Tickets remind us where you are this morning. Reporter good morning. I am in unincorporated santa rosa about 10 miles from the town of calistoga. The road is closed but i was able to drive five miles up the road and that is where i found a couple of firefighters who were there fighting the fire and they were telling me they were worried. They are very worried about the wind and the trees. The trees are catching on fire and then they fall and spread the fire throughout the area. We are worried for their safety and my safety and everyone in the area. They have been asked to evacuate. Now that the sun has come up, i have been able to see the destruction of the fire. This area was burned and there are still small flames in the area. Now i can see the destruction and i can see there were people here whose houses have been damaged. The area is damaged and they are telling people to simply get out as soon as they can. A lot of them did last night, but if there is anybody in the area, they are asking them to get out. Reporting live in santa rosa, Camila Bernal, kron 4 news. First we want to update you on the weather. Not just for the fire area, but the area around San Francisco. We have heavy smoke and we want to see where it will be going today. Good morning everybody. Fortunately we have had an onshore wind to add humidity to our forecast. That will be changing. The wind directions have arrows from the west and they will shift to the north and northeast later in the forecast. So far they are relatively benign and you can see pretty much Single Digits all over the board. Fairfield hire and San Francisco in a due westerly pattern. Spare the air day, we have smoke from the fire. It is from the north blowing the smoke which is unhealthy for everybody in the north bay as a blows across the cities of the bay. That is going to be in our future. Run your ac in the recirculate mode and keep your windows closed. Also because of this there is a red flag warning reinstated and it goes into effect at 5 00. Drier air is coming from the land. We have shown the relative humidity levels which will not climb tonight as they normally should. At night humidity levels normally climb and they will not snap back until friday. You have been hearing about the recovery areas where they have been asking for blankets and so forth because it has been relatively chilly. Santa rosa checking in at 39 and 40s elsewhere. We have scattered clouds added to the forecast and it is a dry cold front. There is cooler air which helps a little bit with the firefighting efforts, but it is unpleasant at night. Now lets check bay area traffic with robin. Whats happening . It is not fun heading into San Francisco. Traffic is crawling but there are no major traffic accidents. Through the maze on the 580, 580 is crawling out of san leandro. It is crawling out of hercules and up the eastern span. By the time you make it to the split of the maze, it is 16 minutes to fremont street. Look at the drive times. 580 is packed and it is 41 minutes to oakland. The nimitz is moving better, but slow. 22 minutes from to the 980 split. No big problems on 280 and there is a lot of commuter traffic from san jose to cupertino. 30 minutes from 101 to 85. Thanks a lot. It is day three and a lot of people are waking up in Evacuation Centers in north bay. Lets go live to Sonoma County fairgrounds where will tran is standing by. Im still thinking of the couple you talked to with their heartbreaking story. Reporter they share their story with many others. Shared their story with many others. This is not only an Evacuation Center, it is a staging area for First Responders. Normally this is a place for fun, but there is nothing fun about this high state of urgency. You can see the tents which are being used by the First Responders coming back to get a little sleep. Then they go back to the front lines. They brought in semi trucks as well for supplies. There is a pg e truck in the distance. Behind the fenced area, where we were, it made the National Guard uncomfortable because this feels like a military operation. I talked to other reporters. The evacuees are straight down here and to the right. The last time you saw me, thats where we were talking to the evacuees. A lot of them almost appear like patients that we saw evacuated from kaiser permanente. They are older and walk a little slower. They are fragile. I know there are paramedics on standby in case anything happens to the evacuees. Now also, here it is, i talked about it at 7 00 and i want to show it to you at 7 30. You can see the fleet and the army of firefighters at the campground. They are coming from all over the bay area and northern california. And send one from san bernardino, a gentleman just yelled out. They have come from Southern California as well. At the Sonoma County fairgrounds, there is nothing but First Responders. They just wrapped up their briefing and we will hear from the Public Information officer and the spokesman coming up at 8 00. I did talk to other people working in the media facility and they said that unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, the numbers have not gone up. Containment numbers have not gone up. Unfortunately the number of acres and burned homes are the same at least for now. They continue to have updates through the day. So this whole area now has been taken over by thousands of firefighters from all over our state. Just coming here to do the best they can. And darya , i know you have been asking about the air polity. At this location, it is not to air quality. At this point and at this location, it is not too bad. You can still smell the smoke in the air, no doubt about it. We are going on day three in the San Francisco bay area and the radius around. There is a lot of unhealthy air to breathe today and we have a warning for you if you are going to be outside. Thank you for that. It will be interesting to see the thousands of his of First Responders and evacuees together on the property. They all struggled to get a handle. We will be back with more coverage in just a minute. Also there is the sign and not much else. This is located off of highway 101. If you know the hotel, the general manager posted online saying that it fell victim to the devastating fire in Sonoma County. The guests were evacuated and as you can see, they are just happy to escape with their lives in a situation like this. They got everybody out okay. And as part of that hotel there was the historic round barn. We have before and after pictures. In case you missed the news and did not hear, that had already that has burned to the ground. Sellers, river, they ranch, you can see the list on the screen. All of the streets under Evacuation Orders this morning. Also deerpath drive and lakewood lane. If we look to the south in Sonoma Valley, there are evacuations in effect including london, martin and adobe way. Those are all under evacuation this morning in the Sonoma Valley. There is a call to prepare to evacuate for the area that you see here on highway 12 in the Sonoma Valley. That area is telling residents to be packed up and ready to go at a moments notice. And farther to the north lets go over to geyserville i am sorry callous dona. These are new Evacuation Orders because of the changing conditions. Cal fire says anybody north of grant street, you need to leave your home right now. Again north of grant street. Other areas in callous storm the calistoga are under evacuations if you wish at this time. To get out of calistoga, officials suggest you use the silverado trail south to zinfandel lane. Or you could use state route 29 south to take you out. We have Camila Bernal in the area between calistoga and santa rosa. Remind me which road you are on. Reporter good morning. I am on calistoga road, 10 miles from the road of calistoga. If you are driving north on this road, the left side has been destroyed by the fire. The right side is untouched. It could spread. Trees are catching on fire. Firefighters are worried about the wind today. Residents in this area are parked on the side of the road, begging officers to let them into this area. The officers are telling them theres nothing they can do. Many residents have animals, chickens and turkeys in the area. Officers say that they have a heart but they cannot let people into the area. Do not try to come and get your animals. You will not be able to do that. Everybody is evacuated from this area. It looks very smoky behind you. Thank you Camila Bernal. How is the smoky air this morning . It is very hard to breathe. One of the officers dave me a mask and i wear it when i am not on officers gave me a mask and i wear it when i am not on air. Even here in San Francisco we can still see and smell the smoke. Lets go to dave now. We are checking in with the wins right now, Single Digits coming up from the west. This onshore wind is what we have had. A little bit of a change up in the north bay already. It will bring smoke down to other areas of the bay. Smoke from the fire is unhealthy. We talk about wearing masks. This may change tomorrow with the wind direction shifting from the north, blowing everything south. We will have dry conditions coupled with the north northeasterly wind. Winds are gusting in the napa county area. We will also watch this in Sonoma County. Over the next eight hours, scattered clouds. 68 degrees at noon and 74 this afternoon. Lets go to Robin Winston with traffic. Traffic is not recovering from earlier issues. Look at this on the san mateo bridge on 92. There was a crash at west 92 and highway 101 earlier. That has been cleared. There was another earlier hotspot at the highrise. That made it a whopping 75 minutes to get across the bridge to 101. So stay off of 92 if you can. The bay bridge looks normal, carpool lanes are opening up. Heavy traffic from the maze. All approaches are backed up. 14 minutes from the foot of the maze over to fremont street. More drive times coming up. If you know anybody from the north bay affected by the fire, they are all talking about how they got out. This deputy is driving through the area telling people to get out. It is like a tunnel of flames. Yes, you can see how close the properties are on the right hand side of the screen. Everything surrounded by fire. Many folks evacuating in the middle of the night monday morning. This morning we are waking up to new evacuations. We will keep you posted on that. Now lets bring you uptodate on this area in Sonoma County. This fire is threatening the oakmont area. It has burned 5000 acres and it is only 1 contained, out of control. About 10 miles east of santa rosa. You see Sugarloaf Park. It is burning in the direction of santa rosa and that is already dealing with the tubbs fire from the callous dona from the calistoga area. Also the coffee park area in santa rosa, causing a lot of devastation. That was the most densely packed neighborhood area. There were two Mobile Home Parks that burned on both sides of highway 101. Also a kmart and a ammunition store. 571 structures destroyed in santa rosa. 16,000 more structures are being threatened this morning. And we should update you as some of the people who perished in the fire. This lady was wheelchairbound and she has now been confirmed killed by the fire according to family members this morning. Her more her name is christina hansen. Her father is in the hospital with thirddegree burns, recovering this morning. So many people could not get out. 16 people were unable to get out of their homes. They are being identified this morning. Again, 16 people so far listed as deceased in these fires. This is the atlas peak fire in napa county. Cal fire says this has spread. It has burned as far north as the robertson ski vineyards robert since key sinskey vinyards. Yesterday there were over 400 wineries in the north bay. We will see a number of them that did not make it. That will affect tourism and affecting those who live and work in the area. A number of different have different fires have broken out. And this is the patrick fire in napa on the other side of napa valley. There are the family wineries to the north and Nicholson Ranch to the south. Again, the wineries are a big part of the local economy. Now lets look at this live shot with will tran. He is at cal fire. Lets go over to the fairgrounds in santa rosa. Reporter scott mclean joins me right now. He is the cal fire spokesman. You were telling me, and i got chills, when you told me this is no longer a battle. It is a war. We are looking at roughly 20 different fires. This started sunday afternoon and it decimated the town of santa rosa. We are in a community. The fountain subdivision was destroyed at 1 00 in the morning. People had very little notice. Firefighters and Law Enforcement were just trying to get people out ahead of this fire. Reporter we were here on monday and resources were stretched thin. That is correct. We are looking at resources anywhere in the state that can be mobilized at any time. A few days ago we were looking at 15 fires developing. So you can imagine those resources going in 15 Different Directions. Reporter you and i first saw each other 11 years ago during the tahoe fire. You say, and i agree, that this is much bigger. Why is that . Unfortunately we have fatalities with this fire. Up to 17 and that is hard to deal with. We are in the life safety mode. We are trying to save people ahead of these fires. These fires are pretty much doing what they want to do. Winters should return this afternoon. We will see about the weather change. Calistoga is being evacuated as we speak. Reporter give us the numbers. In the state right now, i dont have an exact number of First Responders but it is at least 9000 firefighters. We do have the ability to call in other states. The National Guard is a partner with us in this shoulder to shoulder. Oregon can assist as well as the state of washington. Reporter thank you very much. One more thing, what about the aerial assault from above . Can you talk about that for us . Reporter scott, a lot of viewers, and i know you are very calm. Many viewers have reached out with this question. It is a valid question. What about the fight from above . People have to understand that airplane engines include hand crews and bulldozers. A Great Partnership to get this all together. 266,000 gallons of water were loaded onto aircraft including dc tends out of sacramento. That is a record. That is just one base. That goes to show that those aircraft are flying. The public may not see him because they are way back in. I just received word this morning from the tanker base that they have pumped 2. 5 million gallons of retarded since this fire season. That is a record in the nation. We are using aircraft. And right now, we have blue sky above us. In the past few days we had the inversion and low visibility. While it has now opened up, aircraft can continue to go in. Plus when you have wins over 30 Miles Per Hour. The retarded drops are less effective. We want to make sure we can do this as effectively as we can. The pilots are extremely skilled. This is not new to them. Theyve got it. They are up in the air, ready to drop. I will continue this interview on Facebook Live and on our website at kron4. Com. We have a lot more to talk about. He said this is no longer a battle, it is a war. That is chilling. Thank you, will. It does look like a scene from a war or a firebombed community. This is some of the devastation from santa rosa. This is yesterday off of stagecoach road. Very little left. From what we are told, only three homes in an entire neighborhood survived. Chicke. Where our founder discovered a retired teacher living. No home. No healthcare. So she said no to this injustice, and yes to transforming lives. Its this drive, this compassion, that inspired aarp. Today, we empower people to choose how they live as they age. We advocate for health and financial security. We strengthen communities everywhere. We are aarp. Creating real possibilities. Trusted battery for your sons favorite toy . T maybe not. Maybe, you could trust he wouldnt leave the upstairs water running. woman screams or, you could just trust duracell. There is really nothing but chimneys. All these are really nice homes. Theres just anything brick or stone, anything else is just six inch pile on the r there is nothing left but chimneys to these beautiful homes. Peter talking about losing his own home in santa rosa. Neighbors are now getting a firsthand look and in some cases able to go back and look at what is left. In this case, as you can see, nothing. We want to get updated on the weather because the wins have been something firefighters have been following very closely. Lets get over to dave in the weather center. We jump quickly to this storm. We have scattered showers with this onshore flow. Once the front passes there is an offshore flow from the north. This afternoon, lets go forward into this evening. In the middle of the night, heavy winds from 1 00 until 3 00 a. M. This coverage is pretty good along the east bay and down into the south. Mount hamilton getting this as well. Dry air coming from the north and northeast. Overnight humidity levels usually climb. Not this go around. We have a dry atmosphere and that is not a good recipe. On friday morning we see some of this marine layer sneaking back. 65 in San Francisco, six the 9 in oakland 69 in oakland. In the next few days temperatures drop a bit. Checking berry area traffic right now. Lets go to Robin Winston with traffic. 92 had an accident on peninsula and the san mateo. And a crash at the high race and highrise and traffic is struggling to recover from a 80 all the way to 101. A whopping 70 minutes. Residual slowing. This is the bay bridge and it is stacked up from the maze, 17 minutes for that drive in. Quiet on 580 west. It is now 8 22. We are hearing stories of people being devastated, running from the fires with nothing but their shirts on their back. Many of you are wondering how to help. Community organizations are popping up to assist. They are taking donations in. Now lets go to North Gate Church and see their effort underway to collect donations this morning. We just got news that there are more evacuations and more shelters will be opening. When these people come they need food. There will be no electricity and we have to remember that. We need food that is easy to eat, ready to go, fiber bars, breakfast bars, protein bars, formula fur babies, blankets, jackets. We are looking for blankets. Especially for Senior Citizens to keep their legs warm. Mount Vernon Church has an area where you can drop things off. They have trucks going into santa rosa, into the shelters. So you dont need to drive all the way they are. [ overlapping speakers ] that is great. Is there a certain time . Reporter all day long. North creek i am sorry. Northgate church in venetia on herman road. Are there any other locations taking in donations . Reporter we have not organize that. I do know that sprouts and safeway are making donations to some semi trucks. They will be giving us water and bake goods, things like that. That is perfect. Easy to hand out for people to eat. My aunt and uncle live up there and my uncle has alzheimers. I have not heard from them since monday. They were ready to evacuate on monday. They did have a plan. I am hoping they are safe somewhere. Debbie, if it is any consolation, cell phone towers are down. So it is likely if they told you they were evacuating that they did get out and cannot contact you. Also go and look for their name at safeandwell. Org. Reporter thats right. If you need a contact name at northgate, it is pastor jesse. Good to know. People can donate all day. You can also donate cash to the red cross. We will be right back after this break. Nightmare. Its a real, live nightmare. james this is a reallife nightmare. Yes, this nightmare continues this morning as the wildfires continue to rage out of control. Containment is down to zero for all of us fires across the north bay. If you are just tuning in, the death toll has increased. It now stands at 16. The number of homes, businesses, and structures destroyed has increased up to 2000 and that number is likely to climb. Officials are now going through burnedout areas in finding people who could not get away from the flames. 16 people are dead and 180 are unaccounted for. Many of them may be in a shelter without cell phone service. This is the third day of the fires. 150,000 acres have burned so fire through napa and sonoma counties. The winds are changing and now there is an update to those areas with mandatory evacuations. This is Vital Information for People Living along highway 101 up in geyserville. The area north of River Rock Casino is under mandatory evacuation. Pack your bags and get out now before the flames hit your neighborhood. In geyserville, the streets are affected, nutter road, seller, ridge oaks, fox ridge, vineyard and woodridge. All of the streets are under a mandatory Evacuation Order. Also deerpath and lakewood lanes. In the south, this area is being told to leave. Moon mountain road, mission way, london way, marker road and adobe way all under mandatory Evacuation Orders this morning. People also living along state highway 12 are not under mandatory evacuation but you are being told to get your bags ready. You may not have much time once they come around and tell you to evacuate. Also Evacuation Orders in calistoga for those living north of grant street on the map right here. This is a mandatory evacuation. Other areas of calistoga are under voluntary evacuations or you can weight for the order to come. Definitely be ready. Pack your bags so when you are told to evacuate, you can. Take silverado trail out of calistoga. Or exit calistoga using state route 29 south. Now lets go to Camila Bernal who is on calistoga road for us with a live update. Good morning. Reporter good morning. I am about 10 miles from the town of calistoga. From what we know so far the left side of the road, driving north, is completely destroyed by the fire. The right side is Still Standing and untouched by the fire. We do not know what is happening a few miles up the road. I have seen a lot of cal fryer cal fire crews going up the road. We dont know if it has spread from one side of the road to the other. Trees are catching on fire, falling, and spreading the fire, according to firefighters. I did speak to some of the residence that live in this area. They are begging the officers to let them into the area. Many say they have animals in the area. I have been told chickens and turkeys. But the Police Officers are not letting anybody in. One man said his medication was out there. The officer could not let him up. Now we see more fire crews coming up the road. Did not come to this area if you are not a fire official. You will not be allowed in. The death toll is up to 16. Safety first. And we heard from will tran at the sonoma fairgrounds and that is a discussion about revising what shelters will be at because of the movement of the fire. Now lets go to dave for the forecast. We have a break from the winds at this point. Calm conditions through the north bay. Other areas 6 Miles Per Hour or so. That will be shifting to the north and northeast. There is a lot of smoke in the air from the fire. Limit your outdoor activities. Unhealthy air in the north bay. Winds will be shifting from the north and that will bring everything back to the north bay. We are getting a bit of a break today. This fire danger, this red flag warning, goes into effect at 5 00 due to winds and dry condition. It will reach its peak during midnight and overnight hours pushing humidity down below 20 . Humidity levels usually rise at night but they will not tonight, particularly up in the north bay. Here are the current temperatures, upper 40s to mid to lower 50s. Now lets go to Robin Winston with traffic. A new hotspot in the Santa Cruz Mountains on highway 17 at madrone. This is an accident where a vehicle ran off the road, and down the embankment. On 17, there are only two lanes and this is blocking one of those lanes. So delays back from the summit up to the scene of the accident. 31 minutes and growing on that true trip. And 52 minutes just updated, 46 minutes out of hayward. Lets get you updated on the situation with each of the major fires. 14 fires in all but they have clustered into 5 areas. This is the nuns fire in Sonoma County north of glenallen threatening the oak mount area. Only 1 contained in over 5000 acres. That fire near highway 12, 12 miles east of santa rosa. It could spread to santa rosa later today. And the most destructive fire, the one that burned city blocks in santa rosa. It is called the tubbs fire in calistoga. Wild animals on 300 acres seem to be okay but 571 structures have been destroyed in this fire including the kmart store and and ammunition store, the hilton hotel, and two Mobile Home Parks on either side of highway 101. And the atlas peak fire in napa county on the Eastern Hills of the valley. Cal fire says this fire is spreading. It is going far north as the Robert Sinskey vineyards and all the way down towards skyline park. So far 25,000 acres have gone up in smoke. 25 buildings have been taken out by that fire which is only 3 contained. Yes, we have almost 0 containment this morning on any of us fires. This is the third day of us fires. Now lets take a look at the patrick fire in napa , west of napa as far as the fonanella family winery to the Nicholson Ranch area. Many people are wanting to donate. Organizations are popping up asking for donations or monetary contributions. We are also getting word now of scammers trying to take your money and not give it to those who need it most. Rebecca is on the phone with the Better Business bureau. How can people tell a scam . That is a great question. We recommend you be proactive when donating. This is a horrible tragedy. Unfortunately, scammers do often use times like this to pray on those trying to assist. If you get a knock on the door or a call from a charity, make sure you look them up online. You can do that on give. Org. We do that as well on our website so anything on our website has been checked out and is safe to donate to. Make sure to look up these organizations. You can follow those that you are not familiar with. Make sure the charity has an on the ground presence in the area. If they are not already there it may be more difficult to help people who need supplies, for example. Exactly. Many who cannot get there may use a charity closer to where they live like the church of venetia that will be taking donations straight to santa rosa. Rebecca, one more question. We have heard about phishing scams as well where they include a link and that can make it look like it is the actual organization. Do you recommend they not click on that and go instead to the main website to check them out . Yes, exactly. If you do receive any emails or something on social media in the form of a popup, dont click on those links. Instead google them and go to the website directly and independently. Otherwise those phishing emails could have a link that takes you to a website that is trying to steal your financial information. Always check them out independently rather than clicking on any links that are sent to you. Thank you very much were back up from the Better Business bureau. Many people do want to help. We do not want them to get scammed. We will be right back after this break. At Stanford Health care, we can now repair complex aortic aneurysms without invasive surgery. If we can do that, imagine what we can do for varicose veins. And if we can precisely treat eye cancer with minimal damage to the rest of the eye, imagine what we can do for glaucoma, even cataracts. If we can use dna to diagnose the rarest of diseases, imagine what we can do for the conditions that affect us all. Imagine what we can do for you. Residents return home it is now 8 46. These are some residents that have returned to their neighborhoods in santa rosa. This is the coffee park neighborhood in santa rosa, twisted metal and rubble. For the most part, this neighborhood is gone. It is heart wrenching to see that level of destruction. Many people are in need. We spoke with Rebecca Harpster about the Better Business bureau. She recommends that you stick with places you know about. One of those places is Salvation Army. How can people help . Good morning. Thank you for having us. The best way to help is to give monetary donations. That assists with us serving meals. The devastation is quite large. So the money we give today will pay for meals today and tomorrow . Yes, what happens is that when the money comes in, 100 goes directly to the areas affected. So it is earmarked for the fires in Sonoma County and that is divvied out for Immediate Care and longterm care. Residents are trying to get back into their homes. So far, with the evacuation, and families losing their homes, people need simple things such as water and cleaning kits for later on. We also send out care teams to talk to people, encouraging them and serving them that are in need. We go to shelters as well to help those affected by this fire. We want to stay for the long term as well as they tried to get their lives back together. Major wild, for those that are out there and wants to donate their time, can they do that through your organization . Yes, what you can do is check in frequently. Right now because of trying to find places to house people and putting up extra members and volunteers, check out the Salvation Army website. In the longterm we could really use volunteers but immediately it is hard to place volunteers because of the changing nature of the incident as this fire grows. It becomes difficult to place people immediately. Yes, we are watching this fire that is still out of control. Have you or your coworkers been affected by the fire . Yes, many officers have had to evacuate their home and they are at our campus now on stony court. A family had to stay on the floor for two days. Fortunately his family is now in a hotel. They had to evacuate. It is affecting everyone. We are grateful for the Community Coming together trying to support everyone in need. Thank you sergeant wild with the Salvation Army. This is the information on the screen about how you can help. That is the office in santa rosa that he is talking about. You can take donations to that area in santa rosa. They were sleeping on the floor. My goodness. This story we keep hearing again and again about these Emergency Responders who had to evacuate or leave their own homes. Watching them burn to the ground as they assist others. This fastmoving fire has left behind a lot of devastation. This is video of coffee park. This is where the sheriffs deputy was at and he was trying to put out the fire at his own house. We tried to talk to him and he had to leave immediately to do his work as a sheriff, leaving his own home. We have more viewer video from the area in santa rosa. This is the devastation and flames. This area ready to evacuated ready to evacuate stands as ready to leave. Part of calistoga has been evacuated and part is on standby. Now lets go to Camila Bernal out to calistoga. Reporter good morning. This is Jonathan Kotz with cal fire. Lets start with where are we in terms of all of us fires . Statewide we have 22 major wildfires going on that have consumed 170,000 acres. That includes the majority of the fires in northern california. We are talking about the tubbs fire. This fire obviously overnight pushed northeast into the town of calistoga. That is why there are evacuation warnings and orders. Reporter we are talking about shift focus. Fighting the fire and structures in the area as well as evacuation, right . Yes, we have one thighs and 1000 firefighters on this fire right here. The priority right now is to continue to provide structure defense to those being impacted and also get some containment lines around this fire. Conditions are somewhat favorable. Temperatures have come down. We are very conscious of the changing weather that is anticipated tonight into tomorrow. We do have over 30,000 people who have been evacuated from this fire alone. Also 16,000 homes affected by the tubbs fire. Reporter we have heard reports of people that are missing. What is being done to find those that are unaccounted for . All firefighters are conscious and aware of people that are missing. We have locations of where these people were last seen. We have teams in place trying to track down those people. Reporter we have been telling people that calistoga road driving north is destroyed. What is the latest . The tubbs fire , we are on calistoga road between calistoga and santa rosa. Towards the summit it has gone across calistoga road and is heading towards the city of calistoga. That is why the Evacuation Orders have gone out. We have miles and miles of area. It is uncontained and could flareup. Right now firefighters are coming into place from the morning shifts. We are getting additional crews from across the state. Reporter how many firefighters . In the last few hours i have seen at least 20 crews go up the road. This operation is huge. Almost 1000 firefighters on this one alone. We have an amazing mutual aid system in california. That means it doesnt matter what agency you work for. In an incident like this it is everybody working for one mutual interest. First responders are working as hard as they can. Sometimes 24 or 48 hours to get containment. Reporter thank you for your effort and thank you to the rest of the firefighters. Now back to you guys in the studio. Thank you. Now lets go to dave for the weather report. We have a much better atmosphere right now than the last few days. This is because of the onshore wind. The flag is not flapping in golden gate and the winds are dying down. In nevada they are picking up winds from the north. We do have an orange flag warning in effect from 5 00 today until 5 00 on thursday due to low humidity levels returning. We will be in the 70s today. Now lets go to Robin Winston with traffic. Highway 17 in the northbound direction at the madrone exit has a special Traffic Alert in place due to an accident. A vehicle ran down the embankment. This will keep you busy beyond the summit. And 92 is recovering from an earlier accident. The bay bridge crawling from the maze but no big issues into San Francisco. Your drivetime averaging 13 minutes. We are talking about new evacuations this morning. They want to avoid people leaving like this in a wall of flames. This is dashcam video of a sheriffs deputy who was telling people to get out. He was driving, basically, through a tunnel of flames. This morning they are getting people out of neighborhoods well before they are overcome with fire. Now lets take a look at some of these maps. This is the current perimeter and we will start in Sonoma Valley. This is burning along highway 12 threatening the community of oakmont and so far 5000 acres have burned in the nuns fire in Sonoma County. It is just north of glen allen. We will have a life report coming up soon from Lydia Pantazes. That in just a second. We do have a few parks flanking this fire, the Sugarloaf Park to the north. Firefighters are trying to save them. Also the crane creek regional park. And this is the tubbs fire that is bordering the Robert Sinskey vineyards. All of these areas are Still Standing. The vineyards and wineries you see in this area are still okay at this hour. But in the middle, this is all destroyed. 16,000 other structures have been threatened. Over 500 structures have been lost. Yes, the map on your screen was of the atlas peak fire in napa county. Right now this is the patrick fire in napa. You can see on the top end of it it is flanked by the fonanella family winery and we are told that is Still Standing. To the south we have Nicholson Ranch. We were told that was destroyed. We have learned that the scribes winery is still okay. Now we want to go to Lydia Pantazes who was on highway 12. You are north from where you were last time, correct . Reporter yes and i see a lot of devastation. I am on arnold drive in glenallen. Only First Responders and the media are allowed in this restricted area. This is what we saw just down the road. Many buildings in this area have been destroyed. A man and his wife was packing up and leaving. They live about two miles away from the devastation. They are packing up their belongings and we will hear from them coming up a little bit later. We did talk to some people in the area that were hard hit. Many did not want to talk on camera. Now lets go to the Sonoma County fairgrounds to will tran he is at the Sheriffs Office, i am sorry. Reporter we are waiting for a press conference to get underway in about 15 minutes. We were told to come over here from the Sonoma County fairgrounds. We do not know exactly what they will be talking about. We speculate that it could be road closures in the area. Now lets go live to the Animal Services. What are you assisting with quam a , pets or livestock or both . Right now we have the capacity for the pets. The sanna rosa fairgrounds are handling the santa rosa fairgrounds are handling livestock. We did catch a few strays. Right now we are helping people out for those that dont have a home to return to. So you are taking in animals because many people cannot stay in a shelter with a dog or a cat. Exactly. Are you prepared to house these animals for some time . We ask people how long their animals will be here. But we are here. We are doing whatever we can. We are taking donations, cat food, dog food, cat litter, toys. In cases like this, at least that way if somebody finds their pet and brings them into a shelter that will help in the reconnection process with their families. Yes, i suggest anybody that has an animal microchipped, make sure that information is up to date. Definitely make sure all of the information is uptodate. Otherwise we take pictures of the animals and post them on our social media. What is the social media site where you have pictures . Petaluma Animal Services foundation. It is most effective on facebook. You can look us up. Very good, sabrina, thank you for checking in with us. If you would like to assist, donations are being accepted. Facebook and instagram is down and many wide areas of the world including california and the uk. So i think the best way to coordinate everything is going through kron4. Com or our mobile app as well to try to find those loved ones that are missing in the fire. You can also go to the American Red Cross at redcross. Org donate or you can text red cross to 90999. There are other ways to assist beyond the red cross. You can make donations to the Salvation Army. Other entities are listed on the screen. Yes they are taking monetary donations. Also at united way wine country. Org. They do not want you to go to the Finley Community center anymore to donate. They are working to distribute what they already have. Yes, and other locations do need your help. The Sonoma County hotline is very helpful. Missing people are being reported there. Again, once facebook gets up and running again, that will be a great tool. You can also mark yourself as safe at safeandwell. Org once social media comes back up. At this hour, 16 confirmed fatalities. 117,000 acres have been burned. Mostly 0 containment. We will be right back after this break. There is really nothing but chimneys. All these are really nice homes. Theres just anything brick or stone, anything else is just six inch pile on the floor darya we see nothing but chimneys. All of us were really nice homes. A sixinch pile of rubble on the floor. That man lost his home in the fire. So far 2000 homes and businesses have been destroyed by the north bay fire is. This is a neighborhood in santa rosa that was reduced to ashes. In a few moments we will take you live to a press conference that is getting underway in just a moment. Our continuing coverage of the north bay firestorm continues. Stay with us. Words. Its a nightmare. Its a real, live nightmare. james this is a real life nightmare. More than 117,000 acres have burned along with 2000 structures and homes. Firefighters no closer to getting containment then they were two days ago when this broke out on sunday. This is the latest on the right side of your screen. 16 people have been confirmed killed, 2000 homes and buildings destroyed. That number continues to rise. And we have 183 people unaccounted for. Many people had been relying on facebook and in the last half hour we learned it was down in many spots around the world including the United States and the uk. Go to kron4. Com for the latest on that. We are also standing by for a press conference. We will take you live for that as soon as it occurs. These fires are burning out of control. Now lets get a live report along calistoga road with Camila Bernal. We may have to interrupt you and we apologize in advance. Reporter i am about 10 miles from the town of calistoga. The left side of this road has been destroyed by the fire. The right side was untouched. Now we have information that some of the damage has spread to the right side of this road. Hellfire told us these firefighters have been here in 2448 hour shifts. They are committed. They are now fighting structures in the area and no longer just protecting people. They are fighting structure fires now and trying to keep it from spreading. Many residents in the area were trying to return to get their pets or medications. But officials are not allowing them in. Cal fire Officials Say they are compassionate and they understand. But they cannot let the men due to safety issues. They are concerned about this fire spreading and we dont know how much it will grow or where it will spread to at this point. Back to you guys, i am Camila Bernal for kron4 news. These are some of the evacuation areas. Along highway 101 in the area of geyserville, you are being told to evacuate. These are areas north of the River Rock Casino. Lets take a look at some of the roadways that have been affected. Nutter road, cellars road, river road, fay ranch road, ridge oaks road, fox ridge road, vineyard road, woodridge road, ram hill road, rock mouth road. Now lets go to the conference. We will start doing regular Sheriffs Office media briefings, 9 30 today, 1 00 and 6 00 tonight. The one that 1 00 will be at the fairgrounds. Everybody will be there to give out information. We are working hard to keep the community informed. I do have some updates. The winds will be picking up this afternoon. We were doing evacuations yesterday and today. We are not switching operations to anything other than life saving right now. It is all about lifesaving evacuations. Many people in the advisory areas are asking what to do. My advice for those of you that are under an advisory warning to go. If you have a place to go, go. The less people we have here and have to evacuate, the better. Life safety is what matters right now. We have our missing persons count up to 670. Of that we have found 110 found safely. We do expect this number to continue to go up. We did continue evacuations through the night. 73 cell phone towers are down in the state. Our information line is working. I want to encourage everybody to keep up with the news updates. It is very important. Sonoma county Sheriffs Office facebook has a lot of information. Also Sonoma County facebook. They are adding shelters as well to their facebook page. And 7075653856 is the Sonoma County information hotline. I will take questions now. [ indiscernible low volume ] the Community Support has been wonderful. There is always someone who wants to stay but the community has been working very well with us. We cannot emphasize it enough to people. This fire is burning rapidly. I think they underestimate how powerful and dangerous it can be. That is why i say if you have a place to go to, go. You do not need to be here. [ indiscernible low volume ] i do not know that. I do know there are injuries but i do not have the number. I do not have any fire line information either but we hope to get that information coming up at 1 00 with the briefing from cal fire. We are very concerned about all of the fire lines because of the shifting of the wind. We have 11 confirmed dead right now. We are working on identifying them. The number one priority is identification and family members. We are trying to get to family first. Cell phone service has been spotty. People do not have their chargers. Once a goes dead, you cannot communicate. We have had some evidence of that from people we talk to. Today others will be up working. I do expect that located number of people to go up. Again, 7075653856 is the Sonoma County information hotline. When you find relative, call that number and let us know so we can take them off the list. Were most of these fatalities elderly . I know they are victims of the fire but i do not know the circumstances at this time. The devastation is enormous. We cannot even get into most of the areas. The 11 people that we have found, we found for from other reasons. We have not started to even do searches yet. They are going to those areas for a differing reason when they find those bodies. We have not sent in teams yet. But a deputy could be sent to a location for something and they locate someone who has passed away. I do know that alerts were used and phone system alerts were used. People do not have land lines anymore. Systems will call land lines but many dont have them. So if you dont sign up your cell phone you do not get the call service. The message is sign up for alerts. The other thing to keep in mind is that this fire was unbelievably fast. Sheriffs deputies were running. The timeline is almost on conceivable. [ indiscernible low volume ] communication problems in general have been difficult. I think that is the nature of technology. 73 cell towers are down between here and oregon. I can get to the fairgrounds and it will not work. Cell phone service is very spotty. Is there a backup plan . The news media. Radio. All of you are getting this message out for us. Pay attention to cell phones. It on the internet. Go to the webpages. Use them all so you do not miss information. Cell phone companies are working hard to put everything back together. They had a briefing yesterday and i am impressed with pg e and the cell phone companies. The infrastructure and the amount of agencies working on things like that behindthe scenes is incredible. They are bringing in the National Guard Satellite Phone system so people can call their loved ones from a truck with phones we can hand them. There are a lot of communication pieces coming into the county. I cannot stress this enough. If you are and then evacuation zone, you can not come home. The areas are sealed off. We have had very few problems of looters. One arrest last night. They were violating the curfew. So far, that problem has not been huge, which is great. We have 100 deputies working where there are usually 30 right now. We have 300 deputies total. They are out and working. [ indiscernible low volume ] land lines switching to cell phones have made notifications different. So far i think the indication of notifications have been excellent. The fire occurred in the middle of the night. [ indiscernible low volume ] the burned out area, you can see everything. I was up in lark field yesterday afternoon and all the deputies came up and the area 100 yards away from us went up in smoke. Nothing is safe yet. This will take a long time to get through. We are worried about the conditions today with the winds shifting. They are working on areas in preparation and calistoga right now. Whoever called in makes a report of a missing member. We get to that person when we find a missing member. We have 30 people searching for people, not through the fire rubble yet. They search by tracking down relatives, friends, cell phones, things like that. To try to find where they are. That is a network of communications efforts. We had ideas of trying to get people into their homes yesterday. But like i said the fire came back up and we had to push everybody back. I have no idea about that and how the fire started. Cal fire will have a report for us coming up at 1 00 from the fairgrounds. [ indiscernible low volume ] there is a very complicated Emergency Operations system in place with all of the fire command an Emergency Operations center in Sonoma County. We coordinate resources. What happens is ultimately all of those calls end up in our dispatch center and we send people out. [ indiscernible low volume ] that would be a team effort with cal fire and the Sheriffs Office. Alameda is here and they are our Emergency Operations center. They have dogs. Resources are not a problem. We have tons of resources. The cooperation from local agencies, and when i say that, it stretches out a way. To san mateo, San Francisco, people from Pittsburgh Police department bringing in food and drinks. Resources coming in from all over. [ indiscernible low volume ] we are trying to save lives right now. There will ultimately be a list of names of the victims but not until we contact all families. We do run the Corners Office and we do release those names. There is a lot of work that goes into identifying people. Each case is different. The best way out of calistoga is to go south. Do not go up to napa. Check the sites i named. All of the Evacuation Centers are open. If you can leave the county, it is even better. [ indiscernible low volume ] we have plenty of resources. We do not need a volunteer program. Resources from across the straight state have been excellent. Again, cal fire will have an update at 1 00 at the conference from the fairgrounds. The curfew will remain in effect throughout this week. When we reopen neighborhoods we will put that on facebook. We will be doing that very slowly but it will be posted. But i cannot imagine that happening this week. [ indiscernible low volume ] to be clear, i am speaking about outside the city limits of santa rosa. I assume santa rosa will have a similar process. But i can tell you that all of us are just trying to get people out right now. [ indiscernible low volume ] i hear many stories. The one that keeps getting me is the deputy that was stuck at a lodge with 30 people including a 4monthold. He went up to get people and those 35 people had to sit there and watch the fire burn around them. I know that they knocked on doors and got people out of houses when the fire burned behind them. We have some footage on our facebook page. It looks pretty ominous. [ indiscernible low volume ] we all do it together. The first night i walked into the Sheriffs Office and people were trying to do whatever they could to get others out. We will wrap up this press conference this morning. The next press conference will be a joint press conference with cal fire at 1 00 this afternoon. Getting the word out from the Sonoma County Sheriffs Department about the evacuations. They dont think they will let people in for the rest of the week. Looking ahead at 11 30 there will be another press conference from the California Office of emergency services. And that 1 00 p. M. There will be a joint press conference at the Sonoma County fairgrounds with cal fire the sheriff and police departments. Stay tuned. I would say keep the tv on with kron4. We will stay on the air this morning, throughout the day and evening. We have extended our coverage to bring you the very latest. This is affecting the north bay all the way down to the Golden Gate Bridge and beyond. Smoke is filling the bay area. Back with more with our live Team Coverage in a few minutes. Pretty much leveled over there. Everything is burned down. Its incredible how fast this fire spread everything is pretty much leveled over here and burned to the ground. It is incredible how fast this fire spread. We just heard those words echoed live from the Sheriffs Department. Right now they say they are still saving lives and evacuating people. They are just trying to make sure everybody gets out encase the fires continue to spread. He stress the point that if you are inside and evacuation area and you want to return to your neighborhood, do not think about it. They will not let you in. That is because these fires are spreading so fast. It is an explosive situation. This neighborhood and coffee park was destroyed in santa rosa. Many many neighborhoods and city blocks have been decimated by these flames. They broke out overnight sunday into monday morning. This is the third day fighting and we have seen almost no progress. We have win scheduled this afternoon to pick up. They could go in the direction they were monday morning, blowing from the northeast into the direction of santa rosa. Now this is glen allen. This is a decimated area. It looks like a bomb dropped on the area. This was from embers from a fire that started in napa. It spread from napa to sonoma. 15 small fires combining to burn over 115,000 acres. Right now 2000 businesses and homes destroyed. We will be right back after this break. darya wildfires are burning out of control in the north bay. This is video from last night in the oakmont neighborhood. This area is now under evacuation. james here is the latest on the fires burning in the north bay. The death toll is at 16. Eleven people were killed in Sonoma County alone. At least 2thousand buildings have been destroyed. Both of those numbers are expected to rise. 560 people are still areported missing in Sonoma County. There are a total of 14 fires burning in napa and sonoma counties. They have burned a total of 115thousand acres. And Fire Fighters are still struggling to get any containment. darya and take a
