Well the cdc also released some guidelines for physical distancing in classrooms schools will be required to keep 6 feet between school desks School Administrators and the Teachers Union both say that worker contracts could also present another obstacle to moving the early start date. Smaller private schools are also expected to be suffering some huge financial losses because of lower enrollment for the next school year because of the coronavirus the American Council on education projects projects rather a 15 drop in National Enrollment for the 2020 2021 academic year. Maybe the best medicine. The announcement comes after a California Police chiefs memo circulated overnight claiming newsoms administration was set to close all beaches and state parks. Bottom line that was their memo but that moment i got to as relates to the issue that im grappling with weve been consistent. We have been clear we have been transparent weve been talking about this every day. The closure comes after images just like this one last saturday showing large crowds and beachgoers at newport beach. The governor would not say whether this is going to be temporary or shot across the bow for other counties that he will possibly shut them down any hopes as far as Orange Countys concern is going to be only for a very short time. Thats caltrans has finished the highway decades on one oh one its or deck replacement, San Franciscos alum in the circle and they did it 2 days ahead of schedule. Kron 4 Sarah Stinson live in San Francisco with the latest on this early completion of this project and sarah its amazing what you can do when theres no traffic. Right i mean if we just always stayed at home and be able to get a lot more Construction Work Done but we have to go to work when were not having to stay at home for this pandemic but good news as you said theyre reopening the southbound lanes today and on the one o one here in San Francisco at alamein the circle and will be opening the northbound lanes tomorrow afternoon this morning. They said about 7 oclock looks like its going to be a bit earlier so theyre going to bring me up there give me a hard head were going to go see the traffic come back through for the first time youre looking at a live look right now of whats happening where theres just one lane open and when they open it today that is going to be 2 lanes open so thats going to be really helpful for everybody. But remember when youre going through their keep a speed of 40 Miles Per Hour. Make sure youre being cognizant of the changes out there and remember that i i reported on this earlier this bridge deck has been around for 70 years in San Francisco. This is a priority project for caltrans to maintain one of the bay areas most heavily traveled corridor that connects the peninsula to downtown San Francisco and more than 240,000 cars drive on it daily so is very needed and much needed project and thats why they fast tracked it to be done during this stay at home order when it was actually supposed to be scheduled for july 2020 because less people are on the road right now its caused a lot less of an impact on drivers and its a lot caltrans to get to work and complete this quickly, lets hear form from the chief of Public Affairs from caltrans about this project and what you can expect driving on it today. This was a 24 7 operation crews are getting a little weary after that but so work, but yeah, theres excitement in the air because that the job is wrapping up and we are going to be able to open the southbound 1, 1, freeway on time or maybe even a few minutes early this morning people are coming on to this new bridge. Were still going to have one lane closed, so theyll be 2 lanes of southbound traffic thats actually an improvement from what we have been running weve been running one lane while the construction was going on traffic counts of remain low throughout the entire time that weve been doing this work so were not expecting a big traffic back up today. And so in your head not there remember keep that speed at 40 Miles Per Hour beale where you might be a on the road youve never driven on and again that northbound lane that will open tomorrow around 3 oclock in the afternoon. So look for to that maybe even earlier theyve been working so fast here. Coming up in the next hour. Ill have video from up there on the bridge deck. 800 feet in this in the skies, so its going to be fun to make sure to join us keep in mind caltrans will be out here even after the project is done the survey assessing so you want to make sure you keep it slow. Be aware of those crews out there and stay safe for now live in San Francisco Sarah Stinson kron 4 news all right sir will look forward to your report next hour when youre up on the brand new deck that Sarah Stinson reporting for us. This morning. Still ahead on the crime. A lot has found a way as couples are refusing to let covid19 win. And theyre getting married anyway. With a twist will explain. Im Morgan Wright in washington why new york senator Kirsten Gillibrand is pushing to establish a health force to help fight back against the pandemic. And after the break governor newsome launches a new website for essential workers who are looking for child care, well tell you all about it coming up. High date. And i wear it and take care of the fog this morning, not as much said that when the 2 in some spots that it will be this afternoon a little cooler, heres a shot of the Golden Gate Bridge with all those wonderful colors how about the shot weve got a pretty decent friday forecast, but some potential sprinkles for your and welcome back to the kron 4 morning news who want to get a check of weather this morning with dave spahr who joins us live from his home. And its going to be jacket weather today right. Well early parts of today by the afternoon not too bad, i mean well the upper 70s and those their areas but a little bit of a chilly breeze for some thats true and will be some 60s to be had in parts of the peninsula. Even though we have quite a bit of sunshine work in our favor as well getting kind of chilly for this weekend to update you with a little bit away some showers going on for saturday all got some purples going on here, yeah i almost want to say that the jimi hendrix song but no were not going to do so anyway, heres we got the Golden Gate Bridge going on weve got oranges this go around here. And so we can see the clear shot right into moran, theres a lot of the breeze were talking about there you can see the flag flapping around just a touch here with an on shore wind. Getting to what happens with our cloud sector here with the arrival of this system. Today again mostly sunny here comes the marine layer overnight, very early. I mean for a run midnight or so and then by saturday morning the opportunity for couple little stray showers going on here this isnt up to what may be what some roads. Dirty up the car. But thats really about it. And it may linger a little bit. The Santa Cruz Mountains into sunday morning just a touch there and then we clear out for sunday afternoon. Now the winds actually die down a little bit early today and then they pick back up again there you see him in the Late Afternoon by this point will be at maximum heating. There can see the party space where the winds are quite wicked but they are an onshore wind that so i will lose that fight looks like set a friday night into saturday. So the game plan is this its mostly sunny breezy and cooler going on today 60s for the coast 70s for the bay and inland. Then this weekend mostly cloudy for the saturday thats the rain opportunity mostly sunny back again sunday. Then next week warming quickly to the 80s by midweek 90 potentially on thursday and way upstream beyond that with the High Pressure building not only is the blocs a success of systems, but we may be looking for a nice little heat spike hanging around for a while 66 San Francisco 71 for oakland, san jose is checking in at 75. Across the broader bay here we have the upper 70s that are or cure. These are going to be high so with coupled with the onshore winds. If thats jacket or chilly weather or sweater weather maybe want to grab something with that on the east bay shoreline lower 70 so that will be maybe a shock a little bit to the system and then make sure you have a short sleeve shirts around because youll need them again by the middle of next week well be checking into that extended forecast of the 4 zone in just a bit party back to you all right, thanks a lot, lets get to National News this morning, some Senate Democrats believe that they have a solution to help with the growing unemployment numbers and the coronavirus pandemic. The focus should be on restoring workers to their previous jobs, lets keep in mind. That nearly 26 Million People over unemployment were happy and just 8 weeks ago. Lets make sure that those jobs to fill but gillett brand plans to keep pushing for legislation to be included in the next coronavirus Economic Relief package, reporting in washington, im Morgan Wright. His daily update on thursday governor newsome unveiled a new website to help parents help heirs to find safe and license chair of child care providers, especially for those who are essential workers now visitors can go to the site put in their zip code and find licensed child care providers in their neighborhoods. You can also find Contact Information the age range of children that are accepted also the availability and health and Safety Information as well. One of the child care providers in on the website is diamond Little People academy in the east bay. Lets say hi to dave spahr a day of good morning. Well good morning marty and good morning, everybody a bit of a cooler morning that we have breezy we had yesterday and we have it again in particular this afternoon. Youre really going to notice it as well, pretty nice start to the day that we didnt have too much the way of that karl, the fog one on that. Maybe just a little minor haze, but there you see the sun coming up over the east bay hills. So a good start to the day. Temperatures a bit on the chilly side the what spots as we see some lower 40s up in the north a typical though off to the east bay, not as much show with some of the winds kind of circulating the air we have the lower to middle 50s there tri valley 47 livermore east bay shoreline lower 50s at this hour. So as we take a look at future cast winds theres the uptick that we say by this evening kicking in the inland valleys of looks likely kicking up a little bit at the double digits, even to the 20s. But that will only be for today tonight by tomorrow morning thats all said and gone and the next rain to come to the station is the cloud cover and potentially some of those sprinkles at work how much does it bring us well lets watch or in future cast rain. And its going to iraq citing so here we go all get the green crayons out there we go. We have maybe a 100 or 207 inch of rain. Its just an estimation, but the breath of this is kind of interesting it shows at least areas around the water all have a chance of getting something so maybe itll be distributed across the greater bay there to get a little bit to what the law is a little bit or something. All right so we go for a future cast for whom theres that opportunity tomorrow morning alright fine we got it then after that what High Pressure is pretty much in control here and as we really start to see the heat spike happens by the middle of the week it doesnt look like theres much upstream to intercept that. So we may be in for more of the same as we get to the latter portion of next week 4 zone forecast for your friday, 66 San Francisco. Along the coast. Were at 64 daly city pacific a 6164 for half moon bay. To the northern end of the peninsula mid 60s 68 for burlingame but we still have some 70s hanging on here down the south southern and san carlos at 69 to redwood city palo alto both at 70 to 73 from out of you. 80s are gone from the south bay here 77 morgan hill 75 for san jose know pitas at 74 for the lower 70s along the east bay shoreline and up the tri valley of the east bay hills a little warmer mid 70s that that 75 per livermore but up the Contra Costa County. A little warmer still 77 walnut creek in concord at 79 74 san ramon. And we get up here to the north bay antioch it 7980 vacaville 77 for napa and 76 4 sonoma santa rosas coming in at 79 and shelley and number and beaches, 58 4 point rain 61st ensign beaches going pretty cool for this weekend anyway. So what we take a look at we get past all of that is into next week temperatures climb. Well quickly through the 80s. While but 89 for thursday, but i think well start to see some 90s poking through there on thursday and potentially stay with us into the following weekend. Give you a real good flavor of some early summer coming our way for the middle of next week. Check and bay area traffic and bridges and all that fun stuff. Well, what shake it. Well i can tell you whats not heating up the traffic ever since shelter in place this is what we see every day you know i know Everybody Knows at around 00 48am in the morning in a Perfect World you would see cars backed up as far as you can possibly see. No problems however if youre heading into San Francisco. If you need to use the bay bridge from the bay bridge, the richmond sandra fell bridge even lighter you only see a handful of cars heading towards the toll plaza. I think your biggest problem these days were all one grateful tohave a job to be careful out there because you could be in jeopardy of going a little too fast to Golden Gate Bridge postcard shot as always my favorite bridge.
