We even some people fighting over items that they had stole those stores were ransacked we know lululemon was also one of the stores affected. Along the creek bart station even close during this time it was quite a lot of chaos as people were heading into Broadway Plaza, Looting Stores breaking into the windows a Police Obviously showed up quickly and when they got here they saw people running already a little too late because people were on the move with the items they had still police were marching down main street heading towards Broadway Plaza and lou lemon as i said had been looted quite terribly they had a lot of items stolen. A lot of stores just completely ransacked is a full blown right said one person, walking in walnut creek that we talked to one person said that it just looked him down here, she said one woman told us theres about a 100 people that had a breached a number of stores and that is what the story was down here walnut creek today were going to be looking at the damage thats going to be the main story trying to see which businesses remain lee affected so hopefully. I can get inside their talk with thats the goal of her target what im about the couple blocks from was also broken people even broke through the barricades and threw the caution tape. Also breaking overnight a walmart was on fire after reports of looting in san leandro that stores on davis street happened about 10 oclock last night. Firefighters say that propane tanks caught fire and exploded inside the store. Flames were seen shooting through the roof of the building fortunately, no one was injured in the fire. According to firefighters looters went through the store last night this video shows items knocked off shelves and scattered on the floor. Firefighters are working to find the cause of the fire. And take a look at this video in san carlos of kron 4 viewer sent us this video saying that his Jewelry Store had been looted. This is on laurel street in san carlos you can see the broken windows, the display cases as well, the owner tells us no one was injured, but looters didnt get get away with some merchandise. And in San Francisco protests continued on sunday where stores were vandalized and looted looted. Kron fours will tran live on Market Street this morning with a look at the damage there. Well. Marty heres what you need to know the curfew just lifted it expired at 5 oclock this morning. And i was driving up and down Market Street for the past 90 minutes or so Police Officers. Were certainly patrolling the area they had their lights on just to make sure that their presence was known a lot of damage along Market Street look over my shoulder there this is just one slice of Market Street, it looks just like this windows are boarded out there is graffiti up and down Market Street. A lot of windows were broken a lot of windows were boarded up to prevent them from breaking let me show you video of what happened when San Francisco mayor london breed declared a state of emergency because she did not want looting in the overnight hours or more chaos. There was one speaker saying the last few words of George Floyds life to the crowd for the most part it was peaceful and then mayor london breed declared that state of emergency that started 8 oclock at night that declared that Unlawful Assembly needs to be broken up, but a lot of people did not comply its important to know that a lot of people did but a lot of others didnt instead this is what happened after the Police Officer started breaking up the crowd specifically in the Civic Center Area we do know that there was some looting going on some bottles thrown at Police Officers in the overnight hours the very latest number that they gave us from the San Francisco Police Department 80 people were arrested in a lot of them were juveniles and they were just tagged pretty much their names and their address taken from them and then released so they can mark where they went and what happened to them. But there are others when they went through their items they found weapons they found molotov cocktail in one instance, there were trash bins that were lit on fire. But for the most part according to the San Francisco Police Department if remained relatively peaceful despite the loud outbursts of violence from here and there but for the most part they were pleased by what happened by the way this curfew is in place indefinitely. We do know that at 10 oclock this morning, the San Francisco Police Department will hold a News Conference to let the public know what would they will do moving forward and then San Francisco mayor london breed she will also have a News Conference one hour later. She will talk about whats going to happen as well citywide and she will be joined by actor and activist jamie foxx she has also weighed in on this controversy. A number black men have been killed on armed over the last few years weve seen protests but nothing like this what are you a trip attribute this activity to why this death with mister floyd is different. Thank you have a deep and i cant separate this from the moment, were still in the middle of a Global Pandemic and its easy to forget that because everything is going on in the news right now. But people are jobless. They are so many people are sick. Many people are seeing that people are pretty die and especially the black and brown communities they hit harder by this Global Pandemic and so in the midst of this theres this feeling of like we cant even get a break from racism in the middle of a Global Pandemic i think it you can separate this from the from the pandemic. Come out im curious about your thoughts about the white interaction in all of this said and it goes both ways as you know. There are a lot of white people participating in this protest. Lot of white people being blamed for some of the violence and the looting. A lot of white people supporting the cause a lot of white people may be some skeptics and certainly there are still races out there as we all know, im just wondering from your perspective. What can a white person do for you in this cause that you think is positive that can make a difference. I first thing they need to start thinking about theyre doing it for themselves structural and institutional racism hurts all of us is hurt black people the hardest hits us. The hardest. So i think they need to stop thinking about doing something for the black community and actually only a more equitable and just society a more a society where everyone has access to education and health care and the criminal Justice System is is it is as equity and it is better for all of us anyway but to stop getting caught up in what can i do for black people or to help them it at the i would say is that we also have to in the bay area theres a long history of protesting we know not every white person so to the protests in the same way we can all recognize those people when they show up we had protests in Downtown Berkeley a few years ago and there are white people stopping the black bloc anarchists from breaking into the trader joes so i think if you really want if you can get out there if you thought youd be safe out there which i think thats key again when the move a Global Pandemic then get out there and use your whiteness to stop these other white peoples user white is between those white people and the damage that do. Thank you dave our top story that were following for you this half hour protests continue throughout the night in cities all across the country dozens of cities impose curfews some declared states of emergency and all of this of course part by last weeks killing of george floyd while he was in Police Custody. Camila bernal is in minneapolis. She has the latest for us. A much more peaceful and less violent night here in minneapolis and even things this morning remain calm. I want to show you some of the people here at the intersection or george floyd had that horrific encounter with police some of them are sitting down some of them are kneeling but the idea is not only to keep things peaceful but to keep the focus on george floyd and not on the violence. It was another night of protests and unrest in cities across the country with incidents of violence from new york city to los angeles went for the ball has been knocked down that was no more that i dont have a voice anymore all sparked by the killing of 46 yearold george floyd who died in Police Custody, pleading for his life. As an officer in ad at least 40 cities have enacted nighttime curfews and more than a dozen states have deployed the national but not all demonstrations have been violent in minneapolis demonstrators, gathering at the intersection where 400 families to remember had the Minneapolis Police chief also took a knee at the site and acknowledge police needs to do better. Community members need to know that the men and women that put this badge on that they are doing so in service to them something they should not and they should not have to doubt they shouldnt have to the integrity in and if theyre going to be treated in a compassionate and professional way. And the police chief also saying that all 4 of those officers bear the same responsibility. She says she too is outraged. But what happened to george floor that it was hard for her to watch the video but she saw what was spiraling out of control that she declared a state of emergency claiming that they needed to restore order and thats where the curfew started at 8 oclock last night and went into in effect until 5 oclock this morning. So now the curfew has been lifted as far as the overnight hours, but it has been extended indefinitely. Now after 8 oclock. Police officers did move in declaring it an Unlawful Assembly telling the protesters. They had to go home and for the most part many protesters did however there were other protesters who refused to comply they move throughout San Francisco. They actually a one point even try to make their way on to the bay bridge, San Francisco Police Officers moved in predominantly in the Civic Center Area where they arrested 80 people a lot of them were juveniles and they got their names and their addresses and then released. However, there were trash bins set on fire items thrown at Police Officers and in some cases party they actually went in. Look throughout their their backpacks and they saw weapons including molotov cocktail in one particular incident, one officer was injured, but no major injuries to that particular officer, they actually had to call in about 200 other Police Officers and the nearby area for mutual aid just to help San Francisco and San Francisco county keep the peace in the overnight hours mayor london breed said the california National Guard this actually on standby should they need to call them in i got to let you know despite the curfew in place if you are declared an essential worker. You are allowed to break curfew so to speak and work in the overnight hours. But you can clearly see marty right here. But a month later he died in a california hospital after testing positive for coronavirus. Longs family says the cruise line and its Parent Company should have known that a passenger on the ships previous voyage had coronavirus wong strip on the grants prince grand princess ended up docking at the port of oakland back on march 9 a total of 131 people on the ship tested positive for the coronavirus and 5 died while his wife also contracted covid19 but recovered the lawsuit is one of roughly a dozen filed by grand princess passengers and their families.
