And right now the entire complex in the north bay is 0 contained. And tonight, were learning all Evacuation Orders have been lifted in vacaville with the exception of south of fort hill drivein west of alamo drive from monte vista avenue to interstate 80 was michelle kingston is in vacaville with what conditions are like. Well theres not much activity here outside the eu lead his community center. This is the only Evacuation Center still open in the city of vacaville but i got to tell you that destruction out by Pleasant Valley road is devastating an American Flag still waving off of Pleasant Valley road despite the fastmoving fire that traveled sell from napa county toward vacaville early wednesday morning forcing evacuations of thousands of homes. The fire jumped interstate 80 clogging traffic for hours today we see the devastation fences burned power poles down. I have been driving up and down these roads in the hills in vacaville and i have to say there is just so much smoke these hillsides are completely charred. Wildlife is devastated. And so many homes and barns have burned to the ground fire Officials Say crews are working to stop the spread putting out hot spots throughout the city. Despite resources being stretched thin in vacaville, michelle kingston kron 4 news. And as you just saw there one of the areas hardest hit by the fires last night it was vacaville but conditions actually are improving and tonight, we know the Evacuation Orders have been lifted for the remainder of the city with the exception. Im just 2 areas joining us now is vacaville fire chief Kris Concepcion thank you for being with us tonight chief obviously things are. Or better this what are conditions like as we speak. Good evening. Yes, youre absolutely conditions are as you weve lifted all of the or most of the evacuations in the city with the exception of a small sliver to the west side. Our city north of 80 south of foothill drive and west. West of alamo. So its affecting probably between 500 and 1000 homes and as a weve shut down most of most of our Evacuation Centers and we only have one open now which is the latters community center. Yesterday when that fire jumped the freeway what went through your mind. First of all thats not something that you see very often during the fire service a fire. Jumping what is it 8 to 10 lanes of freeway. Luckily we we that the weather was going to come up to the winds were going to pick up. So we were prepared for we are able to called for the evacuation very very quickly. So that was good and our move very quickly to remove the threat from the houses because we had a call for some evacuations. But because of firefighters over to the other side of the freeway where was threatening the homes. And they were able to to do some of burnout remove the threat. Chief in marin county said that he hasnt seen a fight like this for resources in his 25 year career. How is your city doing are you getting help from the outside or are you helping different areas of the north bay and the greater Northern California area because this scope of all these fires is remarkable. Absolutely were doing a little bit of so and youre absolutely california has one of the best mutual aid systems in the country if not the world and so currently we actually have crews down in Southern California that are helping with with fires down there. We had some crews up in in reading. Were actually released it to come down and help with the firefight here at and then weve recalled just about every firefighter. And so our or have been workin. Nonstop for the last 3 theyre theyre tired, but their spirits are ive seen and nothing but heroic actions from the firefighters theyve done great work in protecting the city. And im happy to report with their efforts. There there hasnt been a single. A structure thats been damaged in the city of act will. Wonderful before we let you go we need to just revisit this for a moment, the Evacuation Orders have been lifted for the remainder of the city except for a couple of areas and are you telling residents there that you know they can rest easy tonight or is there still a danger at their door. The reason we we didnt lift the evacuations in that small area of the city of act goes. Were expecting some winds. Weve got most of you know that the weather did agree with us today. So our firefighters were able to get out there really solidify the line between the houses and the unburned fuel. So were not too worried, but just out of an abundance of caution. If we wanted we wanted to make sure the weather held tonight. So thats why we uh we didnt lift the evacuations in in that area. The residents that are in that area bear with us we just wanted to make sure that we are absolutely safe before you let you let you back to that is. All right Kris Concepcion fire chief city of vacaville appreciate your time all the best to the men and women of the vacaville fire department. Thank you thank you. I want to give you a map now showing the current evacuations in Solano County the areas in red here mandatory Evacuation Orders that includes Travis Air Force base as you can see here the yellow areas are currently well the evacuation warnings you can see a full list of all the evacuation information on our website kron 4 dot com. And check out this new video of the wall bridge fire shot just hours ago over healdsburg quite a sight there this is part of that same l and you lightning complex fire in the north bay so far it has burned 20,000 acres this one specifically it is 0 contained and that is where we find kron 4 s Taylor Bisacky tonight, taylor. Whats it like there now. Well vicki grand this is my view from killing drive in healdsburg and if you see over this way you can see those huge smoke plums weve seen a black it and some flames earlier this is the view that were seeing in the main concern obviously its for the people that live out there on the rich now. If you follow this road it will eventually need mill creek road. I drove down there i talked to a woman who. Was actually choosing to stay behind like she says a lot of our neighbors have as well. Her husband was actually dozing some lines in there. She says that they have got the horses out though they also had a lot of animals to worry about but she a she and her family have been in healdsburg from. For a long long time is that theyre actually one of the first to build in this area and they say its been such a long time since this area has burned so theyre very concerned, i mean maybe take a look just of the area. Theres so much pressure brush that is able to burn so obviously fuels for this fire. But if we come back out to me i do want to give you a look here again here behind my camera i want to show you what it looks like over the earlier the good thing here that we did see as we mentioned its now burning a 20,000 acres but i do want to we finally start to see some of those drops we saw planes coming in and i will say that. I know it looks bad now, but the smoke actually looks a little bit better from earlier here today and we look out of the view over here. Theres just a bunch of cars lined up in this area, everybody has been watching whats been going on with this fire for the last few hours some people waiting there in the car, but yeah, this is the scene out here on kelly drive people just parked along watching the progress of this fire. You know, of course people in healdsburg they were told wednesday night too leave the area, you know or at least get ready to leave i should say all as i mentioned lot of people chose to stay back, but i want to toss it to the side, a sound bite from one of people that i spoke to who is watching this fire watching its progress for a good time today. Doesnt seem like its slowing down. I mean its nice to see the planes. I dont know if you noticed and buzzing around like honestly finally out getting it from the air which is great and i think theyre more hitting the very north end of it it looks like and this kind of murky stern part. They havent had that much it also plans thats something to stop and see what happens otherwise its up to the grades. Well again were out here in healdsburg and that fires burning off to the west and its moving now south more southwards so lots of concerns for those people out there living and the hills by that ridge, some have chosen to leave others are choosing to stay so well have to monitor the situation. The key grant. Yeah the gentleman you just spoke to talked about having to leave it to the grapes we notice that the vineyards are behind you in previous fires in napa and sonoma we found that the vineyards actually formed a bit of a fire is that the giving us a level of confidence that you can youre in a safe spot. Absolutely video just a bunch of grapes here vineyards here behind me and if you travel long actually further along when you get closer to that hill. There are more vineyard so hopefully that will help out if the fire does prove progress and make it that far you know as weve seen in the past these been years have really helped out and just for a reference you know we obviously this is an area thats been from fires in the past but healdsburg over on the other side to the east we had the kincade fire. So you know this is bringing up bad memories for a lot of people but now this is the other side, the west side. You can see here behind me a lot of fresh russia that didnt burn in last years fire. So we just got to keep monitoring and hopefully everybody is paying attention to those evacuations right stay safe, well check back with you. Were going to take a closer look right now at where the l in you fire complex are caught complex fires are burning again this is a group of. Fires that does stretch across 5 counties and despite the distance as you can see their immune between some of the flames. Cal fire has chosen to designate the different fires has just one incident thats due to a lack of available resources. So thats how theyre treating it. And heres a look at the Evacuation Orders and warnings currently in effect in Sonoma County anybody living in the red area is under a mandatory Evacuation Order yellow area indicates an evacuation warning meaning that you should be ready to go at a moments notice. Sheriffs deputies will be in those areas. The warning areas if the evacuation is upgraded to let people know its time to go. And heres a look now at the evacuation map for napa county, the blue area here is where evacuations are mandatory, yellow is an evacuation warning. The map also shows the evacuation shelter where people can seek refuge, it said Cross Walk Community church. And video now of smoke up in the north bay just hours ago, this is shot with our quad copter 4 in rohnert park our drone you can see a thick sheet of smoke up there in the sky, its ominous is and lets go ahead and check on weather conditions up in the north bay and you know how theyre impacting the wildfires. Meteorologist Mabrisa Rodriguez. Here with our forecast map theresa Mother Nature helping us are hurting us definitely helping us right now begin grant tracking cooler temperatures right now in napa 72 degrees. Noticing a lot more moisture out there as well, thanks to those cooler temperatures, 61 relative humidity. And wind speeds remaining breezy but in the teens 12 mile per hour sustained winds soaker wind speeds out there right now for most of the bay area a lot calmer than earlier downtown San Francisco did see gusts upwards of about 35 Miles Per Hour just a few hours ago now tracking sustained winds at 23 Miles Per Hour. But with us once again will be an issue mainly for the north bay valleys and also along the coast of the San Francisco peninsula could see gusts upwards of about 30 Miles Per Hour or less, but it is that stronger sea breeze that is going to bring us the return of that marine layer tonight during the overnight hours cooling down temperatures and increasing that moisture content or during the overnight hours we can reach up to 60 of percent relative humidity for most of the north bay cut that in half though by friday afternoon still tracking a fairly warm and dry air mass out there, but it is going to benefit our coastal areas significantly an air quality is improving slightly along the coast as the winds shifting from the westnorthwest but por amounts for those of you in the east bay so youre noticing some pretty poor air quality tonight even through tomorrow as well some improvement for everyone else in the bay area dont forget we have a spare the air alert for the bay area now through sunday, so we still have a few more days to go limit Outdoor Activity as much as you can those of you with any pulmonary or respiratory issues in the coming days back to you grant vicki. Thank you bree says stay with us as our breaking News Coverage continues right here on pro 4 news at 8 oclock after the break well go live to Santa Cruz County where the what theyre calling this easy you complex fires are still burn welcome back to our continuing wildfire coverage another series of fires. Starting in san mateo that includes the Pescadero Beach area thats good arrow creek county park area the being hollow area the pescadero and san gregorio areas. The honda red barn Russian Ridge openspace skyline, the area and the langley hill region. Meanwhile Santa Cruz County these Evacuation Orders were issued about an hour ago, including scotts valley, residents west of highway 17 the Santa Cruz County area east of sadiq canyon west of highway 17 and south of highway 35 along with and this is significant. The you see santa cruz campus. Just hours ago cal fire tweeted out this video here of fires burning in the Santa Cruz Mountains and tonight we know that sees eu complex fires. Well there prompting even more evacuations. Harper scale on live for us in scotts valley, shes got an update on the situation, gayle. They can grant cal fire just wrapped up a press conference around 6 oclock in the main take a ways was of the evacuations you mentioned and the firefighting effort said today they actually had a good day. Aircraft wise where a smoke has been an issue all week long so they were able to put a helicopter fly helicopter in tankers, the drop water and we have video. New video today from cal fire just surveying the damage of this area. This is in north part of Santa Cruz County on highway one going past water creek and then a big creek lumber company. So i just given an off giving you an idea just where what is being impacted here that was a really difficult all week where they had to ground aircraft and so they could not even really survey the damage of as far as damage goes according to a press conference 50 structures have been they confirmed that, but believe there may be more. Theres also reports that up a state park has been destroyed and that would be that was tweeted by Santa Cruz County regarding a b a big basin state park that tweeted about 5 hours ago people saying they are devastated at this is a redwood preserve. The group thats been tweeting that so. Cal fire when not confirmed that information yet as there still, im trying to survey the damage here so this is just the so were getting in from but they expect to be more and as far as evacuations go on. Officials sheriffs deputies are leading those orders and they are just urging the public to take those warnings and here in scott valley at the base camp of cal fire where this area will remain but west of 17 is where the issues are by felt in the conditions today very smoky but good enough to fly aircraft that had to fight the fire. Heres some more from that the press conference on the firefighting effort. There preparations reeva made some advancements are getting some winds put in a suppressing Fire Protection life safety. The number one priority of structures throughout the incident. Where we looking at the weather change increase humidities that we will still have wind factor, well have the marine layer that will push and just a little bit more than they have in the previous few days. Carly the fire activity has been happening overnight due to the high winds. The good news is this particular fire has received a more personnel. There is about roughly 600 personnel on the ground now they say they have about a 1000 and thats Still Limited resources for a fire this big. Live in raleigh gayle ong kron 4 news. All right gail and we want to take a live look outside in downtown San Francisco. And as you can see here given the visibility issues and all the smoke you cannot see much tonight our meteorologist Mabrisa Rodriguez standing by with the forecast and also an update on some of the conditions for the firefighters were preset yeah, lets take a look at Current Conditions for this lightning fire. It is near the coast of monterey, so they are going to get a lot more moisture already tracking that cool sea breeze influence. And the return of some marine layer 68 degrees right now in monterey near that fire is burning relative humidity up to 73 so that is great especially for firefighters getting a lot more moisture out of that area compared. To us here in the north in the bay area was a little bit drier but wind speeds also calm in the single digits. So certainly going to help out firefighters, hopefully they really get the upper hand during the overnight hours because Mother Nature will really favor them with some patchy coastal drizzle and also them rich return of that marine layer with at low and high cloud cover temperatures out there right now cooling down into the 50s 60s along the coast, widespread 70s as we make our way inland 61 degrees for downtown San Francisco, mid 70s, right now for those of you in san jose and livermore and widespread mid 60s throughout the east bay shoreline with berkeley and oakland, currently at 67 degrees and in the low to mid 70s for most of the north bay with not at 72 degrees santa rosa degree warmer at 73 degrees, current wind speeds out there right now light and breezy in the double digits sustained winds around 25 Miles Per Hour less for downtown San Francisco in stormtracker 4 tracking that fog bank off the coast going to make its way inland though during the overnight hours bring us some patchy coastal drizzle as well but better clearing in lifting by friday but were still going to have or your friday afternoon smoke and haze live look outside from the south bay berry as she there as well with overnight lows in the low to mid 60s. Daytime highs cooling down 70s along the coast low 80s for the east bay shoreline midnineties as you make your way inland but cooler weather heading our way and then little change even 7 days from now back to you grant vicki. No rain in sight and also tracking very dry conditions could actually see some moisture from what is now hurricane genevieve making its way into the bay area on monday increasing temperatures to near triple digits, but could bring us also that threat of possible dry lightning if any pop up thunderstorms do form some going to keep an eye on that from the kron 4 Weather Center in the coming days back to you grant vicki all right every say we are following breaking news tonight is several wildfires are burning all across the bay area coming up next. Well hear from a woman who lost everything after tonight we continue to follow those wildfires devastating the bay area dozens of homes have been destroyed as cal fire struggles to get all the flames under control one reason theyre having so much trouble is because their resources are being stretched so thin. And earlier today we spoke with a woman from santa cruz who found out just today that she lost her home in the seas eu lightning complex fire and she believes that the lack of resources played a role. We were told that it was monkey fred fired off. Cal fire actually pulled out of our neighborhood last night before house burned because they decided it was unsafe and they wanted to volunteer to pull out. There are still people who are not on the volunteer team, but who are neighbors. Much i mean its a Small Community people know each other people care about each other people take the time to help each other during these times and there are people still trying to fight the fires there in pine ridge which is where it lands. Our lives. And theyre not getting the support they need from cal fire if were not going to have enough cal fire firemen. Then we need to have good bond 13. 8 we had a a fire i talk to them are met by or you dont buy or fire station. The volunteers came up to help because our monitors were defending the neighborhood and they defended the fire station. You can still see if you. Well you could see her in a public cant but for years you could see a perfect square all around our fire station because the delta fire team defended the fire station they protected it.
