Out ok getting away unscathed the fire 10 tearing through this area early this morning but crews remain here on the scene tonight. They are putting out some hot spots and mopping up the area roads in this area also remaining closed police making the rounds out here hillsides surrounding these communities also have been charred throughout the day today an into that into tonight. Theres been thick smoke in the air and theres also been a lot of ash that has been falling from the sky. Other communities all along highway 12 also having to deal with the flames buildings there and property there burned and destroyed. We actually spoke with one man who says that he was lucky that he did lose his home. But unfortunately his neighbor did. We got here they were you know a lot of activity this house was you know and claims are trees are on fire. The backyard with on fire the backfield behind us. Does seem like. If properties are starting to flare up. The house to my left is completely burned down. The house across the street got a little bit of fire damage jumped over there some point overnight. Couple houses behind us burn down. We were very fortunate firefighters came to keep it at bay. Right now were seeing flames off in the distance off camera here and that and bell state park where the flames are continuing to sort of move their way down the hills de over there heading towards Channel Drive weve been told by santa rosa fire officials that there are some homes that are threatened in that area as for this immediate area here the power as you can see is out it is pitch black out here. It is dangerous people are being told to avoid this area. Cruz however are going to be remaining on scene throughout the night tonight in case there are any more little fires that seem to be popping up. Now because of these fires Distance Learning is canceled now for several School Districts in Sonoma County. They are the Bennett Valley Union School District kenwood School District Valley Union School District grabban steen Union School District thats closed due to lack of staff. Sonoma valley unified School District and all Santa Rosa City schools have canceled Distance Learning for tuesday and wednesday, but the district will continue to serve grab and go meals. A heartbreaking loss tonight for people in the napa valley and in fact across the bay area and around the world, the glass fire burned through the famed metal would resort kron fours Sandra Sackey went to the property to check out the damage there. The last fire tore through parts of saint helene on monday making its way to the world renowned of metal wood resort. I watched one of its lodges for him to the ground or on meadow wood lane and this is one of the cottages a part of the meadow wood resort. You can see this one is a total loss firefighters here behind me trying to hose this thing down theyve actually protected some of the properties nearby but they say that this is not the only college thats gone up in flames. Well, its club house was Still Standing several of its event spaces and venues, including a drone would said and then theres rooms nearby overlooking the golf course were reduced to rubble. According to google maps. It looks like the same area house to restaurants, including its michelin star restaurant. Firefighters say theres about 3 or 4 strike teams in the property which includes up to 80 firefighters. Now we know a lot of people were checking in about the restaurants, one of them being very famous and this is actually the entrance of what used to be one of its restaurants, unfortunately looks like both of those. Now destroyed, and again, its seems like they were in the same area, some of its then unfortunately a lot of people you know enjoy that spot so i have already heard from some other chefs on social media saying that they showed a lot of tears tonight, the key ken. Of we learned that the restaurant was destroyed so were getting a little bit of conflicting information there new information coming in, but we just showed you the picture. Yeah guys, good news is were seeing an end to those offshore winds those winds were blowing 30 to 50 Miles Per Hour rough winds. Blow that fast theres nothing you can do to stop the fire. Were fortunate this afternoon all of a sudden the wind started to switch directions. And you know what actually getting a little bit of an onshore breeze and that is some great news for firefighters here the latest wind conditions only 2 Miles Per Hour in santa rosa, only 3 rohnert park over the mountain tops were seeing 5 maybe 7 Miles Per Hour. So very light winds compared to what we had and that is starting to be an on shore breeze so that will make a big difference for firefighters trying to fight this fire going to see an influx of a lot of moisture in the atmosphere to over the next couple days. And that is going to slow the for momentum of that fire overnight tonight, youll see here as we head through the night were going to see overnight into tomorrow morning look at that calm conditions around a good part of the bay area. No real strong winds like we had thank you can see calm in the santa rosa starting out tomorrow morning as we head toward the afternoon. Well see that afternoon sea breeze kick in but you can see that comes out of the southwest in santa rosa at 7 Miles Per Hour that is a much lighter breeze and that is a much more moist breeze that will be moving on shore and that has been the big turn today as High Pressure begins slide a little further to the east and as the axis of that ridge moves eastward. All of a sudden we see a suddenly surge of low clouds and fog and thats exactly what we need to see models are starting to pick up on that moisture trend to this the forecast for the humidity over the next 24 hours as we take you through the night tonight were going to see a surge of moisture look at all the green here that has some very moist air moving in by tomorrow morning were talking relative humidity. In santa rosa in around that fire nearly saturation point thats almost a 100 that means were going to see a very slowmoving fire conditions tomorrow morning now of course you get the afternoon in a little bit of heating the atmosphere weve had some very hot temperatures record heat today tomorrow is going to be another hot one in the valleys. This is the campground available for evacuees it can handle about 2000 campers but as of right now just a couple people. Are taking advantage of this space but it is open and available for anyone. Who needs a place to stay normally it be prepared in october now it seems to be. The prepare an august steve pages the president sonoma raceway he opened up the 50 acre campground to evacuees who had to leave their homes because of the glass fire there are showers bathrooms and tons of space for those who are able to bring a tent an rv or a camper page says this fire reminds him all too much of the tubbs fire in 2017 very reminiscent. This was not one solid wall of fire that moved in the city limits, its spotted in the city and sometimes some areas a mile ahead of itself. So a lot of areas with a lot of work that needs to be done. And we understand that the evacuations of affected 10s of thousands of people in santa rosa as well as in Sonoma County. We definitely want to be able to get people back home but its going to potentially be several days in order to do that neighborhoods that have been evacuated include Rincon Valley as well as skyhawk where we are oakmont molina. And now Bennett Valley because the fire has gotten into an state park. But if theres one thing working in firefighters favor tonight. Its the fact that winds have really come down. Residents are hoping that if they made it through sunday night, the house might make it through monday night. It started to weaken someone up toward the Golden Gate Bridge is very thick out there some dense fog settling in right now maybe a little damp maybe a little drizzle overnight tonight that is fantastic news we can move this further and further on shore thats really going to help out firefighters but the air quality. Yeah, it doesnt look bad in fact it looks really good into San Francisco along the coastline in the san mateo mill valley as well nevada looking good modern amounts include some haze as you get to the interior valleys all the way down to san jose and of course the north bay. Now tomorrow of course those winds calming down could have the air quality weve got some very unhealthy air quality in red here located in the north bay from kerrville all the way down through petaluma the bottle sandra fell in the mill valley and then unhealthy air quality also in orange here extending all the way inside the bay down to san jose and the east bay, the only place you can get your breath of fresh air is probably right along the coastline think theres going to be enough of a southwest wind to keep the air pretty fresh out toward the coast but to go along with that of course you can see some of that ash fall as well, especially in the north and theres some smoke has been pushed out over the ocean that is going to start to come back on shore temperatures around the bay area right now 64 degrees in San Francisco. It is 65 in oakland, 70 degrees warm still in san jose 75. In the more 78 in concord and 62 degrees in santa rosa longrange forecast. This is a huge dome of High Pressure the built overhead that brought us those offshore winds and a record breaking temperatures look at that sending any chance of rain well to the north thats going to be the case again for tomorrow and really the week ahead.
