Premier inns has been transition into a 65 room shelter, its going to operate for at least 4 months to help slow the spread of the coronavirus its the latest effort to try and get the homeless off the street during this pandemic last week the city of San Francisco also said that it would be sending homeless to hotels after 2 Homeless People had tested positive for the coronavirus also last week Governor Newsom said that money from the federal government would help pay for at least 15,000 hotel rooms for the homeless across california. Its not yet clear if the hotel in concord is part of that program. The Coronavirus Infection raised it among california healthcare workers has spiked over the past couple of days. Yesterday, the States Department of health said that more than 1800 Health Care Workers have tested positive for coronavirus and thats nearly 7 times more than the number of cases on monday. Officials blame the surge on how theyre counting cases now before theyd only included health care infections for workers who are exposed while on the job. Well now theyre counting all Health Care Workers who are positive regardless of where they may have been exposed. California is working to extend extra benefits to Health Care Workers on the front lines. State Health Care Employees now have access to travel vouchers and spot the stipends as well on thursday, the governor announced that the state will reimburse lower wage workers. 100 of hotel costs at any designated location and that will provide vouchers to others who need to sleep away from home because of their job. So that theyre allowed to stay closer to their patients. And provide them the opportunity not to worry about being out of pocket or worry about exposing their families or god forbid worried about another night sleeping in their car. So they can stay closer to the needs in their communities. Well the 150 hotels that are part of the states plan will be available on a new state website. Its called cal travel store dot com. And that opens up today. The Governor Newsome said that fema will be helping fund this program along with a million donation from Mark Zuckerberg the governor also said a handful of airlines will be offering free roundtrip tickets. 2 Health Care Workers. Bay area based amys kitchen is known for its organic but during these tough times the north bay company is also helping out First Responders as well. At the restaurants drivethru location in rohnert park bay area medical Staff Members and First Responders can get meals for free. The company also did this for victims and First Responders during the Sonoma County fires back in 2017 and now the Santa Rosa Based food maker wants to do it again. For us as long as a longarmed now theyre really helping us fight this pandemic they dont have much time and theyre hungry were just thrilled still the all told amys has donated 150,000 meals to various food banks and 6,000 masks to medical workers the company is also hiring to fill positions in the kitchen and also maintenance and sanitation. San francisco be extending emergency child a new scare until the at least the end of the school year. The park and Recreation Department will keep centers open at least until june 2nd for children of Health Care WorkersFirst Responders and other essential city employees. Emergency care is being provided throughout the city to children from k through 8th grade from 6. 30 in the morning till 7. 30 in the evening.
