Shake up the race several states away. Plus months of protest calling for Racial Justice, why a new initiative for statewide affirmativeaction seems to be a losing traction. Good evening. First at 5 30, the state of the president ial race this evening, we are joined by kathy frank of it, she is one of the worlds leading experts in Public Opinion polling, kathy, welcome, and lets talk about how biden and trump are faring in the latest polls. What is going on . I should say the latest polls are come in away, not so different from the polls we have been seeing for a month or more now. The latest economist poll, which was conducted sunday through tuesday, has joe biden up by 10 points. 52 to the president s 42 , among likely voters. That is almost the same as it was just a few weeks ago. When joe biden was up by seven and eight points in the poll. Sirles in National Polls, and they look at everything, from coast to coast. Im wondering, do they drill it down to look at these states that are really he . These states that, like florida, and ohio, and iowa, where those candidates and right now . The National Polls would not do that because they simply do not have the, i would say, bandwidth, and the critical states, but an awful lot of statewide polls are being done now, cbs2 news is doing them, pretty much every News Organization is doing them and what theyre suggesting at this point in time is that a lot of the states that we deem tossups, that we think are going to be close on election night, joe biden is doing much better than Hillary Clinton in those. We have states that, that Hillary Clinton lost in 2016. When Hillary Clinton, of course, up double digits. Joe biden is in the same position. How accurate is this polling . Thats one or that is what everybody wants to know. As the election the closer, the margin got, so we are talking about perhaps six points, that was three points, that was two points, that was for points and actually she did when the popular vote. At this point, so if you undecided voters, that you are not likely to see the kind of shift take place. Obviously, that could be wrong. But with people committed, nearly all the people who support biden and trump say nothing would change their minds at this point, so this is a more stable race, the difference is clear, and the difference has not changed all that much. Was debate, with covid, with all of that. Hundreds of volunteers are working to get occasional voters in swing states to the polls for the selection. The group is called vote for word and swing left east bay. Sent out tens of thousands of letters today, urging people to express their voices, and vote. One of them is democrat jamie harrison, who raised 57 million in a bid to unseat sen. Lindsey graham. The momentum is on our side. The energy is on our side.
