Happens over those next couple of days. Reporter this is a new picture of President Trump walking out of the white house to marine one yesterday. It was reported late thursday night, early friday morning on the east coast that he and the first lady tested positive for coronavirus. We spoke to an Infectious Disease expert at stanford, who is also a Principal Investigator for various Clinical Trials a little more than an hour ago to find out just how critical. And she shared her thoughts on President Trumps health after watching video of him that was released today. He was speaking in full sentences. When i get worried is when people cant speak in full sentences and theyre sort of gasping for breath, minimal activity really makes them short of breath and they feel chest tightness. So, you know, i was hopeful seeing the video of him. But, of course, im not examining him, so well have to see. Reporter the doctor credited the hundreds of Covid Patients who have participated in Clinical Trials for treatments that President Trump is now receiving at walter reed medical center. She said while theyre still costly, they might be less than the thousands of dollars worth of medical bills some longterm patients have to pay. She believes this early treatment will serve him well. Thats why overall the doctor we spoke to says shes very hopeful for President Trump and his Health Status and hopeful recovery. But she says other people who may contract this virus may not be as lucky. In San Francisco, jackie ward, nbc bay area news. Jackie, thanks very much. Despite the president s video, there remains a lot of confusion tonight about his condition and prognosis. Its because moments of after mr. Trumps medical team told the world hes doing well, a white house official told a group of reporters he was showing troubling signs. The president s doctor also declined to answer certain questions like how high the president s fever has gotten and whether he had been treated with oxygen. He has not received any supplement oxygen . Hes not on oxygen right now, thats right. He has not received any at all . Hes not needed any this morning, today at all, thats right. President trumps medical team says hes taking an experimental antiviral treatment called remdesivir. We talked about it on the show a number of times. Its developed by foster citybased gilead sciences. The president is also taking an antibody cocktail to boost his bodys immune system. Poor air quality continues to blanket the bay area. Take a look. Fremont and palo alto, the airs not good. Heavy smoke and haze. That bad air could impact tomorrows sunday night Football Game on nbc, and thats a huge deal because its being played at levis stadium. Nfl and the 49ers closely watching the skies, monitoring air quality levels. The nfl says it will consider postponing or moving the game if the air quality index is higher than 200. It almost was a few weeks ago. Parts of santa clara and san jose were between 100 and 150 today, so it sounds like we are safe. Not just the smoke were dealing with. The National Weather service just issued another red flag warning for the north bay hills where the glass fire continues to burn. Lets get to rob mayeda. He is tracking all of that. Rob. Yeah, and that fire activity obviously impacting the smoke around the bay area. But the area that was just reissued the red flag warning is in the north bay hills where were seeing conditions along the glass fire still in the 90s with some very dry conditions. Humidity at about 11 and the wind is out of the northwest at about 10 to 20 miles per hour. For this area, between now and 6 00 a. M. , Higher Elevations will continue to see those gusts out of that northwest wind. So we may see that fire pushing slightly to the south and east based on that wind direction. Now, the smoke continues to pour into especially inland contra costa county. Youre seeing the view there in walnut creek where its 94 degrees. Notice the areas in red still from areas around walnut creek down into san ramon and livermore. Down into the south bay, san jose seeing some unhealthy air, and the wind picking up a little bit in santa rosa is actually slightly improving the air quality picture there. As we head towards tomorrow, well see a stronger push of ocean air that should start to improve air quality and also lead to a sizeable drop in those hot temperatures we saw inland today. Well give you the timeline on both hour by hour and our forecast, which does include rain chances in the sevenday for a change. Well take a closer look at that in about eight minutes. You just got everybodys attention, rob. Firefighters in the north bay are still working to battle the glass fire. Youre looking at new aerial video from a cal fire helicopter. You see that smoke billowing up in the sky. Flames up there in the trees. Containment now at 10 . Thats an improvement. But earlier today a break in the weather did give crews a window to make progress. Nbc bay areas Christie Smith has our story from angwin. Reporter driving around earlier today we did see some patches of blue sky and firefighters said earlier today that they were getting good control lines around in angwin. A lot of control lines, and that they were feeling good about the general protection of the Community Though there is still fire in the general area, and that seems to be pushing north. They also say that getting air support is key. The fight against the glass fire continued today in steep, rugged terrain. The thing is with the smoke clearing a little bit, it allows for overhead operations. So thats always very helpful. Were dealing with mountain area, very rural where its very difficult for strike teams to be able to get in there. Reporter Erick Hernandez is with cal fire. He stopped in angwin where it seemed calmer. Much of the focus today for crews north of here and east of highway 29. The weather is supposed to be cooperating for the next couple days. Thats always good. We lost everything. Reporter meanwhile, evacuees are still waiting and worrying. Flora diaz lives in the community of deer park and believes her place is gone but hopes some things can be found there. Well see what happens. Reporter around calistoga, firefighters reported it looked better with more control lines. Evacuations remain in place, and the mayor is cautious but says theyre holding their own. Very fortunate, very thankful it has not entered the city limits but also, you know, very concerned for our friends and neighbors. Theyre still cal saratogaens who live outside of the city limits who have certainly been impacted. In napa county, Christie Smith, nbc bay area news. As crews are gaining ground on the glass fire, some people in Sonoma County are being allowed to return home. Tonight cal fire is lifting evacuation warnings for several santa rosa communities including summerfield and spring lake. There are still road closures in place. Six months after it was announced, the app built by apple and google to track covid19 is finally gaining momentum. Ten states are now using it. California likely to join that growing list and soon. Right now that state is testing apps in pilot programs. If the system works properly, the app sends push alerts to users who come in close contact to another app user who later tested positive for covid. Despite more states starting to use the technology, only 21 of americans now have access to a covid19 app. The cleanup from the czu fire continues this weekend. This is a new map showing where Hazardous Waste removal crews are working today. The work is focused on a couple areas mostly in the santa cruz mountains. More evacuation orders were also lifted in San Mateo County this weekend. Even though firefighters contained the flames back on september 22nd, some areas were not safe to return to. There are still a few areas under evacuation orders, but most people have been able to return home. Lets check in with rob mayeda right now. Rob, i think the most exciting and intriguing part of your forecast, you mentioned the word rain. I like the word rain. Yeah, everybody more excited in the sevenday forecast. It seems since midaugust its been mostly bad news in the weather forecast. Yeah, some changes ahead that we think will help our air quality and possibly bring us some rain. Meantime, its time for your gametime forecast. Less than 24 hours out, of course weve got the 49ers eagles, sunday night football right here on nbc bay area. Were going to see temperatures trending a bit cooler tomorrow. As that breeze picks up, i do think were going to see improving air quality, especially for the second half of the game as we head through the rest of the evening. Kickoff temperatures pretty close to 80 degrees but notice the shift in the air pollution once we get closer to 5 30 tomorrow. Youre still seeing those areas of red, nothing showing up in purple, which would be the aqi of 200 we have to watch for the game. But things do trend more clear as we head into sunday evening and monday. So we still have a spare the air day tomorrow where the worst air quality will be in the north bay, inland east bay. But notice the trend now as we leave the weekend and head into monday, tuesday, and wednesday. Spare the airconditions still expected for the north bay through tuesday and the bay area. By wednesday we start to see some better air quality and some bigger changes following up as we head through the rest of next week. Right now 84 degrees, hazy skies in san jose. Livermore still seeing temperatures in the 90s. 100 degrees was the High Temperature in dublin and livermore today. Look at San Francisco. Mostly sunny, 77 degrees earlier, right now 65 degreesba rosa, and fairfield. Hot temperatures today. We should see those numbers about ten degrees cooler by tomorrow. So for overnight temperatures, mostly in the mid to upper 50s, and our highs tomorrow should trend into the upper 80s and low 90s south of san jose. So san jose tomorrow about 85 degrees. Low 90s for morgan hill down into san martin. Still some 90s possible but trending cooler, especially around oakland at 73 degrees and peninsula bayside temperatures in the 70s to low 80s. Back into the 60s around the coast for half moon bay, outer sunset, marina, downtown San Francisco still closer to 70 degrees. The north bay should see a significant drop awin temperatus to upper 80s, and near 90 degrees. Lets talk more about the tropical connection we could have with our weather. Whats left of hurricane marie, this moisture is going to get pulled to the north from a weather system that is on approach to the west coast. So watch the two try to come together, right there thursday into friday. As that system starts to approach, its going to dislodge High Pressure and bring us a decent chance of some rain, especially for parts of northern california. Once we get into friday and saturday. And whats encouraging at least this far out again you have to take a bit of a grain of salt with these longrange forecast, is both this european model and the american model did have that. Lets go back to that quickly. You can see this model has the rain across northern california, and the second model too, both paint a picture of rain. So going 2 for 2 in that longrange forecast is an encouraging sign. As we go through the week, warmest days will be over the next two days. Then we introduce those rain chances as early as friday maybe for the north bay. Then next saturday we could see a chance of that rain, which would also bring southwest winds, which is both good news for air quality and hopefully enough rain that could make a difference on some of those active fires, especially the august complex fire to the north and the glass fire there in the north bay. Well be watching that closely as we go through the week. Back to you. Nice double dose of good news there, rob. Thanks very much. Its a popular tour in the trivalley, and its back. The new changes youll see when you take a tour, next. Working to avoid a twindemic. Santa clara county Health Leaders are encouraging people to please get a flu shot.
