Exceed half a million covid cases and we are way worse off this morning that we were when this whole thing blew up in march and just this morning top doctors are warning the u. S. Is in a new phase. In terms of battling the virus we have Meredith Wood now to explain. In cases, theyre theyre now on the watch list along with the rest of the bay area. So businesses like gyms places of worship hair salons shopping malls. All are closed as of now businesses can operate outside. And they can do curbside pickup, but thats it. The shops that offer tattoos and piercings that cannot operate outside at all they have to close down people we talked to say they understand its about safety. In the north bay, another condemned inmate and san quentin prison has died of covid orlando. Romero was on death row for multiple murders in the 90s. He died and becomes now the 21st san quentin inmate to die from complications of covid there have been protests in recent days to demand action as the outbreak continues at the prison. In San Francisco, a volunteer program that provides free deliveries to help restaurants is expanding the program has helped struggling thousands of dollars up to this point and kron fours Taylor Force Act gives us a closer look. Volunteers in north beach have now helped generate 50,000 from north beach restaurants over the past 3 months, its through a program called north beach delivers which started in april when the pandemic forced restaurants to move to a takeout delivery menu. The volunteer based program is free for customers in the business since restaurants save money that would otherwise go towards Delivery Service fees people are trying to support restaurants are ordering from them but oftentimes that does come at their expense because theres really high to the refuse in the middle of that equation is are trying to take that trying to make it a little bit more Community Job and any sonner created north beach delivers after watching his favorite Neighborhood Restaurants struggle, stay open.
