And more breaking news as well with military helicopters attempting to rescue more than 60 people who are track right now in the creek fire in Fresno County this will be their 3rd attempt to get to those hikers the rescues had to be called off last night because of the heavy smoke and because it was getting too dark and too dangerous and gosh thats a pretty scary situation we actually have a picture of the hikers take a look. Theyre sheltering at the vermilion valley camping resort at lake edison volunteers are there theyre helping hikers say fed and hydrated as they wait to be rescued, now theyre smiling for now because theyre still a little ways off from the fire. Heres a map showing where the fire line is its that line that outlines the fire perimeter on the left side of your screen and then off to the east out at the edge of the lake thats like addison and you can see that is the camp in the Sierra Nevada National Forest where those hikers are hunker down and waiting to be rescued to fire still a little ways away but as we know these fires move quick. Just say the same time as but yeah were talking about this morning is 15 schools were supposed to be okay to reopen for in person classes, however, the school behind me Bayside Martin luther king Junior Academy they have a teacher that may have tested positive for the coronavirus because theyve tested all the teachers in all 15 of those marine county schools last week and one teacher from the sauce leader Marine City School district may have tested positive so that is a setback for this school they are going to be pushing back in person classes until next week that means they will be starting that until monday the 14th until then they will be going back to that Distance Learning 14 other in county schools though will be moving forward with those in person classes today, big big day because no other schools in the bay area are doing so this is after each school applied for a waiver to reopen was an extensive safety plan and the Health Department approved it. They will be allowed to reopen for students in kindergarten through 6th grade, certain schools are able to open for different grades just depends on each one 11 schools have applied those applications are pending and more schools will continue to apply to reopen in doing so Protection Plan with tons of coronavirus precautions have to free have to be created. But the city has a backup as one of the first cities to experience a Public Safety power shutoff pg e recently installed an interconnection hub to help get 2 thirds of the city up and running when the power get shut off like this. Grocery Stores Pharmacies etc police fire. Everything that we need to take care of everyone else in those folks who do live in the un powered area or an energized area. Well we will have some cooling centers for them to move over to. Well if the interconnection hub works as planned it should be able to bring back power within just a few hours pg e has also set up Community Resource centers for those impacted. But that has some parents concerned especially since one of those officers is credited with saving a students life. Were in the shot its now with the story. Needs to be at the school. A 16 yearold son carson is a junior at Cordova High School who went into cardiac arrest last year his heart stopped beating and he stopped breathing right in the middle of class they lost a with help from staff including the schools resource officer tracy jacobs who perform cpr doing chest compressions for 8 straight minutes sons heart began beating again very grateful for his racing because it wasnt for her and the rest of the staff but it wasnt for her to take my and just how much does she mean to block. If she does go on for the cordova high could lose its 3 resource officers later this month the district will decide whether to continue funding to have the officers on campus or put the money toward other programs, conrad mayor heads the mentoring program at cordova high and says the sros are essential its about mentoring and teaching right from wrong.
