Plenty of room to spread your room at sfo tonight but the but thi nthanksgiving stories. And one of these foods may be off the table as well. Getting cold in the morning but not cold bay area wide. When we come back i will show you where some of the coldest spots are and well the surge in covid19 cases now have prompted fears that we would see a fresh round of panic for thanksgiving. But as john ramos discovers the most noticeable thing missing this week is not a product on the shelves. Reporter the saturday before thanksgiving is normally a huge shopping day for people stocking up on groceries for thanksgiving. But what i found today indicates that this may be a very different kind of holiday. The costco in concord is usually busy but now it shows no more paper towels and toilet papers and Something Else is missing, the crowds. It is busy by pandemic standards but Parking Spaces available and inside crowded aisles and long checkout lines were nonexistent. We hear the panic shopping. Robert stewart avoided costco and came to alamo. What he found was unexpected. There is plenty of paper towels and plenty of toilet paper. Were you surprised . I was shocked. I found sanitizing wipes as well. The shelves are well stocked with Paper Products and the usual requirements for thanksgiving dinner. I would never buy this giant thing so for the two or three packs they are six and eight packs. She thinks retailers are preparing for holiday demand. Everybody likes to get together with their friends. Without exception everybody i know has canceled their plans. People are definitely taking a second look. Lyle beersy has noticed it. One thing i see is people is not shopping as much as they did in the previous years of thanksgiving and all of that. They are not buying too much food and all of that because they probably are worried about their health and keep everything safe. Reporter covid19 is spoiling a lot of thanksgiving plans and traditions. But Robert Stewart is trying to stay positive. I just dont know when it will end. We are looking for a Silver Lining at the end of this one. And it might be toilet paper. Yes. If that is all it takes, that is what it takes. In contra costa county, john ramos. People hoping to have crab as part of the spread fish and wild life have delayed the start of the commercial season in Mendocino County because the crabs are still too small to harvest. Well there is better news for skiers and snowboarders, back on the slopes in the sierra this week for the First Time Since march. Heavenly and northstar opened yesterday but with Everything Else there is a catch. Reservations and face masks are required to hit the slopes and forget your after ski activities, all lodges and restaurants are off limits. Sugar bowl will be the place to be on black friday. You know you were mr. Yosemite and worked out there when you were a kid. Yes. Where did you learn to ski . Believe it or not las vegas. Did you really . Most people dont know that, las vegas has a Mountain Range out there. I didnt know that. I spent a few years there. No rain. What i will focus on is how cold it will be in the morning. Thats the main factor that we are experiencing weatherwise. For cold nights in the bay area, here is your sign. We have started to light up the buildings down at the Embarcadero Center. There is a closer view from our roof looking back up underneath and boy, it is the season. The temperatures will agree with that. Thats the view from the top looking towards the north and the numbers are not bad. It is low 50s for santa rosa and 57 and 58 in san jose. As we take a look for morning lows. Similar to what we did this morning. That means if you are in north bay, it is going to be cold. For most other places we will keep it in the low to mid40s and hold for much of the morning. It is up here. Lets pull this out. Will go down to 36 in petaluma and 32 in santa rosa and better for morin and some of the valleys in morin you will feel the cold air. It just pulls up at the bottom of the valley. 40 for concord and santa rosa is the extreme i will use you as the first example. 39 would be the average for this time of year. It was 32 this morning and you will do that again tomorrow and you are never really getting up to average. 35 is the warmest. That will happen on monday. Lets do another comparison. How about concord . Notice how much warmer the average morning low is in concord this time of year. 43. We went down to 35 today for this mornings low watch what happens. It gets better. We will go back up in the low 40s. Not all of that out of out of the ordinary and san jose. It gets so much colder in the north bay valleys this time of year than down in the south bay. We will get to average by monday. Cold tomorrow. We will get you back down to 40. Now theres one other thing about that rain that brian mentioned and how we wont get any over the holiday, there is a system right off of the coast that is going to try tomorrow and bring us a little bit of light rain. But thats as impressive it will get. That will fall apart as it moves on shore. I will show you that in the next half hour but everything you need to know about, we are not getting rain. How about daytime highs tomorrow. Staying right where they should be. So even though the mornings are cold, in some places below average. Daytime highs in the low to mid 60s are right on the mark for average for this time of year. Not only down in the south bay but also here. Look at Pleasant Hill at 67. Plenty of sunshine with that. Concord at 66. Livermore will hit 64. Oakland, you will top out at 61 tomorrow. And there are the numbers as we get to the north bay. Nevada going to 63 and santa rosa 64 and the numbers stay there as we get into Mendocino County. No real changes. Sevenday forecast, sunshine and daytime highs may get a little warmer as we saw the morning lows getting warmer but not a significant shift. Thats where things stand for now. I will see you in the next half hour. Juliette to you. Following breaking news in berkeley. A two alarm fire in an apartment complex on University Avenue west of the cal campus.
