A lot of stores just completely ransacked is a full blown right said one person, walking in walnut creek that we talked to one person said that it just looked him down here, she said one woman told us theres about a 100 people that had a breached a number of stores and that is what the story was down here walnut creek today were going to be looking at the damage thats going to be the main story trying to see which businesses remain lee affected so hopefully. And in San Francisco protests continued on sunday where stores were vandalized and looted looted. Kron fours will tran live on Market Street this morning with a look at the damage there. Well. Marty heres what you need to know the curfew just lifted it expired at 5 oclock this morning. And i was driving up and down Market Street for the past 90 minutes or so Police Officers. Were certainly patrolling the area they had their lights on just to make sure that their presence was known a lot of damage along Market Street look over my shoulder there this is just one slice of Market Street, it looks just like this windows are boarded out there is graffiti up and down Market Street. A lot of windows were broken a lot of windows were boarded up to prevent them from breaking let me show you video of what happened when San Francisco mayor london breed declared a state of emergency because she did not want looting in the overnight hours or more chaos. We do know that over the weekend. Thousands of people went to civic center they went to city hall as well they were in front, chanting George Floyds name and they also spend about 9 minutes in silence that has approximately the time that officer kept his knee on George Floyds neck. There was one speaker saying the last few words of George Floyds life to the crowd for the most part it was peaceful and then mayor london breed declared that state of emergency that started 8 oclock at night that declared that Unlawful Assembly needs to be broken up, but a lot of people did not comply its important to know that a lot of people did but a lot of others didnt instead this is what happened after the Police Officer started breaking up the crowd specifically in the Civic Center Area we do know that there was some looting going on some bottles thrown at Police Officers in the overnight hours the very latest number that they gave us from the San Francisco Police Department 80 people were arrested in a lot of them were juveniles and they were just tagged pretty much their names and their address taken from them and then released so they can mark where they went and what happened to them. But there are others when they went through their items they found weapons they found molotov cocktail in one instance, there were trash bins that were lit on fire. But for the most part according to the San Francisco Police Department if remained relatively peaceful despite the loud outbursts of violence from here and there but for the most part they were pleased by what happened by the way this curfew is in place indefinitely. We do know that at 10 oclock this morning, the San Francisco Police Department will hold a News Conference to let the public know what would they will do moving forward and then San Francisco mayor london breed she will also have a News Conference one hour later. She will talk about whats going to happen as well citywide and she will be joined by actor and activist jamie foxx she has also weighed in on this controversy. She says as she stands in support of the protesters that shes outraged by what happened to george floyd but she says she will not let the city of San Francisco barry. Back to you. Extremely upset. Because unfortunately with some of the vandals they thought this was a game. They thought this was funny. And this is not funny. To damage property. To set fires that could lead to someone elses death. And as you can clearly hear that San Francisco mayor london breed, shes highly upset by this and a lot of protesters actually went to our house. They were chanting in front of ed we are not hearing of any damage to her location as well and despite her throwing support to the movement about what happened in minneapolis. But again she says she has a job to do and that job is to protect City Property lives in San Francisco. We will continue to monitor the situation to what you need to know right now is San Francisco Police Officers are not enforcing the curfew as it lifted about 6 minutes ago, but again this curfew is indefinite back to you. All right well, thanks a lot for that report on Market Street in San Francisco robin. Well to the peninsula. We have kind of a mild day today and probably by the time robin does or afternoon run will be having more sunshine at work right now were fighting to a little bit the way some hazy fog if you will hear the shop new c berkeley. Of course all nice and lit up there was we can see in our start to get some sun action although its behind our Vantage Point here but also tried to light up the skies a little bit. Yes the days are getting longer my friend sets the june. Theres a shot of the Golden Gate Bridge and again too we could see some gray off towards the distance here, but again some of the delays that were negotiating through as well speaking of all of that this is what happens with that fog in the next couple of hours, its contained pretty quickly. I mean even off to the coast already by 1030. However, the cloud cover will probably linger a little bit longer than that well show you all that just a bit lower 60s up there around the delta 58 livermore currently upper 50s light up the east bay shoreline with lower to middle 50s up to the north bay, 60 san jose and peninsula is also in the 50s territory. Were a touch cooler up in the north bay but elsewhere a couple degrees ahead this time we were from yesterday, speaking of that cloud cover future cast for says this here comes the clearup pattern here it looks like already by high noon and will be off to a mostly sunny afternoon, nice clear night it looks like a head. And tomorrow looks pretty dandy except the only difference is going to be much warmer as High Pressure starts to settle in and we look for temperatures to start climbing. Its a early clouds to daily clearing. Mild for the bay was 70s and some 80s cooking on inland, but this week warming quickly inland highs racing through the 90s and we could see some 100 plus degree readings. Tomorrow wednesday that we want to look for them for this week, its a few showers on saturday with 60s and 70s maybe even a second hit there on sunday. I said a 66 San Francisco, 72 for oakland 79 for san jose across the wider bay here numbers reaching the lower to middle 80s out toward the delta 84 livermore east bay shoreline is middle 70s territory. But santa rosa still manages to get up there to 82 coming up a bit. Well of course take a look at your 4 zone forecast and that extended an extended models to show some of that rain coming for this weekend now watching bay area bridges and roadways robin dog us through it haha i will thank you dave, lets check in on the traffic here. Kenya jog faster than the traffic is moving out of the 7 bridge thats the big question. Its our busiest bridge right now busy does not mean bad. We just have a lot of leaving hayward heading west across the span there you can see the tail slowly coming to a crawl so thats going to be out there within the next few hours or so, but no problems and you can make it across and under 25 minutes so good drive time, lets check some more bridges how about the bay bridge 80 west of course not as busy. Delay free in trouble free a quick trip across the upper deck, well check out more bridges coming up a little bit later. Well happening today tolls are back on bay area freeways was nice to get a little break right. So beginning now express lanes on the following highways will be reinstated. Well to the peninsula, San Mateo County has issued a revised health order which allows places of worship to haul services now the order also allows instore shopping at retail stores, but with Safety Measures in place beaches are also reopen as long as people are social distancing and wearing your face coverings and places of worship and other businesses must draw up safety plans before they can reopen. Congressional black caucus members are demanding justice following recent series of killings of africanamericans across the country. Theyre calling these acts of violence modern day lynchings and theyre demanding Congress Make it a federal crime Raquel Martin now with more from capitol hill. Its a sad day in america fire in outrage over night in minneapolis and across the country as protesters demand justice for the killing of george floyd an unarmed black man i do its flying this to our children, ohio congresswoman joyce beatty public execution in clear view just devastate in california congresswoman karen bass say they understand the rage over taking the street people emotionally right are feeling like when will this ever stop the Congressional Black Caucus is calling both the killing of george floyd this week in amman arbery killed while jogging earlier this year modern day lynchings and is a Congress Must send a clear message denouncing races acts make lynching a federal. A law that would make it a hate crime i think its the least that we could do earlier this year, the house overwhelmingly passed the emmett till anti lynching act. Making lynching defined as a conspiracy to commit a hate crime a federal crime, illinois congressman bobby rush author the bill under and sang rush says that the bill becomes law it would advance federal investigations and did thats like floyd in arberys he is now drafting new legislation targeting lynchings by Police Officers we have a pandemic. Then the pandemic were very while President Trump has called for a federal investigation, the Congressional Black Caucus as a long lasting change is needed in washington Raquel Martin. Coming up next after the break as the unrest for justice over george oyds death continues one bay area native. Is speaking out on how we can contribute to change. Good morning welcome back last night, donna kron 4 spoke a social commentator host of cnns united shades of america, author comedian and bay area native w kamau bell. We asked him about the social unrest over George Floyds killing. A number black men have been killed on armed over the last few years weve seen protests but nothing like this what are you a trip attribute this activity to why this death with mister floyd is different. Thank you have a deep and i cant separate this from the moment, were still in the middle of a Global Pandemic and its easy to forget that because everything is going on in the news right now. But people are jobless. They are so many people are sick. Many people are seeing that people are pretty die and especially the black and brown communities they hit harder by this Global Pandemic and so in the midst of this theres this feeling of like we cant even get a break from racism in the middle of a Global Pandemic i think it you can separate this from the from the pandemic. Come out im curious about your thoughts about the white interaction in all of this said and it goes both ways as you know. There are a lot of white people participating in this protest. Lot of white people being blamed for some of the violence and the looting. A lot of white people supporting the cause a lot of white people may be some skeptics and certainly there are still races out there as we all know, im just wondering from your perspective. What can a white person do for you in this cause that you think is positive that can make a difference. I first thing they need to start thinking about theyre doing it for themselves structural and institutional racism hurts all of us is hurt black people the hardest hits us. The hardest. So i think they need to stop thinking about doing something for the black community and actually only a more equitable and just society a more a society where everyone has access to education and health care and the criminal Justice System is is it is as equity and it is better for all of us anyway but to stop getting caught up in what can i do for black people or to help them it at the i would say is that we also have to in the bay area theres a long history of protesting we know not every white person so to the protests in the same way we can all recognize those people when they show up we had protests in Downtown Berkeley a few years ago and there are white people stopping the black bloc anarchists from breaking into the trader joes so i think if you really want if you can get out there if you thought youd be safe out there which i think thats key again when the move a Global Pandemic then get out there and use your whiteness to stop these other white peoples user white is between those white people and the damage that do. Fascinating interview and weve posted the full interview online just head over to kron 4 dot com. To see the hole in it. I mean id have to structure in an arrest in San Francisco. Im will train in downtown San Francisco and well show you the damage and if you mrs. Walker. Michael vasquez come over here. Ive heard such good things about you, your company. Well, i wouldnt have done any of it without you. Without this place. This is for you. Michael, you didnt have to. And, were going to need some help with the rest. Youve worked so hard to achieve so much. Perhaps its time to partner with someone who knows you and your business well enough to understand what your wealth is really for. Welcome back everyone, it is 5. 30 good morning and thanks for staying with us how about we get our started off for this half hour started off with a look at your Weather Forecast great way to start the month. Yeah, lets check out the Weather Forecast. Dave spahr high date. Barney and robin good morning, good morning everybody and thats still kind of negotiate to some cloud cover we are at the Early Morning that will clear out though into the afternoon, heres how it looks like from satellite. And there you can see it to the edge of that the ending edge of it will be here probably by new does what it looks like by most accounts. The live shot coming in from u c berkeley with some of that morning is that we have to negotiate with that will be departing us within the next couple of hours, it looks like. Look at the numbers for you at this hour were in the lower 60s off to the delta but most readings are in the 50s for now some lower 50s up in the north bay words that actually the chilliest spot in the region. Cooler than we were yesterday 60 jose and 55. For San Francisco breaking it down for you today looks like a we start to clear up by about noon as we get into the 70s but we will revisit the 80s and some selective spots. Coming up in a bit of course well the 4 zone forecast in addition to that that extended which is going to show a brief. But another heat spike coming our way this week back to you. All right sounds good. Thank you dave our top story that were following for you this half hour protests continue throughout the night in cities all across the country dozens of cities impose curfews some declared states of emergency and all of this of course part by last weeks killing of george floyd while he was in Police Custody. Camila bernal is in minneapolis. She has the latest for us. A much more peaceful and less violent night here in minneapolis and even things this morning remain calm. I want to show you some of the people here at the intersection or george floyd had that horrific encounter with police some of them are sitting down some of them are kneeling but the idea is not only to keep things peaceful but to keep the focus on george floyd and not on the violence. It was another night of protests and unrest in cities across the country with incidents of violence from new york city to los angeles went for the ball has been knocked down that was no more that i dont have a voice anymore all sparked by the killing of 46 yearold george floyd who died in Police Custody, pleading for his life. As an officer in ad at least 40 cities have enacted nighttime curfews and more than a dozen states have deployed the national but not all demonstrations have been violent in minneapolis demonstrators, gathering at the intersection where 400 families to remember had the Minneapolis Police chief also took a knee at the site and acknowledge police needs to do better. Community members need to know that the men and women that put this badge on that they are doing so in service to them something they should not and they should not have to doubt they shouldnt have to the integrity in and if theyre going to be treated in a compassionate and professional way. And the police chief also saying that all 4 of those officers bear the same responsibility. It is a welcome message for many of the protesters here who continue to call for criminal charges for all of the officers involved reporting in minneapolis. Im Camila Bernal back to you. And in San Francisco protests continued on sunday as stores were vandalized and looted kron fours will tran live on Market Street taking a look at the damage will. Marty stores are either looted or stories took prevention to not be looted, you can see the windows right behind me this is right short of new montgomery on Market Street in a lot of windows are boarded up by drove up and down Market Street in the overnight hours and i saw graffiti everywhere i looked i saw the windows just broken that had to be repaired a lot of chaos in the overnight hours. Let me show you video of whats going on. Now there were demonstrations a lot of people were doing that across the country San Francisco, no different and that began on saturday and he carried into sunday with thousands of people going to civic center as well as city hall demonstrating and it started peacefully, nobody had any problems with that not even San Francisco mayor london breed who is in solidarity with the protests. She says she too is outraged. But what happened to george floor that it was hard for her to watch the video but she saw what was spiraling out of control that she declared a state of emergency claiming that they needed to restore order and thats where the curfew started at 8 oclock last night and went into in effect until 5 oclock this morning. So now the curfew has been lifted as far as the overnight hours, but it has been extended indefinitely. Now after 8 oclock. Police officers did move in declaring it an Unlawful Assembly telling the protesters. They had to go home and for the most part many protesters did however there were other protesters who refused to comply they move throughout San Francisco. They actually a one point even try to make their way on to the bay bridge, San Francisco Police Officers moved in predominantly in the Civic Center Area where they arrested 80 people a lot of them were juveniles and they got their names and their addresses and then released. However, there were trash bins set on fire items thrown at Police Officers and in some cases party they actually went in. Look throughout their their backpacks and they saw weapons including molotov cocktail in one particular incident, one officer was injured, but no major injuries to that particular officer, they actually had to call in about 200 other Police Officers and the nearby area for mutual aid just to help San Francisco and San Francisco county keep the peace in the overnight hours mayor london breed said the california National Guard this actually on standby should they need to call them in i got to let you know despite the curfew in place if you are declared an essential worker. You are allowed to break curfew so to speak and work in the overnight hours. But you can clearly see marty right here. This is a snapshot of what you will see if you either drive or up or walk up and down Market Street windows all boarded up active. Okay, thanks le will tran reporting live for us for Market Street in San Francisco. This is about him. In all those who are people of color who supported every single day from the trauma that we have to endure every single day please give one moment just towards in. Wow look at that mayor london breed and other San Francisco city leaders neeld for george floyd in the Mission District this happened at 24th and mission over the weekend 3 took a knee alongside were bird or hernandez who many refer to as the mayor of the mission in a tweet breed said San Francisco must remember what we are protesting for. Where you see it in this video out of the east bay, hundreds of demonstrators gathered in downtown oakland yesterday afternoon a viewer named steven he shared this video with us of the protest was happening around lake merritt he says at first you know it started off with just a few 100 people who are involved in marching around the lake and they lived through downtown oakland, but by the time they got back to lake merritt there are more than 1000 people out there, lots of folks are just also in their cars honking and waving signs in support. He says that the demonstration remain peaceful the entire time. And then this was the scene and oakland yesterday, the excuse me this is on saturday. This is video from a mercedesbenz dealership you see that one car in flames. It was set on fire right there inside the showroom looters also targeted other cars attacked other cars with graffiti. So lets talk to the man who has all the answers, lets check in with dave spahr dave. A good morning robin good morning, everybody and we have a little break from the heat today, but its coming back again member that last week was gonna repeat itself for a couple of days for a short lived, but will be around for brief moment here for us live shot from u c berkeley and we still have combat to cloud cover we have above us with some of the fog at the surface which is start to mix out pretty nicely shot from the sfo by the way no delays were getting any reports of at this hour. So upstream in the satellite picture here we can actually see some rain in the socal. It looks like a bit and certainly for a scattered clouds snow soon as we take care of all of this business this is this morning well go to mostly sunny and it looks like clear into the next couple of days where we get some more warming the get. Now for today, its the upper 80s going along the central valley, 87 for bakersfield 89th fresno mid to lower 60s along the Central Coast and lower to upper 70s happening even in southern california, 69 by the way for big bear it is pretty hot to number 2. So watching things and future cast for years the break up into the afternoon were mostly sunny and lets keep it that way right on through tomorrow and that will start paying for terms of higher numbers though as we get into the afternoon high temperatures by that point wider perspective, lets get on into that all important weekend here as we get into the weekend another dose of rain saturday in a to punch sunday even into monday potentially. Notice the color is a shun we might have even some mountain snows with that this system is originating from the northwest of us coming in from the gulf of alaska, so might have some cooler precipitation with that early into next week by the way looks like some more rain as well look out for 4 zone forecast covering you this monday. We got 66 for San Francisco for daly city at 64 pacifica at 61, lets call this mild side even cool. But just kind of mild upper 60s for the northern end of the peninsula. Down southward to the will last though tomorrow will be in the 80s 78 palo alto 76 redwood city and 75 for about to do with south bay. Upper 70s here 2. 80 to 4 morgan hill, 78 for cupertino in santa clara bow qaedas 79 east bay shoreline to the south mid 70s tri valley comes in about 80 for Livermore Pleasanton 79 along with dublin and jumping up here to a Contra Costa County 84 a walnut creek 82 for concord 72 richmond along with open and 74 san leandro a pair of the north bay 82 over sonoma 85 fairfield and vacaville 86 those are places going to be can become quite lofty tuesday and wednesday. But a little bit about what about 7092 rose and 66 out a point rate that warm up to the beaches to lets to upper 90s officially on the 7 day but between us kids here at the cop in about a 100 and some selective spots will be watching as we head of the week and we quickly call in the introduction of a new crop coming here. That means some rain is possible on saturday and into sunday. Breezy with successive systems into early next week checking roadways and highways robin whats going on. We do have some heavy traffic of this morning on 5 80 look at that long stretch there from livermore all the way into pleasanton we have a crash that still working 5 80 westbound at el charro actually happened early this morning at 1248 between a car and a tractor trailer was someone was trapped inside. The right lane is still closed in this house traffic backed up all the way through livermore now its spilling isabel 84. So major delays for 5 of the west has a worked to clear the crash doesnt look like its going to happen any time soon. So yeah we have a big backup 19 minutes here to make it to the dublin ore interchange because of that crash which is still active. Ill keep my eyes on it, but the bridges look great 80 west into San Francisco delay free a quick 9 minute trip to fremont street and then 92 still our busiest bridge. Yes, theres a crowd out there, but its not bad 12 minutes from hayward over to send the tail marty. Ok, robin protesters also gathered in sandra fell in the north bay to demonstrate against. Police brutality in the wake of the death of george floyd. Organizers say they havent seen this many demonstrators out before to support black lives matter protests. Kron fours gayle ong has more on that. Protesters lined up along 3rd street here in Downtown Center sell to show solidarity for george floyd and all black lives lost due to Police Violence. Drivers honked as protesters most of the signs reading black lives matter and we all need to make this the last time and i just dont see that happening but the we have to speak out this has to stop Police Brutality has to stop. I like people have to protest white supremacy.
