Slow the speeds. On the map you do see the impact on our speed sensors. Southbound 101 slows to 280 and a lane shift. Be very careful out there. Today in the bays bob redell is live for us in pleasanton and, bob, i know more testing is what we want to see as we get closer to reopening the economy. Reporter correct, marcus. Thats what governor gavin newsom indicated last week that in order for us to at least the very least slowly reopen the state of california, it would have to be more robust and include testing and beginning at 9 00 this morning, in a couple hours from now at the Alameda County fairgrounds will be a new test site only for residents of dublin, livermore and pleasanton. The idea is to perhaps help the state achieve that testing goal that the governor is striving for. Now in addition to the residency requirements you must meet also one of the following criteria, one of the criteria, a fever above 100 degrees, shortness of breath or other respiratory symptoms, recent exposure to covid19, have certain chronic conditions or compromised immune system. Be over the age of 65, be homeless or be pregnant or recently pregnant. Unlike the testing site in hayward, looking at on your tv screen, this site is not free. As of last week, talking about statewide, there are about 16,000 californians being tested each day. The governor says we need to be at 60,000 to 80,000 a day to start to slowly reopen this economy. Reporting live here in pleasanton, bob redell, today in the bay. Thank you very much, bob. A lot of people are trying to get out and about. They actually took advantage over the weekend of the nice weather. They went outside despite the shelter at home order. Hundreds of golfers showed up for tee time at the golf course. This is over in san joaquin county. Players have to tee off ten minutes apart instead of the usual seven minutes. Though some courses are back open, new rules are in place to help with social distancing. We arent allowed to have more than one person in a cart unless theyre from the same household. Its all about social distancing on the course, so we have marshalls out controlling that. Boaters flocked to the delta. The ridge west marina is mostly closed with limited operations. Some Southern California beaches are already open again, and as you can see right here, that warm weather could not keep the crowds away over the weekend in orange county. Beaches are set to open in San Diego County. While some local leaders are concerned, beach lovers say they are ready. Were crazy to think were going against the locals. Clean, fresh air and stay safe. It makes sense to open them. We think all the beaches should be open. The openings in San Diego County will roll out gradually with decisions made by city by city. A lot of the coastline will be inaccessible today but in some cases surfing and swimming will again be allowed. A judges decision to ban californias new law requiring background checks for ammunition buyers was shortlived. Last thursday he ordered the ban. The next day the Appeals Court reinstated it. Decision 2020 and no surprise here, new this Morning HouseSpeaker Nancy Pelosi is the latest big name in washington to endorse former Vice President joe biden in his run for the white house. This morning the bay area democrat sent out a prerecorded video saying bidens help passing obamacare and the 2009 stimulus proves he has the leadership skills to guide america through the pandemic. The white house is still dealing with the president s strange comments at thursdays Coronavirus Press conference. Thats right. A lot of people are still talking about that. Scott mcgrew, the president is talking about putting an end to the press conferences. Yeah, or maybe just his own participation in them tweeting out it was not worth the time, he said. The Coronavirus Team briefings originally conducted without the president. Some were not even televised. But they quickly turned into these tv shows with the president often at the center. This is fridays press conference which came to an abrupt end with the president taking no questions. Of course thursday you had this. I see the disinfectant knocks it out in a minute, one minute, and is there a way we can do Something Like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs. So it would be interesting to check that. Youre going to have to use medical doctors. But it sounds it sounds interesting to me. The president would later say that entire statement was actually sarcastic, that he wanted to see what reporters would do if he gave out that incorrect information. Why he would be sarcastic at a Pandemic Press conference or give out wrong information was not clear. Then the president said what he was actually talking about were disinfectant on peoples hands and would that be an idea that might work. And of course weve had Hand Sanitizer for quite some years and been using it heavily for quite some weeks. He never said the word hands in the briefing. The Washington Post watched all the briefings over the course of the last three weeks, all 35, 28 hours. Of those 28 hours, slightly less than half were President Trump talking. Hes been asked 346 questions. In his answers he attacks someone with name calling or other accusations about onethird of the time, roughly one out of every four answers contains what the post says is false information. About one out of ten of the president s statements are about the time that he cut off travel from china.
