Reporter place to witness the play of nature and science, evidenced by the hillside of ash. I think its amazing. You get to be out here in nature and you get to see what nature has done and how beautiful that is. There used to be a turnstile here. Reporter for conway, within this forest is a deeper story of family and legacy. Thats an integral part of our growing up and our identity. Reporter but no matter who becomes the next steward of this land, this family tree will forever remain etched in stone. The people here running the place are often more interesting than the attraction. Reporter joe rosato jr. , nbc bay area news. Thousands came out to San Franciscos festival today, all things filipino. The 30th anniversary this year. This morning they had a ribboncutting for opening day, a parade. Dancing, too. People ended up where there was food, music, art, activities, and more than that. It means festival or feasting in tagalog. Blue skies out there. Great weather for it. San francisco should be seeing 70s. Beautiful weather there. Not so much inland there. Cans of seeing 100 degree temperatures starts to return as early as tomorrow. Peak temperatures likely arriving by monday and tuesday. San jose 84 degrees. We will be watching the skies, by the way, to the east, as, believe it or not, some shower chances try to arrive by early tomorrow morning. We will explain whats going on in the futurecast coming up in about a minute. Right now, 90s around livermore and the trivalley and 90s around san rafael. The wind direction, north at 13. A drier and warm breeze as opposed to the breeze that comes up with the bay and cools things down. 90 in san rafael. 66 degrees in San Francisco. You can see the fog over the golden gate bring and that west wind 12 miles per hour. So this part of the forecast looks familiar. We have got the drizzle and low clouds, but also a slight chance of those showers coming in from the east. We will show you that in a moment. Midday temperatures mostly 80s inland and a slightly warmer finish to the weekend. Some mid90s will be in reach for the trivalley, fairfield, morgan hill, upper 80s around san jose, close to 70 in San Francisco and upper 70s into oakland. A look at the low clouds near San Francisco. But these are the clouds we are watching moving away from the sierra. These will be remnant thunderstorms, but maybe Holding Together long enough to provide some brief showers early tomorrow morning right before sunrise. You can see how that is moving in from east to west over the bay area. Thats pretty unusual. Another batch comes in late sunday evening into monday morning and that might provide a better chance for seeing those showers. So whats driving this weird weather pattern, an area of low pressure near southern california, easterly counterclockwise flow around that is pulling in those showers away from the sierra. Now, with the hot and dry nditions, w to watch out for a slight chance of thunderstorms. If you notice there, those flashing areas in blue could be indicating the potential of thundershowers, which might raise fire danger concerns we dont get enough rain. Notice the trend towards monday, may see a few sprinkles, but no significant rainfall from the showers. So our top concern is to, hopefully, avoid any lightning strikes as some of that drifts away from the sierra. Monday into tuesday, hottest days of the week likely to be those days, we could climb above 100 degrees inland, tuesday maybe into wednesday, then things cool down as this pattern breaks down. High pressure loosens its grip across the west coast and the sea breeze picks up and we see the temperatures start to drop starting about thursday into friday. But for San Francisco a few days in the 70s. Monday through wednesday the warmest days of the week, and valleys, unlike these one to twoday a heat spells this lasts through wednesday and then the temperatures drop next weekend. So were watching the heat and a slight chance of showers drifting from the east in the next 24 hours around the bay area. Keeping it interesting. It is, for august standards. Thanks. Its harvest season for California Wine growers, but wine grapes are still on vine. The cooler weather this spring and summer has put the harvest two to three weeks behind schedule for many growers. The delay is making Grape Growers a bit nervous. Vineyards in lodi, home to more than 700 independent growers and 85 wineries, say the pressure is on. Nearly 20 of californias premium Wine Production takes place in lodi and harvesting that crop takes between two and two and a half months. The later we get started, the more compressed that harvest becomes, the more pressure there is on the growers and the vintners to get everything processed in time.
