds we out of lineup and that brown or is now were opening up areas and Community Centers and churches wanting to be fake. Not complicating the evacuation. You know was extra hard for i have to assume you dont have a dog or a cat because your hotel is extra hard for pet owners. It we are thanking with my motherinlaw here is great hes like a trooper with this ok and her dog so the hotel is taking all kinds of traps talking about all of that thats good you know thats good to know would i i want repeat where sarah is and will continue going to her. Throughout the morning so do stay tune. So you can see your neighborhood we searched over to video of month at that that street that she was on was wondering bridge. So we just showed stone bridge and then and then earlier this is where sarah was in oakmont and i know that youre going to some of these. Homes supervisor and i know a lot of your neighbors will as well so well continue to try to do that because you and everybody else we know can not get in because its not safe. We thanks for joining us this morning on on better nights sleep. Thank you and thank you for your coverage or it really reassuring everybody enough on to an all out where you know that youre on being your cell known whether president s are destroyed or not to get confirmation of where the fire happening. And the fact still very active. All right very well keep it up and and you stay strong well talk to later. All right thank you so much that was Sonoma County supervisor susan gorin again her district represents a lot. Of eastern santa rosa where weve been inside these mandatory evacuation zones bringing you these pictures. And you can see here in these nighttime shots sort of the ash and the smoke kind of blowing around wafting in the when the air quality is horrible we have remind you that to and john says its going to be that way right through friday. Yeah going to stay that way guys the good news is winds have calmed down. But thats also the bad news too. As far as air quality goes that spoke is going to settle back into the bay. You can notice the haze overhead thats fog down below thats pushed into the bay area welcome fog at the coast as its helping to keep air quality relatively clean up the surface but for inland areas in the north bay lake Sonoma Napa Solano and even down into the east bay for contra costa counties. We are looking at a big impact from that smoke you can see that ash falling in some of our video just a moment ago, almost looking like snow and that very evident with our very worst of air quality for portions of sonoma and napa counties this morning so limit outdoor exposure as much as possible. Winds pretty calm in these areas which is definitely helped to limit the growth of wildfire activity during overnight hours last night. Obviously we saw the most of that growth from sunday night into monday morning as winds were the strongest. Now that things have calmed down fire crews at least hopefully again the advantage on this place. Calmer winds a little bit of fog moisture moisture atmosphere pushing into the bay area, well keep humidity and a healthier level today, not going to be seeing those single digit numbers like we did yesterday when conditions were so bone dry. So windy and hot too. This morning already a cooler start with 50s and 60s for current temperatures, ill step out of the way of the north bay you remember yesterday we had the upper 80s in areas like cloverdale see alina napa these areas are solid 20 to 30 degrees. Cooler this morning. Just another bit of good news as crews get out there for the wildfire fight as we move into the afternoon. It will be hot. It will be dry again so were not out of the woods but we have seen improvements as compared to yesterday. James all right john thank 13 is the time as we head to break well share with you again another image. Captured in the glass fire this picture taken on Crystal Springs road in saint helene and you can see whats left of this house just several chimneys standing off in the distance like well be right distance like well be right back. Into the evening, this. Is how the fire spread because as you know between yesterday morning when we talk to you and today, the fires tripled in size. And there in the upper if you can see it getting later in the evening, look look at the flare up there and then in the darkness, yeah. Fire driving in did you happen to see the moon it was our and i did this guy did and we remember the bad air quality the worst day when every debate turn how we are looking at bad air from now through friday. Because of the wildfires that are burning in sonoma and napa counties are big story we keep going live there and we were just talking to a supervisor from sonoma from the oakmont neighborhood from Sonoma County in santa rosa. And she was so appreciative of seeing these live shots because even she cant get back into these and that live picture was brought to us by kron 4 Sarah Stinson who has been out there this morning giving us the latest updates from oakmont and other areas but. Youre still in oakmont this morning, sarah. Thats right oh come on which is a Senior Living community and its an area very dense neighborhood of about 5,000 homes so when a fire is encroaching on it theres major concern that it will just completely wreck all of them, i mean that would be a lot of devastation at one time its similar to well the tubbs fire would be but firefighters have been mostly successful in saving homes, this one, not so much this is devastated and destroyed, but with fire that they put out they save. Hundreds of other homes though this home is actually a good example to show you because it is on stone bridge road and you can see behind it. A home that also could have caught fire at this home had just been fully engulfed and spreading to the other homes very dense area. I would say only seen a handful of homes that have burned down in this neighborhood which is quite a blessing considering what it could have been right here off of highway 12 in this Community Living and you can see here small during its smoking its completely destroyed again. This is stone bridge road. Its a little leg of the main stone bridge road. In oakmont in earlier today weve seen active flames are seen firefighters chasing hot spots putting them out making sure doesnt spread here we have the tree on and adele state park which is about really close to half a mile from this neighborhood if not touching the neighborhood and because its so close to that theres also concern that it would spread to the homes and wreak havoc so weve seen some successes weve seen of course devastation a lot of devastation from the glass fire, but were going to continue to drive around hope flicking find another spot for you because i know people are anxious. They want to see more and more and more so hopefully at 9 oclock i can give you a different look somewhere off highway 12 or maybe even further into oakmont for now reporting live and east santa rosa Sarah Stinson kron 4 news, thanks and im hoping i dont know if you could hear one were showing your live shot the superviso s saying. Even if youre showing homes that are a total loss. They appreciated people want to see it sounds terrible right youre going this this home is gone, but they want to see that. So appreciated. Coming up next on the kron 00 04am morning news, more destruction and this is from sunday night when the black rock in insane alina. Burned to the ground. And heres a quick live look outside again one of our cameras, the top. Sonoma county hillside. This one a calfire camera showing us all the smoke thats blanketing the north bay right now filtering in other parts of the bay as well the fires continue to burn the firefighting efforts still at maximum well have more coverage wild thing, you make my heart sing wild thing i. Think i. You know what i think . I think you owe us 48. 50. Wild thing. If you ride, you get it. Geico motorcycle. Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or more. Happening today, President Trump and democratic candidate joe biden will be meeting on stage for the very first debate before the election in november. We have video the stage being set up this is inside Case Western Reserve University in cleveland ohio, the university of notre dame was supposed to host the debate but they backed out citing concerns over the pandemic the debate is set to begin at 6 oclock tonight and tune in right here on kron 4 were going to bring it to you live. And you know what else gets under way today, the wild card race and the as are in it. They are hosting the Chicago White sox at the coliseum the first game is at noon and this is the 3rd straight season, the as will be playing in the post. But theyve lost in the wildcard round each of the last 2 years. This time around manager bob melvin is starting pitcher hayess on the mom melvin believes that hes ready for the test. As we saw last year we you know we use them in a different role. We brought him in the wildcard games and looked like a veteran on the mount you know its really well hes compose hes got great stuff. I think youre is one of those guys that kind of relishes these type of games. So game one is at noon game 2 is at noon and then since its a best of 3 if need be theyll play game 3. We dont have a first pitch time for that yet. As we head to break. Lets give you another look now at some of the damage caused by the fires burning in napa and Sonoma County, more homes destroyed these were pictures taken in the sky hawk neighborhood of santa rosa. A 28 right now and the breaking news continues as we cover the wildfires that are burning in sonoma and napa counties. There are about 68,000 people who have been evacuated so far including the entire town of 5,000 of calistoga. Now the fire has scorched more than 36,000 acres again 56 square miles in size 113 structures destroyed more than 8500 others still threaten this morning. And the map that we have here for you shows you the outline will bring it up in a second there it is the red line is the perimeter of the fire and it stretches from the napa valley where it began. Right between calistoga in saint and then eventually spread over the hill and down into the Sonoma Valley and has now begun to really impact eastern portions of santa rosa weve seen several communities burn. Several homes burn as well cause of the fire still unknown. But we know all broke out while we were under red flag warning conditions. Well the glass fire also has burned down dozens of homes in Sonoma County as we move to that part of the north bay for more on the situation now there we joined live this morning by phone. With jet Deputy SheriffBrandon Jones from the Sonoma CountySheriffs Office deputy jones thank you for joining us this morning. Hey good morning james and darya thank you so much for having me. So tell the latest as far as the damage done in Sonoma County do you have account on the neighborhoods that were the hardest hit. So we dont have any damage estimate yet were still on the you know Crisis Response mode in the first 24 hours. I can tell you i worked the first night of the deadly tubbs fire back in 2017 and i work the first night of the fire and they were very similar in their deal with the massive wind blowing around. And so we were you know really expecting a new kind of a really rough night. The first night and the fire did you know walk from lena down in the santa rosa with some impunity. And we did think take some damage along the way. Thank goodness. We were left with favorable conditions by my and come home, you know calm winds, favorable temperatures and definitely not a that that is the first time. We took some home while on the very east end of santa rosa and skyhawk neighborhood and then a little farther east of there over oakmont neighborhood theres been some home office. And we havent been able to get really into the major burn area around the think lena road area yet but pretty pretty easy to assume that there are some merits. Well what about for people who are looking and saying all. It didnt go near my neighborhood i got out. Now id like to get back in. Im sure that people are anxious for that, but how long do think its going to be before any of those evacuees are able to go back into a neighbors that neighborhoods that were not touched. Well the evacuation fatigue is a real thing that these people experience and considering we have been evacuated for 3 quarters of last month of not more completely the problem with winddriven fires is the they push all that hot ash and amber. I away from the perimeter of the fire so about fires are more common with that wind driven fires and so its harder just assume that just because the fires, you know a couple of miles away its going to come near me if they can show up at a moments notice probably be a little bit to open things up quickly until things really start to cool down and they really get a handle on the fire so without is is please be patient. We have several employees that are evacuated from their homes we want to get them back to south as possible. We will get everybody home soon as we can. You know we notice that compared to yesterday there are a couple other zones now that it either on her list mandatory evacuation Like Community south of Bent Mountain or under evacuation warnings. In other portions of eastern santa rosa have you seen that people are at hearing to those warnings and to those Evacuation Orders are they moving out accordingly. So for the most part. There are still some outliers that refused to evacuate and obviously thats not ideal for us we want it completely uninhabited area so everybody can focus on fighting the fire and not focus on arresting people. Are populists has been wonderful. Unfortunately they have had a ton of practice with over the last few years. We by and large have you know very quick compliance with neighbors help neighbors to get each other out. Its been real Solid Community effort is occupations and a lot to over the last month had have been very very smooth and where very thankful for community for that. Between sonoma napa counties weve seen 68,000 people be evacuated. Everybody getting out with those last orders yesterday but we saw things change our air in the morning where warnings turns to mandatory orders do you see that happening this morning any of those warning areas you think theyre going to turn to be mandatory evacuations. This morning. So why 2 nights ago played differently because we have the fire start you know fairly late the evening, 9 3010 oclock by the time was really getting in the Sonoma County. And so as it as it marched down the hill with the horrible weather conditions we had we were constantly having to warn and then order and then warren and then order and it was just kind of like series of dominoes collapsing on itself. Last night we had no new orders no new Evacuation Orders whatsoever that tells us that the fire didnt make a lot of progress that has entered into those through the horrors own the point that we have to change the adjacent warnings on the order so as of right now i dont anticipate any of those. Changing and along with the with the weather season say we should be standing pat and you should point out the difference between. Just because its not advancing in you dont see it blowing up in size like you did the night before doesnt mean that containment anywhere because it hasnt. Oh absolutely you know the theme of 2020 has been competing you know weve had 3 or 4 you know the largest wildfires in california history all occurring within a brief period of time in several months simultaneously so you know every Single Community that having these disasters is fighting to get the resources to deal with it and theres just not enough to go around. So i you know just like with water bridge where we had to wait for. The napa fired subside a little bit before we could get some help were going to be in the same position with the other competing fires in the state. So were going the best we can with the local resources. We have they have been absolutely phenomenal thus far and we understand that the calories on the way so hopefully well have some favorable conditions until we the real resource in here to get out. Yeah closer into San Francisco in a lot of the communities here hugging the bay area. Have send help your way and like you said the state is stretched and things have turned deadly in shasta county. Theyre saying the 3 people have died there so i mean fortunately for the sonoma and napa county fires, no loss of life. You know were very very fortunate so far to not have that in. Weve had no no loss of life on the last 3 fires weve had which is an absolute blessing and given what we went through with top stock in 2017 our hearts go out to all the people up and shot the word were dealing with the loss, its just devastating and thank you so much for the update this morning. Youre very welcome of what safe that was Deputy SheriffBrandon Jones joining us from the Sonoma County. Sheriffs office. And that was an hour ago that interview and now we just found out the fire has now reached 42,000 acres so it is expanding hopefully not driven as much by the wind as it was earlier in the week we have in the Weather Center to talk more about that john yeah its the calmer winds means the explosive growth should be passed that fire still growing so were still looking at a lot of smoke being put up in of course. Families and people seeing the devastation across the north bay. Its a mix of fog down below and then some noticeable hayes up above from San Francisco here, gray skies and cooler conditions today overall from what we had been seeing now are coastal areas as marine layer slips in is actually being spared the worst of air quality right now, where you are seeing the worst of it is pretty obvious on the map in contra costa. Solano napa and sonoma counties as well that deep deep red from santa rosa through napa sonoma as well all looking at some of your worst air quality weve had ash falling in these areas too definitely better towards the coast. But big impacts across the north bay. Now the good news is we are seeing those calmer winds, calm winds across the city of the of the glass fire which as we just talked about expanded rapidly again. We are seeing some calmer winds and a little bit of that cooler moister air penetrating into the north bay and this is good news as that cooler air makes its way up there and thats going to really help out the fire fight yet again today so calmer winds cooler and less dry. Those are all 3 good factors in improvements for your tuesday. Humidity not as bad as it was yesterday, we saw single digit relative humidity into the afternoon. That is not expected today as we do see that increase marine layer pushing back in after hot dry winds yesterday morning, 50s 60s for your current temperatures what a difference from yesterday at the same time saint helene and cloverdale youre in the 80s yesterday at this point areas like napa full 20 degrees cooler all morning long and we will maintain cooler temperatures into the afternoon, not as stark difference, but a cooler day nonetheless with upper 90s for warmest temperatures inland. And 80s right along the bay james. All right john thank you we have to make a quick correction here. All morning long weve been going down the list of School Districts that have been closed because of the fires. Were only us lee said. Grabbing stein School District closed down. That is not correct still during distancelearning they are. Bigger the bigger district affected. I mean there are many districts, but the all of Santa Rosa City schools are not Distance Learning today and tomorrow, but just one correction grabban steen kids do need to continue their zoom classes and Everything Else that theyre back on all right. There are more pictures of some of the damage done by the glass fire as we take quick break these pictures coming to us from napa county. One of the sheriffs deputies there was working to put out a hot spot monday morning as it was burning near house there in saint alina on Crystal Springs road. Well be right back. Lets talk about floors. Floors for toddlers. Floors for toys. Floors for stories. Floors for screams. Let us floor you at lowes with new ontrend floors, lighting and easy install. 41 and we do have a breaking news. We have new acreage on the fires in sonoma napa county now consuming. 42,000 acres and as the fire continues to grow we always want to keep updated on the latest with evacuation warnings and orders weve got kron fours Robin Winston in in breaking news desk. With the latest on that robin yes so we have some apps for you that we want to show you because were staying on top of all the neighborhoods and the zones that are being impacted by the fires, orders and the warnings that are in place. So the evacuation map for Sonoma County thats what we have on your screen right now weve started off with the wide view of them out because they want you to see the entire area and all the residents that are impacted by this fire. So we started wide with Sonoma County. And well zoom in and take a look at specific neighborhoods in just a bit but first we want you to Pay Attention to the little red dots the heat signature the hot spots for the shady fire the shady you can see exactly the cities and the streets that are impacted. The red and orange area that is under a mandatory Evacuation Order keep in mind. Those president should be gone completely out of those neighborhoods by now but the new information is the new evacuation warnings zones that have been added to the list you see the areas that are highlighted in yellow thats what we want to zoom in on and focus in on right now so well start off with zone, one take a look this is a neighborhood that south of highway 12 east the farmers lane so for those of you who live anywhere near my of avenues spring creek drive you are under an evacuation warning the next we have the lc zone and that includes Neighborhood Center surrounded by cypress, if you live over near creekside specific streets includes those out near sacramento and beth 3rd strive all of those areas and homes within that stretch or within the lc zone under an evacuation warning we have another zone, the 3rd ones own 3 that includes the area that south of tacoma drive east of bin at valley and those are the homes that are located along beth 3rd strive surrounded by that home us and also warrick so those 3 zones are your new evacuation zones, youre under a special warning which means you need to stand by have everything packed up and ready to go as weve seen within the last 24 to 48 hours states can change at a moments notice and i dont want you scrambling around and waiting around if the situation changes so that Sonoma County that we checked out for you now we want to transition over to now the county keep in mind that nothing new has really come in for napa county no no major changes within the last 24 hours or since yesterday. You see the areas that are shaded in blue those areas are still under a mandatory evacuation. The areas shaded in the yellow or youre or youre in that evacuation warnings and once again thats the same from yesterday the entire town of calistoga still under a mandatory Evacuation Order everyone should be out if you live or work in calistoga theres been no major day of damage to are major losses within city limits but keep in mind that the area surrounding calistoga or badly burned so thats a problem there. Fire crews remain on scene monitoring that stretch as well as all the hot spots for you and as soon as anything changes if those warnings are upgraded to orders we will definitely let you know in 47 right now and back to the breaking news the wildfires in the north bay. This is video tweeted out by cal fire. Showing you the flames and to me that looks like a volcano that does doesnt it. And all that smoke going up into the air weve seen other video too of just that ash collecting in the backyards and front yards all over the place around the north bay is all that smoke and ash is kind of just hanging around really not going anywhere. And thats why the air quality has been so horrible in all that smoke, thats just northeast of the town of angwin. In napa county if youre wondering from last night and again since we went on air this morning, they got a new count on the acreage and its now up to 42,000 acres and still theyre doing their best to try to you know gain some control but 0 containment right now and i dont know the mornings been kind of back and forth as far as the wind out my window, ill just a little slice that i can see out the window here outside of our studios john and the bushes were blowing and now theyre not and i know this warning goes right through friday, though about you know the outer the the winds that we are seeing this morning guys are fortunately not the hot dry winds that we did have sunday night into monday morning. Thats what really fueled those flames. We traded in for a coastal breeze now which is blowing in some cooler air and some more moisture laden air to those are both good things for this wild fire. You can see the rather the fog that is pushed in 30 run its easy to get confused. Smoke is still sitting above or coastal areas, but is about to be filtering down the next couple of days smoke is the worst for inland north bay spots, High Pressure is in place and with rather calm winds. These next couple of days smoke is just going to gradually settle into the region. We talked about how the glass fire grew additionally overnight now to the over 40,000 acres. You can actually see the red outline of the blaze in both sonoma and napa counties. Winds are calm in the vicinity of the fire which is good news. Humidity, not quite as bone dry another bit of good news and we will be looking at winds staying relatively calm through the day a noticeable wind shift from the west now thats pushing ocean cool. There are direction as opposed to the hot dry north easterly winds that really fanned the flames of this blaze yesterday morning, especially as i mentioned smoke is the worst for in the north bay areas where in Sonoma Napa Solano and even Contra Costa County in the east bay we are seeing a big smoke impact youre noticing also some ash fall up in the northern part of the bay area, better air quality further south and towards the coast on the peninsula you get but even these areas will see smoke gradually diffusing your direction as we work our way through the week which is why we do have spare the air alerts in effect all the way through friday. The smoke isnt going to be sent anywhere else anytime soon rather just sinking into the bay with us 70s for coastal spots today 80s right along the bay and the 90s for inland areas, this is cooler than we were yesterday albeit still a hot day and still another couple of hot days ahead of us so were not out of the woods first fire danger goes but we have seen improvements as compared to yesterday which is certainly nice as we make our way into friday youll start to notice a cooler field to conditions and by saturday and sunday were back into the 80s for warmest of temperatures. Daria. Thanks a lot john and lets go back to our fire coverage down many vineyards resorts and homes have been burned in these fires firefighters are trying to get ahead of it, theyre using helicopters dropping water on hot spots near saint and you can see the rough terrain, the hillsides the way that theyre dropping the water on the fire.
