Also not working placed under quarantine bart has been dealing with a lot of problems including drastic drop in ridership and theyve already had to. Employees come down with covid19 but the good part about that is they were not frontline workers and this case. This was a frontline worker, although bart said this worker had masks and gloves on every time this person went to work, but did not have direct contact with the public or at least all the time we do know that barred is trying its best to make sure that the writers are safes or if youre hopping on bart according to the agency you should be ok because they have taken steps daily to make sure that their trains are disinfected they use a disinfectant fog every 24 hours on the trains. They also wipe down the trains in the heavily used areas so theyre using the fog mechanism as well as physically gone through that area as far as how this employee came down with covid19 that either is not the release just dont know at this particular time. But we do know that they discovered this on sunday and this person was taken offline immediately and then they just released the information on tuesday afternoon. Barr is dealing with a lot of problems the trains are not running as frequently as they used to because ridership is down and in a counterintuitive way because ridership is down perhaps that do not expose more people to covid19 back to you yeah that is one ray of good news out of this whole story, thanks a lot. This comes after protesters, activists and even city officials called for defunding Police Department following the death of george floyd supporters arguing that millions of dollars used on policing communities of color could be put to better use, San Francisco chief bill scott says hes open to that idea. Im not seeing the fine and deconstruct Police Departments. What im saying is. We can be a part of something. New courageous and innovative also understand when i pull off his uniform. This expected to clear out here in the next hour or so, but its just a lingering a little bit here. Were going to have a stronger effort probably tomorrow morning now. The hint that things are starting to week weekend because we get into friday, well have some onshore winds working their magic by that point mid 70s already in the far east bay 74 livermore mid 60s lining up the east bay shoreline you can see the green here indicating some relatively cooler air compared to some milder air off to some of the inland valleys already now speaking of which in future cast for comes of fog overnight bush, theyre a little bit greeting us tomorrow morning. And looks like well get a little bit of cloud cover trying to work in here by the mid Morning Hours tomorrow thats not thats before we really start seeing temperatures change on us that will happen as we get into friday and theres the little threat of some light rain showers and our friday morning dont forget we have the onshore winds working here. All of that in tandem to bring down temperatures speaking of which lets get to those winds today, the uptick on winds thats because of inland heating somewhat typical we see that a lot in the summer and then this is whats being driven by our system out on the pacific of the change of the guard. And then on the other side of everything a very pleasant weekend. It looks looks like for us until we get until early next week all right, lets go and check out weve got going on here, its sunny hot inland. Got a tease for the bay 90s going on cook in there and well see that probably tomorrow a little bit but chipping away at it protect it from the standpoint of the bay and co points to the west near the coast. For the weekend mostly sunny, warm to pleasant depending on your perspective there 90s inland by early next week. So we snap back real quickly, but all in all with all of this education occurring that will be before the weekend so have a nice weekend in store with all of us 75 on San Francisco 82 for open 91 san jose, but a lot of locations in the south bay. Theres plenty of 90s to dish out for today, 86 for fremont 85 meanwhile for hayward inland you see those middle 90s at work may not be as lofty tomorrow but expect plenty of 90s still tomorrow there and even up in some of those valleys up in the north bay but for today, well be checking out the 4 zone forecast coming up a little bit later on marty back to you all right dave. And were also taking a live look outside traffic moving smoothly through the toll plaza at the bay bridge i was backed up a while ago but things looking pretty good now and whether you cant beat it will be right back. Good morning, welcome back to fund the police is a rallying cry that were hearing from protesters who are demanding changes in policing. But what does it really mean. Our washington dc correspondent joe khaleel spoke to lawmakers about how they interpret that movement. As calls to defund the police grow louder democrat lawmakers say the message is often misinterpreted the message ynez that we need to invest more. And things like housing and Workforce Development and education and theres too much money going into. Some of some of the police see representative Nanette Barragan says some cities overspend on policing at the expense of other Important Community investments. She says some of that spending should be reconsidered we need to also continue to work. To invest in our communities to create opportunities. And making sure that there is equal access for all senator Kamala Harris says more Community Investment is a more efficient way to make neighborhoods safer. We have confuse. Having safe communities with hiring more cops on the street. Well legislation speaks for itself congressman Hakeem Jeffries says in the Democrats Police reform package, theres nothing about abolishing or Defunding Police but he says the white house may tie democrats to it the president will endeavor to weaponize because he is desperate at this moment, this is extraordinary this is rolling back the protective layers that protect. Americans in their homes in their places of business White House Press secretary Kayleigh Mcenany says defunding the police does take essential resources away from Law Enforcement that means cutting of police and these reducing Police Departments that means defunding Police Department is not getting rid of them entirely mcenany says theres no interpretation of defunding.
