So the trials were for 45 days, and they the effects look durable over that time, however, for postpartum depression, were usually looking at recommending treatment for about 9 to 12 months when the patients remain vulnerable to recurrence. So we just dont know yet because the studies didnt look into the will. They need a booster of this medication. Will it need to be used in conduction in conjunction with antidepressant medications that are used typically, we just dont know reed cowanyet. I i dont know about you, but i know many women who have suffered post product oppression and and in each 1 has a different story. In terms of what treatment they received or didnt receive and when it was diagnosed, 2 doctors know more about what causes ppe. D and why some women suffer from it and some dont mixwell, its actually theres so many Different Things that are happening in the postpartum period. So theres a lot of psychological changes kind of becoming a parent, um, major sleep deprivation, which is a trigger for for many, um, mood and anxiety disorders. And then theres also a rapid change and im hormone levels soon as a birth in person delivers thera placenta and so all of these things affect um women differently as well as some women are just more predisposed to developing. Youre not supposed to operate any heavy machinery, but what a new moms need to know about taking this. Side effects. Does it affect the baby . Mixyeah, these are great questions, and i think these are the biggest ones for me as a provider, thinking about working with patients. So, um, you know, its actually a pretty well tolerated. Um medication, the biggest thing is sedation. Um and but that can actually have good effects on women who are struggling with morbid insomnia or anxiety, however, in terms of breastfeeding, thats the biggest thing. These Clinical Trials the women were asked to forgo breastfeeding. During this time, and i know for many of my patients not having information on how this will affect, um uh, milk production or how much goes into the milk or what the potential risks are for their baby, but honestly, be a no go so im really excited to get more data on the safety profile and the risks associated with breaeastfeeding because this is the number 1 thing that my patients ask me about. So i think if youre not breastfeeding, and its not an issue, it seems like a really reasonable thing for patients to try. But if youre really interested in breast feeding, its going to have to be weighed against the safety profiles of the medications that have we have a lot more data about safety during breastfeeding.
