Under ab3088, thats what the bill is called, a renter cannot be evicted before february 1st of next year if they were not able to pay rent between march 4th and august 31st of this year because of money lost during the pandemic. By the way, they must put that down as a hardship, they must declare that. Starting now through january 31st they must pay at least 25 of their rent to avoid eviction. Landlords can begin to recover unpaid rent, the back rent, starting march 1st of next year. And for those landlords who have concerns about them falling behind on their bill, the landlords who have a small number of properties they are getting some foreclosure protection under the foo law.
