Even more so but temperatures will be warm with highs back into the mid 80s. Inland, 60s and 70s along the coast in bay talking more about your 4th of july weekend forecast still to come back to you. All right, thank you very much john we do want to begin this morning with the very latest on the coronavirus pandemic record breaking cases in the u. S. Have triggered reopening. Rollbacks in nearly 40 states in fact yesterday the u. S. Had the most infections recorded in a single day with california leading the way. We had more than 9700 cases reported texas saw 8,000 in total Johns HopkinsUniversity Reported more than 50,000 new cases across the country yesterday and that brings the total number of positive cases here in america to more than 2. 6 million with more than 128,000 people, dying and experts worry that if things dont turn around soon we could see eventually. 100,000 new cases reported each day. Heres a look at some of the numbers were seeing across the state again as i mentioned we did record the highest daily total yesterday of new cases. The total number stands now at 238,000 growing with more than 6 to 100 deaths, locally the bay area some more than 25,000 cases with more than 500 and 84 deaths now is not the time to reopen which is why the governor took action to slow the spread. Saying that theres a watch now on 19 counties and restaurants bars wineries and museums movie theaters. They have to remain close for 3 more weeks at least those county or where weve seen a huge spread they make up for a 72 . The states population in the bay area those counties include with a clampdown on lockdown solano and contra costa and santa clara counties. This doesnt mean restaurants shut down it means that were trying to take activities many activities as we can. These mixed activities is concentrated activities and move them outdoors california unlike some others. We were successful in bending that curve we will be successful. Again inventing this new curve. Outdoors 7 in california. We have great weather. So thats a plus in a lot of cities have been making at you know. Space in the streets so that people can be eaten handle drink. Outdoors you can still go to the beaches, the parking lots though at state beaches are closed for the Holiday Weekend. And that includes the one at crown memorial state beach in alameda. Kron 4 Sarah Stinson is live at pacifica state beach now. Those lots will be closed and this is something that has worked sarah in the past when theres nowhere to theres its hard to play. Yeah thats exactly right is going to say pacifica is white used to having their parking lot here closed down and thats whats its going to look like this Holiday Weekend as you can see surfers are parked here now and theyre hitting the beach but got todays the last day theyll be able to do that because it will be closed all weekend long. Take a look at video from memorial day weekend at other bay area beaches, including Half Moon Bay. You can see it was pretty packed people were wearing face masks and didnt keep a ton of distance despite the high risk we had in may its because of that behavior Half Moon Bay in pacifica city officials have decided to take it a step further by closing all city beaches and beach parking lot so youll be able to hit the beach in either of those cities. This is to deter people from gathering in massive groups on the beach this 4th of july weekend in turn reduce the Community Spread of the coronavirus the closures begin at sunrise friday and go until 9 monday morning in Half Moon Bay and pacifica San Mateo CountySheriffs Office will be patrolling for fireworks and dui Enforcement Police will also be present at all beach in coastal trails to stop people from parking there as well or using them as well we talked to the beach goer who is set up and upset to hear this is happening, especially on the 4th of july. The mass start helping, i mean people are staying home are helping. So i dont Things County look to stay on for for the july know nations holiday that thats going to stop everything either same. And ive talked to a lot of people cross the bay area. Its its it goes both ways what some people are just fed up and other people are understanding in wanting to put health first city leaders say beaches are closed parking lots are closed celebrate at home please San Mateo County is currently not on the governors watch list nothing is closing down thats already open besides beaches of course, however they are asking you county leaders here in san mateo are asking you to take precautions and please stay home so that that nothing else has to close down so that they dont become on the governors watch list. So this 4th of july is already looking a lot different, but now those who love to hit the beach when the weathers nice not to be able to do it this holiday daria chance at the same time the again the governor made it clear that if you are doing something be outdoors. Dont be indoors. Hes really concerned about eating and drinking indoors. Thank you sarah. As we head into the Holiday Weekend people are flocking in droves to one of the coronavirus testing sites in the east bay in fact the demand for test is growing so much that officials have been forced to close that side early in a recent days kron fours will tran alive at the csu east bay campus now to explain more about whats going on there. Well. You can see right behind me james theyve been here for several months, so you can see the infrastructure is in place and they were steady as she goes over the past couple of months, but then over the last 2 weeks with the increased cases of coronavirus and lets face it. The fear of people catching covid19 that they actually flocked to this location even more that they were overwhelmed. Let me show you some video of testing sites not only at cal state east bay hayward also other places across the bay area they were just fine they handled the load but on monday at this location. They actually turn people away 3 and a half hours before they were set to close because so many people turned out that they just turn people away saying we will definitely not get to you dont waste your time sitting in this long car line go away come back tomorrow, perhaps youll be tested on any given day before say the past couple of weeks chains and area. They were testing about 300 people every day. Now theyre at 500 possibly even more when this all started a couple of months ago the problem was the labs that they could not turned the tests around quickly enough that they were overwhelmed. Now the labs can handle as many tests as they can possibly get the only problem is theres limited supplies at these locations and the staff they need to go home that theyre actually staying later then their time and that is important because the longer youre exposed to it perhaps you will come down with covid19 as well so theyre monitoring the amount of hours that the workers are working. This is something that they could do james and darya moving forward right now is first come first serve but if it continues with this trend. They might do appointment only this opens up at 9 oclock this morning and schedule to close at 04 00pm would not be surprising to anybody if they close earlier meeting close meaning turning people away while they continue to work on the people already in line. James yeah, having people make an appointment surely smooth things out there just a little bit. Thank you. Well. Well in benicia a firefighter is in self quarantine right now after testing positive for covid19 the Benicia Fire Department says its working right now to find out where that firefighter became infected. We had some pretty surprising news coming from the Labor Department which is why futures trading has been strongly positive factor looking for more than 400 point jump. Once we begin trading today, the jobs report better than expected in for the month of june. The Labor Department reported that. 4. 8 million jobs were created the month of june economists really expecting 2. 9 so we had the. While alameda and hayward at 58 degrees currently little cooler in petaluma and santa rosa in the 40s. Winds will be a factor today only increasing later on breezy a step the coast and then up into the north bay so do watch that especially this morning as its making those cool 50s feel just a bit more brisk. Later on this afternoon. What we do have to expect is a slightly cooler one inland areas, the greatest cooldown down into the mid 80s today. The rest of your forecast. Still ahead james. Thank you john breaking overnight a large brush fire broke out in concord and witnesses say they heard fireworks going off. Right before the fire started trumpers reyna harvey live in concord with the latest developments from overnight james good morning. Im not only do they hear fireworks but they could also see a massive brush fire from miles away you can actually see the damage that left at large burn area on the side of a hill, but as you can see they have it all planned out right now were going to show you that fire from overnight take a look at those flames you can see why people were able to see it from so far because it was dark and you see just how large that area was it was also very windy. So this made it difficult for the firefighters trying to get that fire out and you see how steep it is appeal so they some trouble trying to put it out due to the weather conditions here in the area. Now again this is in the foothills just east of concord and the this fire continues to spread fast towards bay point when the fire first broke out off ever road near willow pass and highway 4. Now again we have the 4th of july just around the corner. And officials are saying lately theyve seen an uptick in grass fires. We all know that were in the throes of fire season. Its just now july first but weve been very busy since may with an almost fourfold increase in vegetation grass fire responses. Dozens of those particularly in the last 2 to 3 weeks. Have been caused by firework use them. All right youre hearing it from officials and many of those fires they have found out have been caused by fireworks again, although those witnesses say they heard fireworks go off they still have not determined an official cause of that grass fire overnight but with the holiday just a few days away we want to remind you to be safe and be mindful of that for now reporting here in concord we know harvey kron 4 news all right, thank you just about all the fireworks shows across the bay area have been canceled except for gilroy this year, the fireworks will fly at least a 100 feet higher then usual and should be visible for. About 2 and a half miles around. So to yeah so from all over the show starts at dusk on saturday, the usual places where people watch will be off limits. That includes parking lots few streets near gilroy high and the nearby you this creek levee gilroy is also one of the few places in the bay area where safe and sane fireworks are sold. As locals only find a way you cant go there and get him to come back to your place. So the best way to watch the fireworks is at home james in your favorite place on the count on the couch in your life where its safe not going to break a the big bay boom this is like a compilation of all of the best of the best from san diego, they do a big bay boom every year well that this so weve got all the highlights and. A tribute to the heroes in this pandemic as well yeah thats the big bay boom july 4 show right here on kron 4 at 09 00pm make sure you tune in for that. Now lets get to the latest on the coronavirus pandemic we have governor newsome taking action to slow the spread of the virus here in california. Fact is identified 19 counties in which businesses like restaurants and bars museums winery zoos, movie theaters. They all have to stay closed for at least 3 more weeks. Those counties are on the states Community Spread watch list and they make up about 72 of the states population here in the bay area. The counties affected include contra costa and santa clara counties. The governor also ordering parking lots at state beaches closed for the Holiday Weekend to discourage people from heading there in the north bay the governors order forced Indoor Dining to shut down in Solano County which up until yesterday was the only bay area county that was still allowing customers to eat inside. But now thats no longer the case for us dan kerman takes a closer look. That the loft wine bar and restaurant in the nation, the chairs are still stacked up. On top of the tables inside the restaurant. Thats because a lot of county is among those the state is shut down for Indoor Dining due to concerns over covid19 scared. Really watching restaurants and other Small Businesses go out of business in record numbers of never seen so many closures, the reason for the closure of Indoor Dining in Solano County is due to an uptick in covid19 hospitalizations weve had a doubling in the number in our daily hospital census. So we had been averaging. In the range of 15 to 20 People Per Day hospitalized and over the last several days weve been running 38 to 41. But Solano Countys Health Officer says that increase in hospitalizations as well as cases is not to do things like Indoor Dining the reason that were seeing the surge is mostly because of people having family gatherings and social gatherings on the weekend and in addition, we also have a pretty sizable outbreak among migrant farm workers. And now the officer says he is unsure shutting down Indoor Dining will have much of an impact on the numbers unless those social activity stop. Back at the loft wine bar and Restaurant Business has been good since Indoor Dining reopen 6 weeks ago. Now though just have to survive with patio dining only. We have more tables outside than we do in sight. But its actually going to impact us negatively. The Health Officer says bringing down those numbers is all reliant on how people behave in Solano County that means washing hands social distancing and wearing masks. Indonesia Dan Kerman Kron 4 news. And the east bay, the oakland zoo could have to close permanently because its been closed so long with coronavirus the zoo has been around since 1922. We have some breaking news want to take you back to washington where the president now is addressing camera says take a look at his announcement proves that our economy is roaring back its coming back extremely strong. We have some areas where were putting out. The flames of the fires and thats working out. Well were working very closely with governors. And i think its working out very well i think you see that shortly. In june we had a 2. 1 million leisure and hospitality jobs. 740,000 retail jobs. 568,000 education and health care jobs. 357,000 service jobs. These are all historic numbers. And 356,000 manufacturing jobs in manufacturing looks like its ready to really take off at a level that its never been before and a lot of that has to do with our trade policy because were bringing manufacturing back to our country. And these take a long time to get. The to get going and theyre now going. So these are historic numbers, im really happy when i see 356,000 manufacturing jobs and thats just a small number compared to what it will be soon because of our great trade deals. African American Workers really happily for me. Made historic gains. With 404,000 jobs added last month alone and thats a record. And the second largest jump. Will be. Last month and what we have if you add to too much together at 700,000 jobs for african American Workers. And in the last 2 months and thats a record by a lot. Likewise hispanic unemployment is up by 1. 5 million jobs, a record by a lot. Hispanic employment up 1. 5 million jobs. 3 million more women were employed. In the month of june. A record never had a number like that workers with a High School Education or less made the biggest rise of also. People that have just a High School Education. Or have less than a High School Education with unemployment, those without a high school diploma. Dropped a full 3. 3 Percentage Points thats the largest drop. In recorded history. 80 of Small Businesses are now open 80 . And we think were going to have some very good numbers in the coming months because others are opening. And especially as we put the flame out getting rid of the flame happening. New Business Applications have doubled since late. March thats a number that is not even thinkable to achieve this early. Into a pandemic. The latest science and manufacturing report rose 10 Percentage Points with new orders jumping a remarkable 25 Percentage Points or record. Consumer confidence, which is great. And its a great number to me because that means confidence is really good if you dont have good Consumer Confidence. Its like life if you dont have confidence youre not going to do very well. Consumer confidence has risen 12 points since april. And 6 months of job expectations at the all time an all time high. So think of that for second with all we go through. With all of the. Trials and tribulations that we read about every night much of it totally fake news fortunately. And if the consumer didnt get it you would have. Good Consumer Confidence, we have Consumer Confidence has risen 12 points since april. An all time high think of that. Retail sales surge and its on us to start issuing 18 so retail sales went up. And astonishing 18 in may. Thats the largest increase in the history of our country. Thats a crew tremendous number. 18 the number of and what it means to me is jobs. The number of unemployed. Americans reentering the again youre watching live video here from the white house says the president is addressing. The new jobs report numbers that came out this morning a fairly rosy picture well have to wait and see if they hold up given the fact that we look like the look to have a second surge of coronavirus beginning to really cripple some parts of the country with a lot of states beginning to pull back roll back some of their reopening plans. And that certainly will affect businesses going forward, so well have to wait to see what happens.
