Morning. Good morning. But its not quite a good morning for people waking up with no power here in lafayette im here at the a safe way and they are without power course as well and they are closed for the time being a im told that theyre going to wait till more Natural Light can elimine the store to reopen know so when see if they can get a water on and so a lot of Different Things here there a lot of Grocery Stores across the bay area were trying to you know use generators or use Natural Light. Try to figure ways to serve the community because they know at peoe we need stuff and of course they want to provide that to them i just spoke to a man who drove up here he is driving all around lafayette trying to get a cup of coffee and hes just and find a single place to buy it is just exhausted morning, some coffee woke up with no power either. Take a look at this map you can see all of the people all of the customers with pg e that are without power. And theres about 4200 customers in lafayette without power. 2600 in walnut creek. 11th hour 1000 in orinda i mean basically all over india is in the dark. Then you got 4,000 in iraq again, those poor people that was not only a fire, but also they woke up to a fire and no powers so lot of people are frustrated. Obviously when i talk to rugged theyre grateful that their homes and burned down but people here in lafayette, they are comfy here life its very cold. Theres not a ton of wind here so people are frustrated, you could say. Theres a power outage due to wind when they dont see the wind and thats what hearing from people here but a pg e has said they have completed phase 2. So that means if you have. In one of those cities or counties that weve been talking about it means that your country going to continue to have power the not going to turn it off and you anymore. If you dont have power. Well now we have a waiting game we have to see when theyre going to turn it back on and i just told the guy he said hopefully today, get back on i told them no even when they say theyre going to turn it back on its going to take 40 to 72 hours because inspect each line. He didnt really like to hear that in so i will be here live. Continuing to cover this will hear from that man coming up in the next half hour now live in lafayette Sarah Stinson. Everybody asked ashley those who lost power 2 nights ago which is a lot of the north bay and in the south joined last night fact we just had a press conference in our last hour we heard from mayor, sam liccardo and he said that theyre going to be pressing pg need to get this power restored as quickly as possible that was his polite way of saying that really gonna turn the thumb screws on page a need to get this power outage over with conference chris and pedro is live with more on that christine a. Its very transparent with all of the media members about exactly that actually saying that he. When to advocate for this not to happen just earlier this summer so he is frustrated right now because he does realize you know how much of an issue. This is you know in the city and so this is something that and he was very again transparent about in the press conference in just happened within the past hour and they really emphasize the 3 different areas that power hurting here in the city of san jose i want to read out those areas you i would live earlier this morning alum rock. It is pay it was pitch dark this morning. A lot of members of the community in that neighborhood without power waking up this morning. Theres also alamuddin in south san jose as well as the evergreen neighborhood all 3 of hurt very strictly because of this pie routed. Now earlier in the press conference they did mention that ah about 20,000 homes just in the city of san jose were impacted and they say that over 60,000 people just within the 3 areas of san jose has also declared a state of emergency as well as as county of santa clara. They have also declared a state of emergency and within the county here. They say that there are well over 60,000. Holmes without power so city and county greatly affect impacted and affected by this. I do want to actually toss it over a quick quote by near as he was speaking about kind of his frustration with this happening to the members of his. So we have heard from pg any that the outages that have happened thus far will be the only outages theyre exing the weather events to dissipate this morning, i rode not bad in july and testified in front of the state legislature. A month later urging a change in the process and procedures that percy the power shut down. I expect that conversation become much more robust now that weve had Rl Experience experience that frankly is confirmed the concerns that we at the city of san jose fonte had. Something else and that the mayor as well as his team had mentioned were some of the major thoroughfares that are unique impacted with no street lights and actually want to list those off too because were hitting morning traffic here. Those major thoroughfares in the 3 areas that i mentioned earlier our capital avenue, capitol expressway alum rock avenue tully road, san road story road and Camden Avenue there are a few more on that list as well, but they do say all of the as the official this morning said if you do come across a traffic light. It has no power treated as a fourway stop sign you for the person on your right and please proceed with caution, they say right now they just want the community to 6 together in this time to make sure that everyone can be taken care of with no power for now reporting live here in san Jose Christina tetreault kron 4 news. Thanks a lot. Christine, a so lets get the very latest now on the forecast the weather the wind thats the big factor that the firefighters and Emergency Responders are watching very closely. John what are we seeing that front. Yeah we saw those peak wind gust last night guys and it looks overall like wind speeds across the bay area as of right now are a lot calmer there are still being times today where youre going to see winds picking up here and there. But the heaviest of gusts looked to be a having already have happened a year look outside from the berkeley hills, one of our spots that was quite windy last night with winds gusting up to 30 Miles Per Hour shows clear and dry conditions up ahead looks like a gorgeous day when she look at these winds that are still present areas like black hawk and san ramon a 25 to 29 Miles Per Hour rio vista also still very breezy even walnut creek breezy at times although lafette where sarah was just a moment ago looking calm a lot like a oakland is right now at only 5 Miles Per Hour for your wind overall fairly calm for a the north bay we are seeing winds and what a current Stinson Beach a little breezier than moments ago at 19 Miles Per Hour. Sonoma youve consistently been one of our windiest spots Still Holding on to that breeze. Well nearby Santa Rosa Rohnert park in petaluma have been pretty calm throughout the morning. So far extreme fire danger is already seen the easing up in the north bay youre going to see a retreating gradually through the course of the day today. This is really good news because the end is in sight at least for those winds that uh we have been plaguing over the course of this past evening you are seeing wind advisories expiring at 03 00pm today. So an end in sight there and a fire weather warnings otherwise known as red flag warnings expiring at 05 00pm today after which point a fire danger really going down as we make our way into the weekend. Robin. Thank you john back to the san mateo bridge a busy commute this morning leaving hayward heading over to the peninsula so get on out there because your drive times going to be on the rise as we continue through this hour holding at 28 minutes, but its probably gonna go up because more and more folks are hitting the road making their way to work and its jam from 8. 80 all the way over to the high rise, the bay bridge traffic jam to except for the carpool lanes they look great the other lanes cash in fasttracking youre backed up in heavily through the maze. One quick peek at. Drive times checking in on the south bay because weve had some problems often on in san jose that numbers on the rise 77 minutes right now from san jose to menlo park thats very high and then to 80s recovering from a couple of accidents just under 30 minutes heading north from san jose to cupertino chains. All right, thank you very much robin. To the pg e power outage map want to focus this update on the east bay and where were seeing some of those outages this morning again all of this is part of p gs phase to Power Outages the north bay was phase one that happened at midnight the day before. But as of late last night faced 2 communities had their power removed, lets zoom in walnut creek thats one of the areas where weve been seeing it sort of hit or miss right you see this then little sliver of a purple there just north of downtown walnut creek be tweeting Nature Valley road in treat boulevard. Thats where were seeing some power outage now which is fairly widespread for those residents and then on the western side of 6. 80 sort of right up against pleasant hill. Weve got a large section of that part of walnut creek also without power this morning as we follow along highway, 24. Youll see weve got this giant area now where we have widespread Power Outages and that includes the communities of lafayette enter into the law miranda. Triangle right here in every community and there is being impacted by this and for good reason it is very steep terrain in this part of the east bay weve got a lot of dense vegetation and pg es power lines are really woven through all of that and so the risk should a fire break out was pretty great and thats why they d energized a good bit of this area and it turns out there was a fire that was park last night it was right down there in morocco and so that was one of the things pg e and of east bay firefighters were watching very carefully. But that was just one slice of the larger east bay weve seen power out this morning predominantly in a lot of the more rugged rural areas where the terrain gets a little bit tricky to deal with should a fire break out. All right, lets get to that fire. Now weve been covering early this morning will tran on the scene in march aga the flames us or first broke out around 1 oclock in the morning which was an hour after they shut power off to area lawn merrill drive just south of saint Marys College. And now its 70 contained lot of people had to get out fast ong lines going to Evacuation Center. But now most of them had been allowed back in. It is not back on and as you just said james that could take a days just like everybody else is in that same boat covers will tran and moroccan out the latest well. Fortunately the fire did not spread through the area and that was the fear during that it was along the ridge line Everybody Knows how dry. The syria is and thats why they got the call in the dark. Their phones to evacuate. The fire started about an hour. So pg e is not often off the hook as far as possibly causing this fire. Thats certainly something on the table but we do know that power was not running through the cables at that time. We do know that approximately a 140 homes would obviously multiple people inside were told to get out this is a long sander ranch road as well as merrill circle north so both sides of the ridge because the fire was racing to the left and the right downhill get very close to homes. We dont hear of any injuries or fatalities. And they were told to go to an Evacuation Center. Mike her location here about 3 to miles away in the dark. At around 5 oclock in the morning. They told ok so the fire is not out. But it safe enough for you to return. This is video from 5. 40 you can see the law line of cars. Sanders ranch road. They had officers there to make sure that people didnt race back to their despite not having power. Theres no place like being inside your suppose to an Evacuation Center orderly fashion that took a little bit of time as far as the cause of the fire james and area. Now that the sun is up theyll be able to look at it to see exactly where the epicenter of the fire. And to make sure that the fire is out containment remember doesnt mean its out even its a 100 contained that just basically means that they have career around the fire. And that the fire is still burning. Good news is its not marching toward saint nick college as you mentioned are. All right, thanks a lot. Well. And stay connected with kron 4 here throughout the morning, well keep you updated at kron 4 dot com as well and you can turn to our mobile app which is great for those thousands of people who have no power because have a charged mobile device. You can get news 24 7 commercial free and its free right now we have lifted the pay wall. So get in on that go to kron on dot tv to sign up and down. Red flag warnings still set to expire at 05 00pm today wind advisories at 03 00pm. Im talking calmer conditions in your forecast to come. And im tracking lots of slow traffic on our bridges were checking out 92, there it is at a crawl right now from hayward over to the peninsula know the problems its just you know when youre at ross and your new fall look just keeps Getting Better . Check this out thats yes for less. Score a headtotoe look youll love and save 20 to 60 percent off Department Store prices. At ross. Yes for less. Was in an accident. See how much you can save with usaa insurance. And you get first dibs on that brand. At that price . Thats yes for less. Seriously, get the fall brands and styles you love and save 20 to 60 off Department Store prices. At ross. Yes for less. And were taking a look at the forecast everybodys a hanging on air. You say that last couple of days, yeah, and last night the winds really came in full force thats when we did see that fire over in. A moroccan last night, good news is the end is in sight now going see winds dying down for many areas that are already calmer. So this is good news hopefully we can return to a state of normal during the weekend. I know what is going to take some time for a lot of power to be restored. But we are seeing improving conditions in sight which is very good news this is your look outside at downtown San Francisco. Clear skies overhead so very dry out there today and we still do have high fire danger winds are very present for the north bay, although having calm down for a lot of other areas. This is by 11 30am right here still winds gusting into a range of 20 Miles Per Hour in sonoma calistoga around out was peak. Those gradually die down after that point this is after wind advisories have expired now still breezy and a couple of spots but becoming less and less breezy and by the evening tonight. A lot of areas now registering as calm. So that is very good news. You also notice red which indicates extreme fire danger freely start to die down by 05 45pm tonight. Its hardly even a factor across the bay area anymore. But you also notice on this map are the single digit humidity levels this afternoon so its still a very dry day but winds calming down does i mean a weekend where you can take a deep breath and hopefully hopefully see that power restored hopefully sooner than later 70s 80s for your daytime highs today concord napa nevado santa rosa, each in the 80s. Well, Oakland Hayward and fremont up to 77 today, san jose, an antioch each up to 78 for your highs. Tomorrow and saturday much calmer days to close out week. Thats greatnews for those of you that may be heading into the city to enjoy those last couple of days of such a big week as we make our way into next week temperatures going to be a bit cooler only in the 70s. Robin thank you john residual bark delays on the antioch line up to 20 minutes, there was a report of someone on the tracks an unauthorized person or persons. As i said on the tracks just outside of lafayette. And so they have to make sure everythings ok. No word on who it was why they were out there, but we know that they cleared up the situation and now the reporting delays up to 20 minutes on the antioch line heading to daly city millbrae and also sfl so plan ahead for that major delay for checking the Richmond Sandra fell bridge and it is still busy its been Holding Steady back to be on a harbor all morning so 12 minutes to the north bay thats normal. The bay bridge traffic slowed to so get out there early because youre going to have to sit in a lot of commute traffic and it does spill back into the maze 11 minutes to make your way off to fremont street, not looking so good for the opposite side 5. 80 east before you get to 24 just getting word of a multi vehicle accident. 2 lanes are blocked so its backing you up on 2. 80. Yoey both directions of 5. 80 between 24 and 80 and once again the crashes on the eastbound side and it is still active still blocking pretty fresh. Were checking in on some more numbers and theyre not so bad a quick peek at one oh one 14 minutes brisbane to San Francisco james. All right. Thank you very much very latest now with that pgd outage map as we continue to follow the latest with the peninsula for this update and want to focus on the coast at the Half Moon Bay were noticing that pretty much the entire a section of Half Moon Bay is in the dark right now with this mandatory power outage everything from masa on terror all the way down to Half Moon Bay itself as we follow along the coast and head down highway one youll see gregorio also impacted, heres highway 84 heading out towards long honda as we track off in that direction factly follow highway 84 youll see that we have a areas like woodside being impacted by this power outage and Portola Valley just to its south. 2. 80 its not so bad your communities arent seeing too much in the way of a Power Outages unless you happen to be on the mountainous side of the peninsula but as we follow 2. 80 down youll see that once we get down towards like cupertino for instance, thats where we start running into power outage issues once again. Half of cupertino over is seeing conditions that are as normal. But its the other half the western half right near 2. 80 where were seeing again those Power Outages in place all the way down through Stevens Creek out towards saratoga thats the situation were seeing as we head down into the south bay. So that sort of situationally highway 17 from los gatos all the way up towards santa cruz, widespread Power Outages along the entire stretch of 17 which i know for a lot of commuters who use that route to get from the santa area into the south bay. Theyre dude youre dealing with again power outage across that entire stretch of freeway and all those communities that dot that going to be dealing with Power Outages and its areas like this we should point out that will probably see power come back. Then we have for communities that are closer to an urban area only because its more remote, theres a lot more line out there. The pga has to visually inspect first before they put the power back on ben lomond another prime example as you can see all these communities out towards Boulder Creek facing the same situation so although john was talking about the winds and the fire danger beginning to dissipate by 05 00pm and all and to the evening tonight, your power may not be restored for at least another day, another 2 days, maybe even 3 days beyond that because pg e has to get out here in the more mountainous areas with their helicopters and visually inspect every inch of lie before they turn the power back on and again they can only do that during Daylight Hours they cant conduct any of that work. Overnight so they only have between dawn and dusk to get that work done so be patient. First it was the for iowas the a power outage that it was this fire that broke out shortly after that was cut 70 contained at this hour. And folks who had to evacuate the middle are mostly getting back into their homes. But still without being able to turn on the lights will have more Team Coverage both these stories and just. This fall, book two, separate qualifying stays at choicehotels. Com. And earn a free night. Because when your business is rewarding yourself, our business is you. Book direct at choicehotels. Com a 25 on this thursday morning it has been an extreme fire danger. We have been extreme fire danger over the past few over the past evening across the bay area but were starting to see that red and yellow that youre seeing on the map indicating our highest fire danger beginning to decrease now you see areas around Moraga Orinda or had that wildfire last night and no longer in extreme category and even our north bay areas gradually seeing less and less of that risk so make our way into the evening, current temperatures in the 40s and 50s for the most part with San Francisco, one of the exceptions, right now at 62. Robin alright checking in on barton they are reporting delays residual delays up to 20 minutes on climb there was a report of someone Walking Around on the tracks just outside the lafayette station thats been resolved. The trains are moving now. But we do have residual delays on that klein heading to daly city millbrae an sfo so if you travel anywhere along that stretch do expect delays the bay bridge traffic is slow this is completely normal its backed up heavily through the maze and a big problem in the maze 5. 80 east at 24 2 lanes shut down by an injury crash or crawling in both directions start. Thanks a lot robin, a the break well continue to follow the breaking news which is the bay area blackout now affecting everybody except San Francisco county in some way its neighborhood by neighborhood in some cases street by street as you can see walnut creek has some forced outages from pg and a lot of them around the recreational hills, the areas and the breaking news that were covering this morning the Power Outages and the faa fire that broke out overnight shortly after the power shut up it for hours now its about 70 contained. Most of the people who had to flee in the middle of the dark night without power. They were allowed back in and might be going in now again without the lights on the least they can see if their homes ok thats true and heres a look at the genies power outage map and every icon in pink, there represents. Where p g has decided to go ahead and in advance turn off the power to that community you can see its bay area wide we had the north bay they were part of phase, one which had their power shut off at midnight. The day before yesterday and then today the rest of the bay or the east bay in the south bay in on the party has powers been cut off and in places like lafayette, it is pretty much the entire city thats in the dark this morning in fact thats where kron 4 Sarah Stinson is standing by as part of art coverage, sarah. Everybody hanging in there. I do have some good news. They hoped people are watching on their in lafayette, obviously they cant watching their tvs original power but hope im helping somebody out here because the safeway is now open here on mount diablo. That is hugely helpful people were driving by all morning long trying to get inside. But they had to figure some stuff out with their generators. They did want to know. Use them for too long i think its so theyre opening up right now customers are going inside. And its a big relief because people just really want to go get something some comforting things even coffee and finding a lot of people are driving around lafayette just to get a hot cup of coffee. Thats what people are craving here. Take a look at the map again so you can see how many people are. Least for how many customers we know that theres about over 4200 pg customers in lafayette that means thousands and thousands of people but in their homes and their businesses waking up without power. And thats why people are a little irritable they just want a hot cup of coffee, other parts of the east bay here that are affected are as walnut creek about 2600 people are customers there 11,000 customers in or ended up basically the whole cities in the dark and then a 4 1000 a little over 4,000 in moraga without power. And now a lot of people have been talking to both the for the power actually went into effect and then now that its actually happened have just come up to me asking you know what is the deal why is pg e doing this and you know their response has been to us said its about wildfire danger the high winds but people just arent buying it take a listen lately. Overreacting due to their own situation at pt need which is they can afford. To not be that way because theyre already in a pretty bad place financially beam bankrupt and so forth theyre totally overreacting but they have no choice because theres an expectation theyre not going to screw up again. Isnt the only person who brought this up to me say every person or every other person has come to me with that same fought and so that is why a lot of people are frustrated about this inconvenience of having to be without power. Its not only affecting people at home, but its affecting their work. A lot of people not being able to go to work because of this expecting schools. But we have been told that phase 2 of the power outage is complete. What that means is if you do live in lafayette along the creek in you have power. It means youll continue to have power this theyre done turning it off so you will continue to have power. But for those who dont have. That is the question now when is it going to be restored and we will continue to follow that im told that we will have an interview with pg me here on the kron 4 morning news at 9. So thats good hope can ask them, you know whats the timeframe looking like because as we know even when they do decide to turn it on its going to take some time maybe even a couple days to get it actually on at your house to turn the switch on and see that light. Its going to take a few days so i think were all just going to have to get some patience in us and hope for the best. Now on live in lafayette Sarah Stinson kron 4 now andy Good Neighbors if you have power and. You you dont want fear space your freezer i got a few things like yesterday of course was phase one in the northeast. We had a lot of our resources up there covering that part of the story and now phase 2 is in play with the east bay in the south bay now in the dark. We put our reporters there you just saw sarah in lafayette. We also proper person to take the south and yes, shes in san jose this morning with a look at the new. Power. Tion area which is no up in the north bay without power. So whats going on right now san jose. So right now in san jose they had about 3 different communities which creepy remit equal to about 60,000 people who woke up without power this morning and it was in designated areas. One of which i was live earlier this morning. It was pitch dark thats alum rock neighborhood. Now we also have our in south san jose as well as the evergreen area, a neighborhood all 3 of those really affected by this as well as their street lights and traffic lights as well are out you know as well and just about over an hour ago mayor sam liccardo and his team are out here in front of Police Department kind of talking about this power outage and how its impacting the city of san jose with about 20,000 homes and 60,000 people without power, they say they actually our bit frustrated with with the shut off and they didnt want to see them happened. But even though they didnt want to see them happened. They do say that theyre quote laser focused on helping pd need getting things back up and running meaning ey have put together what they call a power their ability plan for the city of san jose meaning they have resources on the ground really in the city trying to help. Pge workers and trying to survey the people in those areas that have their power off so city officials are out there as well as city crew member should try to help the aid in that support and they really put a big call to action to the community said hey if youre here in the city of jose we want your help as well thats going take a listen. Pg employees are going to be in our communities. Inspecting and repairing power lines. We encourage all residents to be respectful and compassion toward them. They are working hard to get. The power up and we are working class really with them to do all we can to get power restored. Police and fire operating as normal. Please only down 911 emergency not for information we encourage folks to go to the other. Websites and portals for information. Traffic concerns that have come up this morning because of those 3 areas that no longer you know the 3 areas no longer have power there some actual major streets and thoroughfares that are used in morning traffic said are not going to have traffic lights or street lights working so id like to list some of free really quickly here. Its some of those are capital Avenue Capital expressway. Alum rock avenue. Tully road san road and Camden Avenue and thats actually amongst a few more as well so major thoroughfares all of the city officials this morning say if you go ahead and see any traffic light that is off please. Actor though its a stop sign and proceed with caution make sure drive very slow. Resources if you are without power. This morning and throughout this time they do have some resources for you there are 3 Different Community centers here in city of san jose that are open charge for you charging banks for you as well some snacks and water to get you through this time, theyre open from 08 00am until 08 00pm weve got a list of those over online ads. Kron 4 dot com also just want to let everyone know pg e has also said at the station and avaya stadium. The soccer stadium here in san jose near the airport that is open 08 00am until 06 00pm and that is these researchers are going on as long as has the power is turned off. Reporting live here in san Jose Christina tetreault kron 4 news. Thank you christina. Lets get a check of the weather and the traffic on the weather front. Its the winds. Its all about the winds with this high fire danger because you said john thats the only thing thats really going to be changing Going Forward quick aside from the temperatures. Yeah winds is definitely the biggest factor guys and that is going to be the biggest change that as we work our way into the weekend. Will allow us to ease off such a high alert as far as fire danger is last night was the windiest to that were going to see it amount blow as one of our spots that some the highest wind gusts along with mount saint helene a we saw wind gusts peaking at 70 Miles Per Hour and above on top of these mountains, the highest mountains in the bay area or at least some of them. This morning things have calmed down for most areas we still will have some breezy conditions at times today, black hawk with 22 mile per hour winds, rio vista at 29 Miles Per Hour up around marine county we are still also on the breezy side would acre logging need us and mill valley with 19 mile per hour winds. Santa rosa down to petaluma have been a little bit calmer than some of your easter neighbors have been such as in sonoma with 34 mile per hour winds at times this morning various around 27 Miles Per Hour. So wind speeds of are going to diminish into the afternoon after 03 00pm today we can wave goodbye to these wind advisories. 05 00pm today were going to say goodbye to these fire weather warnings also known as a red flag warning say have lit up the bay area for a couple of days now the Santa Cruz Mountains much the east bay and the north bay still covered by these though, as we make our way through the day so were not necessarily in the car yet but we are looking at conditions beginning to show signs of easing off 70s for your highs in San Francisco, oakland and san jose today, a comfortable one as far as temperatures go, ive got more your forecast ahead run. All right, thank you john were checking in on the bay bridge and yes, its still busy really not expecting to see a huge improvement not get so get on out there and get there early because youre back up still spills through the oakland maze but its not as crowded or is heavy on the suspension. Now in the maze its going to be slow for both sides of 5. 80 theres a crash east found that still working that set the 24 split. Its blocking 2 lanes so its backing you up on 2. 80 and then 5. 80 west was already slow from 24 to 80 so heavy on both sides for the crash still blocking 2 lanes eastbound. Ill give you one more new accident from Mountain View north one i wanted l s not helping one oh one which was already tough out of san jose that puts you at a whopping 89 minutes for north one oh one from san jose to menlo park james all right rob, thank you very much. Time again giving you another look at the pge outage map for you this morning uk, having a hard time loading this map its been down and en spotty over the last 24 hours. But were focusing on the east bay right now for this quick update. I want to point out areas just to the east of l so brontes we zoom in here, were looking at some of blackout conditions for some of those communities up in the hills and then also to for slide. The map just a little bit also want to point out that the community of kensington which is abuts up right against the children natural areas you can see here that whole stretch is also looking at blackout conditions not so much out in berkeley downtown but as you get up into the hills thats where youre starting to see at the Lawrence Hall of science for instance in that area as we move the map a bit youll see clermont and Montclair Piedmont that portion of the east bay hills right where 24 cuts right through into the call caught on on the course want come out the other side. Youre in la mer end of those 3 cities Lafayette Moraga and a rent you can see on the map widespread Power Outages right now if youve ever been to the area, you know its because its incredibly tough terrain very steep hills very dense. Foliage and especially in places like marotta they had the risk of fire last night one did break out and that was part of our ongoing coverage of not only the pg e power blackout but the high fire danger that exist which is why the blackouts were instituted in the first place by pg n a but were continue to fall latest on that area. Yeah lets go to right now. And as high when broke out around 1 oclock in the morning you can see all the. The flames rising here from merrill drive just south of saint Marys College. It burned 40 acres before they had at 70 contained and that was at last check but you can see just how close it came to homes there live my flashlights the spotlight because there was no power. You can see the emergency vehicles rushing and to put it out while chain of vehicles rushed out because they had to evacuate overnight and now most of those people have been allowed back into their homes covers will tran is in morocco with the latest. And it does not look like any homes were destroyed even though came right up against some fences. I got some great news to pass along to you james and ari a look at park life behind me its empty because now finally about 3 minutes ago they people the last wave of evacuees on merrill circle north. They were allowed to return to their home homes and trust me they ran to their cars and got back inside racing back to their homes because theyve been evacuated for about 8 hours because of the flames that ripped along the hillside pg need took out power about an hour before it happened them. It says are right around. Sanders ran to road and merrill circle north and it went to the left and the right but more important. They went through dry. Vegetation that it caused so much fear throughout this area they got calls in the middle of night in the dark to race out of their homes and weve learned from some of the evacuees at police officers, were knocking on their doors telling them to get out. They came through braga to an Evacuation Center about 4 hours asking me for miles from the location in the dark fortunately, no accidents people remained relatively calm as far as the cause of the fire they simply dont know at this time pg e simply because they turn off the power. Thats a big clue for them that in mind not to be pg e but theyre still looking at that and other possibilities. 6 oclock in the morning. Thats when they declared about 70 containment so the fire still going. But its not threatening any homes as far as we know at one point it threatened.
