When officers discovered her body in the dumpster they say the accused teenager was standing right nearby. He was arrested immediately. That was right around 8 00 in the evening. He was taken to the stationhouse interviewed overnight until early this morning. Police did not give an indication as to the motive or whether or not he confessed. It was a detective who decided to do one more check of a recycling dumpster when he made the discovery. Maddies body was concealed in a recycle bin in a way that was not obvious or readily apparent. Reporter investigators say 8yearold Maddy Middleton was acquainted with the 15yearold boy and went to his apartment willingly. Investigators say she was killed in the hour between when she was reported missing and when officers first arrived on scene. It appears that she was lured to the suspects apartment willingly. Additionally we have had determined that maddy was murdered inside of the suspects apartment. She was then carried downstairs to the recycle bin where she was concealed within that bin. Reporter at 8 p. M. Last night police evacuated everyone to the street after her remains were found and the boy was arrested. We saw a distraught woman in the parking lot of the apartment complex when the arrest took place. Neighbors say she is the mother of the teen. Back at the apartment complex, a steady stream of neighbors and wellwishers dropped off flowers at a growing memorial near the dumpster. What did you hope to get out of coming here today . What started as a routine test drive at a concord car dealership escalated from 0 to 60 when a Sales Associate was kidnapped. Basically turned to him said hey were not going back to the dealership. Youre coming with me. And the salesman was like, no, we need to get back to the dealership and the guy is like no, grabbed his shirt and slammed him against the window. Police say the customer turnedkidnapper ran several red light and threatened the salesman, who jumped out of the car and called police. The man accused of killing a woman at san franciscos pier 14 was back in court today. Francisco sanchez had pled not guilty to charges of murdering kate steinle earlier this month. Family members of four irish students killed in the berkeley balcony collapse extend their thanks issuing a statement thanking those who have helped them since the tragedy. A fourth story balcony collapsed in june killing six people. Seven others were injured.
