Katie nielsen spoke to neighbors who herd the gunfire. Reporter i talked with a man who lived here on the same block as valley inn where that shooting happened. He didnt want us to use his name or show his face on camera but said he heard a barrage of gunshots. I just heard it. That was it. I thought it was firecrackers, actually. Reporter what he heard were gunshots a shootout between deputies and the murder suspect late this afternoon. According to the Alameda County Sheriffs Department this all started around 11 30 this morning after police got a tip the murder suspect was hiding out at the valley inn on foothill boulevard. Deputies say they set up a perimeter then called the hotel room to ask the suspect to come out. For a period of about five hours, we had conversations with that suspect and pled with him to come out peacefully and surrender. Reporter deputies say around 4 30, the suspect did come out nted aemiaomatul ndgun at the deputies in the parking lot. The deputies returned fire. We rushed and provide medical aid to that suspect and he was later pronounced deceased here at the scene. Reporter people who live nearby say they are shocked to hear what happened. I mean, once in a while i see the cops at the hotels over there, but never anything like this. Reporter Oakland Police would not provide us with any information about the murder. This suspect was wanted for, but Alameda County Sheriffs Department said that murder happened earlier this year, and the suspect killed tonight was one of two men possibly involved in that crime. New at 11 00, prosecutors have filed a rare murder charge against a san jose man suspected of driving drunk and killing four of his passengers. The mercury news reports 26yearold rabbi kamar khanna is facing four counts of murder and two counts of felony dui. The chp says he lost control on highway 85 past coddle road wednesday night. The dodge rolled over several times and crashed into the sound wall. He can be charged with murder because he has a prior dui conviction from last year. By this time next week, most bay area counties will have moved into stage two of the reopening. San francisco, san mateo and marin will allow curbside retail pickup and manufacturing starting on monday. Alameda and Contra Costa County expect to make similar moves next week. Santa clara county has not announced any plans to ease up on their restrictions. And beginning next week, Contra Costa County will also allow some large outdoor gatherings.
