So if you have travel plans out this direction youre likely to see some interruptions as that storm continues to push inland as for conditions here locally we have some smoke and some fog mixed in together that is having a big impact as youre stepping outside this morning very dense fog in portions of the north bay as well as along the coastline will have an impact in visibility at times this morning in Napa Santa Rosa nevado and in San Francisco. So heres the update, according to cal fire the lnu lightning complex fires, the north bay fires. Now 33 contained the scu lightning complex fires in parts of the east and south bay, 30 contained and the czu august lightning complex fires burning in san mateo and santa cruz counties. Now 21 contained so making some progress. According to the previous guidelines, viral testing was appropriate for people with recent exposures or suspected exposure even if they didnt have any symptoms. The agency says people without symptoms who also have not been in close contact with someone whos been affected. I first heard about this change in guidelines. I actually didnt believe it for it seemed entirely bizarre in that it under pets are very basic tenants of how we control an Infectious Disease. Testing and having individuals know their status is foundational to our ability to control an Infectious Disease and certainly our ability to control covid. The 2 men spent days setting up sprinklers to try to protect their homes as the su fire inched closer and closer to them. But as james and tom jumped into their cars to head down the mountain last wednesday. The flames caught up to them toms window was down as he was driving in his beard actually caught fire. He couldnt get out of the car because his door was jammed shut. James who was just behind him jumped out of his car to try and save tom but he got caught in the fire as well tom was eventually able to drag jamess body to a water tank. And the sprinkler was coming out the top and they had to water down below there basically probably had on them and as the fire was passing over him. They knew what they were in store for they were never there to fight a fire they were only there to just make sure staff was going on and then when the point when they need to go they were going to go. Yeah so the 2 men obviously have a long road of recovery ahead, was burned over 35 of his body james burned 75 of his and again another reminder why firefighters are urging people if youre in an evacuation zone dont stay behind to try to protect the property. And were learning more about one of the 5 people who died in the lnu complex fire 64 yearold Solano County resident, leon james bone was found in his home on English Hills road. He used to live on the property with his parents who has since passed away. His family says that he was almost completely blind and he had no way of getting the word about the fire. He had no running water. No electricity, no telephone. And he had no way of being alerted. So were just assuming that he probably was so overcome by smoke and this guy there on the property in the bed. And he says assuming because family members have been allowed to get actually get to the property because of the extreme heat and thats also reason why it took First Responders a couple of days to go in and actually find his body in the home. This is some of the imagery coming as hurricane alora continues to lash louisiana in fact were following it from various angles, not only the video coming from the scene but we also john trouble in the Weather Center taking a look at it with his tools the radar and its a its still pretty impressive looking storm john absolutely very well formed and it was gaining strength all the way to making landfall last night at 01 00am when it eventually did. In the very southern part of louisiana Cameron Parish down there not a super populated area and thats not a whole lot of seawall defenses from storm surge and that was the big concern here just how high the storm surge was going to be there very low lying areas along the coastline and anticipating storm surge all the way up to i 10 which is as much as 30 miles away from the coastline. Were still looking at those advisories right along the coast. This morning. The storm has weakened to a category 2 system are some of those areas right along the coastline are still seeing winds anywhere from 30 to 40 Miles Per Hour and thats pretty far away from the center of the system that is now working its way inland as it does so we now have the potential of some very strong winds as well as heavy rain and possibility of even tornadic activity in the northeastern part of louisiana, the storms gradually going to continue to weaken, but still packs a punch as it works its way into the midwest with some very heavy rains and strong winds through arkansas eventually up towards missouri as well over the coming days, so if you have travel plans out this direction do expect disruptions to those plants here locally weve got some haze. Weve got some fog thats the way were starting this morning Napa Santa Rosa visibility down below a mile as we are seeing smoke smoke and fog both settling into the north bay this morning that means north bay air quality is our worst especially for marine and sonoma counties as you do venture outside if you have respiratory conditions that something you want to take note of unhealthy spots in the east bay and south bay as well, cooler conditions that at the same time yesterday 50s and 60s for current temperatures. Yeah every day were seeing more and more damage from the hennessy fire that roared through napa county near Lake Berryessa im live here off of highway one 28 where you can see this home completely destroyed just collapsed and burned to the ground to help museum in here you can also see this car in here burned down or really a skeleton of a car thats left there. The hennessy fire takes up about 84 of the lnu lightning complex which has burned 360,000 acres instant Napa Sonoma Solano lake counties so keep in this thats up from yesterday were reporting 357,000 yesterday. The other big fire in the complex is the wall ridge fire in Sonoma County overnight crews took advantage of the cooler temperature but still containment on this complex remains at 33 . There are still 30,000 structures threatened a 1080 have been destroyed and hundreds have been damage. The Evacuation Orders are still in place when reporting where im reporting right now near Lake Berryessa in napa county off of highway one 28 which still has roadblocks and highway one 21 as well, however, people who live in this area could finally see if the fire had touched their homes yesterday. They just had to come to the road closure at can highway one 21. To exchange their id to be exported to their properties we caught up with one of the evacuees who got to come in for the first time. Heartbreaking for a lot of people. A life way to go. With american community. I talked with a woman off camera yesterday. She has a home in Lake Berryessa she moved here from San Francisco and she heard her home was ok because you told me of some of the people who live in this area they stayed back to help try and fight and defend. The defend their homes from the fire. She said she has cool survivors killed because her home is completely fine but shell to cross the street and down the street and she had tears running down her face i saw her driving in so i talked with her off camera and she was saying that just this is an amazing place to live and its going to be a long road to recovery now today at 8 oclock or so people will be able to be let back into the Evacuation Order they have until 5 oclock in the afternoon night to leave you can see your home you can kind of look around but you cant stay because this is still an evacuation zone. High pressure is built up to our east and a nice dip in the jet stream to our west has offered us the cooldown that we saw yesterday and were going to enjoy again today got a mix of fog and some haze again back in play and especially in the north bay this morning. But we will be seeing haze into the east bay and south bay at times into the afternoon. Fog wont be as president tonight leading into tomorrow morning as we start to see that marine layer, not as deep as what we had been seeing the past couple of days nor as strong as an onshore flow is what we have this morning thats going to cool areas further inland off into the afternoon.
