We arent expecting more than abot a half inch or so out of what is beingdescribed as a fairly run of the mill type of storm. Lets go the video. We also are not expecting too much in the way of run off from this stormso its not going to make much of a difference to the levels in this and other reservoirs around the south bay. Vasona is one of the smallest of the valleys ten reservoirs and right now its abouttwothirds full. But the others are not in such goof shape. Lexington reservoir in the hills above los gatos is at about 30 percent of capacity. And together, all ten reservoirs, which account for about half of the valleys localsupply, are at about 26 percent full. The good news is that the ground water is in good shape and conservation efforts have paid off. rob live right now rainfall for the season across the Greater South bay is just a little better than half of what it should be for this time of year, on whats more it looks like well be dry until, once this looks like well be dry until next month. That is likely to kick start the conversation about conservation. And investigators are still trying to figure out how it happened. The 50yearold man was found yesterday morning. Just a few steps away from the 24th street bart station. Witnesses say he was sleeping in the alley. And a short time later he was on fire. Police are now checking surveillance cameras in the area. Looking to see how the fire started. They are investigating his death as suspicious. grant police in the east bay are looking for a gunman after a shooting outside of a shopping mall. It happened at the sun valley mall in concord last night. Police say just after 9 00. A group of five people left the round one arcade and bowling alley. Three men then confronted the group in the parking lot. During that confrontation. One of the suspects took out a gun and started shooting. One victim was hit in the leg, but is expected to be okay. No arrests have been made and police do not have a description of the gunman. vicki on to another big story. The city of San Francisco now has its third mayor in less than a month and a half. This after the board of supervisors voted late yesterday to remove london breed as interim mayor. And, replaced her with her colleague on the board mark farrell. All of this happening after former San Francisco mayor ed lee died last month. Kron fours Philippe Djegal caught up with farrell on his first full day as mayor. philippe interim San Francisco mayor mark farrell says he started his day in the city like he does every other. By taking his kids to school, and then heading to city hall. We met up with him as he toured the businesses damaged by an overnight fire in the west portal neighborhood. Where he says he is mindful of the fact that some of supervisor londons breeds supporters believe she should still be mayor. Mark farrell interim mayor i understand the emotion that was in the room last night. I heard it and felt it. Tuesday night, the board of supervisors voted breed out of her role as interim mayor, and appointed farrell. Because some on the board felt breed should not serve in the dual role of mayor and president of the board of supervisors. Several breed supporters feel race played a role in the decision. Replacing an African American woman with a caucasian man. Mayor farrell says he will reach out to Community Leaders to help bridge the racial divide. Mark farrell interim mayor the boards decision yesterday is, again, i do not take lightly. I take humbly. And, its something that i will work to make sure that the next six months, that every single resident of San Francisco knows that they have a mayor that is working for them every single day. Farrell says he will continue to champion the issues that mattered most to former mayor ed lee. Mayors from across the country are boycotting a white house meeting with President Trump. vicki theyre upset about the fact that the Justice Department is increasing the pressure on sanctuary cities. Catherine heenan is here with the latest. catherine some of the mayors in question had planned to go to that white house meeting. The agenda included everything from infrastructure to drugs. But that was before they heard about a Justice Department crackdown on 23 sanctuary cities. The Justice Department has threatened subpoenas if they dont hand over documents showing they arent withholding information on the immigration status of people in custody. Its also threatened to withhold federal grant money. The mayors of new orleans and chicago are among those who refused today to go to the meeting. And they held a News Conference to scold the president on his handling of the issue. New orleans mayor we would certainly not invite somebody to our house for lunch and then excoriate them on the front porch in front of the entire country. My mom taught me better than that. Mr. President im assuming yours did too. Chicago mayor the city of chicago will not turn its back on people who believe for their children. America still has a place of promise and the idea that the president the United States and the Justice Department would arrest any one of us for believing in our ideals and carrying out the law of our city is wrong fundamentally wrong. The university of california is postponing their vote to raise tuition. At its 10 campuses. For the second straight year. The vote scheduled for today. Will now happen in may. The board of regents has said its necessary to raise tuition to compensate for state funding cuts. The proposed increase is just under 350 dollars a year for ainstate students. And just under a thousand for aoutofstate students. The regents approved a similar increase last january. In the east bay. San leandro city manager chris zapata is on paid administrative leave tonight. Following a Sexual Harassment accusation. The City Council Unanimously voted to place zapata on leave last night. The woman. Rose Padilla Johnson filed a complaint with the city back in december. She claims zapata attempted to pressure her into a sexual relationship in exchange for public funding for the organization that she oversees. Zapata will remain on paid administrative leave until the City Council Reviews the findings from an independent investigation vicki bail has been lowered for a petaluma man accused of helping his wife commit suicide. A judge lowered David Clements bail from one million to 300 thousand in court this morning. Clement was arrested earlier this year after he reported his wife had hung herself from a tree in bodega bay. Authorities say debra bales attempted suicide multiple times over three days with her husbands help. Bales apparently had just come off of opoid medication and feared she would become addicted. After lead was found in the Drinking Water at some of its schools. Only one school Willard Middle School had lead levels exceeding state standards. That fountain was immediately closed off to students. Four other schools found some traces of lead in their water fountains. And those were also closed off to students. The School District says they are holding the schools at an even higher standard for lead than the state. We had 21 sites we tested, 6 tested above 1. 0 so we are taking all those fixtures out of service. vicki here are is the list of the schools effected. Police say a father was walking by with his twoyearold daughter. And a man asked to touch the little girl. The father then called police. And when they arrived the man told them he thought the little girl was sexy. The man is identified as 46yearold david lewis. He pleaded not guilty in court today. Lewis is behind bars tonight and is being held on 50thousand dollars bail. grant prosecutors say theyre slowly getting valuable information from the13 siblings held captive by their parents in southern california. Vicki Catherine heenan is here with what the Riverside County da is saying today. catherine that da says the children remain hospitalized. And theyre all relievedto have been rescued from what authorities called a torture chamber. this is some of the Surveillance Video released this week. Which shows authorities leading the children out of the house january 14th. They were found malnourished and some of them were shackled to furniture. The da says that investigators are not pressuring the siblings theyre letting them tell their story at their own pace. Today a judge in Riverside County barred the parents david and Louise Turpin from contacting the victims. The turpins have pleaded not guilty to torture, abuse and other charges. The stores surveillance camera caught what police think is an 11 year old boy on camera. It happened monday afternoon. One camera showed the boy rolling up on his skateboard and pacing outside the store before making his move. He then rushed inwith a gun in hand demanding money from the cashier. < she yelled for one of our coworkers in the back. After that once she yelled, he took off. Marion polk with American Veterans says his message is simplesotmarion Polk National commander, American Veterans amvets just to get the American People to please stand. But polk says those two wordsplease standare atoo political for the nfl polk says the league rejected athis full page ad from running in its Super Bowl Program. The Berkeley Unified School district discovered that one school had lead levels exceeding state standards. That was Willard Middle School. Where one drinking fountain indicated the problem and was immediately closed off to students. But at 5 other schools where there was lead within the safety level of state standards, the district decided to hold the schools to an even higher standard and remove the fountains. The state standard for taking fountains out of service is 15 parts per billion. Out of an abundance of caution we decided to taken them out based on one part per billion. We tested 21 schools. 6 of them had a fountain that tested one part per billion so were taking all those fixtures out of service.
