Park rangers confirmed it happened where another set of rocks fell on wednesday killing one man and seriously injuring a woman. Jenny boyd said she was driving out of the park when it happened. My wifes pregnant. My first reaction was to get her out of the car and start running or something. Pretty scary stuff. Reporter cars were forced to turn around in the haze. One climber captured this video as the rocks alongside of the granite structure broke off falling hundreds of feet down the mountain. He says the rocks came off at the same spot where granite slabs fell a day earlier killing a climber visiting from great britain. Tom evans said he saw the deadly rock fall on wednesday, counting at least six times when rocks fell. He caught the rescue from behind his lens. Soon after he started to hear more rocks fall. You start to hear, boom, boom, where the big blocks are hitting on the face or the slope. The dust immediately rose. Everybody around froze. Reporter drivers were stuck for hours. Many trying to leave in case more rocks came tumbling down. Abc 7 news. Now, this is an image released by the National Park service this evening showing the spot on el capitan where the rock fall happened. Rock falls are quite common in Yosemite Valley. There are typically 80 per year. However, its been 18 years since the last rock fall related fatality like we had yesterday. All together there have been 16 People Killed by rock slides since 1857. Breaking news now. Oakland police say a man who officers shot with a taser has tide. It happened on foot hill boulevard at 2 30 this afternoon. Police are saying little about the incident. The Police Department and Alameda CountyDistrict Attorneys Office are now both beginning an investigation. Sky 7 was overhead as a highspeed chase in a stolen car turned into a carjacking in hayward this afternoon. Watch now. We are having to say this did end peacefully. Reporter employees at harder automotive said the end of this highspeed chase in hayward was nothing like theyve seen before. It was scary. Reporter the suspect behind the wheel of this chevy equinox. Alameda police say this car was stolen around 6 15 a. M. From a union 76 gas station. The suspect ditched the stolen car this afternoon in hayward after colliding with this white bmw convertible. It was only after the vehicle was pulled over and both subjects were taken out of the vehicle that we understood at that time that, okay, this is a victim of a carjacking. Not a friend of the suspect. Reporter an employee from motor team in hayward was running an errand in the white bmw when he said the suspect jumped in and demanded he drive. Back at the dealership, surveying the damage to that car, he said he was still shaken up. Hayward police say there were no weapons involved in the carjacking. By phone, the driver of the stolen chevy equinox told abc 7 news he heard his car had been located and just wanted to get it back. He said he did not know about the highspeed chase or how it ended. And new details now about the man at the center of a standoff on interstate 80 that shut down the freeway almost all day yesterday in emoryville. This is our first look at a prior mugshot of 45yearold demilo hodge. He most recently lived in napa and owned a Limousine Service based there. Back in 1999, he served time on charges of stalking, and making terrorist threats. In cases stemming from san mateo and santa clara counties. Now, hodge was wanted on homicide charges out of fairfield. Fairfield police say their officers tried to pull him over about 8 40 yesterday morning. Hodge eventually came to a stop in the middle of interstate 80 where police say he opened fire on officers after a short fire, a standoff, rather, they fired back with dozens of rounds killing him. Today police found the car who hit a child in richmond yesterday and did not stop. This is a 3yearold boy were talking about who was taken to the hospital in critical condition. His name is geronimo perez. Eric thomas has the latest on the investigation. Reporter El Cerrito Police stopped the car and owner and turned them over to richmond officers this morning. After questioning, police determined that he was totally in the dark. The driver really didnt have a clue as to what occurred. With his vehicle. Because he apparently dropped the vehicle off for some maintenance work. Reporter that led detectives to this auto repair shop, about ten blocks away from the accident scene. They took a 19yearold receptionist in for questioning, and now allege she borrowed the car without the owners knowledge. Shes under arrest and booked for felony hitandrun. The case has not been filed yet because she was just taken into custody today. Were hopeful that the case will be filed either tomorrow or monday. Reporter the collision took place here near 27th and mcdonald at about 11 30 yesterday morning. The 3yearold slipped out of his moms grasp as she tried to put him in the car and bolted into the street. This man was working nearby and came out to see what the commotion was. The boy was not talking, speaking. I saw the back of the car leaving. Reporter the boy is in critical but stable condition. The fact he was so young makes it tough for even veteran cops to handle. Just a little guy, you know . As you can imagine, in a car like a smart car hitting this little child, will cause pretty traumatic injuries. Reporter employees of the repair shop did not want to talk and the suspects name is not being released. In richmond, abc 7 news. A former Santa Clara County probation counselor is arrested on suspicion of having sex with two boys while they were in jail. They took Patricia Cara in custody at her home this morning. The 36yearold is accused of sexually assaulting a 17yearold and 18yearold inmate. The accusations came to light a year ago when one of the alleged victims came forward. In a statement the countys chief probation officer says the department is appalled, adding, quote, this employee violated the trust placed in the department. This will not be tolerated. To escaped prisoners are no longer on the loose after both women were captured in different parts of mexico. Both Ann Armstrong and mitchell escaped from a federal minimum prison camp in dublin earlier this month. The two had been serving sentences for drug related crimes. Armstrong and mitchell will now face additional charges, of course, for escape. They credit Mexican Police for helping arrest both women this week. A lot more to come here.
