Word on the cause and the mandatory evacuation orders are still in place around 300 residents have. Ive been evacuated. Thats roughly 1700 people within the warning areas so far even though its not contained. We dont have any reports of and we dont have any reports of a structure is being destroyed but if you live our work in any of the areas that you just saw on your screen. You have to evacuate now the red cross has set up to Evacuation Centers for you to go to your first option is windsor high school. Thats at 8695 windsor road. Thats and winds are california and then theres also the hills berg Community Center and 1, 5, 5, 7, hillsborough avenue. So those are your 2 options one once again in its mandatory show you need to pack up your belongings get everything that you need and make sure you have to so to local spots and then theyve also set up Evacuation Center for people that have large animals as well right at the fairgrounds so at least you have that option. Standing by right now want to go back and visit with kron 4 Sarah Stinson last we talked with you sarah. You mentioned youre going to try to relocate have you done that yet are you still bring down where we saw you. Sheriffs Office Deputies driving up closer to the fire. And they say that is because of. The wind the wind has been extremely intense. They said its moving. It can change of course. 4 closer to the fire. 33 in the morning. If you feel unsafe. You see the flames and you just want to get out. You should he should go to the Evacuation Centers again those are winds are high school healdsburg Community Center because this fire is its moving so fast and theyre dealing with these. Wind gusts which we actually have. Unpredictable and thats why they have. Hundreds of firefighters out here trying to battle it trying to get it under control. Now you can see on your screen. Flames and own large blow we read miss. Coming from smoke. A one point we saw this. That was a building that caught fire. No buildings have been caught fire. No one has been injured. But they have created a mandatory evacuation saying this is a serious fire. The mandatory evacuation area is to get. Were standing in a mandatory evacuation area. One 28 which is where we are from geysers road. Including the casino we saw that was completely closed down. Fence off with Police Monitoring it making sure that if they see anyone telling them to get out. Immediately. Officials have gotten a lot of calls from people. Asking questions that they want to make that clear. Miles from calistoga. 15 miles from the geysers and again the building next to us unclear. It was any type of business this could be someones home. Most feels likeat as u can see. So stay tuned as we continue to fall this because this fire it is changing every minute well give you updates right here from the field. From guys are ville send back to you yet sarah they dont have to be i have to say its its. Scary to see what looks like snow falling all around you, but as you said it is the ash after imagine youre probably spelling some pretty strong smells of smoke there too. Oh yeah you drive into geyser vil really got off. Youre looking a live picture of the flames. Right up in the ridge right there. Does look like snow james. Thats incredible looks like its advancing in their direction so be safe. And well check back in with you again sarah perhaps maybe from a different location want see what the what the situation is like for you throughout the morning. Thank you very much its one thing to describe it but to talk to someone whos actually theyre breathing in the air and seeing what the environment is like its its an differ it is lot l to dea with a joining us right now we have to talk for Matthew Henderson on the phone right now matthew thank you so much for joining us. Good morning again robin good morning whats experience there so far youre the photographer youve been out there taking pictures. And video what has been like for you. So i just came off of their top of road and uh i would like to southern edge of the fire. And got up their work got 75 miles an hour. Incredible fire movement. And what we have to say were looking at some of the video that you shot earlier this morning we could see some emergency equipment describe what you saw in terms of the response and what the firefighters were doing up there. So response by cal fire and local government. Now there lot of well those coming in trying to wine you i work on the south and that looks awfully close to the flames. I mean it it looks like it was right up to you. And the point one point. And and then we get quick win ship and players jump up you know 1520 near with that kind of pushes back. Wow so if the video is dark obviously because the sun is not up but can you give our viewers a sense of what the terrain is like what is it like. Up there with the firefighters are doing this work right now. I areas and that it gets up there too. Virtually inaccessible by firefighters. And were you seeing people leaving as you are heading in was this i assume part of the mandatory evacuation zone, correct. Yeah, not and having ending up. One 28 and then up guygers road there are definitely some residents an event. Getting out which is really to do. A chance to talk with any of the local residents are the people that were actually im moving out and evacuating when you were there. You know a flight and i saw were long one 28, theyre actually pulled over the side of the road. Take some pictures which is not the greatest idea. Pretty competent cal fire bility too. They are property course, theyre about those kinds of things. Right right. Well hopefully they were a lot more prepared to you know, but out this time around given the fact that weve had to do this once or twice before up in that country so hopefully people are a better able to just go at a moments notice and others about 1700 people in an evacuation warning area. Where are you now or you still up near the fire line. Currently heading home to take my daughter to school. Are you are ok so youre per fairly confident that youre not in an area thats going to be evacuated to some point this morning. Thank you so much for joining us. This morning. Matthew in sharing the video which is giving us a fantastic view up close to the flames here, a look at what firefighters dealing with out there we appreciate your time this morning. Could cal fire. Those the guys the local agencies theyre out so awesome thank you so much matthew for joining us this morning. And well continue our Team Coverage right now as we as event get reporters fanned out across bay yes now checking in with kron fours chris unit hate row. Shes covering the evacuation orders and the centers are open right now with what red cross on scene in hillsborough christina. Yes, im currently at the. At the healdsburg Community Center and actually as you can see behind me weve got lights on and we already have people here. Evacuees are already piling in weve got about dozen so far that have com to use the resources here as robin did mention of course weve got red cross on scene to help people through this time but i really want to put this into perspective for you so were talking about where this fire is you know this is about had halfway in between point from santa rosa, up to the fire and as i was driving up here you could see the fire eliminating the mountainside and actually just as sarah can obviously smell and see the fires close to she is here about 10 miles down south where i am here. I can also smell the fire ive got a warm. Air coming towards me and of course we have ash coming through the air looking like a little bit of snow coming in and again thats 10 to 15 miles out from where the flame is actually burning but there actually 2 different Evacuation Centers that residents can go to and they are where i am right here at hillsbor Community Center. Weve also got winds are high school is another option for people as well were talking a vacuum we so far weve got 276. Evacuated and 1700 in the warning area, evacuation or any warning areas but check this out we dont know if that actually people evacuees for evacuated structures or buildings because if it is buildings or structures that tops the can be considerable more amount of people so thats actually a fact that weve been working to confirm with you guys so that we have that information for you, but again at least we know so far hundreds evacuated, and possibly over a 1000 almost 2000 more to be evacuated. Very quickly here of course the concern of this fire is how quickly its been spreading in less than 10 hour does up to 10,000 acres a lot of people on edge for that. Do want to give some information if anyone has questions on this fire or wants to more information they give go ahead and call 2, 1, 1, to get more information. They do say please do not call 911 in less is an extreme urgency as you can imagine, weve got a lot of our Law Enforcement officers that are already out there working because of this fire we also have some new information just in want to let with some Sonoma CountySheriffs Office gave us this information the fires actually moving towards cloverdale and more evacuations are expected to that number a kid you to 76 in 1700 could possibly grow very quickly here. There are a lot of vineyards and ranch is in the fire zone as you can imagine because there are a lot of than yours and branches. Also a lot of animals are going to be impacted and actually just a behind the camera something you can see right now but actually an Animal Services truck came by as well so if you think about we have people animals all being impacted by this for now thats the latest we have here in healdsburg im christina teacher reporting for kron 4. All right, thank you christina, well check back in with you a little bit later but want check in with our meteorologist john trimble who has been tracking the winds. The low humidity. As we head into the afternoon. So whats the latest john. Already a warm start guys and we are seeing windy conditions in the vicinity of the fire shouldnt be a big surprise actually that the northern end of the blaze is actually expanding faster than the southern and because the further north you get towards cloverdale nasty is actually where the strongest of winds are the further south you head to work or seen a standing right now in healdsburg actually a little bit calmer so this blaze expanding in those areas where you are seeing some of those highest of winds currently asking look at this regular winds gusting as high as 41 Miles Per Hour cloverdale at 39 Miles Per Hour. These are very intense winds and Populated Areas down lower in elevation you head up higher than that above 1000 feet winds are Even Stronger yet with gusts as high as 60 Miles Per Hour. So this fire could potentially rapidly ntinuto grow so many communities whether youre in cloverdaleether ure in geyser bill right now should definitely be taking heat. Im sure a lot of those residents in cloverdale are doing so at this very moment as robin mentioned its also very warm out there take a look at some of these temperatures we didnt really cool down overnight, theres a lot of mixing going on due to those winds that keeps a lot of heat gathered at the surface santa rosa right now is that 77 degrees. Sometimes youll think of a cool morning. Thats good news fires can spread when its super cool out there resigned to point that is actually not at all the case right now temperatures are warm but we are still very dry as humidity goes, especially considering what time of the morning, it is that means that with those winds this fire does have that opportunity to spread very quickly. Sonoma in calistoga each with winds gusting into a range of 20 to 30 Miles Per Hour right now so theres a lot of areas besides northern Sonoma County were talking napa lake mendocino counties down even into the further southern parts of the day like Half Moon Bay that are still looking at very significant winds and very dry conditions at this moment. This is a 10 00am were still talking strong winds from through sonoma on over to calistoga and even in portions of the east bay but look at what happens to those wind speeds into the afternoon. This is at 03 15pm right here about an hour before red flag warnings officially expire winds of really calmed down by this point and theyre going to stay calm for the rest of the evening after that so there is an and to the success of wind in sight. This morning is not the end of it though were still going to be looking at strong winds through the noon hour. But the afternoon ahead will eventually bring that relief as i mentioned red flag warnings do expire today at 04 00pm to that point were still looking at them though all across the north bay for the inland east bay delegations above 1000 people on the peninsula. Your daytime highs going to be some of our hottest today too into the 90s across most of the bay ciena rose up to 91 napa 92 Oakland Hayward conquered all in the 90s look at San Francisco up to 89 were about to see a lot records shattered across the bay as far as temperatures go today, your next 7 days bringing relief as far as temperatures go we will have winds kicking back up though come saturday night into sunday, so this has crews concerned yet again. The good news is during this next wind event least temperatures will be a bit cooler but were not out of the woods as far as winds go a second to events is in your forecast. Next week on all looks to be a lot cooler on average with highs in the 70s. Robin all right, thank you john now we want to check back in on traffic for. Those of you just sign hitting the road this morning theres a minor weights at the bay bridge toll plaza so making your way into San Francisco. It will be the final problems no hot spots to worry about looking at 8 minutes to make it off to fremont street were checking in on the Richmond Sandra fell it also looks good a few cars rolling through the pay gates but its been a great dry so far into the north bay 92 is busy this is a trip across the san mateo bridge. Its crowded on the flat section but youre looking good up and over the high rise your drive times here for highway 4 6. 80 the nimitz and one oh one all in pretty good shape of course you want to head back to our breaking news story that were following for you this morning, large fire a fast moving wildfire. Thats burning near geyser ville right now driven by strong winds weve had gusts anywhere from 60 to 70 Miles Per Hour. Its called the kim k fire. The letter latest update of that we have from crews on scene is that it has burned 10,000 acres so far and it is 0 contained no injuries reported. But we have several evacuation orders in place mandatory centers have those specifics and all the other details coming up and following the very latest with breaking news this morning a wildfire that has erupted in the north bay burning in northern Sonoma County right near the lake county border actually just due east of guys are ville and you can see in this this video the intensity of the fires that are burning right now in those hills and i also want to show you a map because this kind of helps better illustrate where the fire is burning at whos being impacted by. So this map actually has several layers that are overlaid on top of each other on a break down exactly what were looking at. So this area outlined in blue, that is the curnt fire zone as its understood right now that may change once daylight comes up and the chp and cal fire get their planes in the air get a better assessment of the perimeter of this fire. But at the moment thats where its currently burning Everything Else that you see on this map all these red polygon those of those areas that pg e had intentionally shut power off because of the high winds and a high fire risk so as you can see this fire broke out. Right in the middle of the power shut off zone geyser bill is actually right there. So all of this is burning now in those hills just due east of guys or fail and theyre being fueled by what are called the to diablo winds. These are those inland winds the valley winds that blow out towards the ocean. They take all the hot air from the Sacramento Valley in the north the valley and they blow it across the hills and out to the ocean. This is that warmer drier wind the winds that pg e were worried about and at the gusts as are blowing across the gusts here of these mountains. Theyre clocking speeds of anywhere from 3040 50 fact we heard somebody this morning who was up on those hills and he thought theyre bought about 75 Miles Per Hour still waiting for official numbers from the National Weather service but its those strong winds are fueling the fast spread of this fire dont forget it broke out at 9 30 last night and has grown out over 10,000 acres in size and how far along are firefighters and containing it. Its 0 contained right now and thats why theyre awfully worried if there is one bit of good news out of all of this its that the winds currently are blowing those flames. More do west and north which is actually blowing it away from the more populated communities right here along one oh 1 one 28 well continue following the story here, heres some more video as we go again another look at the flames that firefighters are battling as we speak and those high winds. That are driving it farther and farther ahead, well be right back. How do i use better than bouillon . I just add a spoonful to my marinades. To stir frys. Sauces. Just whisk it in. Brush it on. Saute it. It adds a cooked all day taste. That doesnt take all day. Better than bouillon. Dont just make it. Make it better. Susan thanks for staying with us check out this amazing video youre looking at a fast moving wildfire. Thats burning along the sonoma and lake county lines this is near geyser veil. This fire started around 9 30 last night and as of right now, it is still out of control, its called the king cake fire and so far it has burned 10,000 acres at 0 containment so fire crews are still battling this fire from all angles you can see just how widespread and intenie it is were talking to our meteorologist john tribal he was telling us that in the guys are bill area. Its about 80 degrees right now and theyve experience wind gusts between 60 and 70 Miles Per Hour. Thats why they have mandatory evacuations under way at least 300 people have been forced to evacuate. Theyre dealing with right now in Sonoma County where this fact. Fast moving wildfire has already now expanded to 10,000 acres. Firefighsers are doing their best but 80 contained at this hour we actually had a chance to talk to somebody this morning he shared with some of the video that heat captured when he was up on the ridgeline at one of the points where the fire is burning awfully close to Populated Areas and here you can see drive into the small the flames with fireig standing on either side trying to douse the hill. With the as much water as they can bulldozers have been brought in to try to cut fire lines in to stop the fires progress. But theyre not having much luck 0 containment this morning looking at that shot of him driving through the area scary is that and reminiscent of. People evacuating what they w on bh sides of the road as they tried to get out we do have evacuation as we do
