The suspect Francisco Sanchez was an undocumented immigrant with a long criminal history. While in jail on a drug charge, immigration authorities asked the city to note them when he got out and mayor ed lee cant commenting. The sheriff didnt either. And California Attorney general harris who supported San Francisco being a sanctuary city is running for u. S. Senate. So how will this affect these politicians and their future ambitions . No one in recent history has ever lost an election by being too pro immigrant. It is not a stance thats going to lose you many votes here in San Francisco. For that reason, i dont see any politicians really changing their votes or moving to amend the law in this area. Reporter tom was a supervisor who supported the sanctuary city stance. He is now considering a run for state office. Now as for the victims family, they say they are devastated and at this point, dont want to get involved in a political mess. Live at the hall of justice, lisa chan, kpix 5. And investigators think that illegal fireworks are to blame for a 300acre fire that threatened hundreds of homes in vacaville. Neighbors returning home saw a hillside erupting in flames saturday night behind their homes. Some people say flames came to within about 50 feet of houses. Fire is still under investigation. And fireworks to blame too for damaging a house in san jose. The owner says an illegal firework landed in his backyard on saturday night. And quickly set fire to the house. Neighbors say the illegal displays continued in the streets even as they tried to douse the flames with their own garden hoses. All four people inside the house made it out okay. But the home is too badly damaged for them to come back. So far there are no arrests. You know we did a live shot on the fourth of july on saturday night. At 11 00. Witnesses are telling us that about a half dozen shots were fired and we dont know the status of that man whether he was killed or injured. Police responded to an alarm at the Specialty Sales classic car dealership around 2 00 a. M. When the officer chased down the suspect, there was some sort of confrontation. The man later died at the hospital. The officer suffered minor injuries and he is on standard paid leave. Burned about six acres off west winton avenue yesterday afternoon. Just south of the layward regional shoreline. Firefighters were able to knock the blaze down in about an hour. No structures were damaged and the cause of the fire is under investigation. California water users are finding out saving water doesnt necessarily mean saving money during the drought. Water utilities across the state are raising rates and adding fees because the more people conserve, the less money the local water agencies make. The utilities say the rate hikes are necessary to cover the cost of doing business. California water agencies are expected to lose about 1 billion in revenue under the states mandatory restrictions. Reporter yes, good morning. The scene continues to be active out here aztec in additions are standing out here throughout the morning to gather any evidence to try and piece together what happened. Theyre telling us that just before midnight, a male juvenile was inside that vehicle which turned out to be stolen. The Police Officers happened to run the license plate and it came back as stolen. They tried to pull the vehicle over and that is when that vehicle that young male juvenile drove around another car and then accelerated towards the officer. That officer feared for his life. Opened up opened fire and shot about six bullettings or so at the bullets or so at the vehicle, if you look closely there you can see a bullet hole in the rear door on the drivers side. One of the bullets struck the juvenile. That juvenile is now in Critical Condition in the hospital. That officer actually his vehicle got struck as hell and he was standing well and he was standing outside on the drivers side and he was injured as well. Hes being treated for the injuries and we dont know the extend another the injuries extent of the injuries and we dont know how the officer got hurt. Whether he was struck by the vehicle.
