All right. Thank you well check back with you a little later. Now lets go ahead get a check of the Weather Forecast for this thursday mornings looks beautiful as we start the day jet dave yeah, it is a good morning. A there marty good morning everybody and how about this to the shot from u c berkeley getting some color and their 2 little bit of orange is off to the distance as the sun joins us behind our shoulders from this Vantage Point up over the east bay hills how we doing temperature wise well a little bit of a variety we have 59 conquered 66 for antioch 50s up to the north bay, although no bottles of 48 56 San Francisco, 60 san jose. We compare this with 24 hours ago and notice how chilly it well chilly excuse me how much colder it is up to fairfield places like that where weve been talking about the red flag warning. Thats because of the dry air. You have dry air you take away the winds temperatures go a little bit of a freefall at night you may recall the winter months well be talking about a freeze watch or warning or frost advisory in windshield in areas because dry air allows temperatures to go falling like that, but they also climb nicely too with dry air as well so we have calm conditions over most of the real estate, a little bit of a minor breeze up there to the north bay again back to that red flag warning covering Solano County thats until 1 oclock although dry air will prevail elsewhere from the on that so today were going 82 by 10 oclock by one 94 is can temperatures continue to climb those inland valleys to the middle to upper 90s repeat performance expected on sunday well get into that coming up in a bit back to you. And today, San Mateo County is moving into the next phase of reopening which allows Indoor Dining hair salons and gyms the move comes after the county received permission from the state earlier this week. Supervisor david canepa says that these businesses are allowed to resume as long as they have a safety plan in place and proper ppe for employees and customers. Barber shop owner derek texan has been anxiously awaiting this moment. And for like the last 3 months so yeah, im next im super excited to be under 10 people. Appointments only there will be no more waiting area for clients so or clients yet actually need them to be inside their and will give them a texts or phone call it know that you know theyre ready to come in. San francisco is one of the slower counties to reopen the city is now seeking approval from the state to allow San Francisco to dictate which businesses fall into each stage of reopening. The goal is to allow bars to reopen sooner than the original target date which was mid august. Well happening today after a careful planning, San Francisco staple pier 39 will officially reopen is always busy lots of fun. There lets check in with kron fours will tran who is live at the pier with more good morning. Well. Robin come down again some clam chowder at 11 oclock in the morning, its been shut down for 3 months, but it is ready to roll. We live in a whole new world there are restrictions you need to know let me step out of the way and help you navigate the new world of pier 39 you see those Security Guards, they are basically turnstiles they will keep and i out on the number of people who will come down to this location if it gets too busy. They will tell you to wait outside they want to limit the amount of people inside because of social distance and of course he come down here with all those people social distance or not you still have to wear a mask, you see all those restaurants and stores, theres a bubble gum shrimp right there. What they are doing. Theyre moving a lot of their tables from the inside to outside because they feel its safer to eat outside of course than inside so youll be doing that, but at least youll have the dying in experience. Then they have changed the hours instead of all day. What were use to instead it will be at 11 oclock in the morning until 6 oclock in the evening. It will shut down and spend the other hours. Cleaning this place to make sure that when it opens up the it is ready to roll and safe of course one of the big attractions at pier 39 or the sea lions, which you only a sevens well zoom in its right back there the sun is glistening on that particular area. Well they will have a Security Guard there as well so they will follow you through one location and the goal there is same as here to make sure that not too many people are crowded into such a small space then you can take pictures with the sea lions and then you can leave and then its reopen the good news is. Its not shut down any more right for 3 months a lot of tourists came to San Francisco without the pleasure thats coming down to the world famous Fishermans Wharf and the businesses here. They could sure use or help because half of the businesses are locally owned family or ian said so they werent padded by a corporation, its all of them. And now all they need is you come on come on down robin ill buy you a bowl of clam chowder you had me at clam chowder im on my way marty can handle the rest probably a good time for you to bank you will. Well the bay area now has more than 18,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus and more than 500 deaths, lets take a look at the latest numbers that are broken down by county. Alameda county still of the most cases, the bay area with more than 4500 the pandemic though has been deadlier in Santa Clara County which has 151 deaths. We have a full list broken down by city and county in the bay area. You can take a look at it at our website at kron 4 dot com. Also happening today, the great resort and casino would be reopening after a monthslong closure because of the pandemic the company says it made a lot of changes, including the frequent cleanings of all public spaces, including gaming and dining areas. Guests and employees will have their temperatures checked before they enter the building and the spa hotel pool and valleys service all temporarily suspended. We have a lot more details on the reopening on our website at kron 4 dot com. Now to a developing story that were following for you this morning out of Oakland Police are investigating a possible hate crime. After a woman found a noose hanging in a tree at Lake Merritt Police say they found 5 roads in the trees he see video of it here public works has since removed them Portia Freeman was the woman who spotted the news wednesday and since then a lot of controversy has surrounded the origin of the rope. One person came forward and told police that he put them up for exercise months ago. Lets hear from the bear. That is their first second and i want to get a closer really looking at what i think im looking at information came in that this was exercise equipment. Some of it may have but some of it absolutely was not. We have to start with the assumption that these are hate crimes. We cannot take these actions lightly. We have to take them seriously. And again if theyre proven not to be that will then exonerate that person but that does not exonerate the fact that we cannot have symbols in our public spaces. Well police are investigating and they have assigned extra patrols to the lake they also say theyve contacted the fbi so it can investigate as well. Now we head to the north bay, the effort to remove a statue of surf and for sir Francis Drake and his name from all public spaces is growing. Hundreds of people taking to the streets in a demonstration yesterday. The chp had to block the entrance to eastbound 5. 80 to keep demonstrators from getting onto the freeway. The group also called for police funds to be redirected to other services, protesters say drake was a slave trader and should not be honored. And sisters of native americans who once lived here say that more needs to be done to honor them. Because this movement. That statue. I got changed and for so many people coming over the bridge is the first thing they see when they come into moran. They see a giant man with the flag has soared who sold we want to put an end to that. Well a large for City Councils working with marine county along with leaders from fair fight fairfax ross in san anselmo all of them looking into the possibility of renaming sir Francis Drake boulevard. Still ahead this morning inmate advocacy groups say that they are urging the state to release some prisoners after San Quentin State Prison sees a spike in coronavirus cases. Plus the socalled Boogaloo Movement is getting a lot of attention now that a suspected cop killer has been tied to that movement. Well explain what its all about. And after the break bay area labor unions calling on the city of oakland to defund its Police Department asking leaders to instead invest in i wanted my hepatitis c gone. I put off treating mine. Morning welcome back to the kron 4 morning news. Were taking a live look outside walnut creek this time around says thats going to be pretty toasty today right day looking for big warm up you got that right right marty and well probably repeat that again after backtracking a little bit tomorrow and saturday. On the fathers day on sunday live shot coming in for you from the golden gate, little bit of a minor breeze going on a little haze that we see too and oh yes, a barge going out or something and take the groceries out with it. But dont forget its the cold water thats in place there so whatever moisture we have is kind of condensing back on to that cold bay water High Pressure still in control for today, its going to wane its affects a little bit as we get into tomorrow and saturday. Theres the offshore winds kind of out of the north. Theyre not particularly very strong we dont see them very strong even though as a technicality we still have that red flag warning for Solano County. Temperatures 66 now at this hour in iraq 59 going on for concord 57 livermore got to upper 40s to lower 50s up in the north bay for now just dont forget. The sun is just starting its progress 64 san jose and 56 for San Francisco. All right, lets get to the moisture levels which are going to fall today thats typical anyway you get the atmospheric mixing drier air aloft. All that kind of business but also you have warmer temperatures so the relative humidity starts to drop off with that. So for today its going to be a hot steam are going on thats what steamer hot one going on for those inland valleys, if you do have an evaporative cooler by the way thats better than a c youll save on the electric bills if you do have it but along the coast, theres the minor impact of the marine layer that makes an appearance tonight you can see it floods the bay overnight up in the north a little bit there and across the east bay shoreline quickly dissipates friday. But look at what happens friday night into saturday it spills across the delta into the sacramento valley. So it looks like at that point is kind of business as usual by saturday until we warm back up again on sunday. So comes together like this a lot of county has until 1 oclock the red flag warning drier still there. Then this weekend my are calling on saturday. Mid to upper 90s return on sunday, then for next week, its sunny warm or hot 80s and 90s mixture were kind of in seasonality if not a little bit above that but nothing in terms of quite a heat spike that weve experienced 79 San Francisco, 85 for oakland. And san jose at 93. But across the wider bay, the middle upper 90s could be felt in the far east bay and up to the north bay as well look at how the reds are encroaching even portions of the southern peninsula as well. But the only place thats kind of spared is along the coastal regions just a quick snapshot of that 70 forecast how we do with all this or we drop off ever so slightly getting into saturday first day of summer by the way then for dads day looks like were warming back up again into next week a mixture of summer and spring. Robin whats going on area bridges and roads well, the back of that weve been waiting for its finally here i told you by the 6 oclock hour we start to see traffic stacking up and thats exactly whats happening. Its not a bad. A trip into San Francisco. And we really just consider this a minor weight, but it is slow and go from west grand right through the metering lights heading up the incline and then after that you start to see traffic that out so busy into San Francisco. Heres a live look at 92 another busy commute it started off with crowding in the 4 oclock hour and thats going to continue for several more hours. But no problems here leaving hayward once you make it to the peninsula. It will get a little heavy as you emerge from wests 92 over to north one oh one into san mateo i dont see anything posted there but its going to be us little slow from 92 up to 3rd keep that in mind. Well check more traffic coming up a little bit later marty all right robin thank you very labor unions are calling on the city of oakland to defund its Police Department demonstrators gathered outside Oakland Police Officers Association headquarters on wednesday. Theyre demanding changes in the Oakland Police departments budget. The opd these annual budget is about million thats a budget Union Members say needs to change. Our Labor Movement is about fighting for the common good and making sure that the voices of the unheard or heard we need to do is invest in our communities and make sure that theyre able to thrive. In response to wednesdays protest. The Police Officers union released this statement saying that Oakland Police officers respect labor workers and then they listed examples of the departments such as implicit bias training and implementing reforms in the use of force. But City Council Member and Nikki Fortunato told kron 4 shes proposing that oakland redirect at least 25 million of its Police Budget into community programs. Oakland mayor libby shaft tells kron 4 the city proposed budget cuts 5 million from opd and as millions of dollars to Homeless Services Affordable Housing and job training. The California Department of corrections and rehabilitation says San Quentin State Prisons covid19 testing rate for inmates is about 3 times the state and National Testing rates. They need more pp protective equipment and they need more. Theyre going to have campus and students are going to students on campus about 2 days out of the week and then the other days remote. Now while students are on campus you might want to know how theyre going to be protecting them. They want to make sure that students are going to be wearing mask along with social distance scene now. They also are saying that theyre going to put in strict sanitation guidelines, so that could mean students are required to wash their hands, a certain number. To be returned by sunday. Were taking a live shot down in the south bay here at san jose state from the logical department there pretty clear skies off towards the distance sfo. No delays happening this morning. Nice shot there as well this morning. Temperatures pretty pleasant across most of the bay we have 66 antioch 59 for conquered 57 for livermore east bay shoreline, lower 60s and were going to see warming happening even there. Today come compared to what weve been seeing lower 50s up in the north bay 58 for San Francisco in 64, san jose just a quick check into the winds theyre not doing much of anything fairly calm Solano County still looking at that red flag warning as a precaution because the air even in the east bay is all fairly dry. And some of these valleys up in the north bay to speak of the red across the Central Valley where in the mid to upper 90s for highs today fresno at 95. Also for sacramento 76 for San Francisco and lower 70s cover much of southern california. All right the 4 zone forecast today 79 San Francisco Marina District about 73, 75 days city pacific at 7376 going on for Half Moon Bay. For the northern end of the peninsula upper 70s 81 for millbrae 85 for Burlingame Don of the south some lower 90s scratching and here looks like palo alto at 9392 for redwood city and the south bay 93 san Jose Morgan Hill at 9493 milpitas and also cupertino but some 90s to be found also along the east bay, shore line union city 89, but 90 hayward in fremont tri valley, youre looking at mid 90s, dublin, 93 up to walnut creek at 96 with conquered at 97. Youll probably see that again on sunday after a little bit of a break for the next 2 days after that 84 berkeley, 86 for richmond up to the north bay, 82 for 94 for napa 97 for sonoma with 97 also for fairfield and jumping up here to santa rosa at 97 with more 90s heading down south Stinson Beach by the way its 65 be cool spot, 79 4 point rate so there you have it on the 7 day forecast. Were drop ever so slightly for a couple of days spike again for sunday on dads day and then to next weekend kind of a mixture of upper 80s lower 90s, mixing things up for the bay bridges and roads rob whats going on. Its pretty busy and slow on 80 into San Francisco check out this back up at the bay bridge toll plaza just creeping along up already stacked up from west grand and then west of Treasure Island theres a large optic in the road blocking the lane so thats causing a slowdown too between the tunnel and mid span. So you have to separate slowdowns heading into San Francisco this morning, heres 92, its still crowded, but its not bad and easy 12 minutes to the peninsula. And then just a really quick peak at highway 4 we have a crash thats wrapping up on the eastbound side and pass and concord but it added to the westbound backup so its pretty jammed up passing the pittsburg bay point bart station. Approaching the top of the hill there as you leave a point approaching a conquered. Thats route 29 minutes so far westbound from one 60 out to 2. 42 well check more slow downs coming up a little bit later right all right robin.
