Is showing about 179,000 deaths by october first as i said thats 58,000 more than were seeing right now could currently stands at 121,000 people who have died of the coronavirus across our country and remember these are all projections created by their computer models which we have closely been monitoring and referring to since the beginning of the pandemic at one point the chart showed a prediction. Of the death toll exceeding 200,000 people so it has gone down, but its also been fluctuating up and down according to their model in california 11,600 people are projected to die of the coronavirus. On contra loma Boulevard Police say that a store employee caught the man trying to steal so ething from the store. The employee confronted the man and the man attacked him. Now during the fight the attackers stopped breathing and died at the scene still not clear if he died because of the fight or another medical condition store employee was taken to the hospital he was treated for injuries that he received during that fight. A developing story were following this thursday morning, a woman accused of intentionally coughing on a baby in the south bay works for a bay area School District. It happened at a yogurtland on connell road in san jose women say a police say that the coughing woman. Well apparently upset that the mom was not following proper social distancing guidelines. So while waiting for her order she coughed on the womans baby. The oak grove School District in san jose released a statement saying that its aware of the incident allegedly involving one of their employees. The statement also says that the unidentified worker is currently off of work. And not providing services to students. The district says its cooperating with the San Jose Police department. Now to the east bay where hospitals are seen an increase in covid19 patients this week compared to last week. Governor newsom says california is hoping to speed up the release of thousands of inmates at california state prisons because of the coronavirus kron fours will tran is live at san quentin this morning. He has all the details for us well. Marty Governor Newsom says prisons throughout california there are a hotbed for coronavirus and its been on his mind for quite some time and thats why he wants to release low risk inmates want to get that out there immediately lowrisk inmates who were not convicted of any Violent Crimes, including Domestic Violence, a lot of people are fearful of the prisoners being possibly release in this particular case. He says they are close to their release state anyway send quinton as 3700 inmates and thats 600 more inmates than they can possibly handle in a Perfect World before the pandemic he says theyre hot spots and he has to let them out to create room within the prison system just to give you some perspective right now in california throughout the prison system theyre dealing with approximately 3800 cases of coronavirus at san quentin alone. 464 inmates came came down with coronavirus and those places where they can keep the prisoners isolated. Well those places within the prison are quickly filling up a ninos the cases continue to rise as specially if they dont act immediately and thats what the governor said that he would like those inmates to be released by july first possibly even sooner and a lot of legal experts theyre on board with this saying unless this is contained and really minimize the population within the prison system. This place could be extremely dangerous especially with a lot of people visiting their prisoners and they can also risk dying within the prisons themselves and thats why the governor would like to act on this again i just want to reiterate a lot of people reached out to me on social media saying are we talking about violent offenders in this particular case not violent offenders lowrisk inmates again not convicted of any violence including Domestic Violence and no they will not be released and walk throughout the community instead they will be checked out to make sure they they dont have coronavirus in if they are possibly exposed to somebody they will be quarantined for 14 days make sure that they dont have any symptoms and then they can resume their lives party all right well very controversial decision. Well to the east bay now the Oakland City Council is defunding its Police Department a portion of the million annual budget will be redirected at invested an alternative Public Safety resources and programs. The revised budget is the work of the City Councils equity caucus led by finance committee chair. Lynette Gibson Mcelhaney she says give input giving police more time to respond to Violent Crime is the aim of the new budget. What we want to do is to get some better policing on the serious and significant fines murder, trafficking kidnapping. Rate. And relieve the department of any of the things that are better suited for social workers that are better suited for. But they are up as are better syria. The mayor says his plans reflect his commitment to reforming the Police Department without defunding it. I believe the overwhelming majority of our residents. Want us to continue funding the police because they want Police Officers to show up particularly in communities that are heavily him by crime. Our residents are overwhelmingly telling us we want more police. Well this move comes as protesters call to defund the Police Department amid the outrage over Police Brutality across the country.
