Unfortunately a lot of people could not get out of the way which is why were hearing at least 15 people injured. 3 People Killed including a 6 the witnesses who a lot of them were separated from their families that they had to have a reunification center. Here is out some of the witnesses here are some of the witnesses talking about the chaos. You know you think wed screamed and if we were to screen he would attorney shot this that the maligned were street lined up with him. So we just ran you know in a slow does gun and then start shooting in going straight for 10 so. Yeah, it was just like so in real we still have a process that all you know we just left a tip that he shot 2 people in 2 seconds 2 minutes before that to go the bathroom and he was like 15 feet away from us with load his gun and started shooting randomly him. Lets talk about the senior there are metal detectors at this location so that people who put on festival they were aware that possible weapons could come through said they did all the precautions that they possibly could unfortunately the creek area was not protected and did not have a Police Officer at the scene. So were assuming its on the left side of your screen there because i hear a creak of some Running Water there. We believe this is the area here where this person this gunman came through there with some cutters with an Assault Rifle thats how he was able to shoot so many people in such a short span of time fortunately there were Police Officers at the campground at the park ground and not at the Police Department where they had to race here. But they were already here and there constant it. Yes, they could not save lives but imagine how worse it could have been they they shot and killed and were talking at that were involved believe administrative leave the meantime they have this place warm with local and federal agencies helping with the investigation and we heard from the police chief james and area last night. He says this scene will be active. 4 days. Back to you all right, theres another active scene will just about a mile away where the shooter lived with his family and has a pretty well known family. As you said this is the home where we believe 19 year olds and tino william lake on was living it is his grandfathers home. And we just saw gilley gilroy Police Officers coming searching this paul this cars they came out with the car keys and then they came and searched this car to gray nissan and they went inside took some pictuand they went through th had the keys so obviously the keys were found from inside the home. And so now that theyve searched a they said all good all good didnt take anything out of it and walked right back there were 3 gilroy Police Officers in were told that atf has been here. The fbi has been here and theyve been in and out of this home on churchill place in gilroy trying to figure out the motive why woodley gonna go to the garlic festival about 1. 7 miles from here and then break into the fence and thousands of people who were there. Again were told they are searching for any evidence they can since the gunman has been shot and killed by Police Police were able to get into contact with him within one minute of him bringing out those shots. And they were able to take him out, but now they have so many questions why would you do this were told that this family here again very prominent family, the league on family we do know that totally gone was a seat has a santa clara supervisor for 2 years as well as a west point grad and military veteran of the shooter is a grandson of that mans a very well known and i spoke to a woman who lives on this plane cold cold us actually told me that she saw santi no one is 2 other brothers. Playing in the streets as a boy they used to have some really fun. Cul de sac parties with the neighbors and she just is in shock that this would be happening. That does happen. In didnt really dont think that theyll being from a quiet. Boy. Doesnt get in trouble at anything. You know as i knew he had this is like what happened where were we. Yeah shes just feeling shocked at this. This young boy and now he know hes 19 years old goes to the garlic festival and just it takes an Assault Rifle and us opens fire. And again weve mentioned earlier that the shooters the grandson of tom league on santa clara supervisor. For 2 years a veteran of sorts and you know what she died last year in so. It is believed that the 19 yearold lived at this home. And that is why theyre here heavily searching this. I mean apparently theyve been your sins. A late last night and theyre looking for evidence and as i showed you they just actually searched this car behind me. Gray nissan, so theyre still trying to figure out as much information as they can i think theyre really just coming in the home in the car for a motive they want to know why and they know that everyone at home want to know why because again this is someone who grew up in gilroy and decided to go to the gilroy garlic festival just something thats so sacred to everyone in the gilroy area and even state of california and go just to just disrupted in and hurt so many people 15 people injured from the chaos, 3 people dead. And as we know, kim himself was shot and killed by police as they were trying to. All happened at 5 41 in the evening. The garlic festival was packed with families look at them all go for running for cover when the shots were fired by and 19 yearold gilroy boy who was also shot and killed by the police after he killed 3 people including a 6 yearold boy upwards of 15 people injured sent to various hospitals throughout the bay area at this point. Theyre theyre still investigating the possibility that there was a second person involved in this thats what some of the witnesses are claiming some police are trying to track down and verify if thats in fact true, so thats all part of the Ongoing Investigation this morning. Why theyre spending so much time there at the fairgrounds collecting evidence to see if they cant track that part of the story fact we know that they just left the scene of the shooters home which is about a mile away. So theyve got whatever evidence they need from there. But there is just an an army of a response there with fbi and local and state police on the scenes of the garlic get go i festival right now covers will tran has been watching them. Lets get right to the video at 5 40 yesterday evening. Everybody was having a great time this was the 3rd day of a threeday festival that draws people from all over the world. Approximately a 100 to 120,000 people flock to this location. It was a sunny afternoon, everybody was having a great time. One minute later, lise would change forever, especially the lives of the people who were killed 3 people including as far as we know victims, but as far as we know now the youngest victim is a 6 yearold boy named Steven Romero, he was here with his mother his father was not at this location. His mother was shot in the stomach in hand. She was rushed to the hospital should survive her injuries. James darya there are so many victims that the nearest hospital could not handle all the victims that they were spread out in multiple hospitals which is why it was so chaotic. So fearful for the families to try to track down their loved ones not knowing exactly where the ambulance from ambulances took them when they finally retrieve the information they got to the hospital. Thats when we caught up with the grandmother when she found out the hard breaking news. And homeless and because us had. And then the with when looking for fun. Something that they want to. And something it just wont get any easier listening to her over and over throughout the morning. I can promise you that let me just tell you there are metal detectors at this location. So the organizers to every precaution that they possibly could including having Police Officers on the scene and that was great because they didnt have to race to the scene. They were already here which is why they pounced on this gunman. Diffuse did in less than a minute or so were hearing about 3 officers jumped on it shot the gunman, he was killed. Those officers were not injured and i can show you right now. This ive been to this festival many times this almost appears to be the beginning of the festival as the cars are are arriving, it looks like the beginning of the festival instead this festival is shipments shut down obviously and it is a crime scene and usually the metal detectors slow people down james and area that ive seen the crowd backed up to where they are orange cones are because you get filter through the metal detectors and the gunman knew exactly that which is why he bypassed the metal detectors and cut through a fence along the creek which is a dip in the road that can hear the water running cut through the fence area and then pounced on theunsuspecting victims and you can see here it is more officers arriving to the scene guys. Yeah Gilroy Police just left the home theyve been here for hours and just moments ago they did search this car before they left its a grey alton, a and they were searching that car pretty extensively they didnt find anything. So that the city to a few pictures and then went back inside and then wrap everything up and left when theyre inside their in a now bringing, im a evidence back eggs and then they were going into now we did see a man i a a younger man believed to be a his dad and his brother coming out. Again this is where the man has been identified as the shooter send teen only gone was living with his we do know his dads name is totally gone. He was santa clara supervisor for 2 years. Is the grandson of tone, li gun sights getting to be a little confusing. But hes the grandson of totally gone and his son is tom junior and they live here as the family home a lot of the neighbors here are in shock they are seeing the senior the fact that theyre seeing Law Enforcement going here and then only to hear that the shooter of this horrific event at the garlic festival was their neighbors. So a lot of people im just trying to grasp that right now i spoke to one woman who says she saw centeno growing up here they use to have block parties and get togethers and she said she never suspected him of doing anything of this sort. So you could do a quick drive 7 minutes away we could even walk if you wanted to its unclear if the car they search is sent he knows but it did seem like they got the keys were inside came out. And searched it seems like they have gotten all the in the evidence that they need so far maybe theyll be back. And the gunman was local just lived about a mile away and we showed you is home already been searched by the fbi and they left with whatever evidence they could gather from the home of 19 yearold san t know leg on. And one of the victims. Thats been publicized in the wake of the shooting was a 6 yearold boy his name was Steven Romero his mother was also shot, shes being treated at the hospital now and kron fours the well bell has more off from the victims family. At least 4 victims of the shooting were taken here to a saint louise or Regional Hospital, one of those victims was Steven Lucy Romero a 6 yearold boy who died from his injuries. This is really kind of theres no words to describe.
